We could do with a World Cup break, it worked wonders for Liverpool.

Hopefully the new Doctor from Arsenal can start to get to the botto of all these player injuries. I imagine it is mlhas something to do with their heavy schedule over the last year. The winter break this year night be a blessing in disguise.

Too many dressing room problems for much to get better even with injuries back
Even nice calm placid Eriksen now saying he knows ETH don’t see him as his kind of player, says I been fit and feel good but not being picked, because don’t suit ETH way!

It’s not a coincidence that arguably our best players, Casermiro, Bruno, Eriksen, Varane, Even Rashford have looked so poor, it’s because there being ask to do things which are alien to them, play a way they never done…. can’t teach an old dog new tricks as the saying goes! Which makes sense because those players drop off been alarming and too much of a coincidence, they will all play well in internationals this week, they will be playing like they have most there careers!
Then be back to our shambles of no pattern, no identity.
Appears we just want runners and workers to suit some sort of system, but are runners and workers good enough to win EPL, not in my lifetime that’s for sure!

No doubts when we get a proper back 4, this team will spend a lot of games on the front foot and not make it so hard on ourselves and win many games. There are going to be quite a few options and combinations to change things in midfield and even up front to some degree.

Unfortunately Martinez is out till Jan but I suspect even longer and it may be a while before we see our best back 4 on the pitch. Varrane is in and out of the squad and an unsettled goalie who is low on confidence and looking at different 4 defenders pretty much every game.

Need Rash back in form and say what you want but our struggles in terms of scoring goes hand in hand with him being on form and need a lot better service to Hoiland from the wings and general play.

I still wonder why we have never played Garnacho on the right and is it something they are seeing in training that stops them playing him there. Even when both are on we usually move rash to the right.

Mm just as well city play like they do under manchini then.
Stats tell you eth was the most successful 1st year manager ever at united. You choose to ignore that.
That's OK.
We're you not around for huth vardy etc winning the league as runners.
This is evolution it takes time and will not always be smooth.
Lots of bbs in the road. The culture and playing style all have to change.
I've lots of patience for that because I believe it's the right thing to be doing.

You just make things up like the express or sun tabloid. I think Mc put it best that the players have to live in a bubble and ignore the noise at United as people like to just make up stories. Which dressing room problem are you referring to.

We are playing 20 yards higher up the pitch this year compared to last year and pressing a lot more and players like Ericson is not suited to that style of football and in defensive transition he is even worse. He brings him on in second half when we are chasing to score and the trade off is we are more open to teams running through us. He would get less game time if we started scoring and where ahead and not chasing the game.

Its a nothing burger and its the price you pay transitioning to a different style and growing pains. The injuries have made it a harder transition.

We can always go back to playing a low block and invite teams on and play over the top counter attacking football. I can see it now people moaning about playing ole football and eth has changed nothing.

Anyone remember Klops first 2/ 3 seasons, they were conceding goals for fun without the injuries we have until he spent proper money to shore up their defensive spine and forward line and their pressing style.

He took over a team that had finished 6th previously and they finished 8th under Klop. It took him two seasons to get cl qualifications and he had the benefit of a massive inflow of funds from player sales in his first 3 seasons to the tune of 350 mill plus additional investment in players to build his version of a team. He spend close to 400 million in his first 3 seasons which in todays terms is more like 600 million.

He also bought Keita for 55 mill in 2018 which was a record for them on a midfielder and he left on a free and was a complete bust. All good managers get a player wrong here and there.

I personally think they have all been good and achieved a purpose, a trophy and third place speaks for itself.

Antony might not be worldly but he is no dud and we will not lose our short on him if we decided to move him and I am a long long way from declaring Onana a bust.

Vidic was a disaster so was evra in their first 5/ 6 months and both looked like fish out of water.

I say our guy is already ahead of him in terms of results, trophies and he has not had the benefit of influx of cash from sales and working through a lousy environment in terms of owners and players attitude.

Strangeways is a strange sort that seems to have an agenda with an irrational hatred of ETH. Every single post is all about sacking him because he's useless. I could pick holes in almost every post of his but it's pointless because he will continue to bore us with his daily vitriol. I don't get it as he's been called out by almost everybody on here yet still post the same old same old. Then goes all defensive re his right to an opinion whilst, ironically, being a tad offensive when someone has an opposite opinion. Strange (ways) old game.

Captain of Brazil and one of our best players last year did not turn into a frog in 8 games. The players are struggling for confidence and adapting to changing our play, I just don't see any benefit of getting on their backs constantly and even worse booing them, which is appalling to me. That's is not going to help them turn it around or their confidence.

If you are a really good player and see fan like this, you are less inclined to want to come into this type of environment. Granted other fans of some clubs behave the same and football is very tribal and toxic but we don't need to follow suit.

Saw the Beckham documentary and post his red card when he was getting abused by pundits, media and fans everywhere and there is that moment at OT where The whole stadium sing his name in a show of support and he goes on to have his best season ever and thought we need some of that from the fans atm, when everyone is taking potshots at us.

Perhaps our greatest issue is that we lack proper leaders. I would love United to go all out and sign Romero and pair him with Martinez. He is tough and uncompromising.

I would love to see Inacio and Silva/ Todibo. Left and right footed CB and with martinez could be our spine for 7 to 8 years. Keep Varrane and let maguire go find proper playing time and keep lindelof for one final year.

A Long term replacement for cas and I suspect we will not trigger the option to buy ambrabat if Mainoo is there or there about in terms being ready for this league. Not too far away if we can get stuff like this done.

I was happy to read Mainoo did not play in the closed door game as a precaution. have to protect guys like him given their age when coming back from inuries.

For guys who follow the acadamey players is joe hugill ready to come into the squad and earn some pl minutes.

I watch Benfica and Sporting games based on if we are linked to players and especially if they are playing each other or Porto. CL games and Europa league if they are playing a proper team as that's how you get a sense of how good someone is if they are playing decent opposition. Can't tell you how many minutes but probably 10 games total.

Watched Antwerp for the first time ever against Barcelona to see Arthur Vermeeren a few weeks ago and Antwerp would never be on my list of teams to watch:)

He was okay and they got thrashed, did not see anything to go wow. Dejong is different level for example but also much older.

We clearly need a long term replacement for both Casemiro and Varane.
Vermeeren is highly rated, but still very young. Personally I think we need someone more ready to step straight in. We also have Mainoo as a young prospect.
We've been linked with Palacios from Leverkusen who's supposedly playing very well. I've only seen him a couple of times, he didn't stand out, but then you don't really want your DM to stand out. So I probably need to watch him a little more.
Another I think could be a really good signing is Florentino Luis from Benfica.

At CB I'd be tempted to go for Marc Guehi from Palace. Talented young player with a very high ceiling, EPL proven and is reportedly a bit of a leader. I do prefer to sign players from the EPL is possible as you know they won't have an issue adapting to the league/ country.
