So the most likely departures are James and Lingard now with and outside chance of a bid for a DM, Neves being the most likely as Saul and Camavinga look to go elsewhere.

Is that where everyone thinks realistically where we are at?

James out, Diallo to stay seems the logical outcome to me. Diallo has still done more in the short bursts we've seen of him than even Sancho has done. For all his effort and endeavor James isn't good enough or benefitting from the occasional cameo, he could be starting for half the sides in the Prem.

I think dvb may leave. Hence us keeping jesse.

James and Lingard out with Ruben Neves coming in would in my opinion make this not just our best transfer window ever, but arguably the best transfer window any club has had ever.

Better than Chelsea last year after they won the cl?
Take a lie down shappy will you.
We have won nothing and your claiming this to be the best window in history. Honestly get a grip.

Its only a great transfer window if the players gel and win trophies.

So in one window we have signed one of possibly the greatest ever players in Ronaldo. Albeit at the end of his career, yet last season he out scored a peak Lukaku and is still arguably the best No.9 in the world.

We have signed Varane, a world class player at his peak, who plays in a position of desperate need. Who in theory massively improves our defence.

We have signed one of the best young players in world football who only Messi has more goals and assists combined over the past three seasons. He is also English and fits the club's ideology of trusting in youth.

It's not often you get three world class players, with a good spread of ages and experience, in three positions of need in one window.

If we add someone like Ruben Neves who will add us a potentially world class CDM and break up the limited McFred partnership then I fail to recall a better window by anyone.

Yes Chelsea had a good window last summer. Mendy, Sarr, Thiago Silva, Chilwell, Ziyech (although technically signed in January and not the summer window), Werner and Havertz.

On paper it looked good. Although in hindsight Sarr has done nothing, Ziyech could be sold as he hasn't worked out as hoped. Werner has just been replaced with the 100m Lukaku, Chilwell is second choice to Alonso.

Meaning only Thiago Silva, Mendy and Havertz have really become first team players. Mendy and Kepa are fairly similar and is not a big upgrade, Thiago Silva is aging and can't play every week, while Havertz struggled to adapt until the last couple of months of the season.

Most of the key players for Chelsea in their UCL win were players who were already at the club.

I agree with what Grim says that ultimately it's only a great window if all the players work out well.

But on paper this has been a far better window than any of us dare thought was possible let alone even likely. A CDM and we literally start the season with "on paper" no weaknesses in our first team, and a side capable of challenging on all fronts.

On paper, going on what I've seen of £80m Sancho so far across the Euros and his few appearances for us I'd be frantically trying to find the receipt in my back pocket and nursing Diallo to health.
A midfield signing could shape our season. With one, Pogba can revert to LW where he has already acquired numerous assists this season. Greenword RW and Ron/ Cav in the middle. Without one, Pogba is shoved into an awkward central midfield role where better legs are required. We can have all the firepower in the world, but without an engine in the middle there are going to be very frustrating times until January when we eventually try to solve it again. I shudder to think what an accomplished manager might achieve with this group of players.

On paper. Exactly shappy. I'd say psg have had a better window this season alone. Or Liverpool when they signed vvd and Alison and won cl then the league. You talk bollox.
