What is everyone's favourite moment/memory from watching and supporting Manchester United? Like the moment that really stands out to you? Be interesting to see from the different generations of fans. Mines the solksjear goal in the 99 European cup final

GD

1.) 25 Feb 2013
GD, I agree.

Sydney!

2.) 25 Feb 2013
There are sooo many to choose from so I would have to give it greater thought but the first one that always springs to my mind is the Sheringham equalizer in the same game. I know Solskjaer won it but that Sheringham goal still gives me goosebumps. I went from my lowest low, in football terms, to my highest high.

3.) 25 Feb 2013
John Terry's slip that set us off to win the champions league!

4.) 25 Feb 2013
Roy keane's header against Inter

5.) 25 Feb 2013
It has to be 'and Solskjaer has won it' unbelievable feeling!

Also the Moscow final win, Terry slipping and Van der Sar saving from Nasty Nic - great times!

Two others Giggs' semi final winner v Arsenal and scholes screamer against barca :) BELIEVE

6.) 25 Feb 2013
United v arsenal semi of the fa cup the game had everything

7.) 25 Feb 2013
Cantona's volley in the cup final against liverpool, absolutely brilliant

Winston

8.) 25 Feb 2013
Live. lee sharpe hatrick at arsenal in the cup. what a night.

but all games I have seen has to solskjaer tooo. beer all over the pub and 10-20 minutes of just going mental.

9.) 25 Feb 2013
Agreed although I love the 1999 2-3 away win at juventus after being 2-0 down and juventus having an away goal. Keane getting one back and cole scoring near the end. My favourite game. The tussle between zidane & Davids on one side and Keane & Scholes on the other was a thing of beauty.

10.) 25 Feb 2013
As well as those mentioned, solskjaer scoring 4 in 20 minutes against forest will stick with me even when i'm a senile old man

11.) 25 Feb 2013
It has to be that 2 min spell in 1999. I could not watch the match because I had to take violin Lessons. Please, don't ask. I had caught Bayern's goal just before leaving and was sick heading off. When my dad showed up I ran to the car wanting to know what the score was. He said the tv signal is gone but the last time he checked United were one down with 15 min to play. I was devastated, but told him to hit the gas. I ran into the house and tried to perform a kind of exorcism on the box. What happens next, I sh*t you not. When the t. v finally relented and the white noise cleared, I saw one Teddy Sheringham foot swiping at the ball and bedlam ensued. The timing couldn't have been better. I didn't even see Giggs original shot.

12.) 25 Feb 2013
Hughes goal in cup winners cup v Barcelona was about 16yrs old and never screamed so loud in excitment

13.) 25 Feb 2013
Also from the 99 season it has to be the slalom run from giggs, schmeicals save kept us in it and then with 1 man down we saw the goal that set us up for the cl win. If not for that goal and the confidence and belief it gave us I don't think we'd have had the belief to produce the comeback against bayern.

Red Bear

14.) 25 Feb 2013
Clearly I'm older than most of you! FA Cup semi final, 1983 vs Arsenal. They scored first and then Robson and Whiteside both scored to secure a 2-1 win. I was 18, it was Villa Park, and all the goals were scored at our end. The atmosphere was unbelievable. Google the game on YouTube.

15.) 25 Feb 2013
Mine is 1967, my first Man Utd match, we win 1-7 at West Ham to clinch the title, my great memory is of Sir Matt walking round the pitch very close to me as I sat on the wall. from that point on I as man Utd daft and still am!

16.) 25 Feb 2013
Most would say the 99 CL final and I will never forget that night

There are a few others, Whiteside scoring at Wembley in 85, Stapleton against Liverpool in 77 but one night stood out from them and that was the moment Stapleton scored the third against Barcelona at OT in 84. For many of us who were there that night it was truly special and at a time when success like that was not common plus Maradona at his peak was on the Barcelona team to witness one of our great nights

17.) 25 Feb 2013
Not really a moment but the fa cup replay against arsenal for me, what a game! It just had absolutely everything with the sending off and then the penalty save I remember just thinking when they won the pen that that was that! Just magic!

Jamal

18.) 25 Feb 2013
Red Man, age is catching up with you. Stapleton didn't sign until '81, remember he scored against us in the '79 final.

19.) 25 Feb 2013
AJH

Thanks it was Pancho Pearson I was thinking of in 77

20.) 25 Feb 2013
Scholes thunder bolt againt villa

21.) 25 Feb 2013
More recent one that will always be clear in my mind.

Rooney's overhead bicycle kick winner against City.

Ozwald

22.) 25 Feb 2013
George Best's lob against Spurs in '71

23.) 25 Feb 2013
V stoke October 82. Goosebumps as I stepped into OT for the first time.
V derby 88 first time on my own as a 16 year old thinking I was the man ha ha
V Blackburn 93 just the best feeling I've had as a united fan
Barca 99 wasn't a memorable evening felt low and miserable and I'm sorry to say I left early! Can't say I can ever remember doing it before or since, so I never saw the teddy or ole goals. But dear me my mood was lifted.

24.) 25 Feb 2013
Rooney vs Aston Villa.

van der Sar lumps it up the pitch, Rooney one touch, BANG volley into the roof of the net.

I think it just epitomises our counter attacking football style, brilliant goal.

25.) 26 Feb 2013
For me I think its a tie between the Ole goal and Rooneys overhead kick against City.

Dan

26.) 26 Feb 2013
Oh and Giggs' goal against Arsenal in the 99 FA cup. Mostly because I ran into the kitchen table celebrating.

Dan

27.) 26 Feb 2013
Besides the obvious, Macheda's goal against Villa was amazing.

28.) 26 Feb 2013
Besides the obvious ones, nobody remembers the Owen's strike against City in 96th minute. {Ed004's Note - Welbecks first goal and Ronaldo against Sporting Lisbon}

29.) 26 Feb 2013
Obviously Ole '99, along with all the memories of that season - Giggsy, Keano, Cole-Yorke. I haven't been watching United that long (since 96-97, I think - and not too sure because I have a horrible memory), but some of the recent ones:
1. JT f*&^ing it up at Moscow
2. Machedaaaaa!
3. Mickey Owen, 4-3 mate!
4. Ronnie's specials against Portsmouth, and Arsenal CL semi final
5. Big RVN fan here - the one I remember is against Arsenal again (FA Cup 1-1, if memory serves me right), where he took the ball in his own half, nutmegged fat Sol and put in a classic RVN finish.
6. Rooney's bicycle kick
7. Berbatrick against pool - was at a hotel, missing my friends and family, slightly smoked up, and I remember thinking in my ultra slow-motion state "he's not going to backvolley, is he? FFS, just lay it off!" And then everything erupted!
8. Most recently I went completely mental when Hernandez flew in to score the winner off MC16's brilliant pass against the Geordies. Scared my 4 year old with my reaction, LOL

30.) 26 Feb 2013
Sorry, name's Cj from India - cheers, all!

31.) 26 Feb 2013
Rooney's volley against Nwcastle. Running onto the ball and just watching it fly into the net.

PS_ginganinja

32.) 26 Feb 2013
Michael Owen's injury time winner vs Citheh! Also agree with the Rooney overhead, unbelievable Tekkers.

Pab Jnr

33.) 26 Feb 2013
1. andy coles goal against juve and the commentators "full speed ahead barcelona"
2. cantona against sunderland celebration

34.) 26 Feb 2013
Solkjear possibly the best moment, though a pretty dire game let's be honest. Have to agree the v Arsenal semi had everything. In a pub full of rowdy rough Arsenal fans on my own I somehow managed to stifle a cheer when Schmeichel savel Berkamps penalty. the Giggs goal though, let's just say I drunk up and left very shortly after that! Also though we went out The Utd v Real game with Ronaldos hat trick, just crazy attacking football at its best. I still believe.5more minutes we would have done it!

A few of them have already been covered. But one that I can't forget.

The entire 7-1 demolition of Roma. With what our fans faced at 1st leg, the perfect response. And Smudge gettin' a goal.

Deeps.

26 Feb 2013 10:50:37
meeting and chatting to Sir Matt Busby and Alex Ferguson on the same day in the car park at Old Trafford just before Arthur Albiston's testimonial in May 1988 - priceless

37.) 26 Feb 2013
I think the 99/00 season gave us so many great moments and great matches. The Champions League final minutes was epic, but the group stages were fantastic from a footballing persepective 2 2-2 draws with Bayern, 2 3-3 draws with Barcelona and then the thrashings handed out to Brondby.

I loved the 5-3 against Spurs with Glen Hoddle saying something like its always dangerous to go 3 up against United, and although we didn't win the tie the mantches against Real Madrid - Redondo leaving Berg was an amazing bit of skill.

38.) 26 Feb 2013
Robbo 2 Stapleton 1 final score on night 3-0, on agg 3-2 v Maradona lead Barca, what a night, it took a week to get my voice back.

39.) 26 Feb 2013
Two maybe out of the norm ones for me.

1. Big Pete doing what IMO is the best save ever v Rapid Vienna.

2. Keane offering Vieria a go at him in the tunnel and watching PV pap himself.

40.) 26 Feb 2013
The European Cup Winners Cup 2nd Leg 1984 against Maradona's Barcelona. Two goals from Captain Marvel and the winner from big Frank Stapleton. Without doubt the greatest comeback seen at Old Trafford.

Neil

41.) 26 Feb 2013
Giggs' goal v Arsenal in 99 and John Terry slipping to miss the penalty

42.) 26 Feb 2013
Although there are many many moments since my first game in around 83. for me bruce getting them 2 against sheff wed and fergie and kidd going mental. has to be one of my favourite moments

43.) 26 Feb 2013
I know we all have great memories of winning goals, Barcelona 99, even called my son Ole. But not for that reason, for the red card he got against Newcastle when we couldn't afford to lose. What a player to sacrifice yourself for the result. that's why to me he's 2O LEgend

RD73

44.) 26 Feb 2013
I agree the 7-1 was something.

the two come-back against tottenham are up there with the best memories

JLBER84

45.) 26 Feb 2013
And not 1 mention of the goal that made beckham or rooneys debut hat-trick. In my 20 years of supporting united and the years prior we've been treated to some special players, managers and moments.

46.) 26 Feb 2013
John Terry penalty miss

47.) 26 Feb 2013
Ed 004 - I think it was Ronnie's 40 yard screamer against Porto?

Deeps. {Ed004's Note - Sorry Porto haha}

48.) 26 Feb 2013
Cantona's return against Liverpool very emotional along with Scholes equilizing in the San Siro & possibly putting 9 goals past ipswich
way too many

49.) 26 Feb 2013
Folran v Liverpool at Anfield or Carricks opener in the 7 - 1 win over Roma in OT

50.) 26 Feb 2013
Ole last minute winner against Liverpool at Old trafford

51.) 26 Feb 2013
Great idea GD!
Mine would be Nicky Butt. Beat three men, played a one- two with Scholes and hammered it in from 25 yards. West Ham, early noughties?
Steve

52.) 26 Feb 2013
All off Van the Mans Goals. A true striker who was made to leave well before his time. Rant Over Sorry Guys

53.) 26 Feb 2013
Minds got to be watching utd beat barcelona at ot with maradona in their side! a robson brace!

54.) 26 Feb 2013
Thanks steve I was going to put a post up today saying 7 days. But I didn't want us to fall out again haha

GD

55.) 26 Feb 2013
Ronaldo vs Porto

Ronaldo's header vs Roma

Solskjaer vs bayern

The 32 pass goal vs panathanaikos

To name but a few…

56.) 26 Feb 2013
For me it was when we played Liverpool at Anfield when Norman Whiteside was a mere boy. he had been getting a bit of a reputation due to his "style" of play and it was all over the papers that Souness was going to tame the bad boy. not long into the match the two had a bit of a tussle and Whiteside nearly cut Souness in half and as he lay on the floor Whiteside just glowered down at him lol

57.) 28 Feb 2013
I've already seen it in a previous post but for me, that night against Uventus, away mind going two goaks downt to one of the classiest teams in Europe, we were down and out, pride is all we had to play for. But what haooened next? We pulled off one of the best comebacks I've ever seen live to win 3-2, which incidently set us on course for the glorious treble. The final was amazing, but we had to get there first, and with true grit and determination, that Juventus game will always be special to me

58.) 28 Feb 2013
Giggs against Arsenal in the 99 FA Cup semi. Down to 10 men, big Peter saves penalty. 10 men United under the cosh, then Viera's pass is wayward and Giggs picks it up. He runs this way, then that slaloming past defender after defender. Arsenals back 4 back then was a really top back 4 too. On went Giggs, Dixon, Adams etc just can't get near him. Then the finish, a thunderous left foot shot that Seaman didn't even see, let alone save. What a game, what a season, what a goal, what a moment
