Although with Ole in charge I don't have much confidence but the squad is going to get much better.

Probably they won't Ed002 especially with Ole at the helm. Anyhow will be a step in right direction in terms of improving the first team.

Clubs generally don’t look and say ‘ooo city have signed Kane and Grealish, we need to go sign Mbappe and Messi’. Clubs don’t do ‘statement of intent’ or whatever garbage papers say. Clubs (well run clubs I guess I should say) have a plan, they identify targets (with input from various people including the manager) and then try and improve the squad. The idea that they sign players as a statement of intent is ludicrous. Even the Galaticos weren’t a statement of intent but rather a business model.

I can only see us buying other players if more of the squad are sold:
Pogba, Dalot, Pereira, Lingard, Tuanzebe, Jones all candidates.

Selling those though is more about reducing the wage bill predominantly and realistically how much would those generate in sales?
Pogba - £30m?
Dalot - £15m?
Pereira - £10m?
Lingard - £15m?
Tuanzebe - £10m?
Jones - a couple of balls and cones for training?

I actually see Pogba staying this season. He will have his choice of suitors next season when C.V. impact may be a little clearer / improved for all and no fee to pay to us. He will get his final £500k pw contract from somebody - just not from us.

As for the others they may make funds available for a very good DM given the prices quoted for the likes of Saul, Camavinga, Neves all under £40m. Rice looks Chelsea bound to me to link up with his best mate Mount and stay in London - and Chelsea won't blink at paying the £80m+ West Ham want.

I guess a well stocked treatment room is essential if anyone attempts to sign Jones. Would he pass a medical in the first place?
