~Banter Please

I was reading Elvis's post about 5 Highlights of the season and his #3 being Rojo got me thinking. However, Does Rojo remind you of the early Evra? Full of Fight, Passion. Like to play with the ball at feet and on occasion caught out. Rojo for me has a lot of potential, If he can keep that desire to fight and to learn and develop then he could be a true servant to this club like Evra.

Jrobbm

1.) He reminds me a little of Rio Ferdinand. Composed, good in the air, always trying to usher the defence into position and likes to try to play from the back. He is quite athletic, pacey and likes to get forward. If he can knuckle down and work hard he could be a top player.

2.) I feel underwhelmed by him. He did well against Cambridge, it was Cambridge guys! But his distribution on the whole has been shocking, he looks a bit indecisive and reckless. I particularly don't like how he hoofs the ball forward any chance he gets.

The positives are he is quick and doesn't shirk a challenge and isn't quite so bad on the ball as our other defenders, but that isn't saying much.

I haven't been that impressed in all honesty, it does take time to settle as you say, but he needs to be learning from an experienced pro ASAP, all of our defenders are lacking guidance and they won't develop without it.

3.) While Beast is maintaining his glass half empty view of the world, on this occasion I tend to agree. I don't have a downer n Rojo but I'm not clear why people are singling him out spas a success. He may turn out to a great servant but so far, he just looks to be trying to settle in.

4.) Without been to down on the chap he is reckless at times but has speed good airial ability and isn't afraid of a tackle.
I wouldn't be too harsh on his passing I mean what is he going to pass to an opposition player our own midfield is nearly non exicsitent

5.) Good point on the lack of options. I use that to excuse for other players so only fair I should apply it to Rojo. although I have noticed he does tend to hoof before looking a lot more than our other players.

I'm sure with the right experienced CB coming in he will do very well, but I also think Smalling & Jones would as well. They are all first over the trench kind of players, you need somebody giving the orders for them to be effective though!

6.) Beast. Smalling and Jones will never do well and are always injured. Totally unreliable and neither intelligent enough to be first choice cb for United.

I Hate how the Press are now running with
'Mata Eager to link up with Rooney'
I did not like the questioning in the Conference either.
It just served to Neglect RVP and stir up trouble. Try and fuel the RVP not happy stories.

Meanwhile Rooney gets more attention Something his Massive Ego does not need more of.

What is more frustrating is I imagine RVP and Mata would link up a lot more than Mata and Rooney.

Jrobbm

1.) It's all about Januzaj and Mata linking, two left footed magicians ;)

2.) Jrobbm,

Other than what the press have said about Rooney can you show me a 'direct quote' from the mouth of Wayne Rooney that shows he has a massive ego?

Every time I hear Wayne speak he always says how grateful he is to be at the club and is working hard at his game to help us win trophies. Anything else has come from his agent or from the press making things up. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard an interview with Wayne where he has come across as having a massive ego?

3.) GDS2, everything I gathered from reading his autobiography is he loves to win and just wants to play football.

4.) GDS2, you have a point. I have never Seen an interview were he has come across that way. However it would not be of benefit for him to come across in such a manor would it.
Unfortunately we don't have the access to get to know the players on a personal level, so his actions and media are all we can judge him on.

The fact he holds the club to ransom every couple of years grates on me. He clearly thinks he is bigger than the club. That is some Ego.

5.) I would assume its more to do with positional play rather than trying to exclude RVP.

6.) I don't think he has a huge ego as such. I think he has a sort of need to be the main man, and to be important. Probably more a kind of emotional insecurity (I'm no psychologist lol) than big ego. I think that is possible why he has appeared "put out" since the arrival of RVP. I might be wrong but he seems to be quite "needy" in that sense.
Despite my recent posts, I actually like Rooney as a player. I just think he either needs to commit to the club or go. One way or another it will be sorted by the summer, or much sooner if he commits to us.

7.) Databass,

That's all I got from his autobiography as well, at times it was all quite emotional the way he talked about his life and how he feels about certain things. I guess you just don't know how much he wrote. I just feel a lot of the bad press about Rooney is just that, press.

So as it stands I'm not sure if we realistically are going to get anyone else this Window. Mata is sure to bring that creativity that we all know United need, However it was is the only pos'n we actually had credible players for already. Kagawa in my opinion has not been given much of a shot in that number 10 Role. Obviously Rooney Loves that Role too.
Don't get me wrong I am excited that we have Mata, I'm sure he will be great for the club.

My only fear here is it does not address the Obvious short falls United have, CM, LB and CB.

Hopefully a change of formation is on the cards now with 4231.

What are peoples thoughts though on the effect Mata will have on our squad? How will we shape up?
and more pertinently will we realistically be able to bring anyone else in this week (to stop us having to get about 5 or 6 in the Summer)?

Banter

Just Read Mata's Letter
I do feel for the lad. Obviously not for having to join us, but from going to Hero to Obsolete having done nothing to deserve it. One part sort of stung though, However I could be taking it out of context. He was talking about he exclusion from the Chelsea squad and states.

'Football is a team sport and it's not easy to play regularly in such a good squad.'

So To me that is him saying what we all know but don't want to hear. Our Squad does not offer him a lot of competition?

Jrobbm

1.) Well, it doesn't offer him too much competition. He is a world class player and will be a regular starter on the left hand side of the three behind the striker. Rooney when fit will always play the number 10 role and Januzaj or Valencia will play on the right. Januzaj should play most of the time but I do think that he needs some of the pressure taking off of him. Kagawa will also feature too of course. They will all get games but Rooney and Mata are definitely going to be the 'main men' for two of the three positions.

Banter.

Where to start. Well first point of call. the embarrassment that is reading these forms. To say we are meant to be supporters and fans. Just all Neigh Sayers. Well with exception to the those who clearly know what they are talking about and put thought into posts.

We do not deserve to be 2:0 down. Infact the only that separates Chelsea from us so far this game is strikers. News flash ours are Injured so was always going to be tough.
We are not playing 4 4 2. Its 5 in Mid with Januzaj with licence to roam.

We Looked solid in the middle, Januzaj has looked superb.
We just need that spark up front.
Transfer's are needed But PLEASE stop with all the doom and gloom. Don't be so quick to Right Moyes off.

I'm scared to watch the second half though XD haha Someone hold my hand

Jrobbm

1.) Dear sir
The difference is the strikers?!
The defense is the worst in the upper half of the whole league
The midfield barely can create
Only one young Belgian boy playing soccer
It's amazing how you failed to see how poor the whole team is
And very poor tactics to boot
gan

2.) Gan, poor tactics?

We were the best team in the first half, and had a few clear cut chances. If we'd put a few chances away, everyone would have been on saying how good the tactics were. As it was, a deflection, and 2 set pieces went against us. How is that down to poor tactics? Bad luck and poor defending, coupled without anyone in red who can finish, yes. They've hardly steamrolled us.

3.) I turned off from gan's post when he said 'soccer'

4.) AJH

Why mate, might it suggest he's from a foreign country and therefore none of his points are valid?

Grow up, take your little red specs off.

Mort Could not agree and less. He showed incredible loyalty to Athletico, He could have left before but chose to stay rather than leave them short handed after there transfer ban. He has traits that I am not fond of, his social media usage etc however this seems to be a common thing in the game these days. He's a game winner with ambition and ability by the bucket full. He'd be an incredible signing. Issue I have is would it stifle the development of our young superstars.

He has done this many times before. He puts the Spotlight on him. He is protecting the players, there has been a slump and he knows negative attention from the media on them won't help. The Media has to be attacking united, always has. So he gives them a story rather than running something else more distracting and destructive to the morale of our players.

He is the master of the media. He is a great manager. Our style has gone backwards however this is our strongest season in some years. Losing Pogba has had a massively negative effect. wasn't seen right away but its been apparent more recently.

Surely I can't be the only guy who would love to see how nani performs for LVG. He had a great season on loan. God I'd love to see some of that old magic back. I know he's had a lot of chances but I got a soft spot for him. That arsenal game those years ago. That's class

Oh man. Vidal is a beast, I'd prefer Pogba however I'd say Vidal is a better player now but Pogba has everything to be a Level above him.

Personally I really rate the guy, I think he has so much potential. I know he divides opinions around here however out of all our CB's He's my favorite.

Beast Seriously. did you say you are not sure about McNair as he was out done by Augero and Yaya. on a couple of occasions. So the kid was undone by 2 of the best players in the league a couple of times. Seems excessive if you ask me. he will grow and grow. His performances have been so impressive. His Attitude has been top notch too, throwing himself into everything

To me I can't see us holding him if a Spanish giant comes knocking. I expect they will also. DDG is sheer Class, Its unfortunate however What team can hold on to their players when they are after them?
