I'm probably the only one who would rather have Lewandowski than Falcao. Younger, cheaper, previous play game time with Kagawa, IMO has just as much potential as Falcao and can play as wide wide forward as well as a number 9. Would anybody else rather have Lewy?

Pretty much everyone mate.

Agree3 Disagree0

He can't play as a wide wide forward at all, he's been used as a central striker only at dortmund but in your defence for his height and stature he's very good at link up play and is quite fast, but his best role is actually a target man.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately, I have been extensively looking at this for 2yrs and have recently discovered that he is nearer to Bayern than us. The German press and general football media are very reliable. Such a shame, I'd have loved him at united. £15m is a bargain, he is going to be a beast. I hope I'm wrong

Agree1 Disagree1

Yes. Falcao is a lot better than Lewandowski in pretty much every aspect of his game other than aerial ability, that is a fact.

Agree0 Disagree2

Well yes I'd rather have him, but honestly I'd rather have a quality midfielder or two than a prominent striker.

Agree4 Disagree0

We don't need strikers, unless we are going to sell some. Atm we are desperate for ball retention in midfield and more of a cutting edge in chance creation. RVP has had little to no service recently this needs to change.

Agree1 Disagree0

Lewandowski would shine at United. Buying Falcao will be a mistake, over 40 million to make little change to our attack?

Would rather have Lewy and a Midfielder.

Agree4 Disagree0

Ruud 100% agree. We are already the league top scorers and adding 2 world class mid field players will both increase that scoring and our overall control of the games. If you want youth Strootman + Alcantara ( my personal choices ) but proven Arturo Vidal ( good luck getting him from Juve) and Ronaldo ( I can dream surely ).

Grund

Agree1 Disagree0

Jane is spot on. Lewy and top class midfielder would be better use of same cash but if money were no object Falcao would be a must buy. Wherever he goes he will strengthen their attack massively. Would hate to see him at Citeh or Chelski for sure.

The fact we've been linked with strikers repeatedly means our forward line will change in 1314. I still think Rooney is on his way personally but the change could equally as plausibly be Hernandez moving to get regular first team football in a decent side.

H

Agree1 Disagree0

I hope to God, Rooney is getting moved on - 250k & can't find a pass within 5/10 yards - his link up play is appalling! If he's in the world class category i'm digging my boots out!

Agree1 Disagree1

If money were no object i'd rather see Ronaldo or Bale than Falcao along with two cm's. We haven't bought a proper cm since Hargreaves
DHK

Agree1 Disagree0

I think the reason SAF is not buying a cm is because he wants Rooney to move back into central midfield. A good move IMO, Scholes had exactly the same career path.
In that case we will buy a number 9 and get RVP to move back to 10 or a wide forward. Lewy can play very well as a wide forward, he doesn't though simply because they have Reus, he would be great as a wide forward.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Dan, sorry for being a negative Norman, but Rooney could never orchestrate play how Scholesy could. Never. And I don't mean to lambast Wayne, but I think his performances have been nothing short of woeful. Bring back the snarling ball of aggression who would chase and harry, score wonder goals and would wear his heart on his sleeve. Not this ineffective passenger. A rejuvanated Rooney is worth his weight in gold yet, I think, his appetite has subsided.

Agree1 Disagree0

Noname, I don't think anybody bar Xavi and Pirlo can do what Scholes can do, it would be unfair to expect that of him. But, he has the awareness and passing range to be a very good CM, as good as most on the market. He has been poor this season no doubt, I think RVP arriving has stolen some of his thunder, his reaction next season (presuming he will still be here) will be key to his future. This has been on the cards for a while, I think its the reason SAF hasn't brought in another midfielder.

Dan

Agree1 Disagree0

Dan, you make a fair point & I admire your optimism - & Rooney got MotM too, yet I get the impression he, himself needs a new challenge. His distance passing is top drawer, it's the short, sharp passing that let's him down. If there is a shortfall in the market, it shouldn't be to the detriment of Rooneys game.
If RvP has stolen his mojo, then Jeez, meet the challenge head on. Don't want to see Rooney leave, I want him to come back!

Agree0 Disagree0

Noname, I do admit Rooney may move on, for whatever reason he seems to lack motivatio. But, I think he would make a top CM, perhaps not as good as Scholes or Xavi but I think he could get very close to that. Carick is an ideal partner for him as well. Given a year or 2 I think they could match any midfield partnership out there other than Xavi/Iniesta. Hopefully Rooney stays.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree1

Forgot to add. Rooney is losing his pace rapidly, he's not technically fluid enough to be an AM. A lot of people see his assist rate and think he would make a good AM but this is just false. He needs to be a number 9 or a CM IMO and with RVP here now then I think he has to be a CM. I also think that was SAFs thought at the beginning of the season with Rooney starting most matches in CM, but, for whatever reason he went to playing as a striker again.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree1

Rooney may make a good CM at a lower table team but not at a team that wants to challenge in the CL.

We don't need a striker for 50 Million. We need midfielders who can hold the ball, create for the strikers, be a threat to defenses and chip in with some goals. We need to replace Scholes, Giggs, Nani, Young now. We also need to CM who can break up opponent attacking plays.

This summer we need to improve the midfield.

Agree1 Disagree0

We don't need strikers, unless we sell Chico and Danny plays out wide. We need two top midfielders, a ball winning athletic sort - Wanyama would be my choice. We also need some pace and guile -Gotze or Ericsen would be my choice there.

Ed do you still think Lewandowski will come here? Bookies have him massive favorites to sign for Bayern and lots of new reports saying Bayern are ready to sign him. {Ed002's Note - See previous answers please.}

According to Marca, Manchester
United and Atletico de Madrid are
already negotiating for Radamel
Falcao's new contract in England.
The Red Devils would pay around
55M and would have already paid
a percentage. Ed is true {Ed002's Note - See previous answers please.}

Dont think united are going to spend that much on a player of his age and unproven in the english game

Hi, Ed002. Watching Gillette Soccer Saturday this morning and they believe if Bale is going anywhere today, its Manchester United. Any further insight or opinions on this, or whether we're in the running would be appreciated.

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I know of interest from two clubs - neither of which is Manchester United.}

Believable7 Unbelievable12

The two clubs are Real Madrid and. ? {Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Bale will leave if Spurs don't get champions league. its looking like it will go right down to the wire between them, Arsenal and Chelsea. I really really really hope they don't get top 4 and we go in for him. He is tried and tested in the premier league, but going to Spain or Germany is a whole different ball game, we saw Owen, and Beckham to a lesser extent. I think we would be the perfect fit for him and I hope that fergie really tries to get him.

Imagine him with RVP, Rooney and Kagawa as a front 4. would be frightening.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get it outta ya head, never coming united I'm afraid. Levy is too greedy regarding united

Agree0 Disagree0

He doesn't want to play for united

Agree1 Disagree0

I'd be delighted for United to get Bale but can't see it happening unfortunately.

Interestingly though I had heard a rumour that Bale's advisors (or people close to him) are of the opinion that it's a bit too early in his career to move abroad. Whether that means he should stay at Spurs or move to a bigger English club I'm not sure. It may all be rubbish anyway, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

'He doesn't want to play for united' lol how would you know, are you his Mum?

Agree0 Disagree1

No, just a neighbour!

Probably putting 2 and 2 together and making 5 but ed 002 you suggested athletico are interested in Hernandez as a falcao replacement, well if the rumours are true that we want falcao, do you think this may give us an advantage in signing him as we'd be giving them one of their main targets along with a lot of money?

Caoln {Ed002's Note - It would make no difference - sorry.}

Great another average winger who will struggle to get a game.

Agree0 Disagree5

Winger? Must be a different james mccarthy

Agree2 Disagree0

I think you'll find he's a young half decent central midfielder, joeyored

Agree1 Disagree0

Grund: please before slating a potential signing of a great young talent who has bossed games in a very average wigan side at such a young age is very impressive and plus he plays cm/cdm deep lying playmaker an allrounder really

Agree0 Disagree1

Sorry about the winger bit I do know he is a mid and he is decent, where I disagree is we don't need decent and 22 ain't so young. Strootman is class and 23 see the difference?

Agree1 Disagree0

But is he an improvement on Tom Cleverley? Not really, we need someone a little bit more special I think.

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

Well that's another world class misfit! God help us if this happens.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we do sign him I have been a big fan of him ever since I saw him play at hamilton he would be a great signing for us

THE HEMMINATOR

Agree0 Disagree0

Very disappointed if he does, we don't need more squad players.

Agree1 Disagree0

Christ even the Ed who had some sort of man love going on for him hasn't mentioned him in ages

Agree0 Disagree0

Where's Bond?
His wet dream might be coming true
:D {Ed007's Note - Good things come to he who waits Jonny ;-) I was actually banned from speaking about him Pardoe.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Grund: difference is though mccarthy has performed well in the premier league and is proven. strootman has obviously not proved himself in the premier league so a bit more of a gamble. he plays similar to carrick so will be in his prime around 26-31 so at 22 he's still raw (re mccarthy)
