I think this has probably been said before, but if you look at the summer, a 'complete' summer in SAF's eyes i think would have been:

Ashley Young
David De Gea
Phil Jones
Raphael Varane
Samir Nasri

This lot would of cost us around £80 million - that just shows that we have money to spend i think. That also implies that we will have money to spend in the summer. I think we are waiting for an Attacking Midfielder and a Center Back.

We will have around £50,000,000 to spend in the summer. The men to go for are Eden Hazard and Mehdi Benatia.

We are crying out for someone like Hazard's quality in that firstly, we need a good left footed player and an attacking/creative/goalscoring midfielder. Hazard is all of those. He will be available in the summer, even Lille have said that. His agent was also quoted as saying he see's Manchester United as a good challenge for him.

Secondly, Benatia is also a type of player that Manchester United need. He would be loyal to the club, he wants to play for us and had van Persie in his back pocket when he played against Arsenal.

For me, that would be a great summer.

One good thing happened for our chances of winning the tittle. Arsenal played really inspired yesterday and I think they will at least draw at home vs City, who knows maybe they will actually win and I for one would not be surprised it that happens. Also, hopefully Chelsea can get a result although that game is away to City. I think we have the easier fixtures on paper, though we all know titles are won on the field. This Pogba mess is really bringing me down.

I'd be disappointed if Pogba left but like many have said on here, if he wants to leave then let him leave! If it's for game time, again people have stated the Juventus Midfield so good luck to the lad becoming a regular there! Morrison's move to West Ham is working out for him!

Someone else said they are worried about our midfield and saying we are week there and we've lost another CM and although the days of Keane and Scholes partnership is gone, how well did Cleverley and Anderson compliment each other at the start of the season? Both still young as well. Now people will say Anderson is not up to it but sometimes players just click with someone and they are great, Lampard and Gerrard prove that two great players don't always compliment each other!

Then I look at the other kids who are going about their business quietly and working hard who are only a year or two behind Pogba or who have come through with him, Tunncliffe, Pettruci, Norwood to name a few, I actually think our midfield is looking strong for the future and maybe with the addition of Martinez, well, Pogba could well be kicking himself in a years time!

If Pogba is set to leave i think that we are likely to see one of Kovacic or Barkley this summer. I'd say that Barkley is probably the more likely.

I think Gaitan will come in, some people think that he is rubbish or that it is a smokescreen for someone else, but i really believe the newspaper hype surrounding him for a change. I don't think it would be bad business at all on our part.

If we were good for cash then i'd like to see a combatative midfielder come in on top of Barkley/Kovacic and Gaitan. But i honestly don't think we will have sufficient cash to go in for someone like Martinez in the summer if we move for other targets also. He will more than likely end up at Barcelona as a replacement for someone like Keita who will be leaving soon i imagine.

The only other player i see us going for is either Cesar Azpillicueta or Mehdi Benatia. Both would be good signing with Azpillicueta perhaps being the more useful in being to play in both full back positions. My preference though is Benatia, he is impressive every time i see him, he even kept Van Persie under control when Udinese played Arsenal.

I'd also like to see a top striker come in, but i think that is a major luxury. If anything we will see a youngster, maybe someone like Pozuelo but even if we didn't we'd be doing okay if we had the main 4 strikers with King, Keane and Lingard getting games where they can.

So overall i'm going for:

- Mateo Kovacic £10,000,000 (Barkley the following year to replace Carrick).

- Nico Gaitan £25,000,000 max.

- Mehdi Benatia or Cesar Azpillicueta £9,000,000

If there was spare cash then i'd also recruit:

Yann M'Villa £20,000,000 (i think he is quality and would excel here - probably end up at Arsenal though).

Team of:

_________De Gea
Rafa__Small____Vidic__Evra
______Clevs___Anderson
Valencia___Gaitan___Nani
__________Rooney

higuain ageant and dad
"It's a bit early now, but my son and I will be ready to open talks with Juventus in May," the 24-year-old's father said to Tuttosport.

"The Bianconeri are one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, and any player would love to play for them."

ignore the juventus angle but it looks like higuain could be available in the summer , prob wishful thinking but would be a great signing

I also meant to say that i think we will move for a defender in the summer, take your pick of who you think it will be.

It could be Benatia but i think Azpillicueta is a major target as he is a versatile full back.

I'm hoping to see by the end of the summer window:

_______ De Gea

Rafa __ Vidic __ Small _ Evra

_____ Clevs __ Martinez

Toni ____ Gaitan ____ Nani

________ Rooney _______

That would be the dream i think.

In relation to Shappy's mamoth post earlier, here is my response which i hope you comment on Shappy!

I agree with the majority of things that you said, its definatly the case that only two or three players are really what we need. I also agree with your formation and the way that we need to play.

I have said for a while that i'd like to see Rooney stick up top more and be a world class striker like he was when he banged in 30+ goals for us a couple of years back. Some may worry that Hernandez and Welbeck wouldn't get enough games, but i think they would, especially since Welbeck can play wide left.

My biggest problem with your post is that you wanted both Kagawa and Gaitan in, with Nani leaving. Now, for me, Nani may be frustrating but he is always in the top 5 in the League for assits and tends to pop up when we need a game winner. He is also Manchester United through and through, SAF recognises this, this is the type of loyal player that we need.

In terms of a left footed player, then i'd go for Gaitan, i think he is every bit as versatile as Kagawa and has a more cultured lef foot. He also has a good injury recored and has said he is flattered at our alleged interest. He gives us 3 real main options:

1) Play him beind Rooney along Rooney to stay up top.

2) Play wide left and keep the ball for us with Valencia on the right.

3) Play in central midfield alongside someone who sits.

All three of these would be of good value to us. He'd certainly get his share of games and would prove to be a quality signing.

You must bear in mind that the likes of Young and Nani are of use to us as generally we have more possession than the opposicion anyway and they do both posses a goal threat. They do have their uses, maybe one day they will both bottle their good form and it will stick for a bit.

I can now see the Martinez rumours intensifying, especially since Pogba is soon to be out the door and he has opened the door to a EPL move. I'm not saying we will get him, its most likely a pipe dream. But he is my number one choice. If not him, then Granit Xhaka would be a very good option for the reasons you stated.

The question is though, would it not be sensible to try to do a double deal with Benfica for Garcia and Gaitan as i think those two epitomise most what we need.

So what will be the team line-up tomorrow then lads? I got the last one right. I will go for this line-up for Bilbao:

__________DDG
Small__Evans__Ferdy__Evra
_____Carrick__Scholes
L.Nani____Rooney____Young
________Hernandez

I think Cleverley, Welbeck, Jones, Giggs and Anderson will be on the bench and may play against WBA on Sunday. Valencia will be back for the return leg against Bilbao, but could he be on the bench on Sunday?

14:22 Sir Alex on the situation with Paul Pogba: "I can't tell you anything about that. I don't know."

That's from today, suggesting it may not be as complete as people seem to think. All these stories from the last couple of days have originated from one source (thenational) with no official quotes so who knows. If he was 'furious' surely he'd know what's happening with Pogba?

I don't think SAFs tactics to get players to sign new contracts work in this day and age. If I was Pogba and was being forced to train on my own with no football, the last thing I would do is sign a contract with the club! Why doesn't SAF show him what he would be missing out on by playing him in some games, surely that would be the way to go about things. If your boss isolated you from your colleagues and I job you love until you agreed a new salary, would you want to stay?

I love how I AM KLOOT never denies he is RFT

Onto Pogba, This is a whole new way to view the situation and I could be very wrong and I don't even believe what I am saying tbf, its just another way to view it, but when we "snatched" him from his other club (their name escapes me) hadn't he already verbally agreed to stay there?

Yes maybe his agent is a money grabber, but maybe pogba is just as sly as the agent?

Having said this it would make my year to see him start in the europa, having signed a contract, one can dream.

I always find it predictable when people respond to players that leave the club. Where once they were great players, fantastic prospects and the future of the club. The become washed up, overrated and the classic "not united class." But the one that sticks out is that players are greedy if they chose to leave United but not if they chose to join us for similar reasons. Pogba is the case in point. A player that we were accused of unsettling and tapping up with incentives decides to leave the club, and suddenly he's the scum of the earth, an person and a pawn in his greedy agent's game.

But United are above things like that, they don't try to unsettle players and tempt them by offering them and their agents more money. United are an honest, decent club, a moral beacon to us all. This of course is the same United that have become one of the most profitable clubs in the world, who have systematically and rapidly increased the costs of supporting the club in terms of ticket prices, merchandise etc.

So we have the two faces of United. The strong moral United who don't give into greedy bullies, and the United who are undoubtedly greedy corporate bullies in their own right.

This isn't about Pogba or his agent. It isn't an isolated case. It's about a club that claims they can't buy world class players because they're too expensive. And that they can't keep their most promising youth players because they're too greedy. The main argument is that you can't pay people like Pogba more because everyone will want more money. The reality is that refusing to pay Pogba more doesn't solve this problem. It simply shows young players that they can still get higher wages elsewhere. As one of the three most profitable clubs in the world, we should be able to offer competitive wages. We can't for one reason. Our owners saddled us with debt and will not sell until they've cleared that debt. The realisation here is that the owners want to do things on the cheap so they can buy the club with the clubs own profits. There's no moral high ground here, just an acknowledgement that one of the most profitable clubs in the world cannot compete with less profitable clubs because of their owner's greed.

I had to delete my last post as the expletives were running off the page. that dirty b**tard of a agent. if they could they would hold the club at ransom just to stop them pushing any moves. how this is legal is beyond me. pogba doesnt know how good he had it.

tunners and him and morrisson would have been an inspired midfield and im pissed. anticlimax beyond belief. Is alex to blame is the club to blame NO very convienient for I am a Hoot. change the name but the skin still crawls. your getting predictable on any failure it has to be the glazers agenda to destroy our club.

this is just grass greener turned heads and the agents whispers. Alex had a more than decent vision and Isnt to be blamed. Im feeling for him.

but I hope the club are in tune with the disappointment and act this summer. we need an inspired summer for the fans

cheque book needs dusting off

f*** pogba and f*** his agent and cant wait to meet his juventus and play them into the ground.

do I think we are falling from the elite? no we still have youth who have earned what pogba wasnt cut out for and to make him the symbol of future hope lost is a kick in the teeth to them. but still its a kick in the teeth what pogba has done and I hope it doent loom a shadow. I still believe in this club but i can't hide my disappointment. that was top potential.

On a side note..

I feel SAF was originally planning on bringing him throught he ranks like the class of 96'

which i feel is a massive massive mark of respect.

I don't doubt being loaned out improves a players chances but if a player has the ability to make his way into the first team from the youth without a loan then he is of emense quality and has more than proved himself to be worthy of the first team.

A player should look at this an an achievement not every player can have.

Welbeck as good as he is would never have made it through the ranks due to the strikers we had during his time in the youth

Pogba need only have waited a year! 1 year.. If it was game time he demanded and didn't want to wait a year for our first team then ask the boss for a 6 month loan out to prove himself worthy whilst getting more game time. If not then get back to training and keep your head down and earn your place.

If a player is not willing to do this then don't let the door hit you on the way out.

This is Manchester United not City or Chelsea where the players run rule this is a club with a clear Hierarchy which will not be changed for no player!

** dont spout rooney at me either - he wanted assurances and SAF gave them to him as he was disheartened - He took his place back in the team and got the fans respect back the Manchester Untied way by earning the Respect and knowing his place ***

Monk

P.s We act like we are better than others, This is because we still have our traditions and will not alter that. Owners - Manager - Players That is how the heirarchy is and should be.

Come on everybody...

Take a deep breath.... Hold for ten seconds.....

Breathe out slowly..

Now don't we all feel a little less angsty! : - )

Pogba leaving is no doubt a blow but such if life.

We have high expectations from our youth players and patience is the key.

Pique left because he wasn't getting playing time (due to us having an unbreakable defensive partnership at the time) and now Pogba is to leave due to lack of playing time as we are currently fighting to keep thetitle of being the best team in manchester so cannot and will not take risks on the youth as such a "squeaky bum" time of the year.

Had we not gone out to palace then he may have had a few more first team games but such is life we got knocked out.

Players come and go but those that will fight for the team and their place in it only make us stronger.

How many times have we won the league due to sheer grit and determination in the most difficult of times? Experience and the patience taught from biding your time and just keep going. Your time will come but only if you keep going and not give up for an easy ride.

If Pogba had signed back with us he will have no doubtedly been loaned out for the experience and then givien his chance in the squad.

Fergie rewards those who prove themselves not those who demand and expect to play just because their agent and the media tout them as the next big thing (being touted as and actually being are 2 different things)

I cant believe what i am reading on here? People kicking off becuase we are offering Nani an improved contract and have let Pogba go...? Heres a good idea. We will let Nani's contract run down and offer Pogba big bucks to stay......
Nani has proven himself and constantly sits at the top of the stats chart for assists, goals from midfield etc etc. On his day he's unplayable and a real asset to have. Pogba on the other hand has done sweet f**k all at the highest levels but you all want to let Nani go and Pogba to stay. What if Nani leaves for a 1/4 of his worth and we give Pogba first team assurances and a massive contract and he turns out to be nothing more than a squad player?
Nobody on here 'knows' he's going to be the next best thing do they? How about you all trust in a manager who has brought us unprecedented riches as fans of this great club. Big contracts are earned at the highest levels, not given to unproven potentials.

Pogba's agent is reported to be receiving 1.7m for his role in his proposed transfer to Juve. This is probably the most influential reason why he will move, rather than playing time or his salary.
It is not in his agent's financial interests for him to stay.

If i could hope for anything next season it would be this:

Ins:

CB: Benatia - I think he's injured now but still cracking season in the league and if he comes back before the end of the season with no signs of decline from it. He's my man

CM: Granit Xhaka - He's would add that energy and youthful exuberance to our central midfield that we are lacking without cleverly. Anderson has it but he just can't stay out the physios room.

LW/Left of a front 3: Iker Munian - Good friends of De Geas, good talent. I heard he has a few attitude problems which we would have to be wary about. I think an alternative could be Alan Pulido? similar sort of vein. I did mention Felipe Guitierrez but as the ed stated he may struggle to get a work permit.

ST: He's gotta be young as he'll be benching it for a while, I think we might take up the option of Henriquez if he keeps scoring the way he is doing at the moment! I think we will see and influx of Spanish speaking players to our ranks. Fergie as always been astute to adapting to the modern game and the Spainish game is what all teams are modelling themselves on at the moment.

How do all of you see it? do you think we will adapt our formation and style depending on our signings? Do you think we will buy people that fit our exsitig model?

I for one can't wait for pre season next year (ahead of myself I know). Petrucci, Brady, Tunnicliffe, Keane, Lingard, Cole, should all play a part one way or another. Probably not all of them but I would love it if they were. I expect a lot of these to go out on loan though unless they really set the world alight!

Looks like we have lost our best young player and for what seems like legitimate footballing reasons at this time, playing the likes of gibson, park and at times a rafael who had previously been out for some time ahead of him in midfield you can maybe understand it,i for one believe he will get playing time at juve weather thats sub time or whatever and he will become a massive player,we really have lost out.

So, now can we all acknowledge the LIES being spouted by SAF, David Gill and the Glazers? No value in the market, no players good enough, too expensive....BULL! We're going to rely on developing youth players? Well, the only two realistically going to make the first team have both left in the span of a month. Kind of makes that building through youth lie seem even more absurd!

I notice Red Man is at it again making his usual statements about players basing them on his personal dislike for the way they play, it was Berba before and this time its Nani the target. What has he done to deserve a new contract? The huge amounts of assists he has got in the last couple of years and the number of important goals he has scored would be a good place to start with! He is one of the best wingers in the league, inconsistent , yes, but certainly way more dynamic and consistent than Gareth freaking Bale.

"being hailed as good as Ronaldo" Nobody has done that!

"frankly been poor in most games" Yet manages to pop up with crucial assists even when he isn't playing well!

So we are ready to give Nani an improved contract, which proves one thing, the money is there and SAF decides how to use it! The Pogba situation is getting blown way out of proportions. He has been offered the best contract any academy player turning into first team player has ever been offered at Manchester United, if that isn't enough for him, and he is signing a "supposed" lesser contract at Juventus, you might want to take a look at the payments being made to his agent and his signing on fee and bonus.

IF its about gametime "Why play Scholes and not Pogba?" Simple, we want to win the title, and scholes has more than justified him being preferred over Pogba by SAF. We are just two points behind city and its experience rather than untested youth that should be trusted, and has delivered.

Pogba has been agitating long before Scholes' return, you might want to notice that. He would be playing if he was committed to the club.

"Our youth policy is now a mess" ? Really?
Cleverley, Wellbeck, Evans, the twins are laughing hard at that statement. Letting a problem child go to a championship team for not being able to sort his attitude out and focus on training, and a youth player agitating in the midst of one of the most closely fought title races where there is no room for experiments, doesn't mean the youth system is a mess. The youth policy is way better than what it was in the last decade.

De Gea says that being dropped probably helped him refocus and work harder. Another example of SAF's man management skills IMO, he certainly knows better than anybody else when to play and when to drop someone.

Not United related but I was hugely impressed by Chamberlian today. Unfortunately, looks like Arsenal have a star in the making. He has got significant playing time, I just don't understand why Pogba never got any substantial playing time, opportunities were there. I think all United fans are going to be sick if Pogba turns out to be as good as I think he will be. I remember how sick I felt when Ronaldino slipped through and ended up at Barca. I can't be the only United fan who is thinking how did this come to be with Pogba really never playing for us after all the hype when he came to us. He was supposed to be the answer to our biggest problem. Sorry for the rant. Love the site and the different opinions.
