Look, I've been giving LVG as much stick as anyone but yesterday I thought we had a bit more about us and 21 chances supports that. His English let's him down and some of his quotes are a bit dodgy but to heap criticism on him for yesterday is harsh. I guess when someone is down, everyone gives them a kicking.

I'd really like LVG to leave at the end of this year but a I don't think he will, he is reorganising and building a platform for the next Manager. the challenge at the end of 2017 is to find a Manager who can build on the platform and make us competitive (I don't think we are right. now) . I still think that man might be Giggs. I have no idea if he would be successful but the stick he gets on here is ridiculous. Gary Neville is flavour of the month despite also being completely unproven whilst Giggs is regularly dismissed as not having a clue. Red an often says it would be a huge risk (which it would) but stranger things have happened. If we assume Pep gets a new job at the end of this year and Carlo also starts with a new club, then everyone else is a risk. I liked the Mark Hughes suggestion but everyone seems to be obsessed with sexy foreigners.

Anyway, if we remain in the top 4 then I think LVG is here until 2017, all the posts about him moving on are just wishful thinking. And who knows what might change in the wider football world in the next 18 months?

Agreed, I said it straight after the game yesterday wasn't for the want of trying, other than a 10 minute spell where they could have scored 2 or 3 we were by far the better team and had plenty of opportunities to get the winner, it wasn't boring it was a pretty good 0-0 draw.

Unfortunately everyone has made their mind up, if that 0-0 had come in the middle of a decent spell where we are scoring a few goals people would have just put it down to 'one of those days' but as its come at a time we are struggling for goals in heaps more pressure on and it's just an extra stick to beat LVG with.

Anyone who watched that game yesterday can't say hand on heart that we didn't attack, we did, we just didn't get the goal. On the run we are on that isn't good enough, but as many have said they aren't interested in winning only the performance they shouldn't be too disheartened with yesterday.

AJH - I appreciate it's easy to kick a man when he is down, but 21 chances, come on mate?

We had one absolutely great chance for Fellaini which was defended well, a good chance for Martial. They had three better chances first half and that Zarate one which was better than any of ours.

The best platform we could have is a clean slate, that is why we need to not give him anymore money. Maybe an extra £200m this summer will enable him to have a few more chances created and converted, but the fundamental problems won't change. His style is wrong and the longer he "ruins" morale and breeds bad habits the more difficult it will be for his replacement to instil their ideas.

It will take 3 months of coaching just to get our players used to attacking at pace again as it is imo.

We didn't look very threatening despite looking to attack more. So what, we were at home against a very weak West Ham and the manager needed to make a statement. 0-0 and we deserved to lose on chances, so hardly a statement of attacking intent.

Very well said, AJH.

If there is any criticism of yesterdays performance, it was the lack of composure in front of goal IMO.

Gown the work Mark Hughes has done everywhere he's been (City aside) he should be considered for an interview at least. He's turning the anti-football that is Stoke City into a decent footballing side so he's got the experiencing following a manager who plays dull football.

I said it tongue in cheek turn other day but Sir Bobby really should take Louis out for a Christmas mulled wine and tell him what our great club is all about.

Having said all that, after the results this weekend we are still in the hunt!

"So what, we were at home against a very weak West Ham"

I respect your opinion beast, but that is bloody ridiculous mate. West Ham has won at City, Liverpool and Arsenal this season. They are difficult to beat and are well organised. They are far from being a weak side.

West ham a weak team? Although I agree we should be beating them at home they have taken points off us, city, arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. I think that's right so clearly West ham are not as weak as you suggest.

I've backed Lvg all along and aslong as he's our manager I will continue to do so but I am getting so frustrated with our last few games lack of urgency we have good players but the are all playing like robots.

Lvg has to loosen the shackles.

Oh and herrera when fit has to start every game with either schweinsteiger /schneiderlin or Carrick.

Beast, your in danger of cv Eco ingredients a caricature of yourself, like another poster. You know I've always respected your views but you post the same things after every game. We all know what the issues are but I think we just need to have a bit of fun oh here, it's getting terribly morbid.

Ok fair doos AJH. Now we are all on the same hymn sheet I suppose I can lay off for a bit. let's all have a nice Xmas period and see what January brings, I'm going to stop nailing the point home.

Tuor - West Ham have been crippled by injuries mate, the team we played was not the West Ham seen most weeks this season. I suppose we had our own injuries but they don't have much depth.

Like Jred I liked Reid's performance.

Point taken Beast. I still don't think they are a weak side though.

Like you mate, I am a passionate fan, and I am trying to remain both positive and open minded about the situation. I don't believe it is as dire as you do, but I respect where you are coming from and share many of your concerns.

I am hoping we can pull something out of the bag against Wolfsburg. A win there would help boost team confidence and give us fans something to smile about.

It all boils down to where you believe our rightful place is in world football. For me posatives should never be taken from a 0-0 home draw, against an average side. But there again I believe we should be up there with the top 3 squads in the world, just my opinion, it's not wrong or right, it's just mine.

We did try to attack west ham but that only happened because for first 45 mins we were woeful and they could and should have been 2 nil up. The team tried to attack in the second half, but we have a very young front line out there. Martial will be a good signing but he's not the answer to our CF problem. Lvg should have brought a top class experienced CF in the summer and Martial could then be used more sparingly and allowed to adapt slowly.
In addition, we didn't buy the quick right winger, Pedro, Shaqiri to name but two.
If we bought the CF and RW, then the nil nil draws would have turned into wins.
Lvg made a serious error of judgement by not replacing rvp, chicaritto and Falcao. Simple as that.
