16million could've got you Alan mcgregor but instead you got de gea , haha what a waste of money

Believable6 Unbelievable32

Waste of money want are you talking about alan mcgregor is not a good keeper

Agree0 Disagree0

At least we didn't waste more more money on the amazing Jordan Henderson.

Agree0 Disagree0

Alan mcgregor is one of the best keepers in britian mate , his shot stopping is second to none

Agree0 Disagree0

Y pay that for alan mcgregor wen we cud ov had stekelenburg for £5 million. but i think de gea will become a top quality keeper. Keep the faith

Agree0 Disagree0

16 million could have got the whole rangers team not just Mcgregor haha

Agree0 Disagree0

£16M for Alan Mcnumpty and you talk about wasting money Take your head out of your a**e.

Agree0 Disagree0

Alan Mcgregor is an ordinary, run of the mill keeper. He is worth around £6 -£8m. He is used to playing in a poor league. Whenever the less than impressive "Gers", play against good teams in Europe they lose. De Gea will become a world's number 1.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

If he played with an English club people would see

Agree0 Disagree0

Just a response to the 'his shot stopping is second to none' quote:
Being a great goalkeeper is about so much more than shot stopping. It's aerial ability, decision making, commanding your area etc. David James is, well was, a world class shot stopper but i wouldn't have had him anywhere near Old Trafford.

Wesley Sneijder will join utd this week for a fee £33.7m has agreed on wage 200k over 4 yrs with option of 5th and will sign before utd play Tottenham game.
Deal has had 2 major problems one Inter want more than £19m up front and Sneijder wants 220k a week and would not budge until now deal should be done next few days.
My source have two to this story is Guillem Balague who knows alot about transfers and best one is Magali Gorre good friend Sneijder's mother and has a boy plays for utd U18 academy check it out if don't believe me.

Believable14 Unbelievable15

I agree to some point but i doubt your sources.
You are just reiterating what was said last week. Just inder a different guise.
Simon

Agree0 Disagree0

So you decided to write something and quoted that you know someone who's second cousin's best friend's budgie once walked on a pavement crack that a Utd under 18 team member had walked on If you knew anything about Utd, you would know that no-one except 2 or 3 people know anything about transfers. They keep it top top secret. Go post your rubbish somewhere else.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can confirm this is the information i have received on the Sneijder deal. I dispute the fact Magili Gorre is privy to the inside of this deal. I talk to her on twitter and she is not a "source" of inside information.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont see this happening at all.. sneijder wont join man utd this summer

If the goetze rumours are true then I believe we should also invest in an experienced holding midfielder as out midfield two seem two inexperienced.

Why the doom and gloom. We won, Chelsea drew, Arsenal drew, and Liverpool drew. We had no Hernandez and we had Rafael or Evra. But we won, that's the main concern. Gilly

Believable12 Unbelievable5

No its not.
It highlighted are weaknesses. To all the other teams.
Get amongst the kids rough the Young Keeper.
they will wobble.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look it wasnt real madrid or barca we played today,it was little west brom and we made serious hard work of iti think the main cincern and doom and gloom is the fact that,we kno, fergie knows,we were ment strengthin in midfield ,and we havnt done dat when its blatentlly obivous we doand i probly speak for alot of utd fans when i say we will not b good enough for the premiership and champions lge for sure with that midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

You were probably one of the negative ones that said exactly the same last year when we did win and made it to the final. You ashould have learnt by now t have faith. The only reason we may not win the league this year as that it takes a while for De Gea to settle. And our midfield with the option of cleverley is already better than last year. There wil be another signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Quite obvious the efforts of sunday will not see the trophy return come May. The season is still young, but improvements will be needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2011 21:55:02
I have just watched 1st half of real and barca 2 1 barca what a cracking game utd don't stand a chance of winning the champions league if we meet either team unless we strengthen our midfield dramatically they are both quicker sharper more creative stronger and most if all composed on the ball I'm sorry who does fergie think he's kidding our squad is strong enough no chance

Believable17 Unbelievable12

I have to fully agree with you pal, iniesta, xavi, alonso, ozil and we have the child tom cleverly, pogba, come on Sir Alex give us a f***in break will ya?strenghten the midfield for f***s sake

Agree0 Disagree0

Real fans eh?

Don't even sign off. Are you Liverpool fans?

Both good teams but lets wait and see before you judge the young lads.

Ajp

Agree0 Disagree0

There not ready mate.
Not one cross field pass in fact i think only vidic did that today.
Cleverley and anderson dont seem to have that range. or to get the ball face goal and ping out the passes.
making the link from Attack from mid.
too often young was used on the Left.
Perhaps Young into the Attacking mid role with Valencia or right nani on Left?
Still would need a strong holding mid.

Agree0 Disagree0

I kind of agree, remember today we were playing WBA they nearly got relegated last season..

Agree0 Disagree0

I was impressed with the cross field passing, must have been watching another match. I was pleasantly surprised with how we did considering that Roy Hodgson's teams are traditionally rough and very well organised; Cleverly and Anderson were good, it was Nani that was simply not good enough. I cannot believe how outrageously wasteful he is.

Jack

Agree0 Disagree0

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and understand your point of view.

But la liga and their stars aren't all that think about it:
Mascherano
Pique
Xabi Alonso
Carvalho
Rossi
Kanoute
Arbelo (sp)

Where far from elite players in the epl.

Fair enough messi, robaldo, villa and ozil are genuine stars but don't believe the hype.

Ajp

Agree0 Disagree0

"I kind of agree, remember today we were playing WBA they nearly got relegated last season.."

Since when was finishing 11th nearly getting relegated?

CJ

Agree0 Disagree0

It was quite some match. I share your sentiments. They do have quality all over the pitch. Their passing game is just magnificent.

Agree0 Disagree0

They're both very good, probably better than United, possibly not. But no matter how good they are, they will never have the same class as United, and United will come back stronger every year until they're on top again.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, wonderful passing, great skill but most importantly a minute on the ball before someone challenges you.

all these fans that are slatting de gea
first of all hes only 20
2nd hes in a a new league
and second when did you all start to think you all know more about football than fergie one of the best managers ever if not the best

getting to the point all im sayin is give the kid a chance he WILL prove you all wrongTHE DON

Believable19 Unbelievable6

Everyone makes mistakes and everyone has there own views.
Get out of his bum pal.

Agree0 Disagree0

I completely agree, give the lad a chance. His played to games in a much more physical league and will need the chance to adjust, further let not forget that playing for such a big club brings its own pressure that might take some adjusting to. Finally on top of all that he has moved to a new country at a very young age and that will also take some adjusting too Mark my word he will be great signing for us, especially with Fergie's guidance

Mario Goetze Dreams of man utd March 2011....is this guy coming to manutd ? apparently utd started negotiations last week its all over internet Quotes from men media

Who would not dream of playing with a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United??¢‚Ǩ¬ù he was quoted as saying in an article in The Manchester Evening News.

?¢‚Ǩ?ìHowever, I have a contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2014.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù

can I just say de gea is 20 he is going to make mistakes but fergie has had 2 years to scout a keeper and chose this guy, he must have some ability give the kid a break only people who want united to lose a criticizing a keeper after 2 games.

Believable21 Unbelievable1

14 Aug 2011 19:41:44
No doubt the fickle fans will now jump right on De Gea's back for what was, admittedly, a bad mistake. But, what goalkeepers don't make mistakes? People are expecting too much of De Gea too quickly. He will be the best in the world, but not yet. The lad is 20 years old and has just moved to a new country where he doesn't yet know the language and it is a completely different culture. Remember Peter Schmeichel against Wimbledon all those years ago. He turned out alright didn't he?

G.A.G.U.S

Believable34 Unbelievable1

Even Van Der Sar made mistakes 1 v West Brom 1 v Liverpool and 2 v Barcelona ( in the CL final )

Agree0 Disagree0

Gagus we dont need u to repeat the commentators lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Repeat the commentators? I don't quite understand what you mean by that.

G.A.G.U.S

Agree0 Disagree0

Neuer wasn't too clever against us in the 2nd leg for Schalke either, he made a huge blunder for Bayern last week too. We all know De Gea is capable of saving these shots, so it's confidence that is an issue, nothing else.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Quite correct sydney and when he start playing to his full pottential lets see how many will admit to wanting him out so soon into his united career at least give him time to prove us right or wrong before we execute him
onecut

Agree0 Disagree0

"Remember Peter Schmeichel against Wimbledon all those years ago. He turned out alright didn't he?"

Quote direct from todays game. Sky sports commentators.

Agree0 Disagree0

It wouldn't be so bad if the errors DeGea were making were down to excellent play by the other teams but they are simple basic errors. He seems to react very late to situations.

I don't blame DeGea. I blame Ferguson for not signing the best keeper available- Stekelenburg.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Stekelenburg is a top class keeper. If he was really the best available, then why has he spent his entire career at Ajax, and only made a small step up to Roma. Why were bigger teams who need a good goalkeeper, like AC Milan, Tottenham and Arsenal, not interested in him, especially at
£5.5million?

G.A.G.U.S

Agree0 Disagree0

Stekelenburg is okay, nothing special, just as good as people like Gomes or Mignolet

=v1=

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone slating de Gea needs to think about it before opening their mouths. I'm not usually a La Liga fan but i watched quite a few games last year and de Gea was the best keeper I saw in their league by a mile. Even better than Casillas (who in my opinion is extremely dodgy but people seem to think he is amazing?). Against Real, de Gea was spectactular. Yes he is young and probably will make the odd mistake, tell me a great 'keeper who hasn't. Give him until the end of the season and you will see his class.

Smalling and jones more than capable.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2011 19:05:56
Hearing that Ferdinand is
out for six weeks , Rafael for ten weeks and Vidic a possible long term injury. I dobelieve what really need is a holding midfielder in front of a possble partnership of Smalling / Jones / Evans ... We have enough creativity in Cleverly and Anderson.

Believable15 Unbelievable11

Vidic is apparently 1-2 weeks, i wouldn't be surprised to see him against spurs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry mate you do not buy another player because someone is out for 3 or 4 games thats what we have a great squad for
ARB

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I think that we need a defensive mid anyway ... Carrick aint gonna be capable of doin it

Agree0 Disagree0

The truth is we have a great squad, except for midfield We need a defensive ball winner and a genuine creative midfielder. Tiote and Ganso or the likes. Cleverley isn't so good, Anderson fades. Maybe Jones or Smalling could do a job as a holding midfielders.Have to wait for the main men to recover ay CB now though. I thought WBA were are equals today and that's not good enough.De Gea will be fine. He made a couple of top saves, the deflected cross and the shot from 10 yards.Must be tough being at such a big club, so young and not being how to speak English. Needs to muscle up though Eben Edwin made a couple of mistakes last year, one worse the De Gea's 2 blunders

not convinced with that performance . de gea was poor again , very slow to get down to shots . and i think we lacked in midfield . still think midfield needs attention ....

Believable17 Unbelievable14

Who clicked unbelievable?
Open your eyes, jesus.

Agree0 Disagree0

Remind me did we win answer yes?
did Chelsea Arsenal and Liverpool win? answer no get a life saddo
ARB

Agree0 Disagree0

We were lucky today but it's still 3 points, we played well the first half but were poor in the second as WBA closed us down. Our goalkeeper was poor for the goal and needs to sharpen up but he will come good. Our midfield was good first half but it seems the norm now we loose it there inthe second half of games. Anderson was very good first half but again went missing the second. Can somebody explain why he always does this? Cleverly was ok today but we are screaming out for a top midfielder who dicate play for us like scholes used to do. We have nobody who can up the tempo when needed and slow it down again, I think schjeder is a must.

Agree0 Disagree0

ARB concentrate on our team not what is happening around us.
I dont care we won. We was lucky to win.
It was a deflection a big one at that.
No flair second half.
Anderson is unfit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep we wernt good enough today,ok we got de win,but we were very lucky,no urgency,no penitration or creativity,we are lacking in midfield big timewe will not b good enough with that squad this season unless we strenghten in midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

De gea made ONE MISTAKE and every1 having a go at him why not think of the positives he made some great saves and anyway we WON did arsenal chelsea or liverpoo win no and they played small teams

now that rio ijured will it be jones, smalling or evans to replace him, who gonna play at right back now rafaels injured???

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Hopefully jones. looks very good smalling looks great at Rb.
Not keen on evans he needs to go to the Gym has no presence at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabio I believe will play at right back once Evra is back. Jones, Smalling and Evans are all capable replacements at CB.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabio (RB) Smalling (CB) Vidic (depends how long hes out)/Evans (CB) Evra (LB)

Agree0 Disagree0

When Evra is back Fabio will play RB till then we have enough to cover our defence.

Agree0 Disagree0

We've still got 3 centre backs available,
Jones, Smalling& Evans. Evra willbe back at left back next week, leaving Fabio to switch to right back. Both fletcher & Valencia , who both play in the reserves tommorow can also fill in at right back &
i am informed that the Spanish right back who is to sign next week can also play centre back,so theres really no need to be too concerned at this present time regarding defensive cover.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2011 18:13:39
We need a midfielder pi$$ poor.
Rooney our best forward and our best mid.
Nani was useless. Young was great always liked the lad.

Believable20 Unbelievable3

I think pi$$ poor is a bit harsh, i thought Cleverly done pretty well to be honest, i was very impressed again (although to be fair the opposition wasn't top quality), Anderson started well and faded (he definatley does seem to have stamina problems). I do agree we probably do need a bit more quality in the centre but i wouldn't be overly concerned if we didn't bring anyone else in. And remember United rarely start a season in good form, so im happy to take 3 points from the first game no matter what the performance was like.

Andy B

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson i do like him but he is the main link and never came back looking for the ball.

Cleverley is good well he could be...
But he failed a couple of times in front of goal.
I dont see him as our first starter. maybe as the new Gibson. But we need someone stronger to carry the kids when they are prone to disappear.
Cue Sneijder

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2011 17:56:35
I think we should wait till the January transfer window before we buy more players. By then we will really know if we need to invest in a new midfielder for both the league and for in Europe. We should still be in contenrion for the league and for European champions.

Believable4 Unbelievable18

I think its sure thing now.
Everyone said including Fergie Away form rubbish.
If we don't sign anyone by the end of window i will be very disappointed.
There is just no spark from deep.
Rooney is running the show. 9times out of 10 the play starts with him if there is a threat for goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree totally but we do have potential in that position. Even if they did not show it today. What ever SAF does i will agree with after all he knows what is best for OT and UTD he has for 24 years now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could be to late out of the race and champions league we need a defensive mid like de rossi or schweinstigier

The players united would be looking at would be cup tied by then

I also Think C*****e A**m would of done good at OT, some players hit a wall and cant progress like downing.

Believable26 Unbelievable1

Theres no doubt with the talent but they just need a season or two to develop, unfortunately we might get away with it in the premiership but we just don't look strong enough for the big games.

If today's starting line up doesn't send a message to Berbatov, I don't know what will. Whether you agree or not, it doesn't look like he's really in Sir Alex's future plans. Looking forward to see how Cleverley and Welbeck do today. There's plenty of energy throughout the team so hopefully we get the right result.

Matthew...

Believable7 Unbelievable1

I still believe there's a place for Berbatov in a certain type of game but i don't think he should be regular starter. I think he's great at keeping the ball away from home which a lot of our forwards seem to struggle to do. I think he struggles when the game is played at a high tempo but i certainly wouldn't mind if he stayed.

Very worried about our new keeper.

Believable6 Unbelievable25

Give him time, don't right him off yet. I know all the papers will be writing about him tommorow, but i bet they hardly mention Al Habsi's howler Just because he's United's new keeper every mistake will be highlighted. There seems to be an obssesion with every mistake United goalkeepers ever since Schmeichel left But every time Cech or Reina makes a mistake it hardly gets talked about

Andy B

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy i completely agree, anyone who thought de gea would settle straight in must be deluded,he needs games and guess what people, hes only played 2,im sick of so called fans pointing the finger already,a goalkeeper makes a mistake and its a goal,a striker misses a sitter and nothing is said, people need to lay off the lad and give him time phil

14 Aug 2011 11:46:04
rumours surfacing of united now looking at mario gotze after sneijder refused to take a pay cut He looked fantastic against brazil the other day, apparently united scouts were at the game.. Also saw somewhere else that gotze said "Who wouldn't want to play for a club like real madrid, barcelona or manchester united?" I think the hardest part would be getting borussia dortmund to sell him, he is going to be a top top player for sure.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Guys if u probably watched arsenal's game yesterday we should make a cheeky bid for Cheikh Tiote we have all the creativity but lack a destroyer like Roy Keane or recently released Hargreaves and also Fletcher is still recovering from his virus .

Believable11 Unbelievable4

I did - and based on that performance there is no way he's even close to Utd class. Most of his passes went straight to an Arsenal player

Agree0 Disagree0

Fletcher is only a week or two away from being fully fit. Tiote is a decent player, but I don't think we need him.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Tiote would be a fantastic buy. He's around 24, would cost £15m - £20m tops and would thrive with our excellent players around him. I also think we should beat Arsenal to the draw and bid for Marvin Martin, he's just shy of 21, has great control, passing ability and ways in with a few goals. He would cost around£10m- £15m. Martin, Tiote, Cleverley. Anderson, Fletcher, Carrick and with Pogba, Tunicliffe and Morrison to follow, would give us a young midfield ,that would be the best this side of Barcelona. It would work out far cheaper then a Sneijder deal -£25m- £35m in transfer fees and £60,000 a week for Tiote and £50,000 per week for Martin adds up to £52.5m - £62.5m over 5years. Martin will be one of the top midfielders in the world within a year or two. I always think the modern game requires a club to be able to put out two strong teams. This would allow Cleverley/Martin/Anderson, Tiote/Fletcher for the midfield in general with Pogba playing in the odd game, (cups or when we use 3 in midfield). Who Knows we may even be able to get Tiote for Gibson and £8m-£10m or Carrick plus £6m-£8m.
More then likely we won't but anyone else this transfer window. This means we should be able to retain the prem, but have little to no chance of overturning Barcelona in the champions league.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes he is a destroyer (of his own team).
he should go to s**tpool, kk will be interested

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2011 05:05:14
Enough of the WS saga I say.. he is a great player no doubt, but I really hope SAF uses the funds earmarked for him to get Javi Martinez and Goetze (am sure the net transfer fee and wages for these two over 5 years would not be more than that for Sneijder)

Add these to Fletcher, Anderson, Cleverley and we have a great midfield right now Add even 2 of Pogba, Tunnicliffe, Petrucci and Morrison fulfilling their potential and we have a legendary midfield

And the defence and attack seem to be well sorted for the next few years as well

TIPRA_REDDEVIL

Believable9 Unbelievable3

I'd think Martinez price would have soared after his brilliant displays in the Spanish under 21's and Spain's full team. £25m and £20+ for Goetze, plus I just can't see him leaving Germany for a few seasons. I would love to see these brilliant midfielders at OT, but there would be a ton of clubs interested if these guys become available. If we could get them I think they would cost £45m-£55m, for them both, unfortunately for us you and I are not the only people who have noticed these two are two of the best two young players in the game

Agree0 Disagree0

I might be wrong but I think Martinez signed a new deal at his club quite recently. Personally I would love to see him at United, but at the same time I have no problem with cleverly, pogba, Anderson and others being given more game time.
