What’s the likelihood of Martial getting a new contract? Are we seriously considering extending him!?!?

If we extend him and varane then this clubs a joke. Would show we are just repeating previous mistakes.

Partial to another 3-4 years of Martial?

If this is what “football people” at the club do then we are in for another load of amateurs

Mediocre players getting new deals is just what we need.

Really stupid if we do. Time to get rid. Hasn't worked out.

There is zero chance of the club renewing Martial's contract. If they do I will stop supporting them.

This is the problem, SJR isn't through the door yet, the club haven't appointed a new CEO or made any changes to the structure of the club.

All of this will take months, it probably won't all be in place by the summer and it probably won't be until the summer of 2025 before we really start to see any fruits from it.

The people who have intimated the discussions with Varane and Martial as well as choosing to activate the one year options for AWB, Lindelof and Hannibal are the same people we have had running the club and making those deals for the best part of the last 10 years.

Nothing has changed yet, and it will be months before anything really does start to change, probably 6-10 months before all the changes are in place and 18 months to two years before we really start to see the full benefit of those changes. With probably another year or two before we have a team truly ready to challenge for major honours.

Fans hoping for a quick fix and a title challenge next season are in for a harsh shock.

It's taken the INEOS ownership of Nice 3 years to get them to being title challengers. That's in a one team league with a team that was already set up and being ran in a much better way that we have been.

Given the level of competition in the EPL, as well as the sheer amount of work that is needed to turn around our club then 3 years is probably the minimum amount of time we can expect it to take to make us title challengers again.

Don't expect miracles or anything to change over night, it won't.

These are not "new deals" they have triggered the 1 year extention option on hannibel lindelof and awb. None of whom are the biggest earners at the club.
You need to understand the reasons why they have done this from a financial standpoint.
Martial and varane have not yet had their option extended and while eth said the club are talking to them I doubt that very much as they don't need to they didn't talk to the other 3 they informed them by letter that they had taken up the option.
They may well trigger those options and either sell them or loan them out (getting a loan fee) next season if the new coach doesn't want them.
No new deals just good forward planning leaving as many options open as possible and not allowing those 5 to sign pre contracts elsewhere for next season while they are still at the club.

Wtf does this bone idle prick have on the top brass at United?

I'm sick to the back teeth of seeing that smug grin on the face of one of the laziest footballers I've ever seen.

F*** off Anthony, quit insulting every single one of us.

I would not panic yet, talking to Martial does not mean it’s to offer a new contract extension. If we extend Martial on the same salary we wouldn’t be able to get rid. Martial can sign a pre contract elsewhere, whenever he wants.

What I would say is that if it turns out Ratcliffe has asked ETH advice on Martial and the manager wants to extend his contract, then I move to ETH out instantly.

Sky have deleted their embarrassing post, ETH said discussions had taken place and didn’t say either way whether it was for an extension or not and they jumped on the story and said we are extending to get clicks. Other people believed it like you have.

Exactly GtoS, like I said the discussion could be we are not renewing but will help you in your search for another club, thank you for your service.

lol you guys need to relax and don't get so bent out of shape and read things into this stuff. its standard stuff. both are going to be here till end of season and in Varrane's case i am sure he will be professional and do his best. He is never going to say we want them gone is he.

I wouldn't read too much into it, I can definitely see Martial and/ or Varane moving on this window for different reasons, Varane is one of the few viable commodities we have that other clubs may want so if one of the long-term targets is available this month then I can see it. Same with Martial, but he's obviously not a player we want to keep so if he can be replaced for the remainder of the season (even by a non-target on loan) I reckon that could happen too.

I would rather United join the European Super League then extend Martial's contract. I think the ''discussion'' was more about him leaving and them not triggering or extending it.

He’s not signing a new contract, he’s available January and will for free in the summer if he can’t find a club in jan. Not a chance they’ll give him a renewed contract.

United will extend his contract by a year to sell him to Saudi. Then they'll pull their interest and we will have to endure another 18 months of Martial.
