i don't think we would sign sneidjer dis summer or ever are people really serious this dude is 27 and wants astronomical wages dat united are not used to. fergie has come out to dismiss such rumours but people still think its going to happen why can't some people accept the fact that he is too expensive all the papers who say we are gonna sign him barely have any proof but here we have an interview of SAF himself dismissing the rumours and people are still expecting this deal to happen. i personally don't think its going to happen just like the nasri moment the sneidjer moment would also pass and we would move on. the fact we spent a similar amount on berba would not easily be repeated and i think fergie knows the same hence the little bids like 15 million for thiago and 12 euros for lamela (rumours) also i don't think we are out of the sanchez race despite the talk about barca unless cesc isn't bought this summer. i think a midfielder would be bought but it WOULDN'T be sneidjer. rant over

The mass exodus continues as Robbie Brady joins Hull on loan and Oliver Gill has turned down a new United contract to go to University. You have to applaud the lad for it. He could quite easily make a Championship player at worst and earn himself 5k-10k a week, but he has chosen an education. Or at least he will continue his education first. Who knows if he will make a comeback?

The reserves from last season have been stripped down to the bare bones. It's only Petrucci, Norwood, Brown, Drinkwater & James left after King & Wootton complete their loan moves to Gladbach & Posh. The rest are the U18's from last season. I believe Drinkwater will be sold, Norwood, James, Petrucci & Brown could be the only survivors to play in the reserves next season.

Mind you I am looking forward to seeing Brown, Norwood & Petrucci join ranks with the U18's for the reserve league.

Evening folks. I know the last 2 or 3 years when Fergie's come out and said there's no value in the market maybe there has been a few players he could have got for a "fair" price, but this window is a bit of a wierd one. There are a lot of decent footballers out there at the moment but some of the figures been banded about are criminal.

30 million is not good enough to buy an above average footballer anymore let alone a world class player. I know you have to take a risk but paying 30, 40 and even 50 million for players that have had 1 - 2 decent seasons is madness.

Dare i say "Theres no value in the market"

Not a rumour, just a thought....

Barcelona are front runners for Sanchez and are supposed to be using the bulk of their transfer fund.

I was thinking why don't Man Utd bid £40 million for Fabregas. This would force Barcalona's hand if they were really want him. This would then maybe turn there attention to Fabregas maybe making Sanchez free again. It would be interesting to see what kind of reaction it would get. I know Cesc wants to go to Barca, but if we are talking about Utd spending £35 million on a 27 year old (Sniedjer) then would Cesc be better business. Or maybe we could end up then getting Sanchez...

Well just a thought....?

No more signings until January now.

De Gea will be number one goalkeeper. Lindegaard will get the chances to prove himself in FA Cup games and maybe the odd league games against little teams.

Rafael will play RB. Vidic will play CB. Ferdinand will start at CB next season but he and Phil Jones will be rotated depending on fitness levels/injuries. Evra will play LB.

Right Midfield will be Valencia and like Ferdinand... He and Nani will be rotated as Ferguson realised that Nani actually played better on the Right than he does on the Left. In the center we will have Carrick, Fletcher, Park, Giggs, Anderson. 2 of these will play and these will be rotated so everyone gets playing time and to cover for injuries etc. Left Midfield will be Young. Ferguson sees alot of talent in Young who has made a great start to the team in America.

Up front we will have Rooney and Hernandez. When subs are made we may see a midfielder taken off and either Owen or Berbatov put on. At this point, Rooney will drop into midfield and the striker that comes on will play up front with Hernandez.

Ferguson has explained to the likes of Welbeck and Macheda that they will play their part for United this season and they will be important just like every other player.

you've probable heard joel campbell has decided against talks with arsenal with rumours man utd have hijacked the deal raw but looks good from what ive seen on you tube b4 i get the every1s good on you tube speech haha wenger knows how to spot a talent fairly cheap what you think ed or just another bebe {Ed007's Note - I think the only reason he hasn't entered into talks with Arsenal is because of the upcoming Under-20s World Cup, so I think it would be the same for any team trying to sign him}

Ed, Sir Alex has made it his priority to invest in young talent for the future and for when he steps down there is a solid nucleus for the new gaffer to work with, so with this in mind and after stories in the press regarding s#*$y, chelski and arsenal chasing Lukaku, why don't we bid for him? But all accounts, the boy's a player, Rooney, Hernandez and Lukaku, not bad really I do appreciate we got 6 strikers but Owen and berba are both in 30's Any thoughts Ed, Sydney?

dear mr rainfishtrombone
one small observation from ngiak
for a person who is trying to dedicate his 'life' in trying to make sure our beloved club is not 'dragged in the mud'
you seem to be slinging a lot of 'mud' yourself at it the last few years
many baseless and senseless observations and conspiracy theories
ngiak wonders what is your end point?
ngiak has his own conspiracy theories
wanna hear them?
more sales of green and gold scarves to fill your coffers?
or you have a new business plan?
guess it would be better to line your pockets than our actual owners, right?
btw where are we on the Forbes list?
also how much more revenue have we generated the last 5 years? and...
how much more in the near future?
oh by the way
before the glazers, how much nett did the shareholders of man united earn?
you aware of any of these answers
or you deem them unimportant
as usual?
gan"""
dear mr rainfishtrombone
since you persist in your slander,
ngiak too shall persist in insisting for answers to his questions he has been asking you for more than a year.

i am just throwing a question out there? in the last 5 years how many cmidfielders has fergie bought and why so few? its not as if were overloaded with em. also other than fletch we havent brought any youth through so why the blindspot with that position? i have a feeling that veron burnt his fingers so bad that hes scared to buy any remember djemba miller webb phelan even anderson is questionable? i know he bought keane but nearly lost him to blackburn? i just think he has a weakness in finding centre midfielders? b4 people start bleeting about fergie being this and that remember hes not perfect he maybe the best but that dosent mean hes always right THE GUVNOR

sir alex to choose from 2 formations this coming season -

4-2-3-1 - with rooney striker lm nani rm valencia cam young with the 3 rotating as all 3 can play acroos the pitch imo nani is best down the right young left valencia behind but then u suffer from nanis crossing ability as he has none then sometimes dropping rooney to cam with hernandez striker and one of the three benched with holding mf fletch and maybe a new signing like sissoko or hernanes.

4-1-2-1-2 - with rooney and hernandez up top nani and valencia on wings with young in behind rotating witht he two wingers and fletch cdm or a new signing maybe diarra sissoko hernandes maybe.

it is just what i believe will hapen and obviously if nani leaves young will be pushed out wide then a cam will have to be bought etc and if berba leaves or we sign cavani benzema etc then things will change .

IN the last couple of days SAF "Maybe I am a bit overloaded in the strikers' positions. The alternatives in midfield are not nearly as strong. But I have a good squad"

PEPG "We need a forward. We have more players in midfield than in attack. Bojan [Krkic] and Jeffr n [Su rez] both want to leave, so the attack is more important."

Could there be an option here for both teams, maybe Berba one way and Thiago the other way?

I hate pasting things onto this site, but this was the translated quotes from Sneijder's dad:

The father of the talented Dutch, spoke to , has confirmed the strong interest from Manchester United for Inter director: "Manchester United have offered my son a million dollar contract for five years. Wesley loves Milan and Inter, but the proposal of the leaders of the Red Devils is really interesting from an economic standpoint. In the coming days will decide the future together. "

Words that freeze the back of the president Moratti that despite the bridges of gold promised by Ferguson has no intention to deprive himself of his ace.

It's a rough translation.

Sorry new to the Banter part of the site, only usually go on the rumours, But RAINFISHTROMBONE comments about SAF really annoyed me actually.

One comment inparticular was fergie just views united as a nice little earner. Are you actually a United fan? Because if you are you should have more respect for what he has actually done for us. He does'nt get the success and win as many trophies as he has done when your heart is'nt in it, the Man is 69 years old going on 70 and is still doing all he can to win us the next trophy. I think you talk just to be contreversial and have read to many conspiracy theories get a grip man. You should actually appreciate being around to see fergie and how he works, Cause make no doubt about it he will go down as the greatest manager ever.

I am getting bored reading again and again about Sneijder and RAINFISHTROMBONE's baseless allegations on SAF.

I would like to bring up an old debate. Which is more of a question for Sydney! and Ed001. Do you two still believe that Rodwell is a better prospect or "potential" than Wilshere?

I see alot of posts on here to give pogba a chance instead of buying new CM.......id like to give my opinion on this

I have watched alot of reserve games and can see that there is huge potential in this young player but i really cannot see him playing for 1st team yet. I would like to see him go on loan to a smaller club in the premier league such as QPR or norwich where he can develop further and get used to the pace of the league.

i think ando will be given more of a free roll this season in the middle, we all know he is capable just hope he can produce some more consistancy in his performance....wot u think eds? {Ed007's Note - I don't see nearly enough of the reserves/youth to comment on Pogba but he is highly rated by others on here, including yourself.}

If Fergie spends £25-£30m on Kaka then he's lost the plot. Kaka is 29 years old and has had too many injury problems since join Real Madrid. He's no where near the player he was at Milan. Sure Fergie might get him playing well again but it's way too much of a gamble.

There are people on this site who like darklard 08 who will totally ignore whatever players and managers are up to or make excuses for them as long as we are winning and then they wonder why players and managers have no concept of reality and behave so badly. One interesting point from last nights program that no one has mentioned. Bryan Robson our greatest captain refered to us as Man U. Imagine the abuse he would get if he did that on this site. I don't curry favour on this site or just go along with the crowd and I am not afraid to say when something is wrong. Someday it will all come out, maybe in the 3 years time as was suggested last night when Fergie calls it a day..RAINFISHTROMBONE

I'm a big fan of Paul Scholes but what's the panic. Last season he appeared in 23 games inc subs out of 60 scoring 1 goal. We have young guys coming through who will cover that. Give Anderson, Cleavery, Pogba and Morrison a chance. We'll be great for the next 10 years with them. Jay

Basically there was nothing about United in there as such. But, as usual with the media, if you want to get people to watch your show, you plaster it with United logos. Understandable, given the size of our support and how many ABUs there are out there to feed off.

The two United links worth commenting on:

Bryan Robson - appears to say it's possible to buy / own two football clubs (against FA rules). However, I'm not sure there isn't some clever editing going on to make it look worse than it was. I suspect we're talking about a 20% / 30% holding in each club. The fund company Robbo was working for appears to want to work in a similar way to NESV (whilst lacking any of their ability, it would seem) - and nobody would question them.

SAF - basically somebody who knew Fergie a bit went on about how he was almost Fergie's best friend. Didn't appear to be anything at all to it, to me, other than someone trying to close a business deal and massively exaggerating his personal friendships to do it.

Let's be honest - if you want to say you know someone in football, you're going to say Fergie.

DarkLard08

@How long ago was the footage recorded when Robbo said that? When did the rules come into place, that stop people owning two football clubs? Ed? Anyone?

XXX {Ed007's Note - As far as I know it's always been a rule?? Anyone else know different?}

As much as I think Jones and De Gea are good buys (Young is still a question mark for me), I still can't help but look at our starting XI and it's the same as last year. We're going to need to be better in the PL this season, and to beat Barca we obviously needed to improve. I don't view any of our signings as helping our chances this season (Jones won't play in big matches, De Gea will be as good as VDS if we're lucky, but there's no improvement at the spot this season). Many people seem to feel like buying a "superstar" would be a mistake, but without improving one or two spots in the best XI, I dont see how we can improve enough to win both big trophies. Sneijder may or may not be the answer, but there are atleast a dozen world class players available for varying prices, and I feel like this transfer window will be a small improvement at best if we don't bring in atleast one guaranteed first XI player....What do u think?
