Eds what do you think about Davide Santon to replace Evra (£10m) and Yohab Cabaye (£15m) for the midfield both have been playing great for Newcastle

Thanks
Jack Tyrrell
Ireland

Believable9 Unbelievable18

Completely agree, someone under the radar who can keep possession, attacks well and doesn't get caught out as much as evra seems to get these days!

Agree0 Disagree0

Santon isn't actually a left back he can play there but is just filling in there as we don't have another one ready. Hes an established rb for inter and Italy under 21s. Think it would be impossible for you to get cabaye for that price he's a class act with a long term deal. Ashley knows what he's doin. Agree he would fit in excellent at united but we are building a strong tema up here. Good luck hope somehow u win the title. Martyn

Agree0 Disagree0

Not good enough frankly!the bottom line is we will probley bring in clyne, kagawa and gaitain.when realy my prefered choice would be tiote, modric and baines.

Agree0 Disagree0

Santon can play LB or RB, He is quality, young and has prem Experience with Newcastle. Id love him at United to put pressure on Evra and To fight for the number 1 RB spot. Id go for him at 10 million. Cabaye wont leave Newcastle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Santon not good enough to replace Evra. If we're going to replace Evra we need someone like Lahm or Jordi Alba.

Some interesting news regarding javi martinez, apparently after the Europa leauge final he bid a fair well to his team mates and told them he will be joining a premier leauge side? Hmmm, also united scouts were watching that game and soon dissapeared after the final whistle. Interesting one to look out for guys.

CM

Believable20 Unbelievable8

Dissapeared after the final whistle? As if most scouts get out a tent and sleep in the stadium? Where does it say that he bid a fair well to all his teammates? It is very likely he'll move tbh whether it be Spain or England is another question!

is there any interest in falcao?

Believable4 Unbelievable32

I imagine Chelsea will offer Torres plus cash for Falcao this summer.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt that Syd that would mean Chelsea will have to sign 2 strikers with Drogba leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very much doubt Torres and money to be offered.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well would you straight swap Falcao for Torres? I know I wouldn't. Forget the £50m fee, Torres is probably worth £15m-£20m in today's market whereas Falcao is easily a £30m player.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

But they have money Syd, Torres has just come into form, they will be buying somebody to play with him not to replace him.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres has not come into form mate, by laws of average he was going to score a few eventually. I would swap with Atletico, then buy Higuain & play Sturridge as a striker. Keep Drogba for one more year whilst Lukaku is out on loan. Falcao, Higuain, Sturridge & Drogba/Lukaku isn't a bad four.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take Torres to OT tomorrow...he would fit well and be loved!

Class is permanent and all that...

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets go and buy fat Ronaldo and Luis Figo then shall we? If class is permanent like you have just said. When a player has lost his pace and his edge there is no way of getting it back. He can try to adopt a different style of play, but lets face it speed and quick bursts was what separated him from the rest. At 28 he doesn't have time on his side does he.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think every top side in world football will have some sort of interest in Falcao, I just don't think United will be in for him. You never know though.

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

Did chelsea's interest in falcao not end when AVB left
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea's interest in Falcao long pre-dates AVB.}

Lost his pace at having just turned 28!? think its more of a confidence thing combined with adapting to a new playing style. Swap for falcao with or without money actually seems fairly feasable tho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Atheltico bought falcao last summer only for 40m euro. why would they sell for less when he's been great for them!

Devil for Life

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't really need another striker. Rooney/Welbeck/Hernandez are doing well up front. It's the midfield we need. Scholes won't last much longer... nor will Giggs.

A lot of rumours going round about Javi Martinez at the minute. He'll be a great signing if we can get him.

Do you think Man utd can Get kagawa and Baines. is there any other player united linked to ?They say Baines deal cud be done by next week donno about Kagawa

Believable25 Unbelievable6

No not baines he wont leave everton he gets homesick

Agree0 Disagree0

I find it pointless replacing evra with baines

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah he gets really homesick, there's no way he could manage to uproot and move all the way from merseyside to manchester! you must be having a laugh!

Agree0 Disagree0

Irwin, Heinze and Evra have all been excellent left backs for us for the last 15 years or so, so good I cant even remember who was our left back before Irwin. Baines is a decent left back, nothing more and although Evra has shown defensive frailties the last 18 months he is still better than Baines, step backwards, no thanking way
Invisible Stuey

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love it if we signed these two, could have em both for under £20 million aswell which is great value in todays market.

Think a lot of people would be surprised by Baines, i cant ever really remember him having a bad game or being embaressed by a winger, think he would fit in perfectly.

Ed i want to know if any scout was sent to watch the Europa league final last nite.
Sir Alex should stop worrying himself with deals that are not likely such as Hazard, modric etc.
You have the likes of cheick Toite, sidgurdsson, joe allen, dembele and others who will be much more cheaper and also good.

Believable9 Unbelievable15

Good players, but I don't think they'll bring that touch of class that we need. I think that would just add same level depth to a squad that is becoming increasingly average.

TM

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't wanna settle for just good, we wanna be looking at world class players, we already have good players at the club, we need a world class midfield player at the very least

BONEYJOE69

Agree0 Disagree0

Good players make a good team! Exceptional players make an exceptional team - this is what United have been known for, for many years! Our ability to take young players with exceptional talent and turn them into the world best players!

Agree0 Disagree0

BONEYJOE69

At the very least? What would you expect then? I can tell from your name that your quite immature. Joe Allen all day long for me, he's easily been the 4th or 5th best midfielder (Not AM, actual midfield) this season. Behind, Yaya, Modric, Ramires and maybe Song. Not bad for someone who's only 22.

Percy

Agree0 Disagree0

Percy, so u dont rate silva as one if the best midfielders this season?! First half of the season he was untouchable! Easily the best player in the prem! And thats including van percy and rooney! But allen is a decent player, very good pass completion rate aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

There is a reason they are much cheaper players. All good decent players, and all suitable to be top players in mid table teams. Good people are coming up with different names from the norm but come on, seems all of a sudden now City look like winning the league everybody is panicking they will buy all the top players andwe need to go for the bargain "bin", is the Liverpool site or something?

question for ed002, or any ed that has some knowledge. Moussa Sissoko's agent has come out to say discussions between clubs have begun. Any idea as to who they might be? I know Liverpool were meant to be quite keen on the player.

Sanshine {Ed002's Note - I suspect he means that he is talking to Toulouse about Sissoko leaving - they would not be pleased if he were talking of talks with another club. Right now perhaps Roma is the most likely destination.}

We should press ahead and sign James Rodriguez of FC Porto. He seems to be a very good player with great promise and plus a left footed player would be great for us. Man Utd for life!!

Believable25 Unbelievable1

I read on the official site that Porto won't let anyone talk to him unless they meet the 45 million euro clause in his contract. Ridiculous money for a developing player.
20 Rising

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love us to sign Rodriguez, he's f***ing class (sorry for expletives) and will only improve at a better side, no disrespect to Porto. Only problem is Portuguese teams sell players for a fortune.

Believable2 Unbelievable20

10 May 2012 15:36:47
Just out of curiosity, how would people like us to set up if we do acquire the people we are 'supposed' to? If we ignore the defence - I can't see us setting up with anything other than a back-four for a while. In terms of attacking, would people like a front 3 of Hazard, Rooney and Kagawa? with Rooney furthest forward, and Wellbeck being substitutable into that (pretty much) anywhere?

If this is the case? Only an assumption from me. Where do the rest of the players fit? or are we going to play 5 in midfield etc? I'm only looking for ideas, the players that we're suggesting are great, but with a traditional team set up, I wonder how we will make it modern (what I believe is part of the gulf between us and Barce rather than our 'poor' players) and if these players are the right ones to do it.

I just wondered what you all think? I suppose not just a United question but a football one too.

Jack

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Obviously it depends who we sign, but I suspect we'll either stick as are or play a 4-3-3/4-5-1.

judging by the players we are rumoured to be looking at, i'm inclined to go for the 3-3 / 5-1 setup, because it would seem were looking at attacking players that aren't strikers, given that berbatov and possibly Owen/macheda are heading out, a 1 striker system seems likely.

having said that, Rooney has been playing off a striker this season, and a lot of it would come down to where he would play, if he were pushed on, as was the case a few years ago, I can't see us playing anything other than a 3-3/5-1 formation.

I would like to see us sign a proper goal getter though, to play ahead of Rooney. Just my opinion.

TM

Agree0 Disagree0

I do agree with TM though

Personally, I would rather us go after a real classy finisher and leave Rooney in the hole (but cant see how this ties in with buying a player like Kagawa, if it becomes true)

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

I've been thinking the same...with some of the players we have been linked with or fans are calling for i.e. Hazard, Kagawa, Muniain they would seem to suit a narrower formation like City use, perhaps a 4231

But the problem with that of course is that Fergie loves out n out wingers and he loves a bit of the old 442 (or 4411 with Rooney/Cantona) so it's hard to imagine him going narrow

So I can only imagine that if we had of bought Nasri/Sjneider last summer or if we buy Hazard/Kagawa this summer they would take Rooney's place in the hole with Rooney pushed up front?

It would make sense as there arent many rumours linking us with top strikers and I would say Wellbeck needs time to develop before becoming a regular starter (if we are going to compete at the top) plus Hernandez should be used more as an impact player or in lesser games for now IMO

Why is everyone so convinced Hazard is going to city ?
His agent has rubbished all this "ill be wearing blue" crap,
He has voiced his admiration towards MUFC and Sir Alex more than once,
and he said he wants to play in a team were he will play every week, so this all points to him coming to us, the Glazers owe us a HUGE signing and I for one would love that to be Eden!
Comments Welcome.

L.A.7

Believable36 Unbelievable5

Us United fans might think the Glazers owe us a nice big treat in the transfer market, but it's debatable whether the Glazers themselves share that view.
They seem more of the taking type than the giving type.
I just can't see us trumping Citeh's fee and wages.
Would Hazard really choose us for "football reasons" like Fergie mentioned recently? For regular football?

I don't know enough about Hazard to answer that.

Ild love it aswell it would take some of the abuse away from the glazers and prove that although they have our club in debt that they still can back the manager in the transfer market!

LUHG

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe if we get Hazard we would play him as a attacking midfielder, ive watched him afew times this season and he can score and open up defences with a killer pass, hes Lilles top scorer&assist i think, and people need to stop hating on the potential signing of Kagawa the boys a class act, but i agree with maybe signing a left back and a forward.

L.A.7

Agree0 Disagree0

The glazers recently splashed the cash on one of there other american sports teams recently totalling $86ish million on 3 players. So i recon they are willing to spend where needed. We spend 50m last summer and still had cash for sneijder. Glad it didn't happen though as its played about 8 games all season for inter.

Thought this one would happen a while back! Strong, fast, clever and mature for a player who is 20 years of age..

Ozwald

Believable23 Unbelievable3

Ozwald I've said for months now that he'd be United player in the summer, glad some others agree, this lad is going to be class especially with the right teacher Sir Alex Ferguson

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

He isn't class at all far from it

Agree0 Disagree0

He wont improve our starting 11
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

He wouldnt be brought to instantly improve our 1st team though would he? and he's cost a nominal fee so no pressure to play him straight away

It's a win win win situation for me so I'll be delighted if he joins! He's young, cheap and british for starters, he adds depth to the RB position which we need (freeing up Jones/Smalling for CB too)....then, 1) if he turns out to be awesome it's a great bargain and he can take over from Raf 2) if he turns out to be just OK then still a bargain for a decent, british squad player for years to come, or 3) if he turns out to be sh!t then sell him down the line, making little loss (if any)

Win win win

Gav

p.s. I would like us to buy a ready made quality RB dont get me wrong...but we aint going to get that in every position (LB,RB,CM,LW,ST) all at once so Clyne is a good punt for now IMO, whilst we should concentrate more on improving the other positions

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

You people who say he isn't good enough or wont improve our starting 11 are just thick! He's 20, probably the best British right back in the country for his age. He'll be solid in about 4 years time, maybe even before. The fact we can get him without spending much money for something special in the future i mean how do you guys not see that?:|

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Ozwald 100%. This lad is a great prospect, how wouldn't he improve our starting 11? He's defensively and positionally better than Rafael and let's face it Smalling and Jones aren't RB's. Clyne can also play LB. He'd be a decent signing. When Smalling signed having only played 10 PL games and unknown to pretty much everybody what did everyone think 'Oh great Fergie's brought another kid' he hasn't turned out bad has he. Same with Jones.

I dont know bout you guys but they are all achievable with experience too. All three of them could add to all of our youngsters games. Most of all not wanted by the bank of England "s**tty" Please comment

THESE THREE SIGNINGS, I WOULD BE VERY HAPPY WITH.WELL SAID.
QUINNER99

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see these 3 happening but the one I caanot see is Villa he will not leave Barca. Sneijder and Fellaine is what we require Sneijder can run a game on his own when he is on form and Fleanine can break up play and get stuck into tackles somebody who we are missing since Keano left. Sneiders injuries would be a concern but look any transfer is gamble, we also lack leaders on the pitch and need Rooney to step up and be one and we need Vidic back ASAP. Higuanine(sorry for the spelling) might be available from Real Madrid and might be worth a look at, finally a new number 2 and a shake up of our back room is also required most of them are in their jobs too long and are in the comfort zoon. Somebody like Zola would be my choice for a number 2 knows the game inside out and would not be a yes man like Phelan(does any of the players actually listen to him during games). Really been impressd by Gary Neville on Sky this year could be a future manager of us.

I was just wondering if United still had an interest in Brazilian CB Dede, they were heavily linked with him before and he is already in the Brazil squad.

I would love Leighton Baines to join us, he has by far been the best LB in the country over the past 2 years and would be a superb signing.

Kagawa is a talented player and if he is only going to cost £7million then, for me, thats got to be one of the best bargains going.

SAF has said up to 3 players if possible. I had hoped for more but in SAF we trust. I think we need a CB, LB, 2xCM and a ST.

Thoughts Ed? {Ed004's Note - I don't rate Baines highly. Cole is far better for me and that is why he is England Number 1 left back. Baines is good but I just don't think he is world class. He is given the run around by people who have speed or who are very strong.}

Believable7 Unbelievable3

If United buy Leighton Baines that seriously shows how much money or ambition we don't have, he's average at best. Aly Cissokho or Izzaguire would be much better buys the latter is a genius.

"I only caught a bit of the Bilbao game but Muniain impressed with what I saw. He picks balls up and works in the space between midfield and defence and his movement was sharp, in fact he played a little and I stress a little like a right footed Messi in the way he looked for gaps and ran into them.

Martinez is wasted in defence but holding our midfield would be interesting

Red Man"

@Red Man.

The more i see of Muniain, the more reminds me, not of messi, but of another Barcelona player, Iniesta, who is one of my favorite players to watch.

What do you think about United going for Muniain as a fall back option if we fail to sign Hazard? He allegedly has some attitude problems but he surely can't be any worse than Eden "i can't stop talking about other clubs" Hazard? He can play on the left and as an attacking midfielder equally well, chips in with his fair share of goals and last night showed he has great determination and work ethic too.

Athletic are willing to sell Muniain as well and have been hawking him around for sometime as informed by the Ed. Not the case with Llorente and Martinez though, sadly.

25mil pounds for Muniain should definitely test Athletic's resolve surely? Muniain, Kagawa, Clyne, Izaguirre would all be very shrewd business for the summer if we can get them. "Value for money" may i dare say it. Although i wonder how SAF talks just about 2 or 3 players joining when with the departures, we obviously need more?

REDFAITH

Believable12 Unbelievable2

I agree Muniain impressed me in the final last night. He was one of the players who didn't freeze on the big stage. I hope that he is being considered by the scouts. If he was a friend if De Gea that would be even better!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes REDFAITH completely agree with the likeness to iniesta, very similar in the way they use their bodies to shield the ball when dribbling etc.

I would love to see him in a united shirt, his versatility & creativity would be a great addition to the squad, i worry slightly about his physique but as mentioned above the way he uses his body is very clever so that hopefully wouldnt be a problem.

Fergie needs to get De Gea to ring him! lol

Gpot7

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought he looked like a David Silva (1st half of the season). I am sure Ed002 said Bilbao may be tempted by a 20m euro offer? That is what £18m? I do worry about his size, but we cannot keep missing out on little gems to our rivals and watch them turn out to be top quality. Perhaps we should take a chance and for £18m it could end up being a steal. I have a feeling Liverpool may make an offer for him, not sure he would want that move, but sometimes there's ways to convince players (signing on fee, double his wage etc)

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

REDFAITH

In Muniain I saw a player who wanted the ball when tightly marked in a big final. He led from the front and was brave. I know what you mean about Iniesta I just felt he was like a young Messi when he hadnt quite got the penetration into the box.

This lad is only 19, an age where Pogba is not deemed old enough yet Muniain can be the star in a major final. I know everyone screaming for Hazard Rodriguez but Muniain may be a dark horse in this. He is not left footed but his work rate is exceptional. While everyone is looking at Hazard SAF has also had chance to see Muniain against us, remember SAF often listens to his own team and we know we had rings run around us by Bilbao. I might be tempted to make him a target this summer

Hi guys, sorry haven't been on for a long long time!

From what I have heard, the signing of Kagawa is a 90% done deal, just need to sort out the personal terms and obviously he will need to pass the medical etc. The fee is supposedly £7 million due to his remaining contract length, and I personally think this is a very smart buy. The guy is class, and plays the exact role we are missing but I still feel (If fletcher is done) we need a ball winning box to box midfielder as Carrick is getting on now, and Cleverly is fairly similar to Kagawa.

I would like to also see a quality striker to accompany Rooney up top as I feel Welbeck whilst high on potential is not ready to play those big games yet, and Hernandez as much as I hate saying it is not as good as we all thought from his quality first season.... still a decent player to come off the bench though!

Personally I would love to see Falcao, he reminds me a lot of tevez, and he has the strength, pace and technique to make it in the premiership! It is unlikely we would go for him though, and if we do not, then I would like to see a target man bought in, and the only suitable player I can think of is Llorente!

Oh and maybe a left-back (Baines? Alba?) As Evra has been pash this season!

Thoughts guys?

Where have you heard this from then mate, joeyored

Who are you?

Hopefully Hernandez will be fine next year after a break for the summer. I hadn't realised he hasn't had a break for 3 years, no wonder he has looked poor for the last 6 months. Fergie has obviously realised this and hopefully the summer off will get him back to the player we hoped he would be.

Falcao and Llorente, did you watch the game last night by any chance lol?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez not as good as first thought!!
He's had an average second season thats all,the majority of players have a terrible second season. Judge him after next year and you'll be on on his bandwagon again

Agree0 Disagree0

I just don't see this Kagawa deal happening at all. I don't think he is good enough for united, actually, I don't think that a lot of the names being banded about at the moment are united quality.

SAF wanted Sneijder and he also wanted David Villa. Neither player came at the time but it certainly shows the caliber of player that we are interested in.

Although I've joked about Sneijder's age in another post I think that he may still be a target for this transfer window. He has experience at the highest level and his quality cannot be questioned despite a poor season by his standards.

BTW. Hernandez has been blocked by SAF from playing for his country over the summer in order to get the rest he needs for the next premier league season. I think this means we won't be signing a marquee striker (I thought we would) - maybe we will get a prospect though with Owen, Berba and Bebe all likely to leave.

I expect a midfield signing, but I don't think it will be Kagawa.

Hernandez has still chipped in with 11/12 league goals, including winners away at swansea & everton etc! this whilst being tired & injured, still think he has plenty to offer but yes if berbatov goes i think we could do with another striker.

Falcao was bought 12 months ago for 35mil so can rule him out 100% for us tho im afraid.

I used to post on here a fair bit about 6 months - 1 year ago but have been travelling so haven't been on in ages!

I hope im proved wrong about Hernandez, but for me, whilst he is a great finisher, he is like bambi on ice outside of the penalty box and often struggles to control the ball and seems fairly poor at passing. Don't get me wrong, I really like his attitude and hope he comes back strong next season but I have my doubts.

My friend works for sky sports news, not high up but he is involved in writing the live text in sports fixtures and he is usually a reliable source when it comes to finding any truth in rumours as he is a huge football fan (Arsenal unfortunately) and thus is in the know on many deals which are not released publicly. He says we certainly are interested in Kagawa, and Kagawa is interested in us, and that apparently a £7 million (with various additional payments based on goals/appearances) bid has been accepted, but both clubs have agreed to keep it quiet until after the Euros. My source has been wrong a couple of times of course, but not because of fictional transfers, but because they collapsed at the final hurdle i.e. Sneijder. Without any interferences i expect Kagawa to be a red by the end of the summer.

In reference to Falcao and Llorente, yes of course i had watched the game last night lol, but anyone can see these two are quality from previous games, and we will need a striker as it looks as though Berbatov, Owen, Diouf and Bebe (lol) will be off. Would be nice to see will keane promoted but i really doubt he will be, and most likely will be loaned out next season. Another option would be Cavani from Napoli who also looks a great player but would probably cost close to £30 million (ed?).

I just saw the news about Hernandez being blocked Nip and I think its a good move by Fergie, lets hope its down to fatigue more than lack of technical ability. Would love to see Hernandez fill his potential!

Sorry I also forgot that the "name" doesn't come up:

Also Olivier Giroud could be worth a punt? Very clinical and 6'4/strong, still fairly young at 25... Also would be nice to stop the gooners getting him as they are supposedly interested (heard nothing about this from my mate though)...

UNITED_LEGENDS {Ed002's Note - It was expected that Giroud would stay within France with a move to PSG but performances this season have seen Lyon, Marseille, Valencia, Newcastle, Villarreal, Arsenal and particularly Malaga show an interest. At one point Nicollin discussed the interest in the player saying Newcastle were too minor a club and Arsenal would have to pay 50M euros, if not 60M euros for the player. The reality is that he will move for perhaps 20M euros or so in the summer as it will be tough for Montpellier to persuade him to stay. Interest at the moment is still being shown by Arsenal and probably Liverpool whilst Bayern Munich have made an approach to Montpellier and have held some discussions about the player. The player declared an interest in a move to Italy but much will depend on the price - I don't see Marseille being able to pay enough, nor perhaps Lyon.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow sorry also forgot to mention....

The Kagawa signing is financial genius for the club, as half our support comes from asia and with park looking like being offloaded this summer, Kagawa is the best Asian player out there that we could bring in!

UNITED_LEGENDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Kagawa has Signed a 3 year deal folks Dortmund more or less said this the other week. United will also sign PSV midfielder Kevin Strootman before the Euro's start.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez hasn't had an average year, he's been bloody awful. He can't even trap a ball and that can't all be down to tiredness. He's an embarrassment!! Even last season he was awful outside the box and the majority of his goals were tap ins. Yet people are saying Kagawa isn't good enough. these people haven't watched Dortmund that's for sure. The only thing he has in common with Park is the they are both Asian. he's quick, has instant control, though right footed, he scores and passes well with his left. He can play as a second striker, on either wing or as an attacking midfielder, plus he's only 23. I think his price is like 10-12 million euros or 8.7 -10.5 million quid, I guess he isn't marquee enough for some. Bloody good player and light years better than anyone we can call an attacking midfielder at OT atm.

Ed! Does Lavezzi has a buy out clause of around 31 million euros?

I think if this is the case then he is definitely worth looking at(if player wishes to come). He has been in great form this season and perhaps what we are lacking up front.

Victor J. {Ed002's Note - Forget any thoughts about a "buy out clause" as such but he is available for a price broadly in that region. There is interest in Lavezzi from several clubs including Manchester City, Chelsea, Juventus, Zenit, PSG and particularly Inter and AC Milan. I think it would take a very high offer - more than 30M euros, some trading or a third-party ownership deal bid to get Napoli to sell the player who is unwilling to extend his existing contract which runs to 2015. Inter have offered 15M euro plus Marco Faraoni, Goran Pandev and Joel Obi but that offer is not acceptable to Napoli.}

Fergie has said he wants to sign 3 Players. We have already held talks with the players we want, Fergie wants all players signed before Euro 12 is possible.

Clyne, Kagawa and Hazzard.

Clyne and Kagawa almost done deals - I have been told Kagawa as close as next week after the German cup final. Fergie has talked to Hazzard and has a massive part to play if he is going to choose us over City. Hazzard has huge respect for Fergie. He has not signed for City, he hasnt looked round any houses, We have held talks, City have made a offer but nothing will be done untill after the French League is over on May the 20th.

LB J Alba(12mil)
CB J Martinez(32mil)

CM Honda (15mil)

81million not likely but would shake up squad with genuine talent, pace and youth

Believable7 Unbelievable21

Javi martinez is and centre mid or defensive mid not centre back he was only filling in there cause of injurys like carrick did when we had injurys ... but he is a very good player who i think should be our number 1 target

Agree0 Disagree0

Only one player on that list will come possibly come, Kagawa. Alba has agreed to go to Barcelona, Martinez has a massive price tag United won't be able to afford him City will but not sure If there after him, Van Der Viel is class don't know If United are in for him, Diarra can't see United being interested personally, Honda had a move fall through last season with Lazio and as far as I know United aren't interested.

Just a thought..... Most on here think martinez is a must for next season. We want a player that sits infront of the back four tackling and braking up attacking threat and then just giving an easy pass to out more creative forward player to do the rest. I agree with most that this is what we need and have been lacking this season. My point is do we need to spend 30 plus million on Martinez or are there more cheaper options. Yes he is really good at doing the job we are after but do we need to spend that sort of money on that type of player. Ther are plenty of players out there that can tackle and give an easy pass. I guess I'm just worried we spend all our money on a defensive player and then skimp on other areas.

Believable3 Unbelievable9

I think the only thing that holds Tiote back is his passing which wasn't shabby at all against City, he was munching players like a stoner munches crisps.. Aggressive and a lot.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Jones should sit in front of the back four as a defensive midfielder. He doesn't yet have the awareness needed to be a really good defender. Smalling is the better defender. What we need is a proper creative midfielder.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who are the cheaper alternatives, as I cant think on any really good ones that improve on what we already have hence all the Martinez mania
Invisible STuey

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont see the difference between carrick and martinez

why spend so much money on a younger version when carrick is doing extremely well and knows the premiership..

Rudi

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez is a better version of Carrick IMO as he is better defensively and about as good on the ball. The bonus of having Martinez in there is that it would allow whoever is his midfield partner more freedom to create and go forwards

Tiote - I was a fan of his initially but as well as his passing, his first touch looks a little slack to me at times. Certainly for a United team wanting to do well in Europe

Jones - similarly to Tiote, I think his first touch and composure is a little lacking atm for him to earn a place in our midfield going forwards

What about Sandro from Spurs as a shout? Can't say I've seen loads of him this season but he looked class when he first emerged, he was a beast in a couple of Spurs games in recent weeks, he can tackle well, adds a bit of height, and is decent on the ball....not saying I'm convinced on him but another option to consider perhaps?

Gav {Ed004's Note - Martinez is twice as good on the ball as Carrick. Martinez has the ability to dictate play from Bilbao playing at centre back so he would easily dictate games for us}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed004 I will bow to your superior knowledge as I've only watched Martinez properly a handful of times, and recently it's been in defence which is annoying!

I did want to say he is better than Carrick on the ball but didnt want to ham him up too much, my main point being that he is a much better all rounder. Partner him with another good all rounder (but possibly a more nimble, technical type) in our CM and we'd be far more dominant in games...it would be mouthwatering

Gav {Ed004's Note - Both myself and Ed 1 have been watching him for about 2-3 seasons now. It was a shame he didn't get more game time for Spain in the world cup}

Guys Do you still think that price of Munian - 40 mill, Martinez - 35 mill....... they loss to athletico madrid 3-0... poor defence from martinez... poor passing from munian.... totally poor performance at the top level.... what do you think ed Deep Rider {Ed002's Note - Prices do not vary on a game by game basis.}

1 game too far for bilbao is what i think. 2 players dont make a team of 11. Madrid have more quality players in many positions. So the better team won.
