Reports out we have placed a bid or are about to of £23.5 million for Witsel, why ? This works out to 30.2 million, Benfica have stated any club interested will need to break the clause in his contract which is 40 million. We will need to bid £31.1 million to get him. So if the reports are true why have we done this ? Nearly £10 million under Benfica's asking price. I hope we do sign him for whatever price is required, before Real Madrid sign him.
Also would like to say Lukaku to West Brom on a season long loan looks like great business to me, being from the West Midlands my local team is West Brom.

Benfica aren't going to come out and say that he's available for £20m are they... just like no club will go straight in and offer the buy out clause, it's the usual run of the mill tactics to maximise the transfer fee. If indeed we are interested I imagine it won't take much more if any than the £23.5m you have suggested.

Well you wouldn't go straight in at the buy out price you will always want to bid lower to test their resolve, also if the player knows about a bid he may push for it.

Also came originally from "A Bola" the paper that reported Moutinho,Lucas Moura, were both certainties to join the club... forgive me if I am mistaken but neither of those players play for Man Utd...Take the story with a pinch of salt as it isn't going to happen

Di Maria had a £39m buyout clause and he went for £20m. Coentrao went for less than his buyout clause, David Luiz went cheaper. No one will pay £31m for Witsel.

Do you not understand shares? Once they have been issued the profit goes to those who have bought them. The glazers only get the issue price not the profit thereafter.

Well neither is andy carroll good enough for Liverpool and that was £30 something million, we could get sinclair for less than £10 million, he would add some pace and I don't think youngs that great either, bit of competition between those maybe if we did sign him. Not that were going to lol.

We would never pay £31m for Witsel so it's nonsense. If we have agreed a fee for Witsel then it will be around £20m I would imagine.

Talks are at an advanced stage for Witsel, he'll be a united player early next week. He's a far better addition to our squad than Moura would have been.

Fergie will only take him if he agree's to a haircut.

You mention the haircut, but didnt Fergie only sign Bebe on the basis that he had his dreadlocks cut off?

I would play kaka with schole in a 4 1 2 1 2 using valencia and evra to get forward down the wings barca play this way and it would work for us also kagawa is class was delighted we got him but he will never be as good as a fit kaka fact look at his stats for last year and the perfomances he is coming back from injurys a former world player of the year to boot kagawa better than kaka ha ha very good but kaka is a legend

I would have thought although AP has stated it would take a huge bid to get him that a figure of around £20m would be considered?

If so it seems ludicrous to me that we should not consider him at almost £10m cheaper than Modric.

Well I hope your little sister is ok and her medical (for what ever reason) goes well....

Ed002 I know you do not like to do guess work or for see the future of transfers and perhaps as not being a United fan you don't want to but i believe you have a very good knowledge of the game and you are very insightful so i would like to get your opinion on where we may see our money spent if anywhere considering we seem to be quite active this summer.
