What are peoples takes on Tim farron's recent comments on the third kits in football being surplus to requirements and that they're just another way of fleesing fans of money. don't think it really applies to us as we just usually use the previous years away kit, but nonetheless still interesting

The shirts are a rip off anyway, the prices that are charged are totally disgraceful. I refuse to buy any of them because I think it is purely a money making scheme, I wouldn't wear football shirt anyway as a grown man though. Before moaning about 3rd kits he should moan about the price of shirts.

I believe the third kit has applied in the past for CERTAIN games. For example Ajax's home strip is White and Red, and United's home kit is red and their away kit used to be white on away days in Europe. If Ajax for example were to play their home tie in their home kit against United then both United's home and away kits would clash, so the third blue kit WOULD apply. This is obviously very rare but it CAN be the case in certain games but it is uncommon. I believe third kits should be considerably cheaper to warrant their use.

{Ed002's Note - The argument is have an away kit that would never clash. So if you have a red and white home kit, have a whole blue away kit for example.}

Ed002,

So what happens when you play Barcelona?

{Ed002's Note - They wear the pink and yellow away kit.}

I don't get the whole 'rip off' thing, it's not like it is mandatory to buy all kits that are released. If United bring out 3 kits per season, to me that just means that kids have a greater choice of the one to get. Let's face it, at least one is usual pretty ugly. You don't have to buy all three, tell kids they can choose one and ask which they like best.

5.) 16 Oct 2014
Nothing wrong with bright yellow or green bibs if you ask me.

Some die hard supporters will buy anything with the name on it, the clubs just abuse this like any other company would. Supply and demand.

6.) 16 Oct 2014
As Brenda mentions above; nobody is forcing you to buy the kits.

7.) 16 Oct 2014
Considering it is meant to be the working mans game it is a fleece. The kits for kids are extortionate and I think that tickets should be a flat rate. My friend was looking to get tickets to MU v Chelsea and the starting price was £190. How is that affordable?

8.) 16 Oct 2014
Well Fresh almost 76,000 people at every home game show it is affordable.
I remember paying £3.60 on the turnstiles to stand in United Road and £8 for the FA cup final against Everton in '85.

9.) 16 Oct 2014
It's disgraceful. Without coming over all KLOOTish, the price of watching a game, season tickets, replica kits is bordering on extortion. Just because 76000 people turn up every week does not make it right.

{Ed002's Note - And it will get worse the moment the breakaway happens. I have explained before that there will be changes, probably within the next 10 to 15 years, which will force the restructuring of all of the leagues in Europe and likely do away with the likes of UEFA. You will have the opportunity to see the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus and the other major European sides play in week-on-week regular competition at The Emirates, Stamford Bridge etc.. You will have the opportunity to visit Milan, Barcelona, Monaco, etc. every couple of weeks to watch your team play - if they make the cut. If you want to don your cloth cap, have a pint of wallop with your chums before going off to the local match, perhaps one of the sides from the suburbs will have survived so you can go and watch them?

It is not the peoples game any longer - you need to move on.}

10.) 16 Oct 2014
You have an option to buy the kit but what is not an option is the forced purchase of cup tickets for season ticket holders.

We may want to go to the cup games but I am against being forced to buy tickets. I can chose to buy the kit but I can't chose to buy the cup tickets and for me that needs investigating more than shirts which are optional

11.) 17 Oct 2014
Well red man we've got a year off that then.

12.) 17 Oct 2014
Carloto

A year off Europe for sure but the FA Cup is in scope. It is the principle that matters
