Exciting news story on Christian Eriksen, fingers crossed boys!

The "Daily Star" not trust worthy. Don't believe everything you read in the paper or half the people on this site, the best way to find out what's going to happen is to just wait and see

Bit ironic you are on a rumor site then {Ed007's Note - Is The Guardian any more trustworthy to the above poster? Like you say mate, it is a rumours site.

Players linked with United in january are:

Danzell Gravenberch - Ajax - Striker
Alejandro Pozuelo - Real Betis - Striker
Andreas Pereira - PSV - Midfielder
Jordi Alba - Valencia - Defender/Winger
Mehdi Benatia - Udinese - Defender
Richmond Boakye - Genoa - Striker
Kwadwo Asamoah - Udinese - Midfielder

Jordi Alba is the only one I've heard of. Don't know anything about the others. This is a collection of players that have been linked with us this week through the media.

Believable7 Unbelievable24

Cant help with most of them but i do know the bottom 2. boakye is a very young but very gd prospect. wouldnt expect utd to go in for him yet but if he can break into the genoa side after his loan then maybe. asamoah is a very gd box to box midfielder. great engine and while not the most technical player he is a physical player who could work well with someone like cleverley.

I think we should seriously go for Christian Eriksen. This 19 year old midfielder is a VERY good footballer. He reminds me of Ronaldo, when we first saw him. Hope SAF does not sleep on this!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7q9Z8fx_Xs

Early'b {Ed004's Note - He doesn't play in the same position as Ronaldo or the same style}

Believable11 Unbelievable11

Haha nothing really like ronnie ;)

Does remind me out a young Wesley Sneijder though

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

He would undoubtedly improve us which surely our ultimate ambition.

Pip

Agree0 Disagree0

To Edoo4, he does not play in the same position as Ronaldo but what i mean is he's a positive flared two footed attacking player, what we've missed since Ron left us. He would only get better once with us. Whats your thoughts? Do you rate him? Do we have a chance of getting him? {Ed004's Note - I rate him highly but I think he will be going to Spain}

The guy clearly doesnt wana come to united. He identified barcelona as his dream. Shame though... looks very promising.
mick

Agree0 Disagree0

Mick, having said that alexis sanchez was quoted as saying his dream was to play for united, but he joined barca. Hopefully it'll be the other way round for Eriksen ;)

But seriously though, they chat a lot of tosh! I don't see why barca would spend a hefty sum on a midfielder, they have the strongest midfield in the world. I reckon there next move in the market will be for a defensive player, dreading it's going to be Jordi Alba :'(

Ozwald

Don't think he'll come in jan. EURO tied isn't he?

so in one of todays papers it says that the italian big three all want to sign nani. No fee mentioned. So here's the questions. Would you sell him? If you would how much would you ask for him? And who would you replace him with?

Myself i'm undecided but i would want to start bidding at thirty million.

Rincewind

Believable10 Unbelievable16

Apparently it's £30 million. If this is true I would carry him on my back to Italy for that much. I'd replace him with kagawa. Him and Valencia are good enough to take over from nani.

Big Mac

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take 30m for him. Excellent exciting player but far too inconsistent. We have plenty of cover in the wide positions (giggs, park, young, tony v, wellbz, diouf, macheda can all play there) and it seems unless Nani is on the right he is largely unaffective...

In a perfect world I'd love to keep hold of him but if selling him facilitates the purchase of a top class CM then for the benefit of the club I think the offer would be too good to pass up on.

Mega Amazing Man

Agree0 Disagree0

Id take that without giving it a thought and throw in anderson combined fee of 30 m and 50 english pence

Agree0 Disagree0

I would want 30-35 million for him which I would then put to getting Gotze. I would envisage him costing 40 million and if we could get him and promote Pogba or turn Jones into a dm then our midfield would be great. Gotze could also play on the wings.

Welsh Dragon

Agree0 Disagree0

Kagawa has been terrible this season. I certainly wouldnt want to sign him until he has proved last season wasnt a one off and as for getting rid of Nani....be careful what you wish for guys. Selling Nani is one thing but what happens when we need that little bit of something different to unlock a tight game? Valencia and Park aint it.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are you all up for selling Nani? Should we really be selling one of our top performers? IMO we only have Rooney and Nani who can change a game on it's head, so to speak, to give that spark of creativity that unlocks opposition defences. I like Valencia but he is lacking the cutting edge he had when he first joined. He keeps checking inside or passing backwards instead of hitting the byline

Without Nani, if Rooney is ever unfit then we will struggle to brush teams aside

Keep Nani, sell Carrick, Gibson and Rio to raise funds for a quality CM, thats the way forward IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

If fergy isn't going to play nani in the big games he should sell him and buy someone he is going to play
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Selling Nani would be a backward step. The only way it wouldn't be is if we had Hazard, Di Maria or Oezil already signed and sealed. Valencia & Young do not have that ability to win a game on their own, Nani does.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Since when does Nani not play in the big games? He has played against Arsenal, City and Chelsea so far this season. The only "big" team he didnt play against was Barca in last seasons final and that was purely because Valencia was fresher. Nani and Rooney are our 2 big game players.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Ultimately I'm don't think we can sign a better player than Nani. I'll say it again why is everyone so keen to get rid of our most productive player? He doesn't have a bad attitude? He isn't on excessive wages? He isn't any less consistent than any of our other wide players? It makes no sense to sell a player who has pushed himself into becoming one of the best wingers in the world during the last two years and is now entering the prime of his career just because we could get 30m, are we now a selling club?

Danny Pughnited

Agree0 Disagree0

'TK-Red'

Kagawa was fantastic last season for club and country, i've watched him play a lot because i think he's fantastic, i watch japan to see him play (also to see keisuke honda) and i sometimes watch borussia dortmund purely to see kagawa and see how goetze are getting on. I honestly think Kagawa is great, reminds me of Ji sung a bit not because he's asian but because he is such a fast thinker and quick to react to everything as well as having a great work rate. I believe the reason he's not being as spectacular this year is because he broke his metatarsal in his foot, and after an injury like that it can take a while to find form again, for example it happened with Rooney if you remember!

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Gush! Sell nani no guyz am not a part to that we can sell carrick, andasom, Pepatov, Gipsom and john evans not nani

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh yeah but at the same time, i don't think i'd sell nani. Give him one more season to measure the rate of his progress because he has been quite inconsistent, but this season looks to be the one where he could assert himself as a true top class footballer. With him being nominated for the ballon d'or it could give him a great boost of motivation and confidence.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

If Nani was to leave then I'd have to go for Hazard as his replacement. I don't think Nani will be sold this season though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely this is just "paper talk" once again ? I certainly would not sell him - how many assists and important goals does he get ? He is one of two "match changers" that we have - at present. I have high hopes for clev . . .we will see. Pogba , Morrison . . .? Giggs - forget. If we sold Nani who is available to replace ? No, at pres keep him ! Where does the figure £30 M come from Rincewind ?
Cosh

Agree0 Disagree0

Ahah so Andy Carroll is £35million but Nani is only worth £30 and you lot would see him off for that much?. He would take a minimum fee of £45million in todays market based on his stats and season to season consistency over the last 3 years......£30million is a joke of a figure

Agree0 Disagree0

TK
He only started 1 of the european 1/4 games 1 of the semi final games and was dropped for the final last year also didnt play in the final the year before compare this to van der sar rooney vidic and you will see that fergy plays what he considers his most important players.
I would play nani his a match winner but if we were to play munich barce madrid etc.. i would expect fergy to drop him again so my point is if you are going to play barce whats the point of having a 30 mill player on the bench.
remember if vidic is fit he plays same goes for rooney that cant be said about nani
maybe and its only for arguments sake fergy would be better of spending 30 mill on a player he feels can win us the euro cup, and nani cant do that on the bench
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

'jred'

Nani is probably our second best player, if he is left out of a game it's due to his lack of defensive qualities, not his lack of attacking ability. He is not left out because he isn't good enough.

The fact remains that there is no better winger out there who is better than Nani and who is available to buy. So why would we sell? If we sell Nani, we will be a weaker team.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

'jred'

Nani would play against Real Madrid and against Bayern. In fact he did play against Bayern in May 2010. I also believe he would play against Barcelona this time round. He was immense against them during preseason and SAF was very impressed with his performance. The defenders struggled to cope with him and the best way to beat Barcelona is to attack them. Pack the midfield and attack them on the break.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Valencia has looked poor this season! He has never been in Nani's league, he's a straight put it to one side and sprint man, whose left leg is for standing on only. Good squad member though. Park is a good hustler and also a good squad member, but hardly bristles with creativity. Cleverley is better in the middle, plus he doesn't have the raw pace to be a good wide man. I'd sell Diouf,Machada, Gibson,Kuzcacak, add another £25m - £35m and buy Ganso and Tiote, that's presuming we could get £12m -£15m or so on the above motley crew. Nani is a brilliant winger and like many other brilliant wingers is inconsistent. Even the magnificent Georgie Best had ineffective days. Along side Rooney he is by far our most impressive offensive player. I'd sell Chico before Nani, he's wicked in the box, but ordinary anywhere else on the pitch. Wellbeck is a far better prospect.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

If we were to sell Nani, who could you replace him with? Nobody realistically.

RedDevil92

Agree0 Disagree0

'Mik'

Hernandez wasn't bought to play anywhere else on the field. He is a fox in the box. Welbeck is far more versatile, but Hernandez is the best player in the world at doing what he does. We shouldn't be comparing, just being happy that we have both of them.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney if it came down to it and you had to sell either valencia or nani who would it be? tom17

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
if you read my post you will see that i said i would play nani.
would he play against madrid barc etc lets be honest we both dont know however the facts are in the last 2 champions league finals he has been dropped and yes for tactical reasons.
but my point is and i think your missing it and again this is just for arguments sake but if fergy was to sell nani and buy a player he feels could give us both attacking and defensive qualitys so he could play in champion league finals then maybe its not a bad idea.
who would that player be di marie gaitian , i dont know thats up to fergy.

but i will say it again if you are playing barce in the champions league final whats the point of having your second best player on the bench because you dont feel he is defensively good enough
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

Because we would play Barcelona a maximum of twice a season, just because Nani may sit out of one tie is that reason to sell him? What about when he is playing in the other 98% of games?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

'tom17'

I would sell Valencia to keep Nani.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
at no point have i said sell him but if fergy was to sell him and buy someone he thought was better suited i would be ok with that 2.
for example would you off been devastated if we had off bought sanchez and sold nani in the summer.
but its got of the point the original questions were
1 would you sell him? i'm not sure depends who we replaced him with
2how much? start at 30 mill
3 who would you replace him with? im really not sure bale di maria pedro who knows
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

'jred'

I do not believe Sanchez is an improvement on Nani, certainly not defensively. Pedro is more of a forward than a winger. And again I would prefer Nani. Bale is not even in the same league as Nani offensively, but defensively would be better. Di Maria is a decent player, but a) isn't available b) not an improvement offensively or defensively.

People do not understand how good Nani actually is, if he was a Barcelona player playing in Pedro's position, he would be devastating. He would tear-up La Liga or Serie A. If people have forgotten how good Nani is then perhaps they should by last season's DVD and watch him carry our team from September to February single handedly whilst Park & Valencia were injured and Rooney was playing sh1t.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Also, take a look at the goal he scored against Chelsea this season!

Gar

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
i think nani would be amazing for barce , but we dont play like barce and if you look at my above post i said " if fergy was to sell him and buy someone better SUITED"

you say people do not understand how good nani is but tell me do you think united really did have an intreast in sanchez and if we had got him would nani of maybe left ,was it ed 002 who said nani was available in the summer, if that is the case is fergy one of them people who dont understand how good he is.
one last thing did nani really carry our team from september to february single handedly cos i thought berb also done well during that time
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

People are saying sell Nani get hazard but why?? Do you honestly believe Hazard (who wants a spanish team) is better then Nani? I don't, keep Nani he is only gonna get better and improve his game.... HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

On his day nani is world class ,but i think he,s very inconsistant and his decision making and final ball are very poor which winds rooney up,some games this season he,s gone missing on the pitch and done very little.
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

'jred'

Nani wanted a pay rise and was doing a lot of sulking when he was told no. United would have had to plan for life without him and would have listened to offers just in case they couldn't convince him to stay, but in the end Nani was adamant that he wanted to stay.

Nani was our best player last season even though he struggled from March onwards, can only imagine what his stats would have been like if he played well til the end of the season.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

'John'

People act like this is a new phenomenon, like Giggs or Beckham never had games where they done very little in, or games where they were inconsistent. It's amazing how people have forgotten how Ronaldo used to go missing on occasions. Yes Nani can be frustrating, but name me a player that would be more consistent than Nani who is available to buy and wants to join us?

Nani is a top player and is on pretty low wages, he is yet to enter his prime years and he is a well liked character around OT. If we had to sell him there would have to be a good explanation for doing so. Only him wanting to leave would be acceptable to me.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow lot of response.

Yes it is just paper talk at the moment and i don't think Fergie would sell him, but then you can never second guess Fergie.

As for the 30 million fee, think it was somewhere on the internet. I also think itwould have to be the starting figure and try and push it up to 40-45 million, if we were to sell, and i cannot see the Glazers turning down 45 million, although the final say would go to Fergie.

Possible replacements, well that would potentially take most of the fee wouldn't it to get someone like Goetze or Hazard.

Myself i wouldn't sell him as he is one of our best players and really one of the main creative outlets.

I do think Park will go in the summer, and I think Valencia is being assessed to see how he comes back from injury.

Rincewind

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
have a look at my post's i like nani i wouldn't sell him.
but and i dont know this i just think if a 30 mill offer had come in in the summer or this jan fergy would/will sell him, hopefully not.
also if fergy was to do this and replace him with someone he felt could do better then fair enough.
if he was sold just for the money then no it would def weaken the team.
but again i think we are getting away from rincewind first post and the 3 questions he asked and that nobody has fully answered
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

I just love how the player with the most assists in the league last year, and our top assister again this year has a poor final ball. It makes you wonder how bad every other player in the squad's final ball must be.

Danny Pughnited

Agree0 Disagree0

'jred'

I know mate, I know you are talking about what if SAF sold him, as oppose to what you want to happen, I know you want him to stay.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Imo just won't consider selling him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well jred it appears that the answers are: No, 30-40 million+, and there isn't a replacement.

Rincewind

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani is inconsistent, out of 4 games we get one very good one, one decent to good and 2 poor. That is not improving and maybe, just maybe SAF is not prepared to accept that going forward. In key games he has to trust the players to deliver.
Add to this we have three right footed wide midfield players, but no left footed one. If we are interested in Gaitan (he is left footed I believe) then it likely indicates SAF is looking to balance the team and to find the finance would likely need to sell. That would probably mean one of the three right footed wide midfield players.

We shall see whether Nani moves on but he remains too inconsistent at the moment. Would I sell , well as long as there was someone left footed more consistent and available then I would snatch their hands off at anything over £30M.

Red Man

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozwald

I think thats my point on Kagawa, I would like to see him fully recover and concentrate on getting his form back before we even contemplate making a move for him. Plus he may be a hard worker but we need someone with a touch more creativity IMO.

jred

You're right Nani did miss some of the quarters and semis but my point remains the same. He had carried us for the majority of the season up to that point, was basically knackered and then Valencia returned to full fitness. I believe that is why Nani didnt play and not because of any sort of inconsistency.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

'Red Man'

We already know that Nani is equally good with both feet, whether it's natural or not he is still very good with his left foot. You cannot score 35 yard shots with your left foot if you cannot use your left foot. He is both footed my friend. Plus SAF has already said he purposely bought Young to play left-wing. So I think the Gaitan rumours are circulating because many believe it's Giggs' final year at the club. Gaitan doesn't seem to make sense, he cannot defend and he is not as good as Nani attacking wise, he is also near on the same age and would cost a similar amount to what Nani would raise in a sale, it just doesn't make sense IMO. I also believe you are being harsh, Nani is never playing poor, he is just not playing as well as he usually does.

There are many players that would go before Nani, I believe Gibson, Kuszczak, Anderson, Evra, Carrick, Park, Diouf, Berbatov & Macheda will all go before Nani does.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney

Nani is also inconsistent with both feet. I have to disagree on your assertion that Nani doesnt have poor games, you must be watching him through very tinted spectacles. He doesnt contribute in some games and some of those games are key ones. That needs to improve or SAF will move him on. The thing is we have been saying he needs to improve his consistency for some time, at what point does SAF pull the plug.

Red Man

Agree0 Disagree0

'Red Man'

He had the best stats in the EPL for goals and assists. Wilshere had the worst, yet is Wilshere described as inconsistent? Nani is consistent, but people expect him to be great every game. No player is great in every game. Nani will finish the season with more goals and assists than David Silva, yet you and one or two others will call Nani inconsistent.

I am off to bed now, I am shattered, but I will answer your reply in the morning mate.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

'TK-Red'

Believe me kagawa is definitely creative, i've watched him play illegally online lol probably about 20+ times and he's definitely not one to lack creativity. He has a lot of potential from what i've seen of him, if you consider he's 22 and what he achieved in his first season in the german league. But i do agree with you, it would be wise to wait a while and see how he gets on after being fully recovered from his nasty injury.

Also whoever said Valencia has been poor this season, you've got to remember he f**ked up his angle pretty bad, and SAF said himself that he just needs more games. It would be stupid to get rid of him, his physical attributes are great! He's also great defensively and can stand in at RB and do a pretty good job. There aren't many wingers in the world similar to him.
