Does anyone think we should get hazard and a world class striker to help rooney!! I'm worried if he gets injured were in trouble welbeck not good enough Berbertov to slow Hernandez inconsistent and as for Owen never fit

Believable21 Unbelievable4

Hazard or a class striker for me. My ideal striker would be Benzema, but Hazard would be the dream signing. Imagine a 3-3-4 formation.

______De Gea
Smalling_Vidic_Evans
______Carrick
__Anderson_Clverley
_Nani_Hazard_Young
______Rooney

Or the same formation with Benzema in for Hazard and switch Rooney and Benzema. Imagine the attacking football that could be played. Just imagine. It would be something else, something possibly surpassing the days of Ronaldo-Rooney-Tevez.

The down side would be defensive frailties. Although Nani and Young both have good work ethics, as does Cleverley.

Percy

Agree0 Disagree0

Team would be alot stronger with valencia surely? and we would get hammered down the wings. Not liking that formation, although i agree Hazard would be immense

Agree0 Disagree0

I know I'm going to get criticism for this but I really think we should go for Huntelaar to partner Rooney up front. His record this season is sensational. And before those of you jump on the "he hasn't done well everywhere else he's been" bandwagon, just remember that the last Durchman we signed went on to score 150 goals for us.

And for those who want to say the Bundesliga is a weaker league than the Premier League, just remember Berbatov came from Bayer Leverkusen.

Agree0 Disagree0

The bundesliga made dzecko look like van basten and huntelaars a lot older, he's not for me. And 3-3-4? You've been playing to much FIFA son.

Anon

Agree0 Disagree0

Percy mate, if you are playing with three CB's you must have two wing-backs. That formation with those players couldn't work against a half decent side, it would be destroyed by a top team.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry - that should read "Dutchman" ! Doh!

Agree0 Disagree0

Any team with a half decent passing game would find it way to easy to break us down out wide. Drag one of the central defenders out and leave space in behind. Defensively we would be destroyed without wing backs. The only way this would work in my opinion is if we played with 2 defensive midfielders, who covered wide.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sign a top holding midfielder to protect the back 4, then either add a creating midfielder or striker to our collection and watch us destroy teams!
ALL top teams have a def mid

melwing28

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck has the talent but he is too young and inexperienced you can see against aston villa he wasted soo many chances he does it every game. thats why he needs to be loaned next term. and we need hazard and players through the spine

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sorry, but I thought the last Dutchman we signed kept a load of clean sheets.

{Ed022's note - brand new player profile on Edinson Cavani. In my opinion, this will be the transfer saga of the summer and the talk of all media outlets. www.player-profiles.co.uk - thanks all.}

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Think the Hazard saga will be almost as a big. Cavani will be an interesting one given the fact Napoli are taking a greedy stance with his valuation etc.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Cavani will most probably sign for CFC.

Would love him in a united shirt next season

Apparently Munian, Hazard and Gaiten are the Sir Alex's three targets for a winger during the transfer window.
First off, its a shame that Eriksen and James Rodriguiz aren't being considered, although they might be yet.
Preferably, i'd want Hazard because he is extremely talented and would give us they same fear factor we had when we had Ronaldo, as he is already being considered a huge threat to opposing teams at Lille. Even so, I think Munian would be better value for money as he is only 19 and will be around alot longer and will develop into one of the best in the world. If it was up to me I wouldn't get Gaiten because I don't think he is as talented as Hazard or Munian.

Believable18 Unbelievable7

The worry i have with those three are we need a left footed winger and out of them only Gaitan is left footed, i think James Rodriguez would be an excellent choice another would be to see if we can prise Angel Di Maria away from Real other than them your scratching your head for a truely world class left footed wingers, you have players like Dusan Tadic, Andre Ayew, Antione Griezmann and Gaston Ramirez who are very good wingers but i feel will fall just short of the likes of Di Maria Rodriguez and Gaitan, although Ramirez could get there eventually but looks more suited to playing centrally long term.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently Munian is a target of ours according to macca would be gutted if yous go for him
Jones and young all over again
I want champions league so bad

my top midfielders
1. ozil
2. goetze

Agree0 Disagree0

the telegraph are now confirming that manchester united have agreed a deal to sign nicolás gaitán from benfica with fabio (1 year loan) and macheda (permanent) moving to portugal as part of the terms. it looks like gaitán is coming to old trafford after all...

"Another game where Rooney is playing awful! It has got to be approx. Ten games in the trot where I've been very unimpressed. With the amount of money were paying him I'd expect him to place a pass properly."

FredtheRed

I'm shocked at this mate u can't be serious! He is worth every penny pure class. A quality player stays in the goals when he's playing badly that's what he did today. Ten games on the trot? How many goals has he scored in these games when he's been so bad? He has stayed off the front pages kept his head down and focused on playing well. For me he has been our best player scored 30 goals and countless assists he is our star player he would walk in to any team on this planet and a few on mars. Lay off the guy get behind him imagine a united wvout him!

Ddd

Believable27 Unbelievable3

Have to agree he hasn't played well for ages now. His passing has been terrible. If he wasn't English I woner if he would be so highly though of by many. {Ed007's Note - It is not just English people or fans that rate Rooney highly. I'm with 3-D here but not as bro-mancey sounding. I think he has matured on and off the park, When we are talking about signing targets we talk about who could play with Rooney or who's style compliments his. He is probably the one real constant in the team (well maybe Vidic) that doesn't split supporters opinions. Look at Evra, the Twins, Carrick, Nani, Berbatov etc, some supporters rate them and some don't, 99% of supporters all agree that Rooney is a Utd class of player.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Id put valencia on that list too with vidic and rooney

mitch

Agree0 Disagree0

He was the worst player on the park today. He has been weak at times recently. I think we'd look a lot more dangerous if Rooney's form improved because on form he can rip teams appart, I think he looks tired.

Agree0 Disagree0

Scored 2 goals and played badly? Just goes to show how spoilt some united fans are imagine if we had players like Torres and carroll at £85 million they've scored about 10 goals between them.

Anon

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't believe people are questioning Rooney!

11 in his last 11 league games if 'm not mistaken, including match winning goals and goals against the likes of chelsea & liverpool.

People need to stop being so fickle, he's got 30 goals in all competitions and is still hitting the back of the net when he has an off day.

I just hope he proves you lot wrong and scores the winner against city, then no doubt you'll all love him again...sigh

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the original text has a real point that isnt often aired when discusing United. All of us agree if we are honest the side lacks creativity in the last third. I dont think any serious United fan would advocate dropping Rooney, as all of us know that he brings many qualities to the side and that on his day he really is one of our very few world class players. But he really does show that form too rarely and of course as our number ten it is quite right to expect that he should create a lot more goals than he does. Far too often he misplaces a pass to a teammate or does a "flick" to noone when we are in a promising position. Clearly Rooney would benefit enormously if he was playing with better players but if ever hes going to be consistently world class there is room for him to improve this part of his game at least 20%

John the Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Sign of true quality is still scoring when he isn't on top form... still makes him 100% better than any other striker / forward that we have

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with all the comments defending Rooney - he is one of only a couple world class talents we have, clearly.

The only thing I will say to the contrary is I do think he looks a bit tired atm (no surprise there he's played loads). That's why he is misplacing passes IMO and just looking less 'sharp'. But when your scoring in almost every game how could we drop him lol! In an ideal world he would be rested next week for the City game the week after - just a shame we dont have 2 strikers we can trust to get us a win v Everton if he was rested

as summer transfer window is coming up, im wondering who is the most likely to join.
also, i would want to know what the situation is with Us and Eriksen! :D pls, and thank you.

I'm afraid Young wont have done his rep for diving much good again today. Not as bad as last week but he sure does like to fall over : (

Gav

Believable25 Unbelievable4

Totally disgraceful. He should have been booked for diving, not been awarded a pen. Man Utd are better than this they dont need CHEATS.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was definitely a penalty for me as there was contact and if he had tried to stay up he would't have got the ball back but I agree that he has gone down too dramatically recently.

Welsh Dragon

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a penalty, just could have done without the theatricals. But would the ref had give a penalty if he stayed on his feet?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if that had been against us a lot of people on this site would off been shouting dive.
young def made the most of it and was looking for it, but the defender did leave his leg in
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

He did make the most of it, or over do it even, but there was a trip in there.
Would rather he didn't over play them so much though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Goes down too easily and not just in the penalty area
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

How can we call suarez when we have young doin that all the time - embarrassing - fergy should have a word

Agree0 Disagree0

He was fouled so its was penalty so lay off the guy, hes a light weight and moves fast so is easily brought down.

Not to mention there is a lot worse out there who don't even need to be touched before they go diving so give the guy a break.

Agree0 Disagree0

"He was fouled so its was penalty so lay off the guy, hes a light weight and moves fast so is easily brought down"

Are you for real? He's that lightweight that gravity has a different effect on him perhaps? Haha

Anyway I didnt lay into him particularly just think it's not cool how easily he goes down. We all slag off Suarez and Bale for doing it but then some seem to be unable to see it in OUR own players

Was it a penalty? I'm not convinced, I'd say 50/50. Was it a dive? Yes!

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

@Gav

If you had seen Ashley young a few years back at Watford he was like a stick. They thought he was too small to play football and doubted he would even make it. {Ed007's Note - I can't wait to see if he proves them wrong.}

Thank god Wellbeck got that goal he hadnt looked clinical again before it. Let's hope that gives him the confidence to go on a nice run from here. He's linked up well again today tbf

Gav

Believable14 Unbelievable1

It won't stop United fans slating him.
The weight if criticism he's had from fans is way over the top.

Why do so many people want to throw away talented academy graduates just because they aren't quite there yet?

Get with the programme peope.

Pritpal

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Pritpal

Tbf I wouldnt say many want rid of Wellbeck from United (not sensible ppl anyway). I would say though having seen him struggle to finish chances that I wish we had someone more deadly in our starting XI each week. I am a fan of Wellbeck but think he should be a young, squad player trying to force his way into our team with cameo appearances and cup games - rather than being guaranteed a first XI place.

Believable10 Unbelievable25

2 goals not good enough fOr u then ?

Dio

Agree0 Disagree0

Not entirely sure that his wages have anything to do with his having a bad game.
Let's be honest, Rooney is one of the best two distributors of the ball that we have.
He's had a couple of iffy displays, a dip in form you might say, but he plays like a monster every week. Shows more hunger and commitment than most and has been played nearly everyweek for most of the season.
Are you really surprised that he might be a bit knackered and slipped below his usual standards?
Get behind him, don't murder him.
Second top goal scorer is he not?
Come on Fred :)
Believe!

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney is playing pretty poor of late, but he still gets the goals. So I cannot complain until the goals dry up. Would love his mojo to return for the next two games mind.

It's annoying not seeing Pogba on the bench, but as long as we get the 3 points I'll be fairly happy. Be nice to see Cleverley and Nani get on.

Percy

Believable13 Unbelievable1

Percy, why is it annoying. Yes hope he will be an important part of our future, but don't think the next few weeks.

Like it or not this is the group of players he will stick with in the run in.

With the news that fabio going out on loan next season, i am hoping SAF will give fryers a decent run in the team. Im unsure what his contract situation is but i am sure he will sign if SAF promises him first team football.

SteUTD

Believable13 Unbelievable0

More likely Fabs is going out on loan as Evra is going to be the main man next season

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Apr 2012 13:55:59
I think that SAFs comments about Fabio signify two things, firstly Evra is staying, Evra's presence in the side is the reason why Fabio can't get games. It will also mean that Fryers is odds on to sign a new deal as he, for the next year, will be Evra's under study. The hope will be that after the loan move, Fabio will come back and take over from Evra who will be sold. Fryers and Fabio will fight it out for the next few years.

Unfortunatly this means that a new left back is very doubtful, but it does mean that we have a few lads who have a very bright future at the club.

Alternatively, contradicting everything I haave said, could this mean the Cissolkho on loan rumour, that we all poopooed could be true?

Can any one tell me when the transfer window opens and when it closes ?
- me thinks it will be as much fun as watching the Olympics (if not more so )

Many thanks {Ed007's Note - The window opens as soon as the season ends and closes on the 31st August.}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Wrong..the transfer window opens on the 1st of july and yes closes on 31st of august! {Ed007's Note - Well De Gea signed for Utd on the 29th of June and Ashley Young signed on the 23rd. The 1st of July is when the international window opens and you can start registering players, it has nothing to do with when you can actually start signing them. Here is what the PL say about the windows:

FA Premier League
The first Transfer Window in any year shall commence at midnight on the last day of the season and shall end on 31 August next if a Working Day, if not, on the first Working Day thereafter, at a time to be determined by the Board.

The second Transfer Window in any year shall commence at midnight on 31st December and shall end on the 31st January next if a Working Day or, if not, on the first Working Day thereafter, at a time to be determined by the board.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would expect all our transfer coming in would be done early due to the euro's then the olympic's making it harder to do deals during the tourdements.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

Deals and fees can be agreed before the 1st July but they dont officially sign until then

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabio will be heading on loan next season.
So this will mean that we will be signing another left back because that would only leave us with Evra, so I am not sure whether to be happy about this because he will be getting experiences but I don't want us to sign someone who will block his route to the first team because I believe that the Silva twins are the future of our full back positions.

I was just wondering whether you have heard of any interest in the young lad Adam Maher from Alkmaar? Not seen much of him apart from youtube which I know can be deceiving at times when looking at players but he does look like a talent.

According to Caughtoffside, we are interested in a cut price deal to sign Sneijder. ;)
Thought i'd get this rumour out of the way before the summer.

Believable6 Unbelievable8

Fair enough, the problem with Sneijder was always his wages though! I think he's been poor this season, don't think he's mentally in the right place after messing up a deal that he clearly wanted at the end of last season!

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Id much rather Eriksen now.

Gar

Agree0 Disagree0

You are totally right Ozwald. I think he genuinely thought he had 1 foot in Old trafford and just assumed the club wanted him band enough to pay £200,000 a week.......clearly we werent and he screwed up big time.

I think its stupid to say "well Sneijder has been poor for Inter this year so Im glad we didnt get him" as clearly this is Irrelevant and he could of been outstanding or terrible for us had he signed. He could of retired here and he blew It. Knowing all this has effected his head........

I have no sympathy

Please Fergie, no Giggs in the centre today against Villa. He's a legend and great to have as a sub but he's too hit and miss when he starts in the centre. If its that bad put Pogba on if Scholes needs a rest.

Believable16 Unbelievable2

I think after 90 mins on wednesday i'd be stunned to see Giggs start. Also after resting Scholes completely i would imagin he'd start and Sir Alex has been reluctant to start bot of them together.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree!! Giggs is amazing but never as a center midfielder. I prefer it when he justs drifts in from the wing. I seriously thought after the Champions league final last year, Fergie would have learned. But then again he does score important goals at times like the one against Norwich, so I guess i can see Fergie's reasoning.

Actually thats just the BS i tell myself to make myself feel better :(

2Taze

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree. Giggs can not influence a game from midfield. I think the bench is the best place for him these days. Pogba needs to be given a proper chance but I understand why he isn't at the moment due to the importance of all games.

Agree0 Disagree0

Giggs has always been one of my favourite players, but this season especially, he's disappointed me.

Just watching him play is very frustrating, and I'm often shouting at the tv when I'm at home. He only turns up when he feels like it, and looks lazy, the amount of times he strolls back whilst our defence has no cover just isn't good enough.

He hasn't got his pace anymore, but can still weave around defenders and play a great ball in, much better from the flank even now I feel.

TM

Agree0 Disagree0

I say give Pogba a chance. SAF did with Macheda and look what he did against Villa, he scored the winning goal.
not to mention if we are trying to give him a new contract, surely playing the guy will help convince him to stay, it will show SAF has faith in him
