Eds, Do you see ManUtd getting any players this transfer window, or will the fans have to wait till the summer? Coentrao, Garay were both close to be done but nothing yet! What do yall think?

{Ed004's Note - I was over optimistic in the summer maybe I'm being pessimistic now, but I can't see any signings though we need atleast 2 IMO}

ED04, You are argubly the most Realestic around here. I had a feeling of getting atleast 1 after those first half horror show, But its getting slimmer day by day. I ain't getting what's DM mind, have they given up the Top4 and wanna concentrate from next summer?. I don't see many arriving in summer without CL or without even a fight this term. Pretty sure, chelsea would get Rooney and RVP would go in for another Rehab.
We need to Beat Chlesea this weekend.

2.) Attitude, I don't think anyone can say that Moyes doesn't WANT to sign anyone. I'm sure there is a comprehensive list of targets. The issue is whether or not these players are attainable, and at the right price.

Thats Rubbish. A blind fool would get an answer If you look those targets. Do we have some replacment or Excuses of not getting targets?.
Are these people paid for their Job?

4.) I think we are negotiating with Garay for a move that will happen in the summer, any move for Vidal would probably happen then as well. I think we could be sniffing around Mata as he clearly wants to leave and January move makes so much sense for him. Nevertheless, the only likely move for me is Coentrao, would like more but its January so we have to be realistic.

5.) Agree 100 % Ed004 we need to invest now, because it's a world cup year, transfers in the summer will be tricky too, especially if we do not make top 4. Betty please explain to me what "The right price" is? If reports are to be believed we want Coentrao as our LB and are trying to secure a loan/buy deal for 12-14m. RM while saying, nobody in out, again reportedly want 18-20m. In the summer AB said Herrera could go for the asking price 36m euros we offered 30. My contention is at the moment ( actually over the last 5 or 6 years but more urgently now) we can't afford to try to play hardball on prices and come up empty again.

If we sign nobody this window probably a better financial plan would be a slower rebuild with more emphasis on promising players but then we are looking at 2-3 years of no CL. We would still need to invest significantly more than our £20m average over the last 6 years.

6.) Attitude, you are the one talking rubbish. It is obvious we have transfer targets, and I'm sure Moyes has a list of who he wants. Whether the club are prepared to spend the money is not the manager's decision. Even if they are, we cannot make a club sell to us if they don't want to. Nor can we make a player come, especially in January. The fact remains, if the right players are available at the right price, we will do our best to sign those players. But I am pretty sure the club will not be held to ransom and pay massively over the odds to buy players.

7.) I heard a little rumour that's fc zenit have bought garay and rodrigo from benfica for £29 million. Not twitter

8.) Grund, the "right price" the price that we feel is reasonable for the player. Why an people not understand that, because its not difficult. If say for example we are interested in Vidal, the club will have a price in mind. If the club feel he is worth £35m, they will not pay £69m for him. Simple. Whether the fans like that or not is up to them, but it won't change anything. I Agree we need 3 or 4 signings asap, but you cannot blame Moyes if the club will not meet the asking prices. That is down to the owners. I'm not a big Moyes fan myself, but I get defensive over him because he is blamed on here for things that are beyond his control.

10.) Jred, I agree with you but that is not the point of the post. For the umpteenth time I am just trying to get across that David Moyes does not hold the purse strings. Why is that so difficult to understand? He had said himself that we need a few world class players to compete, but whether of not the club back him in the transfer market is yet to be seen. It would appear that the club will spend a bit over the odds from the Fellaini transfer, but will they pay what it takes to get the very best players? Most sensible people agree that it is difficult to sign top players in January, but where David Moyes is concerned, some of out own fans decide to ignore that fact. How do you propose we sign top players if their clubs don't want to sell? Torture? Ransom? Blackmail?

If there clubs don't want to sell them you need to pay over the odds.

Why else would juventus want to sell Vidal.
If United want Vidal who is on a long term contract they will have to pay over the odds or they won't get him.

12.) I agree that we need to invest now. But I can't see it happening. The two that in my opinion we could go and get are Coentrao and Mata but it hasn't happened yet. Maybe sign Coentrao in the next few days with a deadline day move for Mata. Stranger things have happened.
