Evening all, haven't posted for a while but still reading.

There is obviously a lot of debate and discussion at the moment, and a lot of it is as usual blaming the manager, tactics, formations, team selections etc. But for me, the problems are much more simple and obvious.

Yet again, the players are not performing. Too many are just not pulling their weight (await the Rooney comments! ) . I remember SAF used to talk about courage - well our lot have none. No heart, no fight and no leadership. And most worryingly of all, half of them are nowhere near as good as they think there are, and indeed as good as the fans think they are.

I can forgive the new lads for a few weeks as they are still settling in, but as for most of the rest? Not good enough often enough.

Where do we go from here in terms of excuses? Moyes was not up to the job, LvG was a stubborn, arrogant dinosaur. Mourning is possibly one of the world's best managers in terms of short term success, which is what he has been brought in for. Yet now he is to blame. Is it really down to the manager all the time?

It is time for The players to pull their fingers out and start earning their ridiculous wages. Stop blaming everyone else and tactics and formations. Stop over complicating these debates on here with talk about "transition" and " third bloody phases", stop confusing players positions by calling for player X to play the "10 role" or player Y to play the "6 role".

If the players buck their ideas up and start performing, all the rest will take care of itself.

Square pegs and round holes aside, we have some of the most expensive and highest paid players in the world. It's about time they started to in some way justify those facts rather than shy away from their responsibilities as players, and employees of Manchester United.

With them being the highest paid footballers in the world it makes it pretty much impossible to get rid of them as we saw this past summer.

Therefore the buck is always going to stop with the manager and they will take the blame.

Top post it also seems like some of our players have forgotten how to score and if you don't score you don't win matches.

SAF had the rule that no player was paid more than the manager, good for him obviously but also made a clear point that the manager was the main man and player power would never be a significant factor.

I doubt that rule is in place now with Mou.

Great post Betty. I feel we have one of the best manager around and he was brought in despite some initial apprehension. But he has now brought in some good players but unfortunately some of players are just not playing with the passion required.

Agree with Betty

Psychologically SAF became untouchable, no player was bigger than him. They went out the door first not the manager and all the players knew that. It has changed since the club brought in two managers whose position was not strong, the players will likely have realised and knew that even dropping a slight level the manager would go before them. It is why we should have appointed a top manager after SAF to stop the rot. The rot set in, sadly by appointing who they did and now it needs shaking up and the players need to believe none are safe as the club believes in this manager, a manager who does have the CV to back it up. There may be some squawking but Jose must stop the lethargy created from the very top by the last two less than appropriate appointments.

Betty, completely agree the players are underperforming but I think we do have some good players. As for Jose, I think he needs to shut up, knuckle down, and fix it. If he is one of the world's best then he needs to show it. The players' poor form is the root cause but criticising a player publicly, picking layers playing poorly, getting tactics wrong, are down to the Manager. The Managers job isn't to go public on Shaw, but to help him be a better player. Picking 2 players whe were barely fit for the biggest game wasn't clever. The team lacks pace, dynamism, ans most worryingly motivation.

Cracking post betty and I have to agree with every single word I honestly don't see what else the club can do its like having all the ingredients for eggs florentine and making scrambled egg on toast atm.

It's when he starts agreeing with me that I'd really have to worry and check myself into the funny farm. 😆😆.

Completely agree with Betty and ajh. I think the manager has to show more maturity and show us all that he's the best.
He got his tactics and selection all wrong against City and at Watford.
Pick a midfield of Carrick hererra and pogba and play mkhitaryan Zlatan and rashford up top and we will have a lot more balance, compactness in the team.
