The Premier league is a different type of league to others in Europe, firstly you need to be physically strong as it is very competitive and aggressive. Secondly you need a very good first touch, you just don't get time on the ball, your touch and movement has to be very good and quick. While some European players are technically very good they are not strong enough for the league, then you have the big strong lads who's first touch is poor and can't pass. It's a tough league and doesn't suit all players that's why some of our ex players excel in other leagues. Getting the right players with the right abilities is not easy. Some great players in Europe just wouldn't survive in the Premier League.

Exactly, but some seem to think just because the likes of Gomes doing ok in France, he should come back…. not a chance I say.

Another thing that the best players and more importantly teams need to do well is pass the ball with thought about the recieving players first touch and direction of movement. I get frustrated watching United pas the ball in a way that the recieving player has to stop any momentum. Look at van dyke and donate for example, they are always gaining yards when passing the ball to each other and pushing the rest of the team up and closing down spaces if the ball is lost.

I think it's ts more a mental than a physical thing. David and Bernardo Silva are both slight but are excellent players, and there are many more.
Scott is doing really well in Italy, being played in a different position. Those people who say it's an easier league, will tell us to sign Gyokores, who is playing in Portugal.
Antony is an example of a player for whom the OT stage seemed overwhelming. His talent is not in question, but his mentality is.
Rashford is another who seems to gave issues to sort out.
In SAF's days, we used to focus on the character of potential targets, it seems we don't do that any more.

Both Silva’s are a totally different level to anything we got, when you have that level of technical ability and brain to match, you can receive the ball at any level or any velocity and have the brain to see 2 steps ahead, to turn away from danger or release a perfect pass, that’s the difference, we seem to struggle to locate and buy those players!

That's been a bug bear of mine for years, Peter. Lost count of the times I've shouted 'pass it in front of him' at the TV. Even the 5 or 6 yard passes between defenders coming out of defence nearly always entail the receiving player having take a half-step backwards.

Utd need a passing central midfielder. A metronome who can dictate the game.
I don't know if Gomes is good enough to fulfil this role in the Premier League, but Utd need someone to control the midfield. They've not had anyone since Carrick.
