Lots of attention on the new signings as is always the case, while there has also been a bit of focus on those players leaving.

However, which players that were already in the squad do you think will step up and have a good season this year?

For me there are a few who I think will have really good seasons.

Firstly I'll go with Mason Mount. I think he's flown a little under the radar, but he has been really good in the limited time he's got to play under Amorim. If he can stay fully fit then I'd expect to see him have a really good season.

Secondly I'm going with Lenny Yoro. He just seems to get better and better with every game. I think by the end of the season the whole EPL will be talking about him as one of the best young CB's in Europe.

The third player I think will have an excellent season is Dorgu. I think after having a little time to settle and a whole pre-season under his belt he looks ready to explode this season.

A couple of honourable mentions go to Amad and Bruno. Both of whom were the only two players to come out of last season with any credit. I think they will continue to have good seasons this year. This could be the season Amad really cements his place in the team as a key player.

Who do you think will have a great season this year?

Yoro looks like class, I expect him to get better and better. I like Mount but he's continually injured and I don't see how he gets a run. I also like the look of Heaven, I hope he also develops this year.

Agreed on Mount AJH. There is a player in there for sure, but unless he conjures up a miracle i don't see him dislodging mbeumo or cunha for the 10 roles. And he's too lightweight to play deeper.

100% agree with you on Yoro. Just looks so at home with us.

Huge shame mount has suffered like he has . Let's hope he can get a run with no knocks.

Competition for the 2 10 positions is fierce. Mbeumo cunha mount zirkzee bruno amad. Bruno and amad may play different roles primarily. Zirkzee can also compete with sesko. That's not including mainoo who looks set to compete with bruno ugarte casimero and new cm for 1 of 2 deeper roles.
Then there is rasmus.
Something has to give imo. I would not be at all surprised to see one of mainoo or mount leaving before the window shuts. I hope not and perhaps we can break even on ugarte or cas leaves. But if a new cm comes in someone is leaving you'd have to think.

Amad will boss this season and show himself to be the player that he is!

Bruno has been immense for us over the last few years but this season maybe will not be as great. He's probably going to play a deeper role and that may hinder him.

I heard mount might have needed a surgery, but has come back again without? So, we could be on last chance saloon before he goes the surgery route if he breaks down again. I don't see how he dislodges cuhna or mbueno.

Amad may also struggle for time at 10, and may need to share the wingback role with dalot. Perhaps dalot getting the nod against tougher opposition, and amad being used more as an impact sub in those games.

Zirkzee I don't see how he gets much game time, but he is certainly different.

Love yoro. What a player is is becoming.

Dorgu at times looks electric, at times looks out of control. How will he be by the end of the season? Hopefully he locks down the left side, we need him to be that guy.

Heaven, fresricksen look good at the back.

Mainoo hopefully is ready to force his way into first teM contention, he needs that or may move on.

Kone could be bit of sleeper, many at the club are excited about him. Is he ready to start making appearances this year, it seems he will stay rather than go out on loan.

Mount was always playing second fiddle to Bruno, which gave him no hope, now his best position is taken by the two new signings, he will remain a squad player at best in this team.
With a new DM coming in, either Baleba or Wharton, it is who plays along side them that will be pivotal this season, obvious choice will be Bruno, so where does that leave Mainoo, does Amorim rate him or are we seeing Bruno slowly eased out over the season in favour of Mainoo long term?

I agree that the competition for those two No.10 positions will be absolutely fierce. Cunha and Mbeumo signing, while Bruno, Amad, Zirkzee and even Mainoo will all be in contention for a start in that position even if they will more likely start in other positions (despite the argument that maybe the No.10 position is their best position) .

I just have an inkling that Amorim sees Mount as the first alternative to either of Cunha or Mbeumo in that No.10 role.

I think he'll want to try and get the other players to focus on adapting to the other positions (Amad - RWB, Bruno and Mainoo - CM, and Zirkzee - ST), and as such I don't think he'll move them unless necessary.

He has looked to bring Mount on and play him as often as he can and to be fair to Mount he has often come on and grabbed a goal and/ or made a positive impact.

This role that Amorim uses is the one that Mount absolutely excelled in at Chelsea, getting double digits in both goals and assists across multiple seasons. I think people have forgotten just how good he was in that role at Chelsea. If he can stay fit then there is no reason why he can't get back to those heights again.

It’s plain to see RA would love Mount in the starting 11, if he could get and stay fit, there is no reason that won’t happen
Mount again not a great player but is good enough for this team without any doubt, if he could only get fit and have a good few months injury free.
