Reading this morning a few articles that claim United, Dortmund and Sancho all expect the transfer to still happen. I still have a feeling this transfer will be done. Ed mention on the Liverpool page that while things are a mess we will spend money and I think this will be one that gets done.

This transfer will only happen if United pay what Dortmund want. He has three years left on his deal and Dortmund are under no immediate financial pressure to sell.

United have shown that if you hold your nerve we will crack. It first happened with Fellaini, we could have got him for a set fee, we allowed the clause to expire thinking we could bully Everton into accepting less then we paid more than the clause value on the last day.

We tried the same with Maguire last summer and we thought we could bully Sporting as well over Bruno. They actually needed to money yet they still held firm over the summer and winter windows. In the end we agreed to pay what Sporting wanted just spread over a couple of years with easily attainable targets.

We have shown we have zero negotiating skills, it doesn't help when when we have Ed Woodward making public declarations of how much we have and how we can "do things few other clubs can in the transfer market".

Fact is if Dortmund say 120m then it will be 120m. That might be 80m now and 40m next summer. But it will be 120m. We have no power in this negotiation other than to walk away and buy someone else.

So it's pay up or shut up. I don't think it will happen.

Chelsea in the same situation with havertz I wouldn't be surprised to see both deals done this summer.

{Ed002's Note - Actually no.}

Ed appreciate this isn't the Chelsea page. What's the difference in the deals?

I presume it's that United haven't actually bid yet?

{Ed002's Note - It is completely unrelated.}

Actually no ed002, Sancho deal looks unlikely or no havertz is not the same situation?

{Ed002's Note - There is no comparison.}

I don't think Chelsea will have to pay huge agents fees like utd need to pay to get the deal done.
