Any substance in the latest Ajax player to be linked to us, Kenneth Taylor ed? I've not seen anything of him but seems to be highly rated, both footed midfielder (although you'd expect that these days given salaries paid out to professionals) .
{Ed002's Note - Kenneth Taylor (DM) will attract a lot of scouts during the season and efforts will be made for next summer. Ajax will resist.}
1.) 28 Sep 2022 15:04:55
He looks like a fine player supa and getting great reviews.
I think ajax will resist any more requests from us unless they need to build another new stadium?.
2.) 28 Sep 2022 15:18:56
Ken, fancy seeing your name sake in a United shirt?.
3.) 28 Sep 2022 20:50:09
On a serious note he does look a like great young player.
I think he'd do well to have another year or even two at Ajax to really establish himself.
Maybe we could swoop in for him in two years time when Casemiro is 32 going on 33 and will likely need someone to rotate/ replace him.
4.) 29 Sep 2022 09:35:45
On a side note, do you feel English (based) youngsters are at a disadvantage playing for Premier league clubs, given to the sheer quality and physicality of the league?
It seems like sides in other top flight leagues, such as Ajax or Dortmund et al, can bring through their top youth prospects pretty quickly and seamlessly, whereas over here you might get a fleeting glimpse of a player on the bench every now and then before they're sent out on loan a year later. probably to return and more often than not fail to cut the mustard at the very top.
Something in it, or do Utd in particular just have an underwhelming crop at the moment. Malacia is the only youth in recent years to make a great impression and he's not even Utd bred. I know there are a tonne out on loan but I would be surprised if more than one or two ever make it at Utd. Of all the thousands of youths players Utd churn through through their various academies and channels the success rate is abysmal.
{Ed002's Note - It depends on the club and the number of decent quality youngsters they have produced. If you look at Chelsea thay have produced a lot of youngsters that have moved on due to the club deciding they won't make it or opportunities being better elsewhere (for example Tomori, Olise, Musiala, Abrahams, Livramento, Brewster, Ake, Guehi, Rice and Lamptey) whilst some have stayed and become regulars in the first team or are on loan (e.g. Christensen, James, Mount, Loftus Cheek, Colwill, Broja, Gallagher, Hudson Odoi etc.). So opportunity is there but there needs to be a plan for each player - a roadmap to move forward.}
5.) 29 Sep 2022 13:05:35
Great reply Ed, true Chelsea do seem to have a better success rate. You could compare the likes of Mount and Garner as two players whho weren't deemed ready and made great impacts in a lower division, but whereas one was given his chance and has cemented a first team berth Garner wasn't given a chance upon his return. Granted Chelsea's midfield was in a better place.
6.) 30 Sep 2022 07:15:52
Thank you ed002. Highly appreciated.
31 May 2021 16:46:35
Question for Ed 002, I know your akways busy, but when you have time, reading between the lines of a comment you made the other day about Raphina and enquiring about one of his agents other players. Would that player we enquired about be Edmond Tapsoba?
{Ed002's Note - No, not Tapsoba.}
1.) 01 Jun 2021 06:41:10
Didnt know Deco had become and agent.
2.) 01 Jun 2021 22:00:17
How about a game of Hangman Ed so we can guess which other player we enquired about? Or is it unimportant?
{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant.}
31 Jan 2021 14:01:02
Just like to say that we seem to lack any composure, patience and shape when we move forward when attacking during a match when needing to take the lead. Counter attacking is fine when you are winning games but teams like Liverpool and Man City gradually move up the pitch when they are searching for the 1st goal, they then move forward a lot quicker/ long ball when they counter. We just seem unable to pin teams back and just try and get the ball forward as quick as possibly generally resulting in lack of options and giving the ball away cheaply. That is down to the coaching and game management.
1.) 31 Jan 2021 15:07:41
Agree, we lack proper structure going forward.
There seems to be a lack of direction how the moves needs to be constructed.
2.) 31 Jan 2021 23:28:59
I think team is progressing well. Really like the way we are playing. Unfortunately Rashford and Martial are so inconsistent. Once we get right wing sorted and get Rashford playing from the left then we will start winning things.
3.) 01 Feb 2021 07:19:30
Jgb19031976 really? I guess a lot of people just have this idea that sorting out the right wing is going to help this team go and win things. Well it would certainly help balance the squad but we need more than just the right players.
Unless the manager is capable of utilizing and bringing the best out of the players available to him and brings in a more progressive approach to his tactics and the style of play the team is going to go through phases of both good and bad performances and ultimately not win anything.
4.) 01 Feb 2021 19:26:22
The problem is that Rashford was looking more and more like a top class LW around Oct/ Nov/ Dec, then we moved him to RW to accommodate Pogba.
Every man, woman and child knows that our best side is EITHER Fred/ McTom alongside Pogba in the middle, with Rashford left, Greenwood right and Bruno playing off of Cavani, yet for some reason we now play Rashford on the right, where he looks like a poor man’s Nani.
5.) 03 Feb 2021 00:51:23
This aged well.
6.) 03 Feb 2021 10:01:10
Burnley,
We just don’t attack enough and never score haha.
7.) 03 Feb 2021 18:10:10
Well what can I say, I rest my case, albeit aided by an early sending off we actually pinned a team back and sometimes went back to go forward, and look what happens. We will see if they can continue and impose more in future games when needing to take the lead.
01 Jan 2018 11:49:15
Happy New year to all eds and posters old and new. Any chance of a inkling of a surprise transfer to us this January Ed002? Something to warm the cockles of my heart this grey Dorset day as I'm covering my wife's charming cafe having avoided any alcohol for the last few months including last night. I am plying myself with high grade caffeine this morning accompanied with a smorgasbord of green teas and a bacon sandwich.
{Ed002's Note - Joao Mario will maybe emerge as a favoutite for midfield.}
1.) 01 Jan 2018 12:55:11
Are we targeting only one midfielder or two ed? . By us going after Mario means the end for milinkovic Savic and Soler or are these two transfers unrelated? .
{Ed002's Note - Why do you have to try and complicate everything?}
2.) 01 Jan 2018 13:52:46
Cheers Ed002 and a Happy New Year to you!
3.) 01 Jan 2018 13:51:06
Brilliant, thank you Ed002, cheered me up after enduring a shopping trip to the sales with the missus (part of the bargain reached to baggsie the big TV for Everton match later)
Does anyone have any info or opinions about Mario, apart from his penchant for Italian food? )
4.) 01 Jan 2018 14:02:09
I'll take Joao Mario. Think he a decent player who will fit well into the team. Will it be a loan with a view to buy or a transfer?
5.) 01 Jan 2018 16:01:45
No worries Ed. Happy new yr to everyone.
6.) 02 Jan 2018 11:41:58
Paper talk for me on Mario definitely can see Jose trying for Savic tho.
12 May 2017 20:40:36
Rumours that Renato Sanches is unsettled / Maybe available for transfer. Sorry ed not listened to sharkopod yet but wondered if a move was possible this summer or any inkling that this might be the case and that Bayern would let him leave for similar money in return?
{Ed002's Note - He has been a disaster and if they could mug some club in to buying him they would - they are trying to get a replacement in. The player has not coped with the cultural change at all - Manchester United got lucky last year.}
1.) 13 May 2017 07:12:27
He's a 19 year old boy. Hopefully he will grow up to become the player he looks like he can be.
2.) 13 May 2017 08:56:40
Is he one of those players who are unwilling to adapt to a new country or is he homesick and will only ever be successful on the Iberian peninsula?
{Ed002's Note - It is not that he is unwilling it is that it can be very difficult to adapt where everything is cuturally different, where the language is a problem, where the food is different, where the weather is poor etc..}
3.) 13 May 2017 13:54:34
Never thought that joining Bayern was the best move for him, not surprised at all it hasn't worked out. Hopefully he get's back on track soon though, think he has great potential.
4.) 13 May 2017 14:32:19
I'd be delighted to have him. So dynamic, would compliment Pogba very well I think.
5.) 13 May 2017 15:04:24
Have you watched him this season fresh. He had a very good euros, was decent in the Portuguese league. Beyond that, he leaves a lot to be desired.
I'd rather a more experienced player with pedigree than sanches.
6.) 13 May 2017 16:00:44
He has so much potential but he just wasn't ready for such a high profile move. Probably lacks a bit of maturity. I watched a game on telly that he came on in, he looked lost. You're right ed, United definitely dodged a bullet there.
Hopefully he can get some good advice and make his next move right for him and realise his potential.
7.) 13 May 2017 16:56:19
25 games for a 19 year old at Bayern in his first season in a new country seems ok to me hope he is surplus and we take him cause the boy is a top talent but got to feeling he is playing understudy for next season its the Bayern way to ease talent in and let them grow. personaly i would like Nianggolon for midfield and if James Rodriguez is available him to. And Beloti looks perfect for the prem hope he on the radar but I know Jose will improve us dramatically no matter who the targets are, we have bags of cash and some big profile players leaving can't wait for the summer transfer window.
8.) 13 May 2017 18:52:17
I think he worth a chance for a reasonable fee, I wouldn't go over 25 million though, feel like Mourinho would look after him.
9.) 14 May 2017 08:23:41
Good point Shane - maybe the Portuguese connection would make him feel happier (though can't do anything about the rain! )
You'd think BM would've done more to help him settle in though, such as placing him with a Portuguese family/ privibding extra lessons at college. Maybe that's not how it works and I'm being naive - can't be easy for a young lad to adapt to a whole new situation, where everything would seem foreign.
10.) 14 May 2017 08:52:16
If he has struggled with language, food and weather then he will struggle just as much here so it probably wouldn't make sense spending big money on him right now. He may become great, he may not.

Dorgu looks strong and quick, hopefully we are looking at taller more physical quick players.
I think it's clear it's a must now for the Premier League now and we are looking lightweight with too many short players.
it's not such a problem in wide area's (as long as they are quick, is Garnacho that quick? ) but in the spine of the team and the front 2/ 3 it is a problem.
If you start with an 11 of Martinez, Mainoo, Garnacho and Amad you will have problems without having more physicality in the team. Goes to show the recruitment again has not been suited to the needs of the squad imo.
1.) 20 Jan 2025 20:19:32
Supa we genuinely lack speed and stamina in nearly every position.
For several years now we Kim less fit and slower than nearly every team in the league.
I also agree with the height issue and physical strength.
So slow and so unfit.
2.) 20 Jan 2025 21:33:44
The little I've seen of Dorgu he looks a real athlete, strong and quick. He is also very offensive for a fullback making him an ideal option at wingback.
Young though and will need time to adjust and develop.
04 Jan 2025 12:30:07
Just to change the subject again a little bit and in relation to corners this season (of which I think many are illegal) .
Is obstruction still a foul in football?
**Obstruction is when a player moves into an opponent's path to block, slow down or force a change of direction when neither player can play the ball. It is not a foul if the players are already in each other's space and an accidental collision or contact occurs.
So most corners on moving to the goalkeeper and impeding the keeper by an opposition player is an offence, or moving to block an outfield player? Yes.
Will this affect English teams in Europe if referee's are viewing it slightly differently/ correctly. Yes.
1.) 04 Jan 2025 13:48:07
My opinion is that some current keepers aren’t aggressive enough coming from corners. I don’t want the game to lose its physicality. If a player is blocking the keeper’s path to the ball, they need to go through them. That’s part of the position.
2.) 04 Jan 2025 15:36:52
Might that not be a penalty Danny given the way players go down at the slightest contact?
3.) 04 Jan 2025 15:51:38
On one of those Newcastle goals, Onana was penned in on either side by players there purely to prevent him getting where he wanted to.
I agree, stronger keeping from corners is needed, now more than ever, but corners in themselves have suddenly become a minefield in themselves. Too much IMO.
4.) 04 Jan 2025 16:19:47
Same against wolves Spenno. The players arrived there as the kick was taken obviously not playing the ball and Onana unable to get to the ball.
5.) 04 Jan 2025 19:42:20
I think you are spot on. It's definitely obstruction and there is absolutely no intention by such players to play the ball. I think it is blatant cheating and can and should be penalised. Totally against the spirit of the game too.
6.) 04 Jan 2025 20:13:28
Its a form of cheating, one of many in the modern game. Players are being trained how to manipulate the rules. Long gone are the days of the beautiful game. I watch games from the 80's and 90's and the football is far more entertaining, more end to end, and far less of the modern nonsense.
7.) 04 Jan 2025 21:59:28
We’re conceding so many corner goals brciase we don’t man mark and simply try and mark a space
It’s pretty pathetic when you look at how we defend not just corners but any set piece.
8.) 04 Jan 2025 23:11:19
When the players all gather beyond the back post, how long until the defenders line up un a linked line and block them from making runs to the middle?
9.) 04 Jan 2025 23:21:29
Obstruction is an oddly interpreted rule in football. I'd interpret shepherding the ball out of play as obstruction if the intent is to stop another player getting it using your definition of obstruction Salford.
22 Sep 2024 22:52:25
How does Haaland not get a yellow for bouncing the ball off an arsenal player's head? Then barging a player straight after when Trossard got a yellow for the same thing? Baffling. Cesspit of a game when you see Akanji hands in the air celebrating Trossard 2nd yellow. Had Bruno did that, the pundits would be discussing the rest of the season.
Dalot can get 2 yellows at Anfield for one show of dissent. On another note, what has happened to yellow cards for dissent?
1.) 23 Sep 2024 00:01:28
There is no appetite to stoo dissemt from football.
If they wanted to tackle it they would, quite simply if you carded any dissent and backed up continuous dissent with a second yellow then in two weeks it would stop. The players do it because they can.
You don't see dissemt in rugby or the NFL, games where the participants are super hyped up. They smash out of each other but because they know the punishment will happen they know not to do it.
2.) 23 Sep 2024 02:05:11
Imagine the headlines if bruno smashed the ball off haalands head, or ran into a player and took a dive after 7 seconds like rodri.
Arsenal 'masters of the dark arts', never a word mentioned about pep's use of rotational fouling to break up all opposition attacks.
Crocodile tears.
3.) 23 Sep 2024 03:52:32
Bernardo Silva was at the ref all game, yet only got booked late on! Even sky sports didn't make a issue abt haaland bouncing the ball off a player's head, it's comical what they get away with.
4.) 23 Sep 2024 09:24:26
What did Roy keane get away with when we were on top?
5.) 23 Sep 2024 11:21:21
So now every game you can score a goal and celebrate by bouncing the ball off the back of an opponents head?
Could be Haaland's trade mark celebration now, he seems to be able to do what he likes.
6.) 23 Sep 2024 11:22:59
I don't know tumbleweed what did Roy Keane get away with when we were on top? Bit off topic as I thought we were in the here and now.
7.) 23 Sep 2024 12:13:58
Bounced a ball off his head?
Straight to prison.
8.) 23 Sep 2024 12:48:11
Haalands reaction was done in the heat of the moment and silly and immature not a shooting offence.
With regard to dissent totally agree that it is up to the refs to impose the law. If they all act immediately there is dissent then within a few weeks it will stop.
BUT the refs also need to use common sense and communicate better with the players. A quiet word to a captain to explain a particularly contentious decision might help lessen the problem. Also rather than brandashing a yellow card immediately take ten seconds to think about whether a yellow card is warranted.
9.) 23 Sep 2024 12:56:04
I thought it was pretty funny, by the time Gabriel lifted his shirt to see who it was Haaland was long gone lol
Haaland showed an unsporting side of his game on a few occasions, had a bit of a swipe at Arteta after the game too.
10.) 23 Sep 2024 13:00:39
The ref lost all control of that game yesterday. Both sides were pretty bad with a lot of the stuff that was going on.
The 2nd goal from arsenal is blocking and gets called 95% of the time. They did the same to us with that late rice winner last year, blocked Maguire and long to the back post. In general prem refs are really poor and very few games no matter who is playing were the ref has a good game.
Last year everything that touched our hand was called a pen now its almost impossible to get a handball pen in the box.
11.) 23 Sep 2024 13:33:05
Some of you have such short memories and moaning about that sorry of behaviour while cheering hinted on as we did the same thing years ago.
Sorry woo is me supasub. Dalot last season is here and now I see???.
12.) 23 Sep 2024 14:01:15
I think over the years Arsenal have lost that nastiness that they had in invincibles era but is back in full force again, I like it.
As an aside, it's been fascinating watching the art of blatant blocking from corners develop in the last few seasons. It's at a pretty stupid level now, corners have become a warzone in themselves.
13.) 23 Sep 2024 14:28:25
Wish we had more of it.
14.) 23 Sep 2024 15:52:19
Well Dalot is still playing tumbleweed, and that was in relation to dissent and yellow cards.
Anyway what did Keane used to get away with as you brought it up?
15.) 23 Sep 2024 16:29:00
Look for the videos.
16.) 23 Sep 2024 20:11:46
Keano was reckless i think he should be dropped for the next game.
17.) 23 Sep 2024 23:27:29
I don't have a video player and footage archived of all of Keano's misdemeanours. It would take far less effort to give an example in your posts Ken seeing.
18.) 24 Sep 2024 03:29:17
Nothing wrong with that arsenal corner. Quality set piece. awful defending from the most over rated defender in the league, kyle walker.
City were very lucky to nick a point. Terrible performance where they had no game plan and gave most of the possession to their centrebacks in non dangerous areas.
From the very start city created an atmosphere of injustice and the crowd and pep were moaning at everything. They should have been more worried about how they were playing against 10 men.
I found myself hoping arsenal could hold out, even though they showed zero ambition all second half. Reminded me a little of some of the old classic ding songs we had with arsenal.
19.) 24 Sep 2024 07:07:24
Why are people worrying what Haaland does. I thought it was funny. We have developed a bit of a victim mentality too, it seems.
20.) 24 Sep 2024 08:53:25
Spot on banjoe.
21.) 24 Sep 2024 09:39:54
Not a victim mentality as much as double standards. Haaland telling arteta to stay humble? He will have no sympathy from me if he gets what happened to rodri, maybe he will learn humility.
22.) 24 Sep 2024 09:46:20
Yep. The bogan has gone out of the game. I would not last 5 minutes on the park these days.
23.) 24 Sep 2024 12:27:43
So in it's generally acceptable to have that as a goal celebration all the time then, kids and adults bouncing footballs off the opponents heads after scoring a goal (it would be funny! so it's acceptable. ) How much is too much purchase on throwing it at someones head for it to merit a mention from the ref? Overarm or under arm? What about about a half volley? Is it confined to just using your hands?
24.) 24 Sep 2024 12:46:55
Haalands trash can't stand the guy and he isn't as good as people think he is. he's got the trashest personality ever no matter how good the guy is.
25.) 24 Sep 2024 14:06:21
Could have killed him it's a real shocker.
26.) 24 Sep 2024 15:18:24
Acceptable up and down the country in matches from kids to adults then Ken? I detect the sarcasm from my usual stalker who somehow manages to take an opposite view without any explanation.
If you want to see more of it, how about just half volleys into opponents after scoring goals?
In fact why not to waste time take throw ins by launching them at an opponents head enough to make the ball go back out of play and get another throw in then creep up the line to same opponent or a different one?
27.) 24 Sep 2024 18:50:37
It was a moment in time players have thrown the ball at other players since the game began.
You will see it in most leagues a couple of times a year. You will see it at grass roots more often than that.
It's nothing new not a big deal I'm not quite sure what your point is other than it shouldn't be allowed.
I agree and it's not allowed.
It wasn't dangerous and there was no danger of damage. It was a dumb move but its not a shocker or anything that unusual.
He should have been booked for it I take it from your reaction that he wasn't. Again regs make bad calls in every game and have done since it started.
So I'm not disagreeing with you at all I just think it's a non story.
Martinez should have got a red card and didn't. Again a mad moment in time another non story as there was no damage.
28.) 24 Sep 2024 21:05:57
Roy Keane was sent off at Newcastle on shearer for doing to exact same thing. plus a swiped a punch at him ? but he went. Personally I thought it was funny.
29.) 25 Sep 2024 10:25:26
All so serious. Lighten up.
21 Jun 2024 17:30:14
Loving the thread further doen.
Trumours, MBD and Maze? More blasts from the past.
Anyone remember the Liverpool posters who used to frequantly come across, Blair Mayne and . lfc? good for banter.
1.) 21 Jun 2024 20:55:37
Yeah, and mighty reds as well supa.
2.) 22 Jun 2024 09:46:08
Exactly Supasub! We need Ronnie now to give us a random academy name :P.
3.) 22 Jun 2024 14:19:30
Ronnie, bless him, he only really had eye's for Tielemans most of the time.
4.) 23 Jun 2024 11:21:48
Yeh Blair Mayne… some mad takes.
We need a wall or remembrance for these guys.
5.) 23 Jun 2024 18:34:35
Considering some of them stopped posting due to spending time courtesy of Her majesty's pleasure, you might find that they have already had their picture honoured on a wall. As a wanted poster ?.
06 Oct 2023 18:01:20
Whilst referee decisions have been discussed this week. Can someone explain the Palace decision or no hand ball where the ball was crossed and hit the players outstretched arm when ok, he was facing the other way? What's the rule there? I know Amrabat's late on could maybe now be considered too close.
1.) 07 Oct 2023 07:53:25
I can't as i don't understand how one is given and one is not. it affects play in that moment and its a handball so go figure.
13 Jan 2025 11:41:41
Mainoo contract is until 2027 with a 1 year extension available to 2028. It'll be sorted this year, no rush. Just media BS.
25 May 2024 10:36:51
I think Mckenna will be encouraged to stay where he is to take over after Tuchel.
28 Dec 2022 11:32:58
I think he's the new generation Veratti, Xavi, Scholes type player. If we get him then I think midfield is complete. Hopefully we just put the money on the table and as Ed has said, the player has a preference of coming to us.
24 Nov 2022 12:20:19
Carlos Slim ed? Just chucking that name out there, he's got a few bob and I thought I saw years ago that he was a Manchester United supporter but I might be wrong.
{Ed002's Note - No. If you want to go down thr route of the Liverpool supporters and simply ask about the wealthiest people the posts will all end up being deleted.}
17 Nov 2022 10:45:36
Salary cap would'nt work, you'd probably find Mbappe would have a second job with Abu Dhabi airlines as cabin crew on £25 million per year.
23 Jan 2025 17:13:15
Maguire has been better for us due to his size whereby the premier league referee's are allowing more physicality all of a sudden.
I watched a few corners yesterday evening in the champions league and as soon as the goal keeper was impeded/ obstructed, free kick given. No opposition players allowed to stand on the goal line either blockingthe keeper from getting onto his line from in-swinging corners placed under the cross-bar.
We seem to have two-tier refereeing now compared to Europe when it comes to corners, something will need to change if they are to align.
19 Jan 2025 19:23:33
It was a shocking challenge. I don't know how Mitoma, Veltman, Estupian and Pedro didn't get yellows in the game. The referee was very soft. Dissent and shirt pulling seem to be ok now.
I notice that their manager was constantly at the 4th official before halftime knowing that they will chat to the referee. Klopp was always at it and I noticed now slot is. I'm sure moans get relayed to the referee. Amorim doesn't seem to do it. Either to his credit or to his detriment. Brighton deserved to win, they showed that they'd been together for longer, knew their roles, took any opportunity to go to ground and stay there. Well drilled I guess but if the referee doesn't police pulling, pushing, going down easily early on then they make a rod for their own back.
17 Jan 2025 13:04:32
Bruno drops into midfield slightly to make a 3 sometimes and with special-ist wing backs 1 can tuck in to make a 3 in midfield, the opposite side giving the width depending on where the ball is and if in possession or not.
Just needs some more coaching and changes in players to get the fluidity.

Was going to say the sane thing Ken. They've become a vile diving cheating team. Arteta is becoming an unlikeable manager too who behaved ridiculously for Dalot's second yellow (I think Martinelli is still rolling across London as we post! )
Saka (even though he wasn't playing) is quiet when he doesn't have Odegaard. Shut down Odegaard and stop their set pieces and they offer little else. Glad we missed out on Timber, he seems more interested in pushing and pulling rather than what he should be doing. The referee was poor. We gave Arsenal a taste of their own medicine on a corner once and it gets called a foul? Consistency? No.
We on the other hand in the last 2 games may be seeing the shoots of being likeable with a likeable manager. Putting the effort as a team, working hard being controlled in the aggression and looking more like a collective than I've seen for a while. Thought Maguire and De Ligt were outstanding on their set pieces. Keeper did well and I thought Zirkzee did really well in his short appearance. Ugarte continuing to do a lot of the dirty work. The first signs that we've now hit our bottom and must now build momentum. Reminded me a little of the 99 semi final, man sent off missed penalty, against the odds stuff.

Goes back to when SKY/ Rupert Murdoch were interested in purchasing the club to protect themselves. Each club will be able to sell their own streaming rights.
It will happen just not sure when as it's probably blocked by the FA and UEFA.
