The talk in America is that the Glazers have found the financing they need to stay at the club.

Not sure what or how this changes anything at the club.

Maybe there is no point in bidding now unless it's an offer that they cannot refuse.

I'd be very surprised if they decided to sell and walk away now.

Any funds they would receive by selling a partial stake in the club would go to them. This money would certainly not be used for club business and we know this because they've never put a penny into the club.

If the goal is to stay and redevelop Old Trafford (a new stadium would be too expensive) and Carrington, then they would need a loan leveraged against the club. We already have the loan they took out 18 years ago to pay, we owe nearly £300 million in transfer fees also.

The club couldn't absorb that much more debt and stay semi competitive in the league.

They drained the club dry. They're selling because the Super League failed, sponsorship is slowly down, the debt the club have around their neck is beginning to take its toll and they havnt a clue on how to move the club forward.

I would be amazed if they decide to stay after going through this process. Its all a game of cat and mouse and I see Qatar blinking first and paying close to what the Glazers want.

The talk is that currently borrowing is set to get even more expensive. if the Glazer's took out one hundred million a year in dividends it would take them 50 years to rake in what apparently is on the table now. they're going to sell. they can't afford to run this club and they can't afford to turn down what's being offered.

I do think people have forgotten they can raise money through selling stadium naming rights.

Selling ground around the stadium.
Selling training facilities and then renting back etc

There is still a lot that can be done from the glazers side.

Long term they could just sit tight and wait it out until some success comes along.

The 31% they don't control could still be attained by someone that would want to invest in club.

Many options are on the table I imagine that most do not know about.

They havnt been able to deliver much success without the genius of Sir Alex. They probably could have sat tight for a few years but that option is an incredibly dangerous one now they've opened Pandoras box.

If they pull the rug out and stay, sell the naming rights to Old Trafford, sell Carrington to rent it back all while finishing between 6th and 3rd, there would be riots.

You've always been well informed Big V, i'm not having a go at you mate. What you're saying could indeed happen, I just can't see them staying. I'm sure the Raine Group are being paid a pretty penny for their involvement, the fan unrest if they stayed and then if they did want to sell in 5 years time, would they be taken seriously?

If they don't sell now, there won't be many buyers lining up to go through the process in future. that's not how business houses run. They will sell. Its just leaks to eek out every last penny they can from the buyer.

For sure there would be a big fan reaction.

Nice to have opinions that are not points scoring on here.

Top man Mumbles.

There has been speculation this has been about increasing the value to exploit better lending options, whilst enabling the leeches to fill their pockets yet retaining ownership. We should put nothing past these owners. However, boy who cried wolf comes to mind. If that is what they do, then business people will remember it when they do try to sell. Once burnt.

Negotiations are about having two extremes and reaching agreement, that is what this looks like so far. The leeches could not leave themselves with no option to stay or buyers knowing they “had” to sell would make lower offers. Giving the indication they can easily stay but might be tempted by the right offer is a negotiation tool.

However, if these disgusting leeches stay, the club will be utterly toxic, even more now we have had the carrot of what Qatar and other buyers would do. It has to end here for the Glazers, who, by admittedly clever astute business have squeezed everything they can out.

We cannot come out of this with debt, that simple. I suspect the rumours and noise is just positioning in public, trying to obtain the best deal from buyer or seller perspective. The OP from Big V sounds like a rumour almost made to reach Qatar ears. Yes they may well have financing in principle available but the toxic mess they would keep will quickly see the asset devalue, leaving any financier concerned.

This must be the Glazers last stand, even I would consider joining a demonstration against them if they fudge a stay.

The problem is with Joel and Avram they are not on the same wave length as there siblings and believe the relationship can be fixed with the fans if they can deliver some future success and infrastructure development.

Some American friends I get the odd bit of information from has told me a couple of times an American investment firm are right in the mix to take some shares and offer investment.

Looking at the long game is risky for whoever they are and the glazers.

I don't mind if it's SJR or Qatar I just want a club that is not at risk with debt looming over the club.

Whatever happens i think the fan base that are wagging there tails for Qatar have not thought about there disaster at another Club other than psg.

If they don't sell now, there will be complete and utter outrage with the fans. They've made their bed now they need to lie in it.

Redwhiskey since when didnit matter to the Glazers what the fans think or want? They will do what any commercial operator do. look to extract the maximum income from their investment and they won't care about anything else.
