A complete winger clearout scheduled to happen in the summer with zaha, ince and ronaldo in. valencia and nani out. You heard it here first! FREDO

Believable12 Unbelievable63

We heard it here first and last, I would have thought!

Gav

Agree3 Disagree0

Realistically I could perhaps see our wingers next year be Valencia, Ronaldo, Young and Zaha. Question: would we give Ronaldo the number 7 back?

Fresh!

Agree1 Disagree0

What a pathetic thing to say, sell Valencia? The man who was our best player last season? logic at it's finest.

What would happen if we sold every player who has a run of bad form?

-JakeW

Agree1 Disagree3

Well if nothing else your definitely a chocolate!

Ren

Agree0 Disagree0

Everyone on here is keen to sell the best player of our 2010/11 campaign, and hardly anyone is moaning.
And Nani is younger than Valencia.
I'd happily sell Valencia if it means getting Ronaldo back, he never goes through slumps like Nani and Valencia.

Jonny8

Agree2 Disagree0

I think Man utd should buy Cassilas, Pepe Reina, ashley cole, lampard, zaha, Cristiano Ronaldo, lewandowski.

Can I just add on the Sneijder issue...

The fee at the minute is never an issue the main problem that teams are not willing to take on is the fact he hasn't been playing competitive football for the past 3 months. Not due to injury but to a fall out with the club leading to the sale of the player.

If it was the summer I reckon all the big English teams would be in for him but teams need players to make an impact straight away just look at Cisse for Newcastle last year added goals when Ba struggled and teams can't be waiting for a player to get match fit

RedKnight

Believable25 Unbelievable7

If you are seven points clear at the top, then you do have time to wait for player to come good before using them.
This must not be a reason to skip a bargain.
There might be other reasons to not sign him, but him not being match fit is no good reason to skip such a bargain.

He actually played DM in a midfield two before Mourinno pushed him up field.
Van der vaart was the 10 at Ajax, so snider played behind him back then

Jonny8

Agree5 Disagree0

Van der vaart would play more left of an attacking 3 and sneijder would play in a Midfield 3. Ajax historically never really play with a dm as they would have a sweeper/cb who would join midfield ie Danny blind, Ronald koeman.

Supasub

Agree0 Disagree0

If sneijder goes to gala the biggest reason will be the 15% tax over anything else, money before career is why he's on that downward spiral

Don't take my word for this, its just what I've heard. A friend of mine has a box at Spurs and knows Levy, according to him Zaha only wants a move to United. The only thing holding the move up is whether he comes now or summer, we want now but Palace wants summer.

You may ask why Spurs would know about the details of our transfers - well apparently they had the same talks, but Zaha wasn't interested. Nimely signing for Palace has further increased the likelihood of Zaha leaving in this window I would of thought.

Fresh!

Believable40 Unbelievable12

Not quite true! spurs were interested but for the value didn't see enough end product! and have switched targets! as simple as that!

The highly respected French newspaper L'Equipe is reporting that Fellaini is to sign for Chelsea within 72 hours. If that is the case then we need to get our act together quickly or we'll fail to get Strootman, Sneijder, Wanyama or any of the other good players that would strengthen our porous midfield.

Believable28 Unbelievable11

Is that the same paper who said hazard was def signing for us too

so chelsea sign fellaini and that means we won't sign anyone, no sorry not getting the logic.

Agree1 Disagree0

So Chelsea signing Fellaini means that we miss out on Wanyama or Strootman how?

DodgyBanter

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2013 21:53:29
The reality is we are very slow off the mark when chasing possible transfer targets. No need to panic but if we want to be a really good team, instead of a team topping a very poor EPL, then we need to strengthen now. To be playing Giggs and Scholes now is a sign of desperation not strength.

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt we will buy a "decent" player this window at most a youngster

Pardoe

I hate it when people refer to it as the EPL.

if galatasaray are the only team in for sneijder then he's not as good as some of you think. No top teams in for him.

Believable23 Unbelievable9

Wat a stupid statement ...... RVP ring a bell it seem we where the only ones who could get him

CAIN

10 Jan 2013 19:35:51
wrong because city tried for van persie

Agree3 Disagree0

City are looking at sneidjer

Agree0 Disagree1

It's his wage demand that are putting the top teams off. £150,000 a week is what he wants. Spurs are interested but the wage cap they have means they can't afford his wages...

Agree0 Disagree0

Em wrong I'll think you'll find mancini said maybe a month before we got him that he wouldn be able to get him....... Plus he is wanted but no one wants a biddin war

CAIN

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't remember SAF pursuing a player that knocked him back previously. You either want to play for Manchester United or you don't. I would be very surprised if a deal was done purely because he had his chance and rejected it. Plus, Paul Scholes was retiring at that point. At West Ham - First Half - Scholes was class.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2013 22:58:56
which mean that mancini spoke to van persie or his agent to be told not interested. So means they tried.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2013 16:09:45
My usual preference would be to wait and see what happens in any transfer window however if the details of Sneijder's move to Galatasaray are to be believed, you'd have to think that there is a reason other than financial why Prem clubs are seemingly uninterested.

A fee of roughly 10 million euros seems very reasonable, and 6 million euros per year is roughly 116,000 euros per week, well within the budget of United, City, Chelsea (admittedly they are well stocked for creative midfield options) and probably even Spurs these days.

Personally, I'd rather spend the £8.2 million quid it equates to, plus what is probably a similar wage packet for Sneijder than Lampard (if true) on a free.

Does anybody have a reasonable argument for exactly what it is that is putting teams off Sneijder? Because it clearly can't be financial, as his two options currently are a pay-cut at Inter or 116,000 euros at Galatasaray

Forilla

Believable17 Unbelievable2

United probably don't want him because he can't play in central midfield. They tried him as a central midfielder for Inter but the experiment failed miserably.

He is also injury-prone and didn't play anywhere near to the level as when he won the CL with Inter lately.

He just isn't a world class player anymore. So there is no reason to get him when you already have better alternatives and even if you want a cam then there a dozens of extremely talented players out there.

Agree0 Disagree2

No arguments wit that I expect us to at least bid an send reps ...... We could have sneijder in our ranks .......... I think he could really help players develop an he is class

CAIN

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not financial shortcomings that are stopping clubs from going for him, it's just the fact that he's not that good anymore. Ever since the summer of his transfer saga he's been on a downward spiral and was even given an early Christmas break by Inter, such is his form at the moment.

MattL

Agree0 Disagree0

He was given an "early Christmas break" because he refused to vary his contract. He's not playing anyway so they told him he could have the break early.

That is a punishment for a footballer, not a reward an he is fit. He is still world class even if not match ready as he's not playing week in week out. Would take him for 8-10m with wages of just over 100k in a heartbeat

Aj

Agree4 Disagree0

From the Utd point of view I think he had his chance and blew it through greed, I personally think that is it for him

The rumours of Fellaini to Old Trafford circling today, personally i think he'd be a great investment. He offers strength, control & passing as well as aerial ability. If we could get him for under £25 mil i'd be very happy! With a deal for Zaha to sign and then remain at Palace for the season, and clearing out the youngsters who haven't made it, it could be a potentially very good window in terms of business!

thoughts?

tbir.

Believable24 Unbelievable23

Would love Fellaini, perfect, what we need, physical presence, hes just shrugs people off, has added goals, a real top player...mad not to go for him at that price...years service left in him too

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he has Chelsea written all over him - they seem prepared to pay his release clause. We would never go up to £25 million.

Fresh!

Agree1 Disagree0

His technique and passing are decent but not want you want from a central midfielder in front of our back 4. We need someone with defensive qualities who can also start attacks with quick and quality passing. Fellaini isn't that player.

There is a reason why Fellaini had by far his best performances for Everton as a 2nd striker and not a midfielder. He is also a good midfielder but not the player we need.

United set to hijack Liverpool's bid for blackpool youngster Tom Ince, with negotiations coming to a standstill with Zaha and his agent, United turn to a cheaper and more talented option

Believable6 Unbelievable27

Ince is not more talented than Zaha. He has a better end product, but Zaha is a better all round player. He also has much more potential than Ince.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

If he was cheaper and more talented then why would we go after Zaha in the first place. Zaha is a more gifted player.

Hello, I live and work in Newcastle and rumour is from a close source of Newcastle Utd Fc that Danny Welbeck may be set for a loan move to the club as a short term replacement for BA because Newcastle are not hitting the asking price for LOIC REMY. I think this would be a smart move by both clubs as it would develop Welbeck with first team football and would also help Newcastle's cause. Only problem would be Fergusons frosty relashionship with Pardew after he called him a 'Hypercrite' in a recent press confress. What do you guys think?

Believable4 Unbelievable28

I think that would be a perfect move for both parties and the player. Newcastle have done well at producing and training strikers over the years I think Danny would emerge a better player.

Inner link from back room said united were waiting to see hw much low figure inter are willing to accepet.bcz if they approch first, asking price would go higher nd inter won't budge on it.
Third party contacts have bn made nd msg has bn conveyed to sneijder to have passions.
Now whn 8m bid is accepted united wil match it. 140k per week after tax has already bn on the table for him to accept.

Sounds genuine story to me.

What a player for 8 million but just can't see us buying him he messed us around wit wages and fergie doesn't usually forget these things, don't get me wrong I think he's quality!plus any truth that him and rvp doesn't see eye to eye?REDWILL

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounded solid, until the 140k/week NET

can't see it sorry

Jonny8

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't want him anyway. Would take valuable game time away from younger and still improving players. Should have signed for us 3 or 4 years ago instead. Need to use the money for a strong midfielder to protect the back 4, e.g. Strootman, Fellaini, Lars Bender etc. Personally I'd go for Wanyama.

Agree0 Disagree0

Snjeider is not to be missed.. If we sign him the treble is on..

Karni

Agree1 Disagree0

Well fergie was willing to offer him 160k a week before 2 seasons so may be just may be i think he will accept anything around it and cover for lost time in his career.
Rodio17

Seriously for the figures bounded about you wouldnt take a punt on a proven player?

no one was saying this two windows ago when the fee was nearly treble that

cultered & world class, bit of a no brainer

oh and wesley voted rvp number 1 in his top three for world player of year so i guess they don't hate one another that much

Can't imagine sneijder would have put van persie in his picks for the ballon d'or if they didn't see eye to eye.

SYDNEY
Ya figures are way off mate 140k net is not 280k gross, it doesn't quite work that way, his accountants will ensure a lot of his pay is not taxable such as pensions which are not subject to tax until he claims them and other endeavours, not such loopholes, more clever investing. Big earners have good financial advisors mate,
SHANDY !

Agree0 Disagree0

Shandy, the club would have to pay £280k a week for Sneijder to receive £140k net. I believe there are no longer any tax loopholes for players anymore.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2013 19:26:28
As I said there not loopholes, there clever financial manoeuvres . I do it myself so please stick to discussing dodgy football rumours .The gross can be altered to take into account the tax free element to provide a higher net value long term . or do you think the well paid all get a standard pay cheque now your sorely mistaken
SHANDY

Agree0 Disagree0

Shandy, I know what you are talking about as Ashley Cole, Ferdinand etc used to do it, but the government have cracked down on it all. Players know it's morally wrong so they no longer do it. Are you talking about when they set up a business and get paid that way just paying 20% instead of 50%? If so this thing is not happening anymore as the government have cracked down on it.

Sydney! {Ed004's Note - I don't think many players would care if it is morally wrong Tbf. Also couldn't the club paying him in equipment such as buying him a car saving him on tax etc?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed004, Ed002 has said that the days of oil paintings, fancy cars and houses bought for players to avoid paying taxes is not that common anymore. There are loopholes, but the government have been cracking down on it. Obviously small fries can get away with doing it, but high profile players and people cannot really do it anymore.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't need waste all that money on him. Fergie knows better. Them FIFA games you all play.

Agree0 Disagree1

10 Jan 2013 12:13:06
Being a Palace fan and a Zaha fan I will say that if I wanted him to go anywhere it would be to United. He has struggled with his end product in the past but this season he has improved and can fully understand why United are in for him now. Sir Alex will turn him into something special I have no doubts. Now my understanding is this: Arsenal and Spurs have backed out of the running for Wil, as the player only wants to move to United. The only way this will not happen is if United mess things up themselves. Now United are the only club in the running and Wil has said he will only join United, United are playing hardball with the price. United will get him for less than is being reported in the tabloids, but need to be careful not to upset the Palace hierarchy and collapse the deal. I also understand that United want him now, not in the summer. -MB-

Agree0 Disagree0

When you say united want zaha now do you mean they want the transfer to happen in january and he will be loaned back? or they want him in there first team from Jan?

12million for a CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER with no end product?

Another fine bit of business, if I say so myself. Our transfer policy is weird as f*ck.

RED_SKY

Agree0 Disagree1

As I live near the area, I've seen Zaha play on two occasions last year. I have to say he was non-existant in both games and while he took on players, his final product was always bad. He could leave us as frustrated as Nani. However, he is young, Ronaldo's final product used to frustrate us too. Let's see what happens.

Agree0 Disagree0

Red_sky

Just because we won't go for the glory signings all the time, doesn't make our transfer policy weird. He's english, young and shows big potential... 12m? yip, in the current market I'd say that's near enough bang on mate.
