get this straight liverpool fans Suarez has been charged with being racist towards evra it is not a vendetta the f.a. have against your team, they have taken 2 months to look at evidence and then found him guilty, 8 games is not enough imo, for liverpool to say they still think he is innocent is a joke, even if they appeal he has still been found guilty, for a football team no matter if it was Liverpool or united to stand by a player who is racist at their club is a disgrace, and I feel if he was a fringe player they would not stand by him, {Ed003's Note - He was not found guilty of being a racist }

eds, regular guys..what is your opinion not the verdict but rather the mentality of seemingly the majority of lfc fans?

Why is this all of a sudden a shock? As if suarez doesnt have previous! The guy said the word 'negro'...in relation to another persons skin colour as the two were exchanging insults...if you or i were to do this, i would not be given time off work and a fine that equates to less than a weeks wages..it would be far more serious.

Another thing that really gets under my skin is dagleash taking to the media about how unfair everything is for liverpool, this is surely putting it in the back of the fa's mind, possibly come appeal day..? I also dont understand the constant involvement of liverpool as one of the top clubs in the epl...the last time a checked no-one remembered 6th place....

James {Ed003's Note - James you are clearly enjoying a swipe at Liverpool,If the boot was on the other foot you would also be upset at the way this whole thing as been handled }

Glad the FA have taken a firm stance on the racism charges. But I absaloutley gibsmacked by what LFC have written within their press release?!

How can they get away with that?

Especially liked the comment his Grandad is black so he can't be racist!

How can you charge somebody without evidence. The decision was made on the WORD of Evra who has history of being a liar. No other player, official, TV camera, fan etc heard comments.

In British law you cannot find person guilty without evidence. This will get overturned.

I cannot believe that, even after Suarez has been found guilty, some Liverpool supporters think Sir Alex is behind all of this! It's almost routine for a minority of Liverpool fans to just blame Fergie when anything happens to their club. But I suppose that's easier than facing the facts, that their current pin-up boy isn't whiter than white (no pun intended).

Tried to post this on the LFC page but it doesnt look like they want any Liverpool supporters agreeing with the suarez ban, I think it needs to be heard, I think i have a right to speak my mind on the situation

When we signed Suarez i knew he would bring shame on our club, What do expect from a person that bites another player during a game? Now that he has been found guilty of making racist remarks i want him out o our club, No need or racisim in this day and age, He's suppost to be a role model to millions o people around the world, Get him out of our club, Im expecting a backlash from this post but those who stick up for a racist are no better themselves, We're better than that, I dont want to see him in our colours again, pbabb {Ed007's Note - The LFC page has went into meltdown mate. The Eds are trying to get through the posts as quickly as possible.}

Red man "At £15 to £19M Gaitan might be worth
a chance" agree mate on the face of it. I'd read though that we've been following him since boca so maybe that got a truer sense of what he can bring there. What I keep reading of him from the sources I trust are of skills I haven.'t really seen as yet in his position as a winger and i've seen a few games now. I gotta admit mate I'm starting to think he's a dark horse. But as I don't know if we are actually in for him. I think i'll put my interest on hold. ..constantine..

Just read Liverpool's statement. I'm sure you can't say this publicly: "It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible - certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations." Your boy made a mistake and now he's paying for it, get on with it and move on. Firstly, Evra personally has not accused anyone and secondly, I hope they get fined for running their mouth.

Guillem Balague confirms Neymar will join Barcelona another superstar to there team. FC Barcelona have paid an initial instalment on Neymar`s planned transfer from Santos. The European champions have paid the South American club – who they defeated in the final of the Club World Cup on Sunday - €10million (£8.4m) in return for an unilateral option to sign the forward at any point until 2014. Barcelona are expected to pay around €60m (£50.4m) should they complete the transfer

Were Santos to renege on the agreement, Barcelona would be entitled to a compensation payment of €20m (£16.8m). Neymar has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona president Sandro Rosell, who used his connections and influence in the South American market to see off competition from Chelsea and Real Madrid for the Brazil international`s signature.

19-year-old Neymar has not been shy in praising Barcelona recently (the Brazilian already enjoys a strong friendship with Dani Alves and Lionel Messi and the trio often engage in online matches of Playstation football) - much to the annoyance of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who previously thought he had tied the player down to a pre-contract agreement and chided him in a phone conversation for his public affection for Madrid`s rivals.PRR8

Eight game ban for Suarez, he will probably get a 3-5 game ban for the finger gesture too. Whether they run concurrently or not we don't know, but he could be missing for the next 13 games.

So Suarez has been given an 8 match ban and fined £40,000 for racially abusing Patrice Evra. You would have to say that is a relatively fair ban considering the offence and its circumstances. It could have been alot worse, although of course there will be those that feel he did no wrong. At the very least we can all now be glad its been dealt with and get on with things.

i'm about a week late with this but before I read that "its has been stressed". I was thinking of gaitan. Considering injuries to cleverly and anderson and the lack of form of say park.. The addition could be good. Not marguee but useful attacking squad player like park can be. Its not the big signing on the face of it. It could be in disguise. it ties in with the fast interplay we were seeing before clev's injuries. isn't easy to see a players capabilities in, if we haven't seen more than wing but from what I know of him he is a converted am TO wing. He's been likened to riquelme won over the boca faithful which is notoriously difficult to do and won two championships with them. so He has experience playing for titles and has been key. His qualities are his dribbling good in tight spaces and does have good range of passing. I've seen a alonso type midpitch goal which was kinda impressive. So decent technique . i think a good addition to the style we are aiming for but not a marquee. I'd welcome him but at thirty mil?. Are we in for him? Who knows. ..constantine..

This whole Gaitan rumour doesn't make sense to me. First of all, I don't think he is worth 30m, and there are certainly better options available for that amount of money. Why go for Gaitan when Ganso, Goetze, Erikson or Ozil could be signed for 30m. All of them look better players than Gaitan. I'm not convinced by all this and I'm beginning to believe it's just silly paper talk.

Fuchs, Huntelaar, Hummels, Bender, Matip, Farfan (pace injection), Rues etc
All will come pretty cheap, and would be quality additions IMO.

I'm a big fan of Marchisio from Juve, and i think he'll come good soon.

I think every1 is guetting a bit too carried away with these gaitan romours. A 23 year old winger who may bot be built to resist and who has a couple of tricks up his sleeves is linked with us and everybody labels him as a future united great. Actually i saw it on manutd.com gaitan is a winfer although he is able to play behind the strikers .
As for shaqiri he is a natural attacking midfielder who cqn play as a winger ( man utd.com). He is 20 yo strongly built and offers a lot of potential could be a future world class . He also has a great engine and his left leg has the power of a tractor engine. I do beleive he might be signed at the end of this season if our samba boy doesnt come good.
I might object that we dont need any wingers now consodering the fact that we are not goana find any better than nani or valencia ( whos guetting his confidence back with 4 assists in 2 games ) . So if a winger/ attacking mid wont be brought {Ed002's Note - "Strongly built" meaning "tubby".}

Gaitan will not be a United player in January or after the summer. We have enough wingers, and he is simply not good enough in the hole behind the striker.

Cue the Syd brigade with replies of "You know nothing" "He is good enough". Get over it he shone a tiny bit in a few games in the CL group stages and that is it. He is an average player.

Hole behind the Striker is Rooneys position and his favoured position at that. Why bring someone else in with similar positioning when we all know Rooney gets the nod every game if fit. And its rare that he isnt fit.

Dont get excited over the papers bull crap, he will not be coming and i for one am glad. He will be a waste of money and will end up being sold on within 3/4 seasons for not even half of what we bought him for.

People are getting very confused about Gaitan's natural position. If you look up Gaitan on Wiki, then press the 'Attacking midfielder' link, it will show you his natural position. There is two position and his position is the left side. But like most players that play in this position, they can also operate on the LW, which is where Benfica choose to use him.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I still think you are getting rather carried away about Gaitan Syd. As I said the other day there had been no bid and I am sure that we will confirm again tomorrow that there has been no bid.}

You guys say we must go for Ozil if he is available. But what makes you think that City wont go after him if he is available for sale. And once they are in we dont stand a chance which is true whether you agree or not.
So I think we must be happy with whatever decisions SAF makes and if Gaitan comes in then he is welcome. I also think we should forget about Ozil ever joining us.

Talk about needing a left footed winger.... Robbie Brady deserves a chance he has been brilliant at Hull.

At the moment we have Nani, Valencia, Young and Park as wingers although Park maybe being playing on borrowed time, still think he's a very good squad player but hes not found his from this season yet.

Jones has looked a revelation in midfield and i think Fergie wil keep him there for rest of season unless we get another defensive injury.

For some reason, I just can't see Gaitan becoming a United player in the near future. I have a feeling that these Gaitan rumours could potentially be a smoke-screen (wouldn't be the first time SAF has used this tactic!).

My belief is that we won't sign anyone in January, and if we do, it'll be a fringe/young player.

Does SAF know that we're lacking creativity in Midfield?... Of course he does - hence why he's tried to play Rooney there on a few occasions. Obviously this wasn't the answer as we basically robbed Peter to pay Paul (i.e. with Rooney in Midfield, we then lacked the firepower and presence up front).

Based upon these very reasonable assumptions, I think SAF is possibly testing the water with a number of players. Using connections in the press and media to link United with a player, and then gauge a reaction. From the reactions (of both player and respective club) he'll obtain hopefully 3-4 good midlfield targets to concentrate on for the Summer, and try to sign one of them (whoever offers the best value..... and demands the lowest wages of course!).

There was so much talk about Neymar and Ganso last summer and they refused to go anywhere as they wanted to play against Barca in the Club World cup.
So now that is over so did anyone see the match and if yes then how was Ganso ? From what I've heard they were completely outplayed by Barca.
I think Neymar wants Barca to make a move for him as he has turned down the offer by RM for the time being and is constantly praising Barca and how it is his dream to play for Barca or maybe he actually wants to stay in Brazil for a few more years so he can be close to his family and kid.
Anyways, I think Ganso would be an excellent buy but havnt seen much of him this season.

Just read that Alan Pardew expects big bucks for Tiote. ESPN went on to say it would take a bid of around 35million like Carrol.
If he is worth 35 m, then United should forget about their other targets as they will cost more than 100m each

I'm not sure why the general consensus is to move Jnes back to CB? Yes he would be useful there, but based on his recent performances, i am happy for him to stay at CM. He adds another dimension we have not had in a while..surging beyond Rooney and his energy is fantastic. Alan Hansen suggested he isnt technical enough to play there? From what i have seen he has coped very well and his technique can only get better. Its been a while (perhaps even Keane) since we have had a presence like Jones in the middle. I agree we need more creativity there, however it is of no coincendece we have started to find our attacking form since Jones has been played in CM. All i'm saying is, i agree we need an Ozil/Sneijder/Eriksen type player but if we were to sign a world class striker and CB i would not be too dissapointed seeing Jones stay in CM and Rooney drop slightly deeper.

To all those saying Gaitan (if he is being targeted by united) is not a great player (on basis of watching a couple of games?).

How many have actually seen Gaitan play REGULARLY before saying he is not impressive?

Just bashing SAF and the scouting staff, why? How many wanted Torres the summer before he went to Chelsea and were questioning why we bought Hernandez?

Who would you rather have now?

How many had watched Vidic and maybe even Evra play before we bought him in January? Was it not "world class" defenders that we needed then and SAF goes and buys someone from eastern europe in Vidic? Pathetic wasn't it?

How many knew of Chris Smalling or had even wanted Phil Jones before we made the move?

Then we have the "get Ozil instead of Gaitan" brigade. We do not even know whether Ozil will be up for grabs. Even if he is made available a lot will depend on whether RM can get Goetze or whoever they plan to replace him with. So United should just wait and hope Ozil is made available while Gaitan, a long term target who is available, is getting inquired about by PSG and Barcelona? Its stupid logic imo, and do we even know if he will be the only signing? (IF he is signed i.e)

To even think that Ozil would definitely be made available is wishful thinking imo, add to that i understand he is a crowd favourite at the Bernabeu. I personally think there is a cery little chance he will leave.

Then we have those crying out saying "well Gaitan ain't the CM we need" or "he may as well be able to play there but he is not a specialist". Well how many of these have actually watched him play, know his skill set and do we even know for what position he is being targeted?

This is a diff type winger tat we need so i be happy see him come to us and he offers a left foot and decent set piece taker.

I have been away for a while to be greeted by the new man of the moment Gaitan. What did he do against us that stuck out to anyone? I can remember 1 cross when he cut back and curled a peach in and maybe 2 or 3 decent runs. Hardly setting the world alight? Unlike a raw 18 yr old portugeezer who ripped the England rb a new one.

I just don't get it? And for 29+m aswell haha. We have been looking like we are after a CAM more than CM if so why are we going for a winger who used to play CAM? I'm sure 30m could get ozil, ericksson sp?, goetze, dare I say him sneijder. Specialised CAM players not adapted wingers.

People saying he has a trick or two in his locker well so did ando and look what's happened to him?

And syd how come you are championing a move for him when spending 30m on sneijder was such a big nono for you. Irrelevant of wages as with saving all last years and no doubt this years we could easily offer rooney wages to a couple of super stars if we were willing to do so.

I'm totally with both Matthew and red man as its always a case now of money talks, tradition walks! Unfortunately.

Is it only me but i really don't understand why we would want Rodwell for 15mil plus?

I appreciate he is a very good player but surely with his injuries and the fact SAF must know we need some world class creativity seeing as our CL performances were woeful. If the stories are true regarding Nicolas Gaitan and Ozil surely we would want to sign one of them? And maybe try offloading Berba and bringing in a new CF?

I don't understand why people continue to suggest that in CM there is only an AM or a DM. This is stupid.

I'm am in love with the midfield partnership of Jones and Carrick, I don't think it needs changing. Jones is perhaps more defensively minded but he is not necessarily playing as a DM. Though having him in the middle of the park gives Carrick more freedom to make his play. This does not however mean that Carrick is an AM. Their roles in the middle of the park are more complicated than this and I am getting tired of these nonsense theories that every player we have is one or the other..

Just read this on SkySports.com, its pretty long because i copied and pasted it from the site:

The agent of highly-rated Benfica forward Nicolas Gaitan claims Manchester United have held informal talks regarding a possible transfer.

The Argentina international has emerged as a top target for the Red Devils as they continue with their search for added creativity.

United were strongly linked with Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder over the summer, but no official move was made.

It appears as though they have now set their sights on Gaitan, having seen first-hand this season just how devastating he can be.

The 23-year-old played a leading role for Benfica as they held United home and away in the UEFA Champions League.

Sir Alex Ferguson was understood to be impressed by what he saw and discussions are reported to have been held between the Red Devils and their Portuguese counterparts.

"I have not received any contact from United but there have been conversations between the two clubs," Gaitan's representative, Jose Irribaran, told Antena.

"If these talks progress, then we will get our time to speak.

"But Nico is very happy at Benfica and is looking forward to enjoying a successful season."

While Irribaran is prepared to shed some light on the transfer rumours, Benfica remain tight-lipped when it comes to Gaitan's future.

"The club do not respond to news published in the papers," a club spokesman told skysports.com.

im not buying in to this gaitan for cm , if we were to spend 30 mill for a cm i think we would buy a player who is proven at cm.
i think he will be bought as a winger and i dont think there is anything wrong with having 4 good wingers just like its good to have 4 cb or 4 strikers.
could this be a sign of a bit of investment not the spend just enough to keep some of the fans happy but the serious lets win the european cup investment .
