Does anyone else think it's an ample opportunity to give either Morrison or Pogba 20 minutes or so against QPR is we're leading comfortably? Like Fryers against Wolves, I for one would love to see Morrison mainly but Pogba as well get a run out in the league.

Id love to see Khedira, F. Torres and Cahill here - would be class.

A team of:

De Gea

Jones
Ferdinand
Cahill
Eva

Valencia
Khedira
Cleverly
Nani

Rooney
Torres

This looks scarily good - i really hope this happens. Then in summer get maybe a right or left back and a more attacking midfielder like Hamsik or Gotze.

i think fergie should splash out in jan bring in gary cahill cut price as his contract is up in the summer also mario goetze is a perfect player who is similar to paul scholes and lucas the brazillian and also maybe a def mid like sami kadhiera. these 4 would be perfect or maybe just 3 of them and cleverley to come back {Ed004's Note - Gotze recently got injured}

Now I know it was only one game but shaquiri(spelling) gave us a horrible time in the basel game. Looked physically capable, put a few good crosses and was playing a more advanced role across the entire midfield. Is he available? Are we looking at him? and anyone want to gues what he would cost? I think he could be a cracking player for us.

For me all we are missing is 1 top draw cm in Jan and then the situation be looked at again in the summer. Martinez would be my ideal choice, maybe Eriksson, maybe Sneijder.... Let's be honest any would be an improvement. I'm no big fan of Carrick but I'd put my house on him looking much more assured with a top class partner. It seems to me that at the min all our cm's (Clev apart when fit) are dragging each other down and making each other look bad. Roll on Jan!

Hi guys, does anybody know if the rumours of a Sandro or Sami Khedira bid in Jan have any foundation or just the usual made up rubbish on the back of Fletcher being out sick. Would we get one of them on the cheap seeing as they aren't exactly regulars for their clubs at the mo.

A little behind the news but caught sight of a few comments about Darren Fletcher on the LFC site today.

Always had plenty to say about Fletcher but sincerely wish him a speedy recovery. In one way it answers the question about his form this year. He looked a pale shadow from the player he was 18 months ago.

You suspect he may struggle to get back to his best with this illness. Let's hope if/when he does come back he is the Fletcher of old, kicking everything that moves and using that right foot to pick out Berbatov to head in the winner, only this time not against LFC.

Okay Gibson is not world class.
But he ain't that bad.
He is an average PL player.
I believe we should give him a run of 3-4 games. He has a cracker of a shot. If he still can't cope up then sell him.
An average PL player who can do the 'job' and is 4th-5th choice and is experienced enough is rare.
IMO he hasn't been bad. He's been just okay. We dont play that much through the middle.
I mean if our wingers are on song, we win, if not we lose. We rely on them for most of the creativity.
Also signing Krasic could be nice as 4 wingers can be rotated depending on form.

You use to be able to come on this site and have a bit of banter with the Eds that seems to be dead in the water lately (007 excluded)
Lads are posting innocent "banter" like posts and are getting ripped apart for doing so.
Im not having a go so please dont react that way or ban me I am just making a point although it prob wont get posted.

The Eds do a great job I know and give their time freely so no offense meant would be just good to post without getting called names or have the threat of being banned.

Devil Dust. {Ed002's Note - The problem started yesterday and unless you happen to know the full story you may best be advised not to start digging any hole for yourself about it. It was an extemely serious issue and we do not appreciate any little digs or posts like this right now. Ignorance of the matter and saying nothing is best.}

2 things from an LFC fan
First best wishes to Darren Fletcher - a very under rated player and hope for a full recovery.
Second please don't buy Torres as then SAF will put him with Owen just against us hoping that they both score to annoy us even more!

Given the current injury list, i think signings are in order.
If we were working on a streamlined budget, id personally go for;
-cahill( both ferdy and vidic dont have alot of time left, cahill is going cheap and has epl experience)

-rodwell( i think he ll be a better option than gibson, giggs and park in midfield)

-nathan( this will allow smalling to get back to CB)
-Higuain( id do a straight swap with madrid for henandez)

the above would cost no more than £25m and would leave enough money for a creative midfielder. Id go back for sniejder for about £25m.
The transfers could be spread between 2 windows( jan and june). Part of the cost would be offset by sellings the deadwood.

Sydney, top teams are always looking for squad players. Elm is better than Gibson Anderson Giggs Park and would come in at a decent price has all the attributes to succeed with us. By your reasoning we should be like City, Chelsea, Real and only sign the big name players. Players like Park would have been considered a squad player at the time of signing. These squad players add depth and quality two things we are sorely lacking at the moment.

Best of luck to Darren Fletcher in his fight against illness.
Saddens me that it further strips the dressing room of lads that have been brought through the club from an early age. In recent months we have lost Scholes, Neville, Wes and O'Shea and that has to have an impact on the morale at both the training ground and dressing room. Very sad.
On the back of this, interesting to see all the January " targets " being banded around when we have some kids in the squad, who given a chance could step up to the plate and do a job, at least, until we wait for others to return. This recipe worked for us in 99 and it frustrates me, that we appear to be holding back the likes of Morrison and Pogba . If nothing else it would fire the fans enthusiasm and surely there cant be better opportunities than Wigan and Blackburn, in which to give them a test ?
Happy xmas to all Reds and heres hoping we gain maximum points.

Watching the FIFA Club World cup right now Santos are playing and Neymar has just scored an absolute wonder goal. Christ the thought of him at Utd taking over that number 11 jersey from Giggs is beautiful. He and Ganso would be perfect for our teams needs. He can play ST/WG/ and just off the front man could be worth a cheeky double bid would be worth mega bucks but they would pay off the transfer fee through the jersey sales and sheer marketability. Fit the bill in terms of buying young players with tremendous upside . Neymar is as a exciting if not more so than Ronaldo at the same age guy has shown more tricks and skills in 21 minutes of this match than Young has all season. Such a goal threat as well Ganso is fit again and this guy is an absolute technician in the middle of the park alongside Cleverley and Carrick with Nani Neymar and Rooney up front i'd like to see someone contain them. Chicharito Welbeck Young Valencia on the bench. (ed, is there a reason you don't attach my name to my posts?) {Ed002's Note - If you put a name to the posts people would be able to see it. We don't even know what your name is. A couple of points aside from Neymar and Ganso not moving to Old Trafford. A bid for both at 100M euros was turned down this summer. Secondly, you perhaps misunderstand where the money from shirt sales goes - but it is not to Manchester United unless the shirts are sold through an outlet of theirs - and then they only get the merchants payments.}

Ross Barkley frustrated by lack of Everton appearances. This could be his way of letting clubs know he is open for a move this January. He is certainly someone SAF is interested in, the problem is although he has the potential to be something pretty special, he will not make an instant impact on the team. Could be ready for next season though and perhaps SAF will make do with Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson & Jones until then?

Interesting news in the press this morning that Fernando Torres and Nigel De Jong could be both available in January.
Difficult for us getting them as they play for our main rivals but why not have a go, both top players.
Have always liked De Jong a perfect answer to our DM problems especially with Fletch gone for a while.
If anyone could get Torres back on track surely its SAF, still think if he was fully fit and firing on all cylinders the best CF in the Prem.
Still remember him destroying Vidic a few times and not many can say that.

With injuries our central midfield looks like this with the players available:

Carrick
Gibson
Jones
Pogba
Giggs

I think we have to buy, Rodwell would instantly improve us. Martinez would be the better choice but SAF hugely admires Rodwell. Maybe a player like Elm will come in as well as a squad player.

Torres would also be the player i'd like, get rid of Berbatov, Owen, Macheda and Diouf. That would leave us with Rooney, Torres, Hernandez and Welbeck - SAF has historically been most happy with 4 strikers.

Lastly a defender is needed, Clyne and Cahill are my two picks, Clyne is a good project and Cahill is the England center back for the next few years. And both deals will be cut price.

Really interesting that Torres is up for sale. I'd definatly like to see us go for him, I think SAF will go for experienced Premier League players so on his list I think will be Torres, Rodwell and Cahill to supplement what we already have.

It really is good to see fans from every club getting involved in hoping Fletcher gets well soon, been our 3rd most important player in the last 3/4 years IMO.

Hopefully He'll be back next season, but nonetheless I think we'd all rather he'd keep his health and leave the game that risk his health and play.

True gentleman and despite the hate he gets every now and again he's a top player. no fancy skills, no fuss just gets the job done.

Get well soon Fletch.

Many people feel SAF won't delve into the market in january but his hand must be forced now surely. He must buy at the very least one CM, personally I feel he has something in the pipeline already (sneaky old devil) . He generally always says we're not going to spend and then we do. There are some gems out there someone suggested Vertonghen great idea guy plays CB/CDM/CM/LB good in the air, FU!#!N cannon of a Left foot. Rasmus Elm is another proper box to box CM fantastic shot on him as well would be great squad player. Personally i'm excited to see what happens in January

Ed just reading over the banter today and it's great to see Darren Fletcher held in such high regard by fans of all clubs. As I said in my previous post, he is often criticised (wrongly IMO) for his performances with Scotland. However his work rate, determination and undoubted passion and all other qualities that he brings to both United and Scotland have clearly made a big impact.

The Tartan Army are very proud of our skipper, so it's very nice to see.

Steven.
(Proud Rangers, United & Scotland fan.) {Ed001's Note - I remember when people used to wonder if he was Fergie's love child, how we all used to scratch our heads and wonder how the hell he got in the team. But he won over the majority of the fans, and his time out of the team has shown just how important he had become to United. He has a horrible illness, I just hope he can return to fitness and be able to return to playing at the level he reached before. Get well soon Darren.}

Just want to send my best wishes to Darren Fletcher after hearing the news of his illness and consequent extended break from the game. Very important player for Manchester United and Scotland. Gets a lot of criticism for his national performances but games would be much tougher without him in the side. He does lots of unselfish work and gets others playing as well as helping the younger members of the squad a great deal. So as a proud member of the Tartan Army, I would like to say all the best Fletch. Get well soon skipper.
