Cleverley is having a medical at Everton as we speak, apparently. On behalf of Man United, let me apologise to Ed025. As he is out of contract, we couldn't do anything about his destination pal, don't take it out on us and disappear like Ed002. Just Evans to go now eh :-)

On a serious note, I hope he has had a reality check, and that he improves and becomes the player we thought he could become.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - i cant see it brendan very poor player for me mate, but its ok as he is only costing us £15m...bargain of the season.. :(

Plus his wages have upset McCarthy who doesn't understand why a player who struggled to be Aston Villa's second best English midfielder is earning significantly more than him.

Peanuts that ed, It cost us that for 4 Falcao goals this season! :-)
I honestly think he'll do a decent job for you though, no matter how much sh*t he gets on here.

Ed001,
I enjoy reading your views on players/managers/football in general and washoping, whne youhave the time, if you could provide your opinion on our season, tactics, the manager, and who you think we should be targeting in the market this summer.

Thanks mate - hope you're settling well after your move.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I have done that, bit rushed as the sites are really hectic at this time of year, I will stick it on the others page as it is a bit lengthy!

Thanks, settling in ok, just trying to get used to living 23 stories up when I am terrified of heights! Vertigo and living right near the top of a tower are not a good mix. Though living next door to a bunch of cute, young, single women is a bonus, though not sure my missus agrees on that point.....}

05 Jun 2015 21:25:23
Vertigo is a terrible affliction, I think lfc suffer from it too. sorry ed couldn't resist😉 hope you settle in well.

A good read that ed and a pretty fair assessment IMO . Do you think thar a cm now appears to be a priority for this window due to Carrick's age and injury worries? As you say he plays his role to a very high level.
Also it is looking increasingly likely that ddg will leave do you think we could or indeed would like to sign cech ?
Finally I would like your opinion on who you think would. Be good long term solution at cb?

You know how I'm always going about younger talent, have we been interested in enzo crivelli or corentin tolisso? Both u21 French guys? Sod it, whack Laporte in there too? Scouting wise? Any interest?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

05 Jun 2015 12:19:48
I like a bit of young talent but not too young. We don't want to be on the wrong side of the law. Laporte would be a good buy. The other 2? Are they from Belgium? Or do they have Belgium ancestry?

What do we reckon then guys and girls, if you could pick any 2 from Schneiderlin, Vidal, Gundagon, Naingollan, Matuidi, Carvalho, Strootman and Schweinstieger who would if be? (I'm trying to use realistic targets, I'm not so sure Pogba or Pjanic or realistic.

{Ed004's Note - Schneiderlin/Schweinsteiger and Gundogan/Vidal}

I'd pick 3. Schweinsneijder, sshneidurling & shneidure. They are exactly what we need as I've seen them all mentioned on here at some point. Or vidal and schweinsteiger next to Herrera or carrick.

My concern With Schneiderlin is that none of the Southampton players that left last year did Great.is this a valid fear for him this year?

Brad most of them went to liverpool (enough said) and shaw had a few injury problems. Long term who knows what will happen with those that left last year but in my opinion shaw will do well and to a lesser degree i would imagine lallana will come good (but not world class i would have thought)

Hi Guys

I must admit I'm not Benzema's greatest fan but the more I think about the more I would like to see him in a United shirt next season.
I think he could be an important focal point for our attacking play.I think he would score goals and make many assists. So come on Woodwood go get him.

I would love Benzema to sign, but its strange how his agent was seen meeting Woodward on wednesday evening, but it only gets reported thursday evening. Why not straight away?

I seriously doubt Real Madrid would let go benzema unless they have already signed a replacement Aguero maybe. But he will be a great signing for us . A perfect number 9

{Ed004's Note - Or Ronaldo is being made a striker?}

05 Jun 2015 12:05:26
Agree with Ed i think Ronaldo is going to be the new number 9.

With the Benzema rumours doing the rounds and Lacazette being mentioned in a few stories who would you rather have and why?

I'm just favouring Benzema as he is pretty much the finished article right now. He would almost guarantee 20 goals a season and his link up play is sensational. I doubt Real would entertain letting him go but if they end up going for Aguero then we would have a chance.

Lacazette looks like a very good player and will get even better but we need someone who has played at the highest level for a number of years and performed very well at that level, basically a player who is deemed as "world class" in their position. I would rather spend the money on Benzema for that reason as I don't think Lacazette can be classed as that yet. No to say he won't be in a couple of years.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Jun 2015 11:01:42
The issue with Lacazette, which I also have with Kane is that they both only really hit the scene this season.

We need some consistency instead of buying someone who may not reach that form again.

And that's why i chose Benzema, he has proven for the past few years he is one of the better strikers around and has time on his side, could easily be our main man for the next 5 years.

Benzema has size, strength, intelligence, finishing and unselfishness. He would score his share of goals and set up the runners like DePay and Di Maria in on goal. It would also allow Rooney to play behind him, where he is more effective.

05 Jun 2015 11:50:29
Benzema has been one of Europe's best strikers for some time now. I'm a huge fan and would love to see it happen.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Jun 2015 14:50:30
Weggy he hasn't just hit the scene, he scored 22 goals in all competitions last season predominantly from the right wing. His coach moved him up top and he got even more. He's been tipped for big things for a number of years in France it's just taken the British press a while to catch up

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Jun 2015 15:30:16
Rewz did you see him in the last period of the season when Lyon really needed him to step up? He was abysmal and choked under pressure.

Rumours gathering pace regarding Benzema, would be an excellent signing. Hopefully will help Di Maria having a player he is used to playing with and knowing the types of runs he makes and also I wonder if Real would look to replace him with Falcao keeping chelski's grubby little hands off him! I still think Falcao would again struggle in the Premier League but don't want Jose having the chance to get him back to his old self!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

05 Jun 2015 10:01:54
Karim Benzema would hopefully bring that spark to our attack that we had with a younger Rooney and Tevez.

He is a fast skillful player who can easily make space for himself. I for one would welcome him with open arms.

And like you say, it could be the catalyst of a great partnership between him and Di Maria who know eachother's games.

05 Jun 2015 10:25:20
In an ideal world we sign Benzema, and Real Madrid replace him with Aguero. We get stronger and directly weaken a rival.

05 Jun 2015 11:03:16
Although Fresh surely we would Like to keep Aguero in the BPL? I am all for being the best team but surely it's more of an accomplishment if we beat city when they have some of the best players around. Makes it more challenging and more nicer when we win.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2015 12:05:52
Maybe they won't go after Aguero, I think it was red man who has cited the article about Ronaldo's knee. Perhaps they plan on Ronaldo at 9 and Bale in his more natural left wing position. Freeing up Benzema to leave as the Eds have said all along.

05 Jun 2015 12:27:42

Nathaniel

Yes I posted a Marca article several times about Ronaldo's left knee, particularly in that he can't make the bursting runs he used to and as we have seen he tends now to play in and around the penalty area.

I would also be guessing , however would effectively giving Ronaldo the new position of Real Madrids "goal hanger" keep him happy and think of something other than frustration with Bale. It does seem to push Benzema out if so.

I never understood why Madrid haven't pushed harder for Aguero, who for me is up there with the best.

On Benzema, I posted the other day about watching him play for Lyon and he was dangerous, never understood why SAF didn't go all out for him (or later for Aguero) , certainly an improvement on what we have and buying that quality of striker leaves Rooney in a tough spot. My concerns with Benzema is how he will cope with his back to goal and has he gone soft with playing where he has because the physicality of our league will challenge him.
Nomidfield, perhaps add Varane to Pogba, Schneiderlin and Benzema and we may be quite interesting next season!

Jeeees How many left sided players do we want!!!
I agree, decent player who I admit has played well every time I've seen him. But we need that bit extra IMO. But at least he is consistant, although Nani has been the stand out player in that league apparently.
