D gea was a sub for the game vs belarus today.
Now i'm no doctor but surely this is good news and he should be fit for the arsenal game?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Neymar was a sub in the world cup after breaking his back. Means nothing.

Gcu. That welbeck isn't looking too bad a player. Maybe we can do a swap with rvp?

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Are we going to get this every time Welbeck scores a goal?

Only pulling his leg! !

Nomid

Against slovenia many a players look good. He is still Bambi on ice. I will bet on it when Giroud and Walcot are back he is bench warming at Arsenal.

Long time since I posted, mainly due to work overload, and only seen 2 live games this year, arghh. So I told the directors either replace my ex-boss or promote me ( cause right now I'm doing both jobs and it's not sustainable, I've even almost stopped drinking and took a 5 day holiday.

Recent history: we lost one of, if not the best, managers of all time. We had an aging, though successful team, we had a very weak midfield. We appointed a very successful, if not world class proven managerto replace "the best" We did not give him enough time to address the enormous rebuild needed. We then appointed a proven, if past his best buy date manager and now have a very unbalanced team.

Our midfield is STILL the problem. Could we do with a top class CD? YES. Could we do with a better, more reliable RB? YES. Though in my humble opinion 2 Cm's along with Herrera (like Vidal /sniff and Fabregas / cry) would both protect and free our defence more.

The Future: I've been hoping, praying and annoying everyone for us to sign Vidal for years. Sadly I now believe that option is gone, he's getting older and, again imo. not quite as good since his recent injury. Fabregas is elsewhere. So for the future we should invest in the brightest young talents.

Sadly, because of our imbalance we need to see a few very good players leave.

Were it my choice as manager ( get ready for conference football ) I'd sign Nat Clyne. and N'Koulouu if available. De Bruyne, Moura, Verratti, I'd love Raheem Sterling but any 2 from these 4 would be great.

Still until we address the midfield, we will not know how the rest of the team measures.

I really rate Herrera, I actually think he could be world class. Blind I'm still undecided.

I actually think a lot of our problems come from the fact none of our defenders are showing their ability to pass through the first line of attack/midfield.

If you watch Ramos or Hummels (any top CB for that matter), they will take the ball past the 'first line of defence' and that allows our midfielders to pick up spaces between the lines.
I feel like our midfielders always have to come searching for the ball. When they receive it there is a huge gap in front of them, and without picking out a worldie of a pass it's very difficult to break down teams who put all 11 men behind the ball.

So a ball playing CB is the key for me, De Vrij looks good from what I have seen. Maybe he is part of the answer?

Covey i'd be happy with either van dijk or de vrij. Both a similar age, de vrij has the advantage of more experience but van dijk has the advantage of already being in Britain so should have no problems of settling.

Agreed Mr E, either would definitely improve what we have at the moment and neither seem injury prone. At least not until they get to Carrington.

Ignazio Abate and Fabian Schar both are in the last year of their contract and can sign a pre-contract(or can make a permanent move at low price)

Given Rafaels injury record we need good cover for him and everyone knows we are well short in the CB department.

Never really rated Abate, he seems to struggle in Serie A so god knows how he'd do in the EPL. Schar is a good player though so I wouldn't be disappointed if he joined. I do remember seeing that Chiellini hasn't yet signed a new contract with Juve. Whether he will or not remains to be seen but perhaps if things haven't been sorted out by January it may be worth putting an offer in. Also De Jong will be a free in the summer so it might be worth going for him, until the summer when we can sign a player of higher caliber.

The beeb are reporting that De Gea has dislocated a finger whilst training with the Spanish team. I think he's suffered a similar injury before and got over it quite quickly so fingers crossed. When will these injuries end eh? I guess it's just one of those seasons.

Also, if anyone has missed REDFAITH's excellent post further down the banter page I'd recommend giving it a read; an excellent assessment of the teams competing for the top positions and views on how it may all pan out.

I have to say that the roll Southampton are on and the confidence that they've built, and continue to build, makes them genuine competitors for the top 4 in my opinion. I honestly believe that the belief and spirit they have now will mean they continue to challenge the established hierarchy this season.

Anyhooo, have a read of REDFAITH's post. Excellent stuff.
