LFC fan here in peace.
It's interesting to hear all you guys perspectives on who should be leaving the club in the near future.
It started me wondering who from your players would be in our 23 man squad.
I could only come up with McT (as a useful utility player), DDG, Bruno, Cavani (just maybe) and only Bruno would be a probable starter.
It's a really sad state of affairs for you, I hear lots of people saying you have a good squad of players but I honestly don't see it.
It's really a case of ripping it all up and starting again and having gone down the RR route you have to stick with that plan although the timing of appointing him not coinciding with getting a full time manager is far from ideal.
Ronaldo despite many age related failings has almost single handedly got you near the top 4 and through the CL group stages but clearly is hampering your overall team play.
I believe Klopps philosophy is to look at the players character as much as his ability and although we seem to have failed with Keita overall we have no other obvious "bad eggs".
So my view is that you should ditch 50% of your current squad and replace them with "proper" MU players who are proud to wear the shirt, if you have to take a loss on them then that's what you have to do.

Not sure if you’re genuinely sympathetic or condescending from your loftier position!

Either way, you’re probably right but hopefully given a few years of better decision making from above and signing better players, we’ll be challenging again.

Hopefully we’ll not have to wait 30 years though.

Squad of 23? Probably none of them would get in as Liverpool wouldn't be able to afford their wages. Jones and Bailly maybe on pay per game contract?

I don't see much wrong with this post to be honest. I think maybe the issue is that it's a rival fan saying it.

I mean realistically which of our players would make the current Liverpool team?

Alisson or DDG? Pretty close, DDG is possibly in the better shot stopping form. Yet Alisson's ability to come off his line and play out from the back is vital to how Liverpool play. So in truth Alisson gets the nod, maybe a spot on the bench for DDG.

Trent and Robertson are two of if not the two best full backs in the league.

Varane would make the Liverpool side along side VvD in my opinion.

McTominay is probably the only midfielder we have that gets anywhere near that Liverpool squad. Pogba, Matic, Fred or Donny not good enough and a poor fit for how they play. McTominay as a sub might make that squad.

Bruno makes its on the basis that they have no one as good as him in that creative role in midfield.

Sancho and Rashford probably make the bench as back up for Salah and Mane. Although Jota would push them close and in truth is probably better suited to their style of play. Or at least more proven to be able to play that way.

Ronaldo wouldn't work in Klopp's system and Klopp wouldn't alter it for him. Cavani could do a good job as back up for Firmino.

So of our players only Varane and Bruno would probably make their starting 11. With DDG, McTominay, Sancho, Rashford and Cavani possibly taking squad roles.

Do we have "bad eggs" that need shifting out the door? Absolutely.

Do we need to shift at least 50% of the squad and bring in better players both in terms of talent and mentality? Absolutely.

Like I said very little to pick out as being "wrong" from this post.

Varane would be my only Utd pick in a Utd/ Liverpool XI. A few on the bench - Ron, Sancho, Bruno, DDG. Sad but true.

Maybe not even Varane will, you can’t judge him being world class for what he shown this season, this season certainly don’t back up his trophy cabinet that’s for sure, so if you were judging on present not past he don’t get in Liverpool team.

Je Suis, Varane doesn't need to be world class to be better than Konate, Matip or Gomez. So on that basis alone he gets the nod with VvD.
