So you would prefer LVG to have come out and said 'the midfield is crap, the defence is dreadful and the strikers aren't much better, we need to buy buy buy'. In what way would that have been beneficial?

The current players would have been annoyed because they are being told they aren't good enough (like Moyes did) and the teams selling will know how desperate we are for players.

I am trying by best on your other posts to not have a go at you but I have disagreed with everything you have posted today.

You really think lvg should have come out and said the players we have aren't good enough? That's what moyes did and look where it got him. I presume you backed moyes when he said that last year?

GDS2 teams already know that we are desparate, we finished 7th last season & changes are desperately needed. We paid £30 million for a teenage left back & £27 million for Herrera, both good players but very overpriced especially Shaw. I don't expect LVG to say we are crap but, he is taking advice from Giggs who yesterday told Redknap that if he was manager Rio would still be here. In my opinion there is to much of the old pals act going on for my liking. You also have Phil Neville on the payroll again, WHY. He was a Moyes man ( albeit an ex red ) & should have followed him out of the door. Chelsea, city, Liverpool, Arsenal have all strengthened what were better teams than us last season & so yes we are desperate to get at least in the top four. I really don't care if the players are upset, they were at fault for last seasons shambles just as much or even more than Moyes, the only difference is he was blamed for everything, now its there turn. If they are not good enough then hopefully LVG can get rid. I trust him, he's been there, done it, got the T shirt at 3 huge clubs hopefully soon to be 4.

Please chill out. I am sure LVG already knows the strengths and weaknesses of most of the United players, but he is not going to talk to us about it. Whatever the future he will want to get the best out of them and starting out by saying they are not good enough to compete is deflatingly Moysian. It's a kind of cover your ar. se form of management so that when things go wrong you can say, see, I told you we didn't have the talent.

Two years ago Cleverley looked like a good player, and one year ago Jordan Henderson looked like a complete waste of money. Could this be something to do with management rather than innate ability? Most of these players won a championship the season before last and were unlucky to lose to Real Madrid in the Champions League. Maybe Van Gaal sees potential where you do not. I have to say I think he has the better qualifications. Give him a chance.

Ash all you're posts are full of hate towards the player, manager, the board and the club. If you really hate United that much don't support them. Remember as fans we pay to watch a game of football, not to see your team win! If winning is all you care about then you're watching the wrong sport.

Can anyone tell me which utd defender or midfielder will get in to teams like
Real Madrid, barca, Munich, Psg, Chelsea or even man city.
The only one mite is Januzaj.
That's my point,
Utd need to act fast in this transfer window or 7th again.
Why I'm so upset with utd transfers is because Chelsea, arsenal, Liverpool and man city are stronger then us.

I think you need to chill out MR, LVG said what he needed to say in the press conference, it is as simple as that. I am glad you are not the manager and LVG is.

He said they are 'looking to find a job' for Phil Neville, which I think is a good idea, he has been there done that and can be a good influence on younger players.

You seem to be worrying and complaining about the wrong things (possibly just so you can complain about something) and it just comes across as a rant. You don't care if the players are upset, but you will if the players aren't motivated and happy when the season starts.

Ash - How many players do you think would want to come to a club if their manager could flip at any moment and call them all rubbish, without even speaking to them?

LVG said he knows all about the players, but he wants to see them for himself. Giggs is not trusted yet for the exact same reason, but LVG isn't going to say that. I am confident he knows exactly what needs to be done already, but sometimes it's important to pay lip service to ensure as much harmony as possible.

Blimey, drama queen alert.

DM hacked everyone off by being quite open that they weren't good enough. LVG has been round the block and is savvy. He will know what is needed but he is also renowned for getting the best out of players. You don't inspire confidence by talking about how many gaps there a or how many players you need. I think we will buy more but I also think 1 or 2 of our existing squad will surprise us.

My opinion is that 4 weeks gives lvg the following 1. Time to get to know the players as people and their personalities 2.see how players adapt to his ideas/philosophy 3. Assess youngsters and their suitability to progression to senior squad and 4. Try players in a few positions. I also agree he said what you would expect any half decent manager to say so as not to alienate players he has only just met. Personally I don't think their was anything controversial in it.

{Ed004's Note - Personally I think it is rubbish. I would be shocked if we haven't signed someone else in the next 4 weeks}

GDS2, I have read most of your posts and tbh you seem to spend most of your time having a dig at anybody who has the nerve to have a different opinion than you. As I said before I don't rate P Neville, that is my opinion & this is a banter site. IMO G Neville is the one we should seek out for helping our younger players, he comes across as very tactically astute & knowledgable. You say I just like to complain, well I pay my season ticket money & turn up week in week out, as I have done for over 40 years now. All I want is the best for my team, so if I have a gripe now & again its because I give a s£%t.

I love utd since I was a kid, go to nearly every match at OT.
Last year some matches was painful to watch, never felt like it since I was going from 1995.
Transfer window is so important to any club, act quick and get it right this time.
Utd way is always a winning way.
