This statement really sums it up;
“I’d like to get one player in during the transfer window if I could, ” he said. “I don’t see it happening really. Normally the player you really want you can’t get because clubs have their own criteria and priorities and also most of the players you’d like are involved in European football."
Okay, so these might be mind games but why would Sir Alex say he wants someone and then say we won't get them instead of just keeping it on the down low, what would he possibly gain from that? 90% of the other managers in the premier league don't care what sir Alex says, they're more interested in what their clubs are doing and who they can sign.
Other areas of the interview state that he would like a midfielder who has creativity within his game, someone who would also not really make an impact until the follwing year, so assuming that someone will be signed I'm probably going to say Defour, He's one of the most creative midfielders in the world only beaten by the Barca CM, Cesc and Kaka in my personal opinion. His impact wouldn't be made until the new season either because of his injury.
Now, i'm not saying this is what is going to happen because in my opinion we won't sign anyone else in January but if i was forced to give a name i'd say Defour.
p.s to people saying he'd fail the Medical you obviously don't know what the Medical is for, it is quite simply to find out the players fitness levels and to find any covered up injuries as long as the Med staff know about the injury in advance then the signing would not be a problem.

Regarding the player SAF wants to sign, scanning the web there are two articles, one saying inter milan are in talks with sanchez and the other saying both inter and real madrid have stepped up their interest in ganso and neymar. I don't know if these articles are reliable or if one of these is the player SAF is talking about but going on what i believe and others to, maybe he has had to move for the player due to other interest. p!&

Re Ninis- He is not cup tied. yes he has played in Europe but the new regulations state that any club can register one player who has played for another club in europe. Remember when real Madrid bought Huntelaar and Another midfielder and were allowed to register one of them? therefore Utd could register Ninis.

Answer- I understood if a player had played in the UEFA cup to December and they transferred in January they could play in the Champions League during the later rounds. However if they played in the Champions League to December they are not eligible for later rounds.

Dear redforlife and scholes shooting boots,
ngiak is certain you guys have heard ngiak's "predictions". a small buy with a lot of add ons and a larger one worth 12 to 15 million.
the first one apparently is already done.
and the second, even after sir alex said last week that there will be no purchases, ngiak's friends in the background mentioned that there was still some activity financially and legally regarding a purchase of this value.
that confused ngiak as his friends told him a different story. now sir alex says there will be a purchase and the papers seem to hint that it will be about 15 million.
go figure. that's as much as ngiak can be certain. as for whom. ngiak has almost no idea but probably a central midfield runner who can free up the creativity of the likes of anderson and carrick. henderson? rodwell? maybe

For those lucky enough to work at OT they are on the corridor walls for us to see and have been for several years with a few additions and updates here and there. The main development has always focused on the quadrants - now completed and the next phase is South Stand incorporating new rail line and lots of underground burying of same.
Have been there for years and not linked to Qatar Royal Family/Holdings but original drafts updated in last 2years by Glazers.

I don't think Ninis would be a great addition. He seems to be more suited to a role behind the striker as an attacking midfielder but we don't have such a position in our system (even in our 4-5-1 we play with 3 cm's and not 1 cam). He can also play on the wings but he doesn't have the physique nor the pace to be a good player in that position.
I think he doesn't deserve all the hype. It is quite good that he earned his first appearances at the age of 16 but you should remember that the greek league is really poor.
Henderson would be the better deal, as he is a proven cm in the premier league at the age of 20, even if he would cost 6-7m more than Ninis.
Couldn't agree more! I was the poster who first posted about us being in for Henderson a few months ago (and Benzema if Owen leaves), its pretty much a done deal but i don't know whether it will happen in the summer or Jan, if there was interest in him from another club say City, Chelsea or Arsenal then we would definately go after him in Jan!

As far as i know, United dropped interest in Sotiris Ninis earlier this season. But I could be wrong.
Although he's CL cup tied, he would freshin the team up for league & cup games.
Being one of the hottest properties in Europe he can be bought relatively cheap, he has a buy out clause of only 8 million pounds, bit of a bargain?
But personally, I doubt he will be bought. SAF is holding out for Henderson & Rodwell. Unless Carrick & Hargreaves (very likely) leave he will keep the space for the 2 lads to fill in. Ninis will also take time to settle in, time we cannot afford at this stage in the season.
I expect a bid for Henderson.

I posted here in the summer that United or City hired a greek interpreter as they both use the same facility in a local clinic / hospital for their medicals.
As City never signed a greek and as far as I am aware United have had an interest in Ninis before I reckon it could be him. As Fergie stated he might not have a big impact - This is due to the fact that he is CL cup tied.
Or I could be way off, adding 1 + 1 and getting 3 . .

Bayer Leverkusen ace Rene Adler has issued a 'come and get me' call to dream club Manchester United.
The Red Devils are understood to have scouted the Germany international goalkeeper as they prepare for the expected retirement of Edwin van der Sar at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has a £15million get-out clause in his contract if United come calling and he admits he would love to follow in the footsteps of his hero Peter Schmeichel.
Adler, who has 18 months left on his current deal, told the Sunday Mirror: "I have told the Leverkusen board that I am not willing to discuss any new contract until April.
"I just want to achieve a Champions Leaguespot with my team here now.

This is the player SAF hopes to sign in January.
However, original deal to loan Macheda was scuppered due to his desire to play in Italy which his agent facilitated.
Macheda options if successful loan and becomes a hot property in Italy:
1 Goes back to United a better player
2 Attracts a bid from Inter (United will want a deal for Sniejder)
3 Attracts a bid from Roma (As above for Di-Rossi)
United have gone back to Wigan offering Cleverly and Obertan as loan players until end of the season plus an increased up front payment from 6.75m to 8M, this time with no additional payments.(At this point, Wigan are not as keen, although they are exploring options in terms of available strikers they can bring in for the money United are offering. Alot of things must fall into place for this to happen, but watch this space).
We currently believe David Beckham will join and play for Spurs. The apparant delay to secure his signature is purely due to creating a water tight, plausible reason for his unavailability for Sunday's match with his beloved United. This is for Spurs supporters benefit who may take a dim view.

Firstly, N'Zogbia can't see it myself from what i know we are not interested in N'Zogbia at all (again i could have been told bs but i highly doubt it)
Secondly, Casillas is never going to leave Real Madrid (he's been there for years and has many more left in him) although i wouldn't rule out Real Madrid bidding for De Gea, they love to buy players they don't really need!

SAF's exact words were

This to me surely means its a foreign player. If it was say Rodwell or Henderson they would need as much time to bed in as they live near Liverpool, Sunderland (abit further i know)

Seeing as we have Lindegaard there is no need for Kusczack to be at our club. Also seeing as he is looking for a transfer then I believe he will be sold which will free up a space.

+If there was a spaced needed to be Vacated then Fergie would ask Neville to retire and free up his space, which gives another option.
Have you thought that seeing as two of our possible targets Jack Rodwell and Jordan Henderson are both under the age of 21 so they do not count towards our 25 man squad.
I'm going to have a wild guess and say your not a Manchester United fan but intact a Liverpool fan who is still angry at today's match and felt the need to try (and I emphasise TRY as it didn't work at all) and put United fans down.
Ed, do you think Fergie would ask Nev if he needed a spot vacated to make way for a transfer?

Ed maybe wengers comments about hazard are because he's heard of our interest and is only saying that so that hazard who would prefer a move to arsenal will stay put until arsene is ready to move for him in the summer.
