According to sky sports we want £85m for Maguire and mctominay. Think that's a bit steep but hopefully a compromise around £70-75m can be found. Really think it's best for them and for us there's no better time to sell as next year their value won't be as high. Also we can use to to reinvest in some of the other areas ed has mentioned.

Looks like United could raise over £100m on player sales this summer, and a decent overall book profit. I think we can look forward to at least one more significant signing, such as Amrabat.

If so, well done to the new management team. Given the reported FFP restrictions and the weight of debt the club has incurred they have managed over the course of 2 summers to pretty much give the new manager the players he has wanted. Not Frankie de Jong, perhaps, but I put that down to ETH holding on for a player who was not available, rather than a failure by Murtaugh and Arnold, who, despite the late acceptance of FDJ's determination not to leave Barcelona, come up with Casemiro, an extremely important acquisition for us.

Obviously still lots to do but if we sell Maguire, McTominay, Fred, Henderson, Bailly and Van De Beek as we are trying to, the turnover of players in the last 12 months will have been pretty extraordinary by United standards.

De Gea, Henderson, Telles, Bailly, Maguire, Jones, Tuanzebe, Matic, Pogba, McTominay, Fred, Van De Beek, Weghorst, Cavani, Mata, Elanga, Lingard and Ronaldo all departing in the space of just over a year for various reasons.

Fans knew a rebuild was needed but the club appear to have gone a long way towards managing it, in a relatively short time. There are signs we've maybe went from amateurs to semi professionals behind the scenes.

I agree. People like to complain and before the window opened there was rumour mongering that there was no money for transfers or a tiny budget or the sale was going to hold things up, which has all proven to be false. To date we have spent 160 mill and pretty much gotten, who we have been linked with.

The collective execution of the ins and outs has been very good. its not easy to clean up 10 years of mismanagement. If we do get some sales done, we have pretty much cleaned up 90 percent of the mess added a backbone for years to come with a bit more to go.

Next summer should be a lot less complicated and fun to watch.

Its shame we have injuries to players I was looking forward to seeing play to start the season but its a long season and hopefully we will have a full squad available soon.

If I’m West Ham and Manchester United counter with £85m I run for the door. That’s more than we’d pay for Amrabat and Todibo, both of whom are much better players, and, if I’m not mistaken, have been linked with West Ham in the past.

Perhaps this is all just some bizarre negotiating tactic, but when a club offers you over the odds for two player that you no longer have use for (one of whom will be difficult to shift due to their high wages), the smart play is to take the money.

We have no real facts to go on other than newspaper reports as to the state of the negotiations. There's no way we're getting £85m for the two of them, but it does seem that Moyes is keen on the pair so there's a deal to be done and - in all likelihood - will being done for the reason redseven mentions: it makes no sense for United to walk away from the table. In the end it's 2 deals and not one that have to be negotiated separately between the clubs and the players and their agents.

do you think Tim?
Thanks for the running commentary, saves me all the google malarky daily.

Shaw. Given the precarious nature of Moyes’ position, I suspect that our stance may not only end up blowing up the deal, but also contributing to Moyes losing his job.

Looks increasingly like Maguire will go but McTominay will stay (again, lack of pragmatism from club as look for squeezing best fee, despite McT being squad player now and likelihood of Mainoo and Hannibal being played before him) .

And, if Fred and DVdB go - and Amrabat comes in - maybe we could’ve had a try for Gravenburch (£30m? ) to replace McT if he went for £35m. (However, after looking at Liverpool rumours page, looks like they’ll go for him next) .

Am sure they have their reasons.

It’s just negotiation, some on here were saying we should have snapped their hand off at £20m for Maguire, they have now offered £30m.

Maybe eth wants mac to stay. The reports say we would sell if a club meets somewhere around our valuations. Last time I checked many clubs doing deals on the same basis.

With DVB and Fred most likely going I can understand that point view if the reports are accurate. He is no mug and no reason to sell him if the offer is well below what the club values him at.

Maguire looks like happening.
