Here's my team for Saturday....

_________De Gea

Rafael__Smalling__Evans__Evra

Valencia__Jones__Carrick__Nani

_______Rooney__Welbeck

Perhaps even have Giggs or Scholes in a 3 man midfield with 1 of Rooney or Welbeck up top. I feel we need to play Jones in midfield as, although he is a defender, he drives forward with the ball so well, something we'll need to do as I can see Liverpool putting 8 men behind the ball. That said I expect SAF to select the following if Jones is fit......

_________Lindegaard

Jones__Smalling__Evans__Evra

Valencia__Carrick__Giggs__Park

______Rooney__Welbeck

One thing we can take from Liverpool getting to the Carling Cup final is the fact that on that day crime rates will be the lowest in the city for years!

i do think the player that we are waiting for is ozil. Boss said we were waiting on a top player to become available. There is a good chance he will be in the summer. He's still relatively young, but also has plenty of experience having played in the german and spanish leagues, champions league and world cup. Fee would be reasonable and we have a decent relationship with madrid, both with the manager and president. Wages shouldn't be a problem either. And he's already done madrid and spain so wont be agitating for a move their two or three years down the line. he's versatile can play in a few mid positions, wide, central, in support. All in all ticks a lot of boxes. Throw in a utility defender, a striker and a couple of promising kids and call it a good summer. Sydney? Shappy? Bond? Other regulars? Mort

So, I'm fairly sure that we're going to get posts from Liverpool fans IF they beat Cardiff saying;

"We're on the up, it may only be the Carling cup but you've got to start somewhere" - and in some respects they're right. But'd just like to point out that your squad is still on par with that of Rochdale, your manager is on par with Andy Hessenthaler and your performances are on par with that of Northampton.

Ciao guys.

Liverpool were the better team so deserved the win, shame about the penalty though, that maybe all we hear about for the next week. I do not think Liverpool fans have any room for complaining about dodgy decisions now. You would think Liverpool have just won the EPL by the way they have celebrated, but the Carling Cup was probably their only real chance of a trophy, albeit a not so glamorous one. Liverpool have their Europa League football now so won't have to worry about finishing 7th in the league. Cannot wait for Saturday, it's advantage Liverpool as they are the home team and they do have a fully fit squad bar Lucas, but it's a cup game between two rivals and anything can happen, roll on weekend.

They drew 2-2 at home with a poor City side and even then required the help of Phil Dowd - hardly awe inspiring but I'm guessin they'll be spouting from the rooftops - bless their cotton socks, little amuses the innocent (doesn't say much for the justice system tho lol)

Thats karma for you. Lescott shouldnt have been on the pitch tonight after his elbow the other day so it comes as sweet irony that he cost his side a goal tonight, rightly or wrongly.

At least the poor mans FA Cup will be closely fought out between two teams of similar qualities. Has there ever been a final where the PL side isn't the favourite?

How can it be intentional when it hit the leg and deflected onto the arm? I do not think Liverpool can moan about dodgy decisions anymore. Good game though, shame about the poor decision.

Carlos Tevez lost out on 9 million wages.
Harry Redknapp made 200k commission on the sale of player.

It's no wonder clubs are struggling, financially, United included, when we see this kind of money being banded around and it just accepted as the "norm" How I wish the game would take a serious look at itself and weed these money grabbers out. Nobody justifies that kind of money.

This window is sad to say the least we have been linked wit a huge amount of players but a lot is far fetched an the rest is nonsense so Wat will SAF do we need players who are A. Good enough to play for us an B. not a mercenary who plays for pride not money an in my opinion 55mill would buy 3 young up an comers who would relish the opportunity . I understand this is a rumour site so here are my 3 shauqire(or Watever his name is) Kyle walker. And goetze.

Shauqire 15 mill and 60k a week wage

Walker 15-20mill and 60k a week wage

Goetze 25 mill and 80-90k a week wage

Wit a lot of dead wood at the club we could off load berbatov(IMO one of the best goal machines) 12 mill and rid of his huge wage package rio needs to go should bring 10-20mill an his wage gone. And others I could mention then buy Shane long cheap low wage an strong as an ox.

And 4m for a lad who is a trouble maker, played hardly any first team football and is only 18 is complete rubbish copy and pasted straight from twitter.

I'm just wondering, this isnt a rumour as such, more of a question. Look at the three/four players that we were in for in the summer

Raphael Varane - CB
Samir Nasri - CAM
Wesley Sneijder - CAM
Mesut Ozil - CAM

Does that hint that we are in for a center back and attacking midfielder? Would that also mean a change of system for next season? Is it likely that SAF wanted Rooney to go back to the main striking position, like the 09/10 season where he scored over 30.. It could be a possibility.

So if we were going in for a CB and a CAM what are the options?

Raul Albiol
Neven Subotic
Mats Hummels
Ryan Shawcross
Inigo Martinez

Mesut Ozil
Mario Gotze
Iker Muniain
Luka Modric? (More of a CM)
Jaoa Moutinho
Ganso

Now out of that lot i'd like us to splash out on two big players Mesut Ozil and Neven Subotic would be great business. I still think Ozil is the man that we want, but anyone else could be an option. Ozil behind Rooney with Valenica and Nani wide is a good set up. It'd also mean we probably wouldn't need another striker, Will Keane would get more of a chance.

Whats you guys opinions on this?

Just having a look at our injury list - 11! Seems crazy doesn't it. Also I am very proud of the teams performances considering our long term loss of both Fletcher and Vidic, two undeniably important players.

Here is the current list:
Nani Ankle/Foot Injury 11th Feb 12
P Jones Ankle/Foot Injury28th Jan 12
R Ferdinand Back Injury 5th Feb 12
R De Laet Calf/Shin Injury no return
Anderson Knock 28th Jan 12
A Young Ankle/Foot Injury 11th Feb 12
D Fletcher Bowel Condition no return
N Vidic ACL Knee Injury Jun 12 M Owen Thigh Muscle Strain 11th Feb 12
T Cleverley Ankle/Foot Injury 11th Feb 12
T Bebe ACL Knee Injury 5th Feb 12

The good news is that (though these are mostly speculative return dates listed on physioroom.com) if these returns dates are correct, we could see the return of the majority of that injury list by mid-February.

This would mean that though we will be missing some key players for this weekends Liverpool FA cup tie, Tuesday's game with Stoke and (though some hopefully will have returned for the 5th) our game the following weekend against Chelsea.

However, we could have most of our squad back for the Liverpool and Tottenham PL games, and the Euro games!

So hopefully we are coming to the end of this injury plagued period, and in retrospect we have done remarkably well to keep in tow with City and ahead of Spurs.

Syd, Evra's legs haven't gone as if they had he wouldn't be able to get forward as quick as he does, he's just lazy when it comes to tracking back. My opinion on why he's become like that is because he has no competition for his place, Fabio is always injured and Fryers is only 19 and not good enough yet to take his place. There isn't another position anywhere on the pitch where there isn't at least two players who could genuinely start other than LB, If we sign someone to battle it out with Evra then if he's shown not to be good enough then we can still move him on but i think you'll be suprised how much gas is still left in those legs of his.

Shappy"""
dear mr shappy
ngiak totally agrees with mr sydney! for once
evra has been terrible for almost 3 seasons
he is easily accountable for more than half the goals conceded by us this season
and the numerous times the centreback and left wing and midfield has to cover when he is missing... and that is numerous times a game
for some unknown reason he is ever present
amazing
just like ngiak predicted that oshea and brown will be sold
so will evra, gibson and evans
time will tell

Invitation:

Members of the Manchester United banter page have been invited to Liverpool FC's end of season party. Dress code is strictly 70's and 80's style only. Free bar, however terms and conditions apply. Only Bitters available, no doubles or trebles. Also drinks will be served in small glasses as no cups are available. Kenny Dalglish will be providing entertainment with his famous party trick; making £100 million disappear into thin air with nothing to show for it.

I know we lack creativity, my neighbours also do from hearing me continually screaming at the tv, but I can't help but think in the modern game that 'attacks' do not seem to be spawned from an 'scholes of old' type figure.

It also seems that in our central midfield we have players capable of creative brilliance but none of them seem confident in using it because they all seem to distrust their partner in defending if they decide to bomb forward-resulting in either the leakiest or the most boring central midfield I've ever seen us have.

I think we're focussing on the wrong type of player; I am working on the assumption we are doing guesswork as fans, and that few [if any] can genuinely tap into the clubs deepest intel. I can't see us buying a 'Sneijder' but I can see us buying a distributor; we have cleverly afterall to step in to the other void.

The top teams that are changing the modern game have got them - Barce - Busquets (yes i know he's a prick); Real - Alonso; City knew this (or stumbled upon it) when they got Toure; personally I'd make ours Sven Bender - his stats are phenomenal or DeRossi until Pogba is ready for it (he seems that type of player when I've watched his but many shine at youth level). All in all the modern game seems to be moving towards needing a player like Guardiola was, I don't know if 'we' are focussing on the wrong one or the club is but thought it'd be worth putting forward and maybe we could discuss some new names.

Thanks

Jack

P.S Martinez could fit either bill I know

looking ahead to sats game against that lot i think we'l get a wat the f--k moments wen team lineups is anounced. i think de gea will start wiv if rio fit then him evans cntre smalling right n evra left then park n scholes mid valencia right ronney left welbeck n berba? y not throw in pogba instead of park. n put morison left rooney welbeck up front. y the reluctance to play them2 now wen due to injurys they are gud players 4 them roles. we gave bebe a early chance wen needed n we payd silly money for him. so give pogba the chance at least coz i think he looks ready ie mature composed n exactly wat we need in midle of the park. so its time sir alex showd us worried fans y we dont need t spend big bucks on a midfielder? p.s im going 2.1 us degea clanger n valencia welbeck. united99 {Ed007's Note -

shappy i saw plenty of rossi in the reserves. Good technical player quite skillfull. Too lightweight for the english game. Which is one of the reasons he was sold. Yes he's been good in spain but he's more suited to that league. Its like forlan, better suited to a different league. He's been linked to a few big clubs last couple of years not just barca but hasn't moved. Wolfswinkal i think is a good player but i don't think he's quite ready to step up yet. No i don't watch much east european football. Have you ever thought of applying don a scouts job somewhere? Seem to have a half decent eye for a player.
