I'm a long time reader of the site, it's brilliant, keep up the good work ;)
I was just wondering if one of the eds could confirm the contract situations of both Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison.
I've head SAF has said that we have the option to increase the length of Pogba's contract for a further year, will this stop him being able to talk to clubs in January and on Morrison's agent's website it says he is contracted until 2014.

Would appreciate if you could confirm or deny this, many thanks

Well what about Rhodes aye? Worth a shout for the future?

Another thing for the banter... What if a team wanted to buy both xavi and iniesta or messi which transfer(s) would cost the most in all of your opinions.. Espescially like to hear from ed(s) sydney! RFT. All the reguar posters!. {Ed001's Note - age would make it Messi. If they were all of a similar age it would be Xavi and Iniesta.}

James McCarthey a must be. Sorry ED007 i wanna number 6 on the list.

Although he is a very good player and deserves a chance at big club

Mad Hatter {Ed007's Note - I've been saying it since the summer. A bit of energy and dig in midfield wouldn't go amiss I reckon and I have seen him play since he was 14/15. I think I actually bored people about him so I will keep quiet :-)

Herbie

A bit of name calling never hurt anyone what you wana do give me an 8 match ban? then we can spend two months wasting time talking about that rather then our team which is a real mess it pains me to say it but it really is when last did you see a team play so many players out of position in so many games?.

All season cm has been a problem we get jones and carick togeather finally in the middle and boom we start beating teams 5 nil finally carick has some form but what did we do? move him to cb that is nuts we finally get a cm playing half decent evan getting a goal and what do we do put him a cb do we not have one good youth team player we could have a punt on to play there for one game not one player in all our academy capable? same with jones finds some form in the middle and we move him to cb to for me he is a cm i keep saying it he makes to many mistakes at the back and you loose them runs in to the box he could get you 10 goals a season from cm.

Rooney well again was finding form and starting to score and what happend we dropped him and now people on hear(some) thinks hes not botherd and we should sell him some one on hear the other day said if we sold rooney we would take it all in cash and fergie would stick with what we have and we would see no return on the rooney money and i think that may well be the out come of selling so bad idea for me. but droping him? bad man managment from fergie for me yes he may have broke a club rule his not bigger then the club but when we take a striker scoring goals out of the team who really wins? city? for me city really won they slipped up and we should have and could be 3 points clear all we had to do was beat blackburn and newcastle now is that to much to ask really from Manchester United we should have won them. madrid?if they want to see him unsettled? people on hear crave superstar players i do to and we have one but maybe we should try to see the positves and get behind the one potentially world beating player we have left or the way things ar going may see for a while. When ronaldo left he took somthing with him and we have never recoverd from losing the worlds best goal scorer.

We all keep waiting for Fergie to do something and we are stuck never knowing if we have money and whats really going on the way things are going we are in a slow decline. For me the summer is make or break if we dont bring in at least two world class or potentially world class quality players then no amount of exscuses will convince me we have money and can still sign the best players in the world. Because to me with a couple of signings we would be pure class fergie must see that so whats going on. I think the summer will go one of two ways we sign big and sign some really class or again we can listen to idol gossip all summer and end up no better off then when we started while barca are setting up pre contracts with neymar just in case they may fancy him in a few years. they get who they want normally on the cheap in a cut price deal that no other bloody club would get whilst farming players like bojan out and tieing in very clever buy back clauses were the kinda seem to win both ways and what are we doing? seeing players like shawcross rossi Pique all do well and would walk in our team now if fit. We are falling behind not in results yet but in real world class players and why? none of us really know do we?

Maybe we are too predictable plating 4 4 2 or 4 5 1/ 4 3 3

maybe we need to end this emphasis on wingers and try a 4 3 1 2 or a 4 2 3 1 or 4 3 2 1 formation, shake it up a bit.

Ok so everyone knows that the one player that we NEED and WANT is sneijder. So why haven't we got him then? you would ask well turns that SAF pulled the plug on sneijder because he got to know that sneijders wife is similar to that of Victoria Beckham. She calls the shots tells he where to go that sort of thing. So SAF didn't want to have something similar to happen again like it did with david Beckham. {Ed007's Note - I doubt that he 'got to know that'. It is well known his Mrs has a TV career and is trying to further it.}

Well I think it's time to get realistic, this talk of getting Gotze or Modric or even Fat Frank are way wide of the mark.
As I said weeks ago we won't sign anyone, there is no one available, no value in the market, the same old nonsense we have heard before.
We will go out of the Cup on Sunday, City will win the double and we might just scrape 2nd place.
I know it all sounds doom and gloom but I think with a new keeper settling in, Vidic out for the season and still no real strength in the centre of midfield I think 2nd is all we can hope for.
I said before the season started our midfield would get overrun by average teams just look at the Newcastle game.
I do believe that Fergie will get it right again next season but we do need some drastic changes.
Last season we were the best of a bad bunch and City have overtaken us this year and Spurs are close as well.
Anyway rant over and I still think we are good up front, 5 class strikers just no one to provide them.
Please please please but Toni on the wing and not in defence.

Many think that since Reus will be going to Dortmund in summer so Gotze will be available. My point of view on the matter is that Dortmund are preparing a really strong team for years to come which will fight for Bundesliga and CL and hence wont be selling any of their players. They've got the best German talent in the country in Hummels, Gotze, Bender, Schmelzer, Reus etc who are all better than any of our present non injured mids or defenders and will be a force to reckon with in years to come.

Rumours coming out of Spain suggest a loan deal with option to buy for Kaka is looking the most likely.
Reason being that Kaka obviously doesnt feature in Mourinhos long term plans so doesnt want to make move permanent incase Mourinho isnt at Madrid next year, or indeed actually replaces Fergie at OT.

I have a feeling we will go for Samba as well. around the 8mil mark.

well least Fergie didnt lie about something hes right he cant get the players he wants&theres a reason why he cant,he aint got the money for it! forget all the laughable cover excuses of squad strong enough,no value in the market, january a bad month to buy no one will sell! now the joke link to lumpard god the only place hes great at is in hes own mind! seen at world cups just a lump waddling around lost against top class so why the hell would we want him the rent boy sub!
so if it aint the cash&the player must be better than what we got is another line they use, so example sneijder they now say is for sale at 25m(yes i know the wages thing) so we have 25m according to fergie now is he better than what we got well it is a close call aint it when you line up Carrick,Anderson, fletch,Park, the legend of an agein Giggs!
Dont turn to united fans in may if the league as gone to city&say injuries cost us it shant work! you say you got money, pay the money clubs will sell players will come!

How many United supporters agree with Fergies assessment and dig at Liverpool that the United /LFC game does not require some form of peace talks between both these two famous clubs, oh and why did LFC do it through the press ??

He is starting to get just a bit too large for his boots.

I truly hope his comments do not backfire on him.

To not attempt to build any bridges after the fiasco that has just happened is outstandingly arrogant of the United manager and as a decent human being I am very saddened.

lets hope the supporters from Liverpool do not take offence at his comments as the implications for trouble at this game has already got the police on high alert. Its likely to be a very explosive affair without these sort of comments.

Im sorry but Fergie is becoming a deluded and crazy old fool and its probably about time he was moved on to a new rest home......theres still places left in mine if hes interested, and the cocoa is really nice !

Controversial comment here, Lampard sounds like a reasonable bet to come in. Here's why:

1) SAF has said he is not interested - believe the opposite of what he says on transfers.

2) Short term solution until Gotze or someone like Ozil is available and gives the youth lads to mature.

3) Gives us goals in midfield which SAF has said that we don't get enough of.

4) Experience would help the younger lads alot - especially Morrison i feel.

You can agree or disagree but it is more plausible than you think. No way will we pay him over 100k. It simply won't happen.

Let me end on this: You say its outrageous and would never happen, but who would of said that we would sign Liverpool legend Michael Owen? An older quality player like Owen, Larsson etc is perfect for the midfield now until we can do more business in summer!

RedDevil19 {Ed002's Note - But it won't happen.}

What do you's think of signing chris samba, Jorge Alba and Moussa Sissoko?

Picture this as a team and remember the above x2 players are absolute beasts, so having that strength in the team would also be a bonus:_

GK: De Gea / Lindegaard
RB: Jones
LB: Alba
CB: Smalling
CB: Samba
RM: Nani
LM: Young
CM: Sissoko
CM: Cleverley
ST: Rooney
ST: Wellbeck

Next season when vidic will be back i'd have him play alongside smalling, and the team could be rotated all over the place if need be / depending on the opposition, plus you'd have the likes of morrison progressing also (reckon pogba will be moving on in the summer tho)

Reckon we could get all 3 of them players for under £40million and that would be us sorted for a few seasons

---------------lindegaard--------------------
rafael-----smalling----ferdinand----evra
valencia---carrick----jones----nani

imo is our best team atm with current injuries etc.

or future team could be.

----------------de gea-------------------
rafael--------smalling----jones-------fryers
nani------pogba----cleverly-----young
------------------morrison---------------
------------------rooney----------------

in 4 years i reckon this team could be brilliant if everything goes well. barring injuries. however i would like to see a cd coming in. hummels, sakho would be my choices. and a cm as well, martinez, ganso and mccarthy (could be a decent shout) maybe moses?

this window i wish we would bring in a cm and a cb however i cannot se that happeneing. In the summer however, sadly i can see rooney leaving. hoe it odesn't happen though

In my opinion SAF should do what he's good at. Take a punt on a youngster.

Ravel Morrison.

That boy has got some serious talent and could really add something different to our midfield.

Plus that'd help us get him tied into a contract.

we need players theres no doubt but it does not mean go spending 30mil on players.

i reckon we need 3 players a cb,defensive midfielder and a creative midfielder

cb

cahil-7mil
samba-8mil
j.vertongen-10mil
douglas-8mil
subotic-20mil
hummels-20mil

defensive midfielder/box to box

moussa sissokho-8mil
l.bigilia-6mil
tiote-20mil
rodwell-15mil
y'mvilla-20mil
j.martinez-25mil
de rossi-10mil

attacking/creative midfielder

r.montolivio-8mil (can play anchor role)
c.erickson-15mil
gotze-30mil
ganso-25mil
lucas moura-15mil
s.ninis-5mil
e.hazard-43mil
shaqiri-15mil

we need quality and depth tp stay with city. if i had to pick 3 players from this list they would be samba hes a beast and has experience him and vidic when hes back would be immense also samba is a threat at set plays. for the defensive midfield rold im gonna go for moussa sissokho this lad is really compact and has a lot of energy and quite cheap hes the kind of player we need in our squad. and for the creative midfield i would of gone with gotze or hazard but there way tooo expensive so im gonna go erickson guys do you remember when england played denmark last year this kid was the man of the match and played better than wilshere! he can play wide and thru the middle it would be a great signing if sir alex can pull this off. edd past this in banter plaese and also could you rate the possibilty of the players i have chosen who could come to the thearte of dreams

Youtube and all of yesterdays papers carried the story of Patrice Evra and his foulmouthed rant in 2004 from his hotel room and balcony. It was a documentry filmed by Canal+ and it does not make Mr Evra look quite so squeaky clean or innocent as he came across in his statement to the FA. He said he could not tell the referee exactly what Mr Suarez said, but said as it was not a word he liked to use ever......the clip shows that this clearly is not the case and this should be noted by the FA, with regard to any such incidents, should they arise in the future....Don't get me wrong, what Mr Suarez did was wrong.....and is being punished for his actions.....but Mr Evra has shown that he is not only a hypocrite, but also a liar......Remember this is the same man who almost brought the FFF to its knees by threatening to get all the french international players to go on strike.....He is also the current Captain of our club.....something at the moment I am not to happy about.......how would this look now, on our fan base from those whom his words offend....not to mention sponsorship deals, investment etc to have our Captain (irrespective of whom he was contracted to at the time) using such language to fellow professionals and human beings in the manner he did......Suarez was wrong for what he said........but Evra you are too and you have no defence whatsoever {Ed002's Note - This was discussed extensively yesterday on the Liverpool pages. I recommend that you go there and read the thread on the Banter otherwise we will no doubt simply be duplicating some of the same discussions if we carry on with it here.}

Fergie on sayin that there's no point bringing in 2nd rate players just for sake of it - there is if sum of ur existing squad are 3rd rate - doesn't bide well for remainder of season - could struggle for CL football next season with this stubborn blinkered approach - I think maybe SAF has developed 'Wenger' syndrome - on a slippery slope and if brakes aren't applied sharpish then the momentum will be irreversible - like Wenger maybe he'll only respond when his best player/s jump ship and he's forced into the Market for panic buy replacements

Herb it was late when I wrote. It aint posted yet and I aint sure I made a great deal of sense.(where's my aint's coming from? Shoulda said isn't in it) I'll put it this way

.. saf needs to get the team sorted out the focus will come back. Additions introductions with youth. Even with the injuries which would have seen us better we're lacking the x-factor to give the fear factor. Indiscipline smacks of lack of focus or disillusionment.

Not excusing rooney but anyone who thinks selling rooney is a good thing. Well good luck in replacing him. I think the indiscipline will be forgotten about and rooney's commitment which he has shown over the years will be evident again.
He's not as arrogant as people think. We're talking someone who has been growing up in public view making mistakes and despite that pressure he has played some exceptional football with his heart on his sleeve.

If we are frustrated and doubting management down would the players not be feeling the same? Yet we are crucifying them. This is a rot we are all in.

i'm not rose tinted glasses. You say see the bigger picture and I think I do. The team has been rocked by injuries and yet we should be able to cope, it killed the earlier style we were aiming for and pulling off. Made unsteady the back line killed the link between attack and defence. That means the better play was on fragile foundations but it can be reinforced. At least the formula is found. The key for my patience.

The team isn't sure what its doing. But this is the thing and I understand the frustrations i do. I feel the same. But I think all of this can turn sound in an instant.

this is a midfield problem an inability to progress with a style of play that improved us. The squad is good but is not clicking. Find the answer to that and any indiscipline or disillusionment will go with the players and the fans.. Just like that.

and I honestly believe that the main priority is someone that is so rare like a modric that is proving difficult to get.

But i THINK its massively foolish to think that alex isn't trying. You think if wants to go out like this? If we played fantastic with cleverly yet we were suspect at back we need peer for cleverly and sheild for backline. Then right back left back and cover for defense. But get the first target we will click. We will see better from squad players we thought past it. Anyway I think i'm going on too much. We are in a crisis but it can change in an instant. ..constantine.. And p.s how many of us went out with friends for a drink and a meal? Yes he was wrong but xmas holideays is sacred for families and friends. Its criminal what the players sacrifice at this time of year. We should be cable to give football a rest.

Hi guys,

Few things -

I dont think Sneijder will be joing us ( and to be honest you have to think SAF did well not buying considering the season he has had this year plus when at Rm didn't make much impression) Looks like city may land him with tezev swap...

I saw these Lampard rumours this morning surely that would be a great signing? Proven CM, scores goals and know what it takes in PL.

And lastly I heard the other day Utd have been warned of Mario Goetze.... Does this mean we have been making enquires?

Just a few of my thoughts. Does anyone else or Edd know anything different?

Listening to TalkSport this morning at 6.30am, Alan Brazil and Chicken were talking to the TalkSport Dutch Football Correspondent named Marcel about Steve Maclaren returing to FC Twente and about Nigel De Jong. Anyway, at the end of the interview, Brazil asked if there was a chance Sneijder would come to England this month? Apparently Sneijder will not come out and say anything as he does not want to upset Inter fans but it is well known that in the Sneijder household, Wesley (I feel I can call him Wesley now as we have been talking about him for over a year and I feel comfortable enough to be on a first name basis with him!) is after a big contract move to United and is willing to take a paycut, HOWEVER, he is not prepared to take a 50% paycut, which I can kind of understand as it would cheese me off but I am not of £200,000+ a week!
So my question to everyone is this, was SAF stupid not to make the move happen and give Sneijder what he wanted or was the great man right not to bow down to player demands?
I have said many times before that SAF will do what is best for the club and by not given in to Sneijders wage demands he is protecting the wage structure of the club. If we had offered him the wages he wanted then that would set a president for any players comining in to the club and long term this would not be good for us because, and we all say it, players have to much power in the game now and it is ruining football (Joleon Lescott earning close to or more than £100,000 a week? Do me a favour!)
Anyway, feel free to discuss this? It seems that something could happen with Sneijder if offers are made and wages agreed as it would seem he wants the move to happen. (I would be lying if I said I wouldn't be excited by him coming but I hope it doesn't result in us breaking the bank) And before people start saying Rooney is on this and that, he's been at the club a while, proven EPL player and is still a young man and wages are more than likely made up through sponsorship etc.

“By Fergie’s own admission, ‘the game has changed’. Trouble is he hasn’t.
“He looks tired now and bored and treats the squad as a experiment for himself to gamble on. He deserves all the plaudits for what he has done [in the past now] but his time is up.
“If the Glazers really care about the club they should dispense with these dinosaurs in a dignified way and we shall begin a new era.
“I strongly doubt Mourinho or anyone would wish to retain the services of our coaching staff but I fear Fergie’s influence will still cast a shadow over the club long after he has gone. We are heading the Liverpool way I am afraid.”

couldn't of put it better myself, this guy hits the nail right on the head.a bit harsh with the dinosaur bit though.

SAF has done wonders for the club but it's time he moved on after this season.

nobody is bigger than manchester united, not even sir alex.
yes we have had problems in the past and came through but who's to say that we will overcome this? i bet liverpool fans said the same 22 years ago.. we need to learn from liverpools mistake and not get delusional and think everything is fine, because it hasn't been for a few seasons now.

(PS, don't think i dislike SAF because i don't, i love the guy but nobody lasts forever, just like players managers to have their day.)

Out of all the players who moved clubs in the summer who would you have most liked to have seen in a red shirt along side Sir Alex at a press conferance?

For me the player i feel we most missed out on was

Arturo Vidal, he has it all. Is dominant with great vision and a ferocious tackle yet has a very good passing range. He got 13 goals and 12 assists as a DM for Leverkusen last season and i feel if we'd have got him then him along side Cleverley would give us a amazing centre midfield. But alas he went to Juve for a mere 14m. C'est le vie.

So who did you want?

Constantine........... Refering to the Rooney comment on the rumour page, the way I see it is when Rooney messes up for whatever reason it effects his game which then haves a knock on effect to the whole team. Rooney broke club rules, went out for a meal and a few drinks then could'nt train because of it. The fact that he was dropped for that game meant we lost when if he was on the pitch the chances are we would of won, gone top of the league and went to the Toon game buz zing with confidence and possibly won that game too. So yes, Rooney does have to knuckle down for the good of our beloved UTD. Things could have been so different if he stayed at home that day, he is'nt bigger than the club. Rooney is one of my favourite players but he needs to stop been temperamental and start being more professional. I value your opinion Constantine but you have to look at the bigger picture....
