Is Ronaldo the best all round attacking player in history who can do everything?

He can dribble, has great close control and quick feet to get past people.

Two footed and equally good on both feet and can shoot and score from virtually anywhere.

His aerial ability is unmatched and probably the best I have ever witnessed.

His movement and anticipation is top notch and has got a world class striker's instinct in him.

His finishing is top class but his hunger for more is just amazing even at his age.

Probably Ibra is the only one comparable in terms of longevity while being able to contribute at the highest level.

Overall his hardworking mentality, hunger, passion and professionalism to be the best is just mind-blowing. He is a beast.

Can you guys name an all-around player who is comparable or better than him?

Best player I have seen and said he would be a great from the first time I saw him on debut and continued to say it when others called him a one trick pony. At 6ft plus he learned to head a ball and recall a header for us to score a goal that was centre half like, rose up and showed power above everyone. Yes he is the GOAT to me. Nearest to him would be Georgie Best but Georgie had more Miss Worlds.

Being a United fan will likely make the opinion seem biased but he's the best player of all time in my opinion.

He's proved himself in top leagues, won everything at club level and has an international trophy (or 2 if the Nations League counts), changed his game throughout the years and can do everything you want from an attacking player. Undoubtedly, like all top athletes money plays a part but he has challenged himself more than most players when it comes to the moves he's made.

It's an outside chance but if he can inspire this United team with this manager to a Premier League or Champions League it'd arguably be his biggest achievement. I'm pessimistic about our chances of achieving that but if I had to pick one player for one season to try to make it happen it'd be Ronaldo.

Maradona was a better player. So too was George Best who often played on mud patches of pitches. Best header of a ball was possibly John Charles.

Red Man, you say a lot of the things my granddad said. I remember always being so frustrated by him and he always told me to wait. He still maintains the best he ever saw was Edwards and often tells stories of a game at highbury, which I think was the last game the babes played.

Last night we were talking after the game obviously a bit disappointed with the result, but also kind of happy about Ronaldo. He is adamant though Tommy Taylor was better in the air!

Caolin

Too young to have seen Edwards or Taylor, however the balls they played with back then were like concrete especially when wet. I started playing with a ball that was unbelievably heavy and my first boots had strengthened toes, possibly with steel in. Can’t remember for sure, but you had to toe bung the ball and avoid heading it if you could. Therefore your grandad saying Taylor was a better header holds weight, but as an all round player Ronaldo is the GOAT. In terms of Maradona, Ronaldo is better. Saw Diego on TV but also in the flesh in that famous OT game where Robson was head and shoulders above him. Anyone who could be kept quiet by Graeme Hogg (I think it was) can’t be the greatest.

There may be better headers than Ron, but all attributes together? None plus great goal scorer and scorer of great goals.

For me it still has to be George Best. he had balance, tenacity to tease players like Ronaldo does and great all round, right, left, head. Probably the best dribbler you could get and with those boots, balls and pitches. Ronaldo definitely goes close and his longevity is an example for those who seem to think over thirty and its a downhill slope. Only Stanley Matthews kept the quality going for so long. Best was the greatest but Ronaldo definitely the best in recent times.

Best compliment my granddad gives ronaldo is that he's a mix of Best, Law and Charlton. He can dribble like best, strike with both feet like Charlton and finish like Law.

He will frustrate us a lot this season as he will be anonymous in lots of games, yet pop up with the decisive goal/ goals. I can't wait to see him back out there.

Would of loved to have seen the Mighty Magyars play: Puskas, Kocsis, Hildegkuti etc. Puskas record is phenomenal.
It's a shame we're talking about greatest headers of ball when so many footballers and their families are now suffering with some form of dementia.

When I was kid, it was part of the game I loved. Who didn't love trying to score a diving header at the local park with a knock off 1974 World Cup football.
Always remember Mcqueen putting so much power into them, Jeff Astle is another who stands out, Andy Gray too.

One of the best sportsmen ever! Not just in the game of football but all round sports, they are few of this ilk.

I think it's almost impossible to judge players from different era's.

While Best was sublime on terrible pitches the players he was dribbling round were probably in the pub the night before.

Look at the technical ability of defenders now, they are much quicker, more mobile, and generally in much better physical shape. While they have for the most part been in a professional academy since they were 7 years old, and have over 10 years of professional coaching before they turn 18.

The technical and tactical level these players are at is a massive step up from the level of your average professional in the 1960's.

The diets, the life styles, everything. That's called progress, more money, more experience, greater knowledge, better science, more and better analysis etc.

George Best was the greatest player of his generation, while Pele was the best of his, Maradona the best of his, Zidane the best of his and Cristiano Ronaldo the best of the current generation.

I think people get far to caught up in the kudos of witnessing the "greatest of all time", just watch great footballers and enjoy their talents, ultimately watching Ronaldo now takes nothing away from my enjoyment and wonderment of watching players like Zidane, Ronaldinho, Nedved, Del Piero, Totti, Giggs or whoever else I enjoyed watching at the time.

Is Ronaldo better than all of them? Who knows, more importantly why does it matter? Just enjoy watching the very best players of the time at the time.

I never thought I'd see Ronaldo back in a United shirt, and I know he isn't the player he was 8 years ago when he scored 61 goals in 60 games.

But I will enjoy every minute I get to see him in a United shirt. He is a special player, for us as United fans and for all of football.

I'm not sure who'll be the next great player we will get to watch week in week out, there will be one.

Both my grandad and dad always said it was Duncan Edwards hands down and he was years from his peak. Physically gra dad said he was dominant to a level no one had ever seen before but he also said he could do everything heading shooting passing both feet tackling including when he wanted, the crowd pleasing little flicks and tricks.

He also raved about Best saying you thought he was the luckiest player ever because in every challenge it always felt that the ball would always bounce to Best's feet or to where Best would take advantage of it, obviously it wasn't luck but his quick feet and football brain. They also said he could dish it out and was a proper nasty little bugger when he needed to be as well. He would get hacked to pieces but dished it back and would have torn modern defenders to shreds such was his close control and modern defenders inability or fear to tackle.

As for Ronnie well only my dad got to see him and loved him too, would say he was one of only a few who could have played with the Babes though no way would big Dunc or Roger Byrne allowed him to throw himself around!

From non United players they both rave about Tom Finney saying he had the most beautiful balance and could play anyway across the forward line. the both reckon he was better than Matthews.

Just to clarify not that it matters really but I meant only my dad got to see him play at OT live as my grandad stopped going for health reasons not that my grandad had passed which is how it read.
