Ok. can we please have a headcount of smiling happy people today. We got the much awaited "performance" today and we lost our defensive organisation due to that. So let's see how many people are happy. I know at least 3 who would actually b elated with performance. To hell with the result.

Personally I am gutted. I would have settled for a bore 1-0. Result over performance.

It shouldn't be a case of one or the other. I can't think of many managers that, given £250m+, couldn't build a team capable of being strong both offensively and defensively. In fact - I can only think of one.

All the people who said they wanted excitement and didn't care about results should be well chuffed.

how did we get the performance?
scored 1 plus 1 og and could of let 6 in .
we had to attack today due to previous results .
if we can't try to attack with out looking wide open we have major major issues.

This is the problem with some posters on here, it does not have to be one or the other, we can surely get a performance and a victory in the same match? can't we?

2 of the goals were from set pieces nothing to do with utd attackinjust piss poor defending especially straight after we had scored.

Had we been able to hold 1-0 for a little while perhaps we could have settled into a better defensive formation, but once we'd conceded that equalizer we were forced to resort to attack again. With Varela, Blind, and later, Borthwick-Johnson, as our back line, we were always at risk.

There was just a moment, when CSKA went ahead and we equalized, it looked like lady luck had turned in our favour, but ultimately that just made the night a little crueler and increased the sense of guttedness.

It was always going to be a long shot tonight. What concerns me now is whether we can cobble a decent team together by Saturday. How deflated will they feel?

At least they went out fighting - and it was far from boring.
