Nice to see one of Suarez is fellow countrymen is a massive c*ck too. Alvaro Pereira stated Evra needs to watch his back when France play Uruguay in their upcoming friendly. Maybe Dogleash will be signing him up to the scouse clan in the near future.

Arsenal , Liverpool etc also have sold huge players and also haven't brought in any big names ,alonso, ronaldo, keane, viera lunburg, pires, many more sum quality midfielders so we r not alone ! Fergie bought vidic/evra in jan not sure if he will now but let's not forget we still got 2 players on europes first 11 , congrats to vidic and Rooney ! Danny we beck has surprised me I must say and Tom clevery excites the game so now with scholes help ! We will see Morrison , pogba etc get a chance ! We are conceding to many goals ! Degea 26 already , now lindegard 5 in 2 games ! Henry just got winner and lifted the young lads , passion never dies and scholes will be short time solution .... None ot teams are spending like city as 400m doesn't buy you league titles ! Yes we have noisy neighbours but every now and then drop by and remind them while they are just passing through, you've been here all the time !
Form is temporary ! Class is permanent !!

ramos vidic pique danialves

xavi inniesta alonso

ronaldo rooney messi

two former united players and two current united players..

for me alonso should of been replaced with ozil/sweinstiger and casillas for neurer/valdez.

can't really argue with the rest, ramos and alves are debatable though..

Since I am starting 'any truth in the rumour' you probably think this is on the wrong page...BUT is
there any truth in the rumour that United are no longer allowing any player to retire until they are 45 years old.
It doesn't make sense spending on transfers when you have players who can still stand up.
I understand that there is also a suggestion that the Glazers and their lackey - Alex (just for you Ed007)
are considering bringing Bruce,Keane,Ince et al back
as 'cover'

Puzzled {Ed007's Note - Don't try to be a smart ar5e. It really doesn't suit you. Remember you had to turn the clock back twenty years to find a manager and Keane is probably fitter today than Gerrard is!}

Ronaldo won the Balon d'Or when he was here, something he hasn't done in Madrid. Scoring many goals in our league is more impressive - personal trophies as well as more likely team trophies is another reason why he could return.

Scholes is a legend, but as much as i idolise him i dont think we should have brought him out of retirement. Whats more i think scholes should have stuck by his decision on principle. Now chances of us signing a world class midfielder either now or in june have taken a nose dive as scholesy will probably recieve a 1 year contract extension. Why dont we also bring gary and edwin back too?
But seriously, a club of united stature( boosting of being the most valuable sports franchise in the world) should be able to acquire a top midfielder when one is desperately needed, unless something is seriously wrong behind the scenes.
Can someone tell me was figo or ronaldo available to madrid? Was fabregas available for barca and was berba available when sir alex went knocking and refused take no for an answer?
What happened to the SAF who did WHATEVER it took to get his targets?
Now if sir alex is telling us the truth and not simply protecting the club and owners reputations, then i think he is looking at a midfielder who;
- is a really really top class player
- is available
- is willing to pick united over other top clubs
- is the right age
- does not have significant wage demands
- his club is not demanding extortionist transfer fees.
- sir alex likes
Can you guys come up with a player who would perfectly fit that profile?
We have a better chance of finding bigfoot or the flying dutchman's treasure than finding a midfielder who ticks all the above boxes.
We will eventually have to compromise in one or more of the above areas. If thats the case we might as well do it now. IMO, we should suck it up and do whatever it takes to get the player we want.
What do you guys think? Should we wait for the elusive player who may or may not exist or pay what we have to(in transfer fees or wages), get our world class player and move on? I personally dont like excuses, i like to get things done by any means necessary!

In ligt of Citeh's appeal against the red card, would just like everybody to remember back a couple of weeks to Nenad Milijas' tackle on Arteta in which he won the ball, was along the floor and 1 footed and that wasn't rescinded, i'm sure if Kompanys' gets rescinded then Mick McCarthy will have a lot to say.

Right just a few thoughts. I think its all time that we started to trust sir alex in that he knows what he is doing regarding transfers as he has earned that much at least. Years ago when he sold ince hughes kanchelskis everyone was up in arms and look how that turned out.

Scholes coming back was not what we were all hoping for but he gives us options that we didn't have and for free and with cleverly on the way back surely this will gives the options we need to make a serious push for the league and cup and then try and get the players we actually want in the summer rather than just buying now for the sake of a few months.

Pogba and Morrison will get there chance when there ready and its not surprising that they have not been put in the team whilst its going through a bad patch with the amount of things that are written about they would be under massive amounts of pressure and unfair at that to sort out all the problems that we have in the middle of the park at the moment.

Looking to the summer we need a left back, a good holding centre midfielder my prefernce would be for Fellani I know some people dont agree but he is and will soon be a world class player in a world class team once he leaves Everton or Javi Martinez an creative midfielder and there are loads to choose from there and a young hungry centre forward to join rooney hernandez and wellbeck.

I hope and belive this is what will happen and in the meantime sir alex and the team will have my support 100%!

keep the faith.

Right, this may sound far fetched but give it legs, and ed please post this in banter.

Numerous websites are saying Ronaldo is fed-up, being jeered by the fans when he is on the ball and with the new tax laws his wages will be hit badly. Is his love affair at Madrid ending? Its hard to say, but if you look at other factors then you could argue yes.

Two months ago to Georgie Thompson on Sky Sports he said he would NEVER rule out a move and started saying all the 'only god knows's stuff again - remind you of anything? Add to that, when Mourinho through a barbecue Ronaldo was very much isolated, he doesnt get on with the majority of the Madrid players - with only Marcelo and Di Maria being his main friends. At United he got on great with Anderson, Rooney, Nani, Evra, Rafael, Fabio and he calls SAF his second father.

He has said in the past that he misses everyone at Old Trafford, there have been rifts in the Madrid dressing room and he and Mourinho seemingly don't get on.

Could we afford him? Yes arguably at the end of the season. Berbatov - 90k/pw, Owen 30k/pw just to name two players who will probably be leaving would save us over 100k/pw in wages. Add to that possible departures for the likes of Park, Evra, maybe Giggs etc we have a massive saving on wages - more than enough to pay his 250,000 p/w.
The transfer fee i don't think would be an issue either, a player of his calibre can force his way out.

Would we want him back? Yes, and so would SAF - as Lippi said SAF would have him back tomorow.

Lets see what happens.

Great result yesterday and a great 1st half performance. If only we could have kept our heads for the first 20 mins of the 2nd half then the game would've been dead and buried!
However the biggest talking point for me isnt the penalties or the red card but the size of City's reserve goalkeepers face! Its as big as a small planet!
Now for the scousers ... lets go there and do ourselves justice just like yesterday!

Former Manchester United manager Tommy Docherty agrees with Roberto Mancini that Vincent Kompany did not deserve to be sent off but does not lay any blame at Wayne Rooney's door. Doherty told BBC Radio 5 live Breakfast: "It was a diabolical sending off and that was the turning point of the game. The person to blame is the referee. I know it was a two-footed challenge but it wasn't violent or malicious. It was a yellow card at the worst."

Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt says Manchester City's Vincent Kompany did not deserve a red card in Sunday's FA Cup clash against Manchester United. Kompany was sent off by referee Chris Foy for a two-footed tackle on Nani. "When I first saw it, I thought it was a great tackle," former United midfielder Butt told BBC Radio 5 live. "I think it's the law that's wrong, not the referee. He [Kompany] clearly got the ball and didn't try to hurt the lad."

Dont u guys think the reason of the dismal 2nd goal of man city due to scholes can be blamed to the heavily soaked pitch..i know footballers are supposed to adapt quickly..but he was lacking the required gametime..also we saw a lot of passesnot reaching its target..either slowed down or dint reach(e.g carrick's back pass to lindegaard)
it is actually a big reason..

but certainly had a part to play in city's 2nd goal..and lindegaard not being able to catch balls at his body

Excuses coming out already, hey perhaps you will cut our allocation again? Pathetic club.

Sydney!
-----------------Twelve Premier League clubs refused to give United their full allocation last season and the champions are concerned it is becoming a trend that is costing innocent supporters the chance to follow the club while also putting the team at a disadvantage.

One of the key issues is the persistent blocking of aisles and gangways by supporters standing during matches, making a potential obstruction for
emergency services, but the club admit they have received other complaints.
United officials raised the issue at the
last meeting of the club's official fans'
forum, explaining that "one of the
reasons provided by clubs for giving a
reduced allocation was safety, but the
main reason was supporters'
behaviour".-------------

So there you have it Sydney. Maybe if you could behave 12 Pl clubs would not feel the need to cut the ticket allocation. Really, the only thing pathetic was your original post. ( taken from a man utd forum)

Bottom line, the win yesterday was very good, were through and city are not.No matter how much they and the media sugar coat it, with the ten men lark and how they responded. This is a team that has spent 350 million on a squad that, hasn't got a decent defender, vincent Kompany is a myth and you will slowly see him crack from now to the end of the season.
I do think United need that enforcer in midfield, they wouldn't allow city to get back in the game, but when you finish a game with a midfield of a 38 year old giggs, 37 year old scholes, extra slow carrick and anderson, but they knew we had the lead and it was keep ball till the end.
Red card was touch and go, i would expect a united player to be sent off for a two footed challenge. If nani hadn't got out of the way, he could be on a hospital bed right now. we should have had a penalty to make it 4-1 would of killed the game off, provided we scored.
Finally i don't know why scholes has come out of retirement, hes a legend in my eyes, but i don't want to see himlowly ruin his good name. fergy should of let sleeping dogs lie and kindly said no to scholes and giggsy. How do the likes of pogba and morrison feel, when the manager puts more trust in a retired 37 year old than you, but not just that. a 5foot something right back, around the same age in the centre off the park against Blackburn. this is when the youth can make a name, when there is injuries like this.
Rooney, valencia, smalling and wellbeck had great games, but evra again is lost, scholes will never regain match fitness, giggs has finished and carrick has lost his form again.

Good news coming out of Spain today. New Tax Laws are saying foreign players will now have to pay 54% tax rather then the 24% or something ridiculous they managed to do due to a loophole. This will give English clubs more chance when competing for the top players as players only pay 50% over here. Know this sounds silly but unfortunately players chase the money nowadays (can't blame them) so hopefully we won't lose out on players we should be signing to Barcelona and Madrid etc.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Are we in decline? The simple answer is yes. The fact that SAF brings on a 38 year old who hasn't played a match in 7/8 months is absolutely unbelievable. He could have put on Ando, Park, Rafael(and move Jones into the middle). He obviously has no belief in Pogba or Morrisson, who most here rate very highly. Yes, Scholes did ok (even if he did give the ball away for City's second). His pass rate was excellent, but he was playing against a team with only 10 men, who were tiring.
I really believe now that SAF has huge restrictions on spending money, but he obviously is getting paid handsomely by the Glazers and does not want to rock the boat by admitting it. The "no value in the market is carp" - we can either play with the big boys, or admit we can't afford to.
Now many times has SAF broke the transfer record? He won't be doing it anymore because we don't have the money. Signing a 38 year old only makes sense if there is no money available.
I also think Scholes made a huge mistake coming back. He will lose us games if SAF stubbornly plays him like yesterday as the old desire is there but he will be too slow, get tired quickly, he will get fustrated and commit his usual rash challenge.
This is really a step backwards for our club and a sure sign that SAF's thinking and decisions are failing him. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm a Rangers fan and season ticket holder at Ibrox and of course watch a lot of Scottish football. Lots of talk about Evra being replaced due to being poor defensively, and to be replaced by Emilio Izaguirre of Celtic. The guy is not the answer for a club like Manchester United. He's very similar in the sense that he's good going forward, but his positional play and defensive abilities leave a lot to be desired if I'm honest. Anytime he comes up against a winger willing to run at him and pin him back he is ineffectual and has cost Celtic on numerous occassions in important matches (such as when they blew the SPL title at Inverness last season, he was to blame for 2 goals). I feel there are many, many better options out there than Izaguirre. I'm not belittling the guy just because he is a Celtic player, just as a United fan also, I am pointing out that he lacks positional sense and defensive understanding that I feel would be exploited regularly in the EPL & CL.

Heres an interesting thought..banter poll:

Agree if you would rather win the premiership this year and rely on youth and current midfield...

Disagree if you would rather come second, which may force a midfield overhaul. City win the league but with the right investment we could plausibly win the majority over the next ten years...and maybe add a few more champions leagues...

From Tribalfootball.com

Cristiano Ronaldo is furious with the way he is being treated by Real Madrid fans.

Ronaldo refused to celebrate his goal in their romp over Granada on Saturday, blanking his teammates and coldly shaking the hands of Hamit Altintop and Xabi Alonso as they sought to congratulate him.

The Portuguese ace was jeered during the game, particularly when one back-heel did not come off. He was also booed during the Copa win over Malaga last week.

This development follows on from the El Clasico defeat before Christmas, when Ronaldo was jeered regularly by home fans against Barcelona.

Ronaldo, over the winter break, insisted he was happy in Madrid.

But the reaction of fans is hurting him and with Manchester United and Manchester City monitoring developments, he knows he would be welcomed with open arms by both Premier League giants should he choose a return to England.

look like they deal with it quite well Syd.they almost got a equalising goal in the last minute (n should have a penalty when the ball struck jones' arm before that but foy didnt give it).so when u said that united can win if evan didnt sent off in OT,we can see now that its not gonna happen coz united cant even had a comfortable win against 10men city.
oh,about they 'blatant penalty that not been given' when kolarov fouled valencia,i'm pretty sure that the comentator said it was outside the box.but i stand to be corrected though coz i still didnt watch the replay.n i also think that giggs should be given a marching order as well coz he make almost the same tackle like kompany on kun aguero.
City down to 10men for 80mins and lose 2-3, united down to 10men for 45mins and lose 6-1, that puts the result into perspective.

Well, that was interesting. Thought our boys played with tremendous heart and commitment, and at times played quite well, with many players having strong matches. Rooney was Rooney. The talent that is so hard to describe because he's different than anyone else you see play. He doesn't have tremendous speed, height or physical build, and he's not the best in the world at any one thing. But he is the most complete footballer in the sense that you could put him at any position on the pitch, attacking, defending or even in goal and he would do the job. He's at his best when he has a strong CF who can be relied on as a release valve, leaving Rooney free to roam without upsetting the formation. Anyone claiming he should be allowed to leave needs to immediately check themselves into a psych ward. Doesn't change any of my previously stated thoughts on the current squad, but it was a fun match, despite SAF pulling some very strange moves from the 50th minute onward. The red card was harsh in the sense that there wasn't contact, but the only way to prevent the horrific injuries that occur when those tackles make contact is to heavily discourage even making the tackle in the first place, regardless of outcome.

Yo guys wats up hope everyone had good Xmas and new year . First thing I wanna say is how good is smalling the chap is pure quality just gets on with his stuff rarely does he get taken on times tackle so well has so much pace he really is quick . Great in the air and never looks under pressure . He for me is englands best defender right now he must be a starter in euros .. second point is hernandez I luv him always laughing smiling looks like he loves life but in my opinion he shouldn't be a starter and I said this last year also when people called him world class for me he defo not world class . I think we need a new front man I like welbeck but at top level I not so sure but I say if we had a rooney cavani with hernandez and welbeck it be a nice 4 to have . Id like know wat u all REALLY think of hernandez his all round game ain't up scratch at moment . As for midfield I don't even wanna go there we all know we need 1 mabye two new bodies in there . Let's hope cleverly gets back soon we need his close control and speedy mind around box play little one twos with wazza . I still think we will win league and one off cups so it all good boys either way were all behind the team and manager . I luv this club its so much more than a game its religion for us all so let's all just get behind whoever wears our famous shirts .

Great result for us yesterday and a fantastic first half performance. The less said about the second the better although had the ref given us what was a stone wall penalty it would probably have been a lot more comfortable.

Anyhow, on to more pressing matters. Scholesy. The stats don't lie. Most likely he's a stopgap until the end of the season because we can't paper over the cracks. We need an overhaul in midfield. This year has shown the frailties that have been burning away for the past few years but thus have have been ignored. Hopefully SAF addresses the problems i'd personally like 2 new in the heart of the park and possibly a new winger as the speculation with Nani rumbles on. I'd love to see Mario Gotze at United, he excites me, do you think it could happen Ed/Syd?

Now the dust has settled heres what i think. We played well today in the first half but after their early goal in the second half we sat back to much and made some silly mistakes but we got away with it. For me the big difference today was Welbeck, he is the perfect foil for Rooney and enabled Rooney to play his best, if only we can get the right players in to offer Rooney the adequate support from midfield and i see the makings of another great team.

Onto the Scholes debate, if i set aside my feelings for a player who in my opinion is the best player to wear the shirt in my life time and focus purely on a practical point of view.
I think it's important to sign the right players and not just go brandishing the cheque book around not caring who you get as long as its somebody. So if the right players aren't available at this moment in time is there much point in wasting the little money we do have on a player who won't be needed in 6 months time or sooner if the injuries clear up? No its a waste of money that we don't have. So signing a player of Scholes' quaility(97% pass rate) who can fill the void until the injuries have cleared up is surely a good thing. He knows the club the players the manager the tactics and the fans, he knows whats expected of United players and he can still play a part, is he here to be first choice? no of course not he's here to add quaility in depth to squad. Better him Scholesy than Gibson right?

Lets hope we can get a few more players fit and we can kick on from here.

ok havent posted for a while on here so heres where i see the problem.
1/weak defense... the last two game against blackburn and newcastle they play to our weekness and pumped long balls into the box ..and our so called number 1 keeper doesnt command his area like van der sar did which takes the pressure off the defenders. ( losing NV so early was a blow as ferdy is slow and needs NV along side him to play at his best) and Evra is always out of postion)

2/our midfield is also week...carrick is to slow ...nani is too selfish and looses the ball too often because hes trying to do everything himself ...giggs and scholes need to be replaced and retire..young was good for 2 games. ( 2 world class MF needed to add to valencia and jones.)

3/forwards in my opinon are ok just need the service to get to them which isnt happening at the mo.

what do other think
