Now that January transfer window is nearly upon us, James Rodriguez seems to be the talk. What do people think? Personally, I've never rated him and he's another player who will slow the game down.
I would much rather we looked at Isco who has a lot more energy. But we should be looking to get a striker and right winger and centre back before any other position.

James Rodriguez is a great player, genuinely world class and would be an improvement on what we have.

He prefers to play as a No.10 but is just as comfortable on the wings.

He probably wouldn't be my first choice, but he is far from a bad choice.

No chance of James leaving Real Madrid, he end up signing a new contract with them, has too much value and it's going to take in the region of the 100 million area to get Madrid to think about selling

So who the three other players? I'm guessing De Gea is one.

At a time when we need a pacy winger and goal scoring forward why on Earth would we look to buy yet another number 10, good player but another with no pace and for a very large fee? Isco is also a good player but another with no pace. James is not for me and madness to spend big on, it would signal our desperation to be seen as big again. The Ed said weeks ago that James sells well in South America and maybe the club might have a commercial deal lined up for there.

I'd love to see a move for James, to play centrally though, as I feel pace on the wings is more important. James behind Martial going forward could be lethal with James creativity and Martial's movement.

Ed02 Isn't Jorge Mendes De Gea agent? I'm sorry to disagree but Madrid must be in constant contact with Jorge Mendes over De Gea plus Madrid have a vast amount Jorge Mendes clients at Madrid ie Ronaldo, Pepe, Coentrao etc.

Fresh, my choice for the right would be Mane, he has great pace, a consistent end product and is settled and proven in the premier league. If we aren't able to get him then I would go for Leroy Sane.
Pretty much because he is like Mane but spelled with an S instead of an M. Lol.
Joking obviously. But I would go for Sane as imo he is the best young wide player in Europe atm and he has the highest potential. Yes he is inconsistent but he is fast, strong but he has a massive footballing IQ which means he is more likely to fullfil his potential. He's like a young Mata but with Bales pace and frame.

Wouldn't be a hit every game, but worth it in the end.

Mendes might not be popular with Madrid but nothing to stop him from shopping his clients around, if Mendes really wanted to he could easily convince Ronaldo to leave Madrid in the summer, Mendes is a like a brother to Ronaldo, a vast of teams would easily pay his wages and the transfer fee demanded, Madrid cannot afford to lose Ronaldo just yet, the amount of money he generates for the club.

Different league and a different team. Its a huge step up. Some make it well like RvN others such as Kezman or Alfonso Alves struggle.

I'm sure Depay will improve and hopefully he will be able to reach his full potential, but that will depend on him and how much work he is prepared to put in.

The Sane isn't as powerful as Depay but may be a shade faster. Its hard to tell without them having a race. But Sane is far more intelligent and has a more natural technique. Depay is more like a wide forward, he is looking to goal without much concern for his team mates, were as Sane is more of a winger/ No.10 and plays with his head up much more.

But in any great team you need both kinds of players.

I think they are both equally as talented. Depay had definately achieved more prior to his move to us than Sane has at the moment. But Depay is two years older and has spent more time playing first team football. So it would be a worry if he hadn't.

Sane is making waves at a younger age and in a tougher league. He has yet to hit the heights Depay achieved before his move, but all the potential is there.

They are slightly different players, and they tend to play on opposite sides of the pitch. Both hugely talented.

I wouldn't suggest signing him as a replacement for Depay, but to play along side him. I think their styles would work well with one who plays mpre with his head down while the other plays with his head up. Either side of Martial we could have a terrorfying front three for the best part of a decade.

you posted about getting rid of depay last week if we bought sane, who i don't think is at the level depay was last season or close to it to be honest, what would you expect of him in the first few month before you wanted him sold?
