A question for one of the Eds and posters.

Do you have any updates or news with Jesse Lingard. Is it true that he recently signed with Raiola as his agent?

shane88

{Ed002's Note - Sort of. Jesse Lingard (/RM/AM) knows that Manchester United see him as potentially being surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and that the current coach is not keen on him - so. not unreasonably. there is an ad hoc agreement with Mino that allows him to look for other options for the player. Right now I am aware there have been approaches to several sides and that a couple might be open to making a formal approach, but there remains a concern that as an English player there is a high risk if he were to move to mainland Europe - so the interest could easily wane. Interest in England I am told is thin on the ground although at least two sides have been approached. I suspect the summer and decisions yet to be agreed at the club will define whether he stays or goes.}

Thanks as always for the wonderfully detailed inside info Ed002: very much appreciated.

Might I be cheeky and read between the lines regarding your comment about decisions yet to made and the impact on whether Lingard stays: might this allude to United changing managers in the summer please?

If so - and I appreciate this is very speculative - might you have any inside info about United’s thoughts about Solkjaer, changing him in the Summer and who might they have spoken to please?

Thanks again for any info you might impart.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained about Solkjaer before - nothing has changed.}

2.) 05 Feb 2020 09:52:34
No worries, thanks as always for your brilliant input to the site.

3.) 07 Feb 2020 21:01:58
In reply to ed002. As supporters we are not bright enough to realise Ed Woodward is not buying and selling players, neither is ogs. With no dof. Who is actually making the decisions to buy/ sell negotiate for Man Utd?

{Ed002's Note - Right - but why should yopu now sart attacking others you know nothing of?}

1.) 04 Feb 2020 20:32:54
ED is there a plan for what's going to happen with Chris Smalling?

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United have no plans but Roma want him still - they would have had him in January but for the amateurs.}

2.) 04 Feb 2020 21:00:31
Thanks for the information Ed002. Have a good week.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

3.) 05 Feb 2020 00:11:16
Thanks Ed.

Ole has been made permanent manager. For 3 years.

09 May 2018 22:25:39
Thoughts on Mertens to United this summer. Would you take him?

shane88

1.) 10 May 2018 08:28:58
Not too sure how true it is, but I believe he has a relatively low release clause of around £20-25 million.

Without getting into release clauses etc. If he were available for a fee of this amount he may be worth a punt.

2.) 10 May 2018 15:23:49
Agree necks for that price why not. But he is 29 hitting 30 so wouldn’t be he cleverest move. Especially if we are moving for Willian. Would much prefer to try keep martial and play rashford centrally more by rotating him with Lukaku. Otherwise I would love to see us go for Justin kluivert looks very talented.

3.) 10 May 2018 15:57:41
Out of rashford and martial I'd rather martial play centrally.

4.) 10 May 2018 17:39:01
He is a good player but he is too old. We need to build like City and like Utd of old younger players please.

5.) 10 May 2018 23:41:10
Good shout Park, Kluivert does look a great talent.

6.) 10 May 2018 23:48:56
Kluivert off to roma reports in holland are saying.

7.) 11 May 2018 17:12:08
Players of youth under Mourinho. Isn't going to happen. Mourinho wants players ready to go or the finish article not the next big thing.

04 Dec 2017 12:13:59
Hi Eds. Just wondering do you expect Manchester United to attempt and get either or both Alexis Sanchez and Ozil in either the January transfer window or this summer?

shane88

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer sensibly about when transfers will happen but MU have not shown any interest in Alexis Sanchez. Oezil might be a possibility at some point.}

1.) 04 Dec 2017 16:21:38
Wish we had purchased Sanchez in the summer
Yeah would had possibly been £50m as in last year of contract, however we’d be so much stronger this year going forward.
If had the choice this coming summer when both are free, I’d still only take Sanchez. Ozil half of the time you forget he’s on the pitch
Should Zlatan not extend another year, use some of his wages to lure Sanchez.

2.) 04 Dec 2017 18:35:39
Thank Ed002 as always.

Would you guys take a gamble on Eriksen?
Think he been brilliant for Brentford.

shane88

1.) 24 Apr 2022 20:52:43
If EtH is interested in him then I don't see it as a risk. PL proven, free transfer and could add an additional dimension for the next year or so. We have so many holes to fill that looking at a few free transfers might make sense.
If it happens I hope that we do something with our youth/ young players to take over in a year or 2.

2.) 24 Apr 2022 21:32:41
One of my favourite moments of the season was when he and Williams tumbled to the ground. Williams went to square up realised who it was and gave him a hug instead.

Might make the self little turds we have at Old Trafford think about their lot in life too.

I think Erikson has been through enough already without turning out for the dirge this squad have served up, he deserves better.

3.) 24 Apr 2022 22:34:43
Erikson? Yes please. An inspiration, great player, and smart business.

4.) 24 Apr 2022 23:40:54
He is great, very creative with both feet and would be far more effective than PP at a fraction of the wage bill.

I suspect he may have other suitors who could offer him UCL though. Also, would only be a good selection if ETH is pushing for him. If not, then leave this type of big name established signing alone. Let ETH work with a squad that he has some input into.

So I don't post on here anymore. Infact I can't remember the last time I did

I like to hop on and get a idea in what the club planning to do in terms of the club though, to see if their a chance of a change.

So I decided to boycott the club (no money invested) and find other interest in life, the moment you stopping enjoying and find it affect you mentally, I stepped away. The Super League started it, treating fans as ATM machines helps aswell.

Honest opinion Rangnick is managing the club with hands tied his back, nothing new personally. He not the first and won't be the last. If your any decent manager, why would you want to manage this club.

Only way you going to hurt the club is hitting them in the pockets.

I think we need something major to happen ie Glazers to sell up. Only way change will happen.

Anyone say we the new Arsenal. I think we the new Everton infact. Infact we become a parody of a football club.

But I'm only one fan.

shane88

1.) 07 Feb 2022 22:06:39
We’re the old Liverpool who struggled a decade ago.

2.) 07 Feb 2022 22:37:05
You might be right, but give the guy a chance and let's see what happens this summer. You never know. We might finally have turned a corner. Rangnick may be playing it intentionally low key but actually has the backing of the owners to instigate the clear out on and off the field.

3.) 08 Feb 2022 07:19:40
Imitation is the highest form of flattery Wallace ;) but I wouldn’t say you are where we were a decade ago.

We were coming out of the hodgson period which included konchesky, poulsen and David ngog. Your team is full of big names and quality players but the club needs to change how it’s run before you see change on the pitch.

But with City, Chelsea, us whilst we have Klopp and the possible emergence of Newcastle. Your route back to the top isn’t going to be an easy one.

4.) 08 Feb 2022 08:54:36
A lot will immediately state that we need to get the glazers out, and whilst it may be a preference it is not the complete answer. If we are still employing the back slappers and friends of friends to run the club and make decisions on a daily basis, we will be nowhere near, back to competing for silverware. The decline also started long before SAF retired imo and we simply, as a club, bury our head in the sand by holding onto the "we are man utd" ethos. Possibly Ed002, gave us on here a no holds barred insight that we are not a must go to outfit in uk football and we haven't been in european for a decade: unless of course, mercenaries please apply within, counts.
I think we will huff and puff tonite and scrape a result to gloss over the issues at the club and go again Saturday, but feel the club are seriously in danger of not needing silver polish for the next 5/ 6 years.

5.) 08 Feb 2022 10:13:37
I'd say we are more like the Liverpool of 30 years ago rather than 10.

Jobs for the boys, thinking our recent/ historical success entitles us to more success.

Reluctant to move the club forward and embrace modern football, stuck in the past.

08 Jul 2020 13:51:26
Griezmann. Yes or No

And where would he fit into the team if you took him?

shane88

1.) 08 Jul 2020 14:12:27
No, his attitude is an issue. We don't want more circus around the club.

2.) 08 Jul 2020 14:14:52
No, thus no need to answer the follow up :)

3.) 08 Jul 2020 14:31:23
No, and he's where he deserves to be. on the Barcelona bench.

4.) 08 Jul 2020 14:45:30
No. Cannot bear another narcissistic decision reveal video.

5.) 08 Jul 2020 15:26:51
No but as a false 9 with Martial/ Rashford and Greenwood sounds good.

6.) 08 Jul 2020 16:46:55
We have enough problems of our own, we don't need to solve barcelonas problems as well.

Over the past few years they have made some questionable/ ridiculous recruitment decisions and they look to have wasted messi’s prime years when it comes to champions league success as a result.

7.) 09 Jul 2020 06:50:35
No. Just NO!

02 Apr 2020 14:47:39
Do we have any readers (including Eds) that can recommend any good football books to read. Recently read a really good book called "Soccernomics" which gives a really good insight to how football really works. Highly recommended.

shane88

{Ed002's Note - I almost never read football books but would recommend "The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw - The Robin Friday Story" (because it is a good story) and "Third Lanark - Life and Death of the Hi Hi" (because they are on the come back trail).

1.) 02 Apr 2020 17:23:08
I don't know much about soccer books but for the few autobiographies i have read. However, I did chance upon a series, 'Sunderland till I die' and in the absence of footy, it is a good watch, even more so for black cat fans.

2.) 02 Apr 2020 17:34:53
Soccernomics is brilliant as is 'Inverting the Pyramid'. Zlatan's biography is brilliant cause the bloke is nuts. Also The Mixer is great for Premier League nostalgia. And Ancelotti's biography is fantastic to read- bloke exudes knowledge and confidence.

3.) 02 Apr 2020 19:38:06
Keane’s second book is pretty good, heled me see a different side to him.

4.) 02 Apr 2020 20:54:33
Tottenham the PL glory days

Oh wait.

5.) 03 Apr 2020 04:13:03
Robin Friday the English George best, absolute legend.

6.) 03 Apr 2020 13:17:05
If you are pushed for time and just want a quick read I heartily recommend "Arsenal's Champion League Winners".

{Ed047's Note - or another good one is “How to get mugged off for almost £900 million in the transfer market” by the legend that is Ed Woodward. 😉

7.) 04 Apr 2020 21:34:26
Nice one Ed 47.

{Ed047's Note - I loved the Arsenal one too mate! 🤣

31 Mar 2020 13:13:20
Do people still want Jack Grealish now? It's a no for me.

shane88

1.) 31 Mar 2020 15:25:26
Never did, the guys has the wrong attitude and limited ability. Bug fish, small pond. Stay well. away from him.

2.) 31 Mar 2020 21:01:11
I've never had any idea how he'd fit into our system. We have Bruno at CAM, Martial and Rashford for LW. We don't have a floating left sided role.

3.) 01 Apr 2020 08:50:25
Yes I would.

4.) 01 Apr 2020 11:48:16
Where would you play him? How would the team look? We need a right sided Rashford. And it won’t be Sancho.

5.) 01 Apr 2020 11:49:45
I wouldn't go for him, I think he would be a expensive flop.

If he wants to go, then let him go, he looking after himself which he has the entitlement to do so, he feels that he has 2-3 years left to win something individually before retirement

The club doesn’t need another episode of Lingard and Pogba even though I think Ronaldo would conduct himself more professionally if he was forced to stay

Ronaldo made that decision so we have to let him move on for the betterment of him and the club. He will be highly regarded and loved by the fans but I don’t think he be getting the Paul Scholes, Gary Neville treatment.

Wouldn't Tripper transfer depends on what happens with Dalot. Feel like it goes hand in hand. Think we should sell Dalot. He a wing back that more suited aboard. I can see Milan buying him or a Spanish team picking him up.

I think our squad as it is, is good enough to get a top 4 finish next season. That's our goal isn't it.

Another season of Cavani and I rather just develop Greenwood into the striker. No one going to pay any sort of fee for Martial. Probably get a ton of clubs happy to take him on loan though.

Defending is more about positioning and organisation. Pace, speed and height are generally your get out of jail card’s if your positioning and organisation is poor.

Anyone that wants to learn how to play defence should watch Paolo Maldini. Thought Cannavaro was a very good defender though, 100% times better than Nesta.

Club trying to save face and make it out Pogba wants to leave when he leave, Pogba will say something about the fans driving him out.

Good thing he not going City because he get found out as the most overrated player in the world, think he go and joint that Harlem Globetrotters team in France with the other clowns like Neymar and company.

Isn’t he doing some work with his home town team.

{Ed014's Note - is he trying to help Luke Shaw?

Incompetent people who are not at the required level and/ or desire to perform at the level required needed to be at the top. Let’s put it another way, if your worked for a business and your performances based your job security, then the majority of them should of be sacked already. Starts from the top and works through.

The Glazers as owners really need it wake up and since they are the owners, actually run the club, need to go through the club like a fine comb and evaluate everyone single person employed by the club and deem them suitable or non suitable.

Honest opinion, it won’t happen as it would of happened by now as you wouldn’t let yourself get to a situation where we are now, 10 years nearly since post Fergie. The moment you started to see a gradual and consistent decline they should of reacted. My moment I realised this was the case was Jose 2nd season after the Sevilla game.

So I personally came to decision that we have incompetent owners, run by incompetent people that have now got to the point that we have now a high percentage of incompetent football players.

Fixing this problem won’t happen as it’s means removing or forcing the Glazers to sell up as I feel they will make not the change’s needed. They need to wake up and smell the coffee, we are now becoming a parody. As they like to treat fans as a walking ATM. As a customer of their product, I deem that their product isn’t up to standard and will take my custom elsewear.

Protesting may affect the Glazers to a certain degree, but the best form is to stop spending money on the club, however it would take a extremely high level of percentage of fans to do this globally and a high percentage of season/ regular ticket fan’s aswell.

Individually you come to point as a fan, and question yourself is it worth it anymore, This year I’ve become a fan of football as a sport than being a fan of a club. It’s actually nice to be neutral towards everything and appreciate the good parts of the game. The only thing I have love and passion left for this club is the badge itself and what it represents. I will always support and love Manchester United as a club itself, but I’ve have no passion left for the people associated with the club.

Two players I would keep…. De Gea and Sancho, that’s it.

The rest, I be lucky if I got a fiver for the lot of them at my local Sunday car boot sale.
