{Ed007's Note - I have put a new poll up, so get voting on it:

Considering the lack of transfer activity (and it was the Community Shield against a Championship side) are you happy with the performance/result today?

No.
That midfield of Giggs Carrick and pass back Cleverley would not even frighten Rochdale.Ok if we have not signed anyone we haven't signed anyone but why oh why persist with Giggs in midfield.
I think its a severe case of emperors new clothes with Giggs now.As for Cleverley oh dear some one needs to tell him at the start of the match which way we are kicking.Give the kids a proper chance it does not matter if we win anything or not.
Come on Moysey Fergie has gone leave his favourites in the past please.Go for your own team we will back you all the way

Performance was slow and no urgency about the team. Yeah it was the Community shield but last season was the same, the team is playing a lot slower than the exciting football we played 4/5 years ago. We might do well in Premiership playing with this squad and this style ( as long as Rooney stays ) but we will get ate in Europe!

On the plus side some good young players coming through Januzaj, Lingard, Powell and I think Zaha will be a great player! Jones, Anderson and Valencia def not good enough! IMO

Overall a satisfactory if not exciting display

Jones not good enough are you smoking something, he is the nowaday Duncan Edwards,

First Off I am Very please for Moyes. I really think he is capable of great things, Even if we have a rocky start we need to back him to the hilt. However that said, I understand You could argue that Giggs was there just as a bit of experience on the field but I thought he was one of our weaker players. Some good moments but a few wayward passes you can tell he is getting on lost that slit second on the ball. Was impressed with Carrick, I do think he deserved MoM he controlled the play so well and great passes. Zaha just needs to know when enough is enough though I think he will blossom into something incredible, but let's not heap too much pressure on him too early. I have lost the Love I had at the start of last season for Cleverly, Maybe too much expectation on such a young head. Jones I think will have a cracking season, RVP Nuff said, Welbeck. I don't get it personally, there is a lot of leg work there but maybe he just needs to find that lost confidence. But he Does worry me. I do honestly Hope we keep Rooney I do think Media / Agent have made a mountain out of a mole hill. Would have been nice to get the young guns into the fray earlier in the game however I guess Moyes was a little eager not to lose the lead.

What a clown you are first poster.Really can't understand why the Cleverley haters. He is gong to be a top top player. Most on here are completely clueless.People talk about Cabaye, he is no better than we have already.I'm all for new players and we need a couple at least but they have to be better than we already have. Can't help but think that most people on here haven't seen a Utd team that hasn't challenged ie pre Fergie. Get a grip.

Same old, same old i'm afraid. this lot won't make top 4 this season

The poll has shown just how negative people that use this site actually are.

It was a professional performance and we did exactly what we needed to do to win the game, the same we've been doing for years. Not extravagant, but moments of great football and overall a solid win.

Yes we need new signings, but in no way was that obvious today.

Fantastic ball possession, won it in a professional manner rather than going all out causing any potentially dangerous injuries. Looked solid at the back.

I for one am pleased, Wigan are a much better team than people give them credit for yes they're in the Championship but half those players that played against us were the ones that got Wigan to the final of the FA cup and won it beating the second best team in the league who fielded a very strong team so, be realistic!

Thought we were awesome.
De gea had very little to do because the defence had the Wigan forwards in their pocket.I thought it was brilliant how Cleverley kept our defence awake with some of those pass backs shades of Ray wilkins there.Giggs looks like he has gained a yard and could be our Gareth Bale this year. How welbeck never scored is beyond me such vision and his first touch is awesome.I think Valencia changing his number is a master stroke and could be a title winning decision.I think its a great move by Moyes and Woodward not buying anyone why should we give our opponents any money to boost their transfer funds, very wise.So book your hotels now boys for the European cup final next year I see a treble coming this year.

Yes Moyes first trophy.

The game was excrutiating to watch - slow, ponderous and predictable. Our defence and shape without the ball going backwards was awful. If it were a better side than Wigan we would've been beaten comprehensively.

We need a new CB, DCM, ACM, Winger and striker. Garay, Fellani, Modric, for a a start and wingers and strikers well Bale/Ronanldo is dream land - All out for Lewandoski IMO.

Wozmondo. with a name like that I would suggest that you are not 60 yrs plus and therefore never saw the great Duncan Edwards play. you can't say Phil Jones in the same breath as big Dunc.

Eds or anyone with knowledge of ligue 1, just trying to find out if any clubs inc. us are interested in gonalons of Lyon, I've only seen him play 4-5 times and from what I've seen he looks a tremendous player, could be a cheaper and better alternative to fellaini. Just a thought, thanks in advance {Ed044's Note - From Ed002 on another page: On a number of occasions Frederic Guerra has said that Gonalons would only leave Lyon for Real or Napoli. He has taken over as captain but Arsenal and Monaco have been pressing for a deal for this summer.}
