watching Sky Sports and the mention of the Citizens challenge with home grown players raised a thought. We have not been linked with many (realistic) home grown players and when you consider the age of Carrick, the long term form issues of Rooney and if we do get any number of our defensive targets (and the potential fallout for one or more of Evans, Smalling and Jones) will we not be in a similar boat. yes we have a wealth of players in the youth squads that qualify as home grown but do we end up wasting a squad space for someone to step up whenthey would qualify an an unsquadded (sic) player if they are under 20.

I would prefer to have a core of british players, especially if they came through our yough system, however the costs that are thrown arounf for players such as Kane ans Sterling are crazy and this would reduce capability to strengthen elsewhere.

I will say that I have not seen much of the under 21s and do not know much about their rediness to step up. Is there anyone ready to step up to the plate in RB, DM, or the box to box role people are asking for? With the boss having to improve on what , I must be honest, was a lucky 4th place can he take a big risk?

we have a load of home grown talent in our ranks i don't think we need to be going out and buying young english talent we already have it(obviously if there's players out their that are promising then i would try and sign them)

and our u21s have just won the title so there must be a few players who are nearly ready for a shot at the first team, maybe in cup games, I've watched a few games on mutv but not enough to say weather i think we have players ready to step up.

i remember watching a game last season and the commentator said that united have had a player from their ranks in the squad on a match day for the 3000 and odd game in a row(something along them lines.

when i look at teams like chelsea who have not produced a player from their ranks since john terry.

lvg has already said he will give younger players their chance on the pre season tour so hopefully a few step up.

Watch out for Ben Pearson (Tough tackling CM) and Saidy Janko (Versatile RB)

Personally I don't mind the odd loss as we are peppering the goal and their goalkeeper was man of the match. Oh wait. we only had 3 shots on goal against Swansea.

I find that whatever formation LVG sets out we are ponderous on the ball, have few shots on target and look like were cannot defend against even the most pedestrian of attacks.

I love United but if it had not been for de Gea playing out of his skin at times we would be in 7th or 8th place.

I'd be quite happy if 6th was his spot. Or lower to be honest.
