Did I miss something yesterday? I thought we played pretty poorly, kept a clean sheet, gained an away point. I wasn't happy with how we played but reading this site you would think the world had ended. The 'I told you so' brigade are out in force, how foolish they will look if we click into gear (yes Beast, I know you think we won't) .

I've been critical but come on guys some of you need to calm down. Deep breaths, stiff drink, your going to have a seizure if you keep this up.

Yeah, it can get embrassing sometimes reading this site, it's almost like some want us to do poorly just so they can come on hear and say I told you so.

AJH, I don't think anyone is worried that the world is going to end or even that our results have been that bad. But after 15 months and a couple of hundred million it's beginning to dawn on people that the master plan is to keep possession, knock it sideways and backwards for 90 minutes and hope we bore the opposition into gifting us a goal just for some excitement.

People keep talking about us 'kicking into gear'. But boring possession football is this team kicking into gear. It's the team implementing the philosophy. I'm not sure about you but most people believe that football is intended to be a form of entertainment, and our team is sacrificing any semblance of entertainment for the sake of one man's ego trip.

Danny, I've been clear that for me entertainment is paramount, people say it will be worth it if we win something but I disagree. There is a Unted philosophy that is currently being strangled by LVG's although I've no idea what his philosophy is, passing backwards and sideways endlessly is no way to win a game.

My orignal point was not to hide from how dire we are but to highlight that a few posters feel the need to post the same dramatic emotional things time and time again. I love the discussion, debate, and argument, just getting bored with the overblown drama.

0-0 at a very average Palace is a point gained in your view? That's maybe where you and us "we told you so brigade" differ in that I don't see a point against palace as a point gained, rather 2 lost. If you want to challenge you have to be winning these type of games. And when you spend £250m you expect too. Expectations have stooped low with some fans. In 12 months times will you still be saying "if we click into gear? ". For 18 months I'm yet to see it and don't believe for one second we will.

I think at times we see glimmers of how LVG actually sees his philosophy working when we speed things up and play with more pace. Some of the football when we do that is brilliant and we really worry defenders when we do this.

Unfortunately we did it for about 60 minutes against Everton and for about 5 minutes in various other games but then resort back to it being way too slow again.

As you say AJH passing it slowly backwards and sideways is no way to win a football match, he is a clever man and knows about football, that can't be how he sees it happening. If we played at 4th or 5th gear instead of first gear in the first half of games we could be 2 or 3 up like we were at Everton, so it confuses me why we don't do that more often, if it happens then we will actually be quite good and the quick passing can actually be very entertaining If done correctly.

{Ed025's Note - i agree GDS..

So the question is GDS why are the players not picking up the tempo?

Angel,

Great question and I have no idea what the answer is to that.

Stand,

I think what AJH was saying is that it was a decent point in a tough game that could have easily been a defeat, nobody is delighted with a point but it's better than the alternative of no points. You can't say 'If we want to challenge we have to win these games' like no team has ever drawn a tough away game and gone on to win the title before. We have won the league in the past by 1 or 2 points, a draw in a game we could have lost might have won us the league that season, we didn't win every game under Sir Alex as much as some people would have you believe.
