Anyone know why there's onlyh 22 men in the DHL squad.

Could there be a place for a new signing!

Believable11 Unbelievable16

A squad is usually 23 so you never know. Baines?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe for Vidic to join up later on... Or a younger player like Michael Keane or Larnell Cole (with keane being at that tournament)

fearny

Agree0 Disagree0

Would imagine its because alot of players will be joining later after a break from whatever competition they played in unless their in the olympics when that will most likely be their pre season other then a couple of games we always arrange last minute in england

Agree0 Disagree0

DHL squad? Have a bit of respect.

G.A.G.U.S

Agree0 Disagree0

G.A.G.U.S always picks up on little things on this site.Bellend!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Also Evans and Smalling have just returned to training so maybe one of them could fly out in the next days or so

fearny

Agree0 Disagree0

Slagging somebody off without signing off your post, classy.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know how I'm the bellend, but I'd imagine with it being the summer time you have a lot of time on your hands.

G.A.G.U.S

Agree0 Disagree0

GDS, he did sign his name ;)

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Tom Cleverley is with the Olympic team

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice one Sydney. Had to read a few times before it clicked lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney,

Brilliant, I imagine that joke will probably go over his head!

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Is there an actual limit to how many players you can have in a pre-season friendly squad? I don't know but i would've thought you could take as many or as few as you want. obviously you want all the players to have a decent amount of game time, so taking too many would not be clever.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its because Bebe counts as being as good as 2 players!
Andy B

Agree0 Disagree0

No name, the reserves and academy will have friendlies too so cannot take them all. Also for costs reasons you wouldn't take more than you need.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry for not putting my name Sidney, it grinds my gears when people do that, but it didn't really answer my question because the original poster was under the impression that we were one short in the squad. I imagine you could have anywhere between 20 and 30 depending how long the tour is, or how many players you want to look at.

Agree0 Disagree0

Damn it!! I did it again, it's Mitch.
Mitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

In case you didnt realize Rooney and a few big names arent in the DHL tour!! doesnt mean anything just players on holidays

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably because all the other players are still on holiday or getting back from injury i.e Vidic

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

Vidic is joining up with the squad for the European leg of the tour later.

Here's the full squad for the tour...

Lindegaard, Amos, Johnstone, Ferdinand, Veseli, Vermijl, Wootton, Blackett; Valencia, Anderson, Carrick, Scholes, Powell, Kagawa, Bebe, Tunnicliffe, Lingard, Brady, Petrucci; Berbatov, Chicharito, Macheda

Dylan

Believable12 Unbelievable5

Wow, that is what you call a "shop window" squad. Obviously South Africa is for the scouts.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah definitely is Sydney, Do you reckon Berbatov and Macheda will still be here next season, I dont want to sound bad or ungrateful for their service but id like them to leave if we could possibly bring in 1 more forward. Berbatov is class and his skills are wasted at United now due to welbeck and Hernandez, As for Macheda, He showed potential but he has'nt really progressed into a ''man utd'' player if you know what i mean

Dylan

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully berba cause he says yime is up at utd and wants to go the bebe and macheda get sold both useless would of rather had another two reserve players go and get experience than them two imo

Agree0 Disagree0

Ferdinand the only first team defender in the squad? Will be great experience for those kids

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is there no evans or smalling anyone know?
G-Rav

Agree0 Disagree0

Suprised to Bebe included myself but does anyone know if games are on TV be good to see how the younger lads perform, especially the full backacks and midfielders and of course Powell and Kagawa

Agree0 Disagree0

Evans and Smalling are injured or just recovering from injury I think.

The agent has said that Fernando Gago wants out of Real Madrid and that he won't be going to either Russia or Turkey. For 7 Million Euros why not? Just for a box2box player like Fletcher. Eriksen, Gago and Baines would be good.

RedDevil19

Believable11 Unbelievable13

To compete with teams like Madrid, we can't have their squad players.

Hoppy

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't be a bad squad player for us...and IF we dont have much cash to spend..why not? would be a good addition

Agree0 Disagree0

Our goal is to compete in Europe against teams like Madrid. How does buying a player who can't get in their team help us do that?

Agree0 Disagree0

As i said IF we dont have the cash to splash he would be a good addition to our squad...just because he cant get a game for madrid that doesn't automatically make him a bad player...look at sneijder, he wasnt wanted at madrid so did that make him not good enough for a team like utd?? remember last summer!!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jul 2012 11:22:24
Toure was one of Bara's castoffs before he joined Citeh

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a ridiculous argument - he cant be any good because RM dont want him?

He might not fit into Joses plans for next season, simple as that.

Agree0 Disagree0

No, our goal is first and foremost to win the PL title back. But saying, that we can't use the fringe players of Real Madrid is just not thoughtful. Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart were fringe players a couple of seasons ago. Kaka is a fringe player.
Real have so many quality players, and the way they play might dictate other types of players. So the reasoning is not good.
That said, I don't think Gago is good enough for United.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we be concerned with competing against Madrid etc when we couldn't even compete with the lesser teams in Europe, not to mention we also didn't win the league.
Our first priority is to win the league!

I've been looking though the rumours of late and before and i have never heard of any links to Hernanes of Lazio. I know of links to Arsenal in about April/may time, but never anything to Manchester United. if the EDs could confirm this it would be appreciated, but if im wrong and there is interest, i would be happy about it. He is a class playmaker in my opinion, and at 26 hes capable of development yet. i know we need a more box to box mid at the moment but maybe he can be crafted? just my opinion and i would welcome the opinions all the readers of this site. Also he would be available for just under 20 mil apparently, so a possible steal as well? when ive watched him play he does seen to have enough quality to play for united, but opinions on this are also welcome.
Thanks {Ed002's Note - It was thought that there could be interest in Hernanes at the right price but Lazio quoted a figure above £20M which is why Juventus have been put off. Now it seems that he will stay another year in Rome.}

I know people think we need another world class midfielder, but in my opinion we are pretty well stocked in that area now, we have brought in Kagawa to give the attacking flair we lacked last season, we have brought in Powell who looks a promising prospect, and we already have the likes of Cleverly, Scholes, Carrick, and even Anderson who started last season with Cleverly and they were both fantastic! My main concern is a right back, as Rafael doesn't seem to be good enough for us. Also a left back as cover for Evra and a potential successor, in which I cannot see Baines as he is 27, so is a spring chicken by any means. My other concern is a striker, we lacked real goalscorers last season, and we lost the league because of that, we have Rooney, but he is more of a CF than a striker, Chicarito isn't good enough for us i'm afraid, he is always caught offside, and doesn't have any flair about him whatsoever! Welbeck looks promising to have a good season, but again sometimes lacks the flair for a striker of such a top team, and Berbatov is world class, but unfortunately doesn't suit our style of play, and I think that is why Fergie never plays him. I would love for someone like Lewandowski to sign, or even Luuk De Jong, any news on either of those two ed? {Ed002's Note - Nothing today.}

Believable3 Unbelievable19

Yeah but cleverley is always getting injured, scholes will probably retire at the end of the season anderson will probably leave and carrick isn't too reliable so we probably need another midfielder Lucas moura would be ok

Also as for a striker I think we should get either van Persie or falcao

Agree0 Disagree0

You must be the only person who thinks we don't need another world class midfielder.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas Moura is too big of a risk to spend over 30m on, and our midfield wasn't bad last year, it was just a lack of firepower, as Fergie said he wanted his midfielders to start scoring a few goals, Kagawa provides that fie power. f we did sign a midfielder, it won't be Lucas Moura we have too many attacking options now, Kagawa, Powell, Rooney, Young can play there, Giggs also. Fergie has basically said definately 1 more signing, and another one if he can get a deal done for them, the definate will be a full back, and I predict that the other one will be a striker, possibly RVP, or possibly Falcao as we know he's a fan of his.

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck dosent have flair? Iv seen him score nice goals and pull off nice skills. Its easy to look at other teams and think their players are better than yours. Welbeck could still easily become a better player than lewandowski. A few years ago edin dzeko was everything lewnadowski was, and more in the bundnesligue. He hasnt gone on to be a star in the premier league however. Welbeck is raw talent. He has shown that talent too, allbeit in flashes. He could still be anything between a 10 million pound asset, and a 30m pound asset. Since we have developed him, we might aswell give him the chance to see if he can fulfill his potential. If he dosent mature beyond his present level he can become a squad player, and if he improves it means that we can spend money improving the team in other areas.

You write off hernandez too easily. He lost his place only because welbek showed promise and i think ferguson sensed after he returned from sunderland
(where he made an impact) that if he got games would mature further. I think he was right about that, and welbeck is now probably a 15m player. A good choice when u think about it like that, because hernandez is probably worth something similar after his first season. When you consider the funds we have, freeing up capital by completing the squad like this, will allow us to target the resources we do have in a more focused way, which i think we are going to need to stop man city in the coming years, not to mention barcelona and real madrid.

Hernandez is going to get enough game time over the coming years to refind his form. I expect both to be good players for Man United in years to come, and if we are lucky one of them might emerge yet as a world class player. If not they will form apart of a 4 man strikeforce that fergie likes to have, without problem.

My bet would be avoid signing a striker and see if these two can develop further this season. If not invest next year in a new leading striker if there is no improvement, or in 2 years, if there is only partial improvement. We can allow macheda to come in as the 4th striker for now, or let berbatov stay for this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrick, scholes, Anderson are simply not good enough I'm afraid, all the teams that caused us trouble last year bossed the midfield, with the likes of Toure and Felani making our midfield chase shadows

Benji

Agree0 Disagree0

You say I write Welbeck off? I think he's a good player, juat not up to our standard in my opinion, and as you say he only shows glimpses of what he can do, if he can keep doing that throughout the season then he'll deserve his place, but at the moment he is an average player in my opinion. As for Hernandez, his first season was average, we played good football and he was there to stick the ball in the back of an empty net, he would be good for a mid-table team, but not for us, I don't see him exceeding any expectations set by us fans. Macheda looks a promising striker though, I hope he gets some game time and can prove he has talent.
Carrick was our best CM last season! Scholes is just a master, you don't want to start him, he's too old now, but bringing him on in the 50/60th minute when we are winning would be a genius move, he controls the pace of the game and can let us see out some tough games. I think Anderson is slated too much, yes he's no magician, and his movement off the ball isn't great, but the beginning of the last season him and Cleverly were running the show! He is no superstar, but he does his job, much the same with Carrick, who is very underrated, he does his job without all the glam and it all goes unnoticed, the only thing we lacked from midfield last year was goals and attacking force, Kagawa brings this to our team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to say that I have never disagreed with so many points in a single post.

Berbatov - world class. Doubt it!

Rafael will be one of the best right backs in the league in anothe 1 or 2 yrs

Chicharito will come good again. Many players don't have the same impact in their secong season. He is still very young and learning.

Evra - we definitely need to replace him though

Agree0 Disagree0

Berbatov is a world class player, do you really think we'd pay 30.75m for him if he wasn't? it was just one of those signings who doesn't suit the style of football we play.
Rafael lost us some vital points and games last season, especially against Everton and Bilbao in the europa league. I think in a couple of years he will come good, but he needs loaning out like his brother.
Chicarito has nothing special about him, he is a very average poacher, his first season was the team playing well putting goals on a plate for him, I wouldn't mind that style of player at united, but he needs something more to him if he wanrs to be good enough to play for us.
Evra is just ageing, and was tired last season, thats the reason why some of his performances were poor, the main reason he needs cover.

Agree0 Disagree0

Give chicarito a chance his first season was a good one and this will be his first rest before a season for 3 years and will be firing this season !! we are crying out for a world class midfielder !!!

sparkyred

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez is quailty scored 12 goals last season same as welbeck who played loads more games. Think we should sigh rodwell an rvp moura is good but the brazilian leauge is not the same quality as the epl rodwell would cost about half of moura aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree with your comments rafael/jones enough cover for right back!! midfield needs overhauled big time giggs , scholes are only bit part players now...no fletcher.. anderson doesnt know his best position...cleverly is always injured and has still to realise his potential... carrick is an ordinary player !! in my opinion we need 2 class centre mids with pace and skill who can close down very quickly ... we were outclassed in midfield by ajax, bilbao to name but a few because we were weak in midfield last year... i fear though we will probably buy only 1.. because no one will come out and tell the truth that the glazers have ripped us off and we cant afford these top players anymore..so we have to settle for 2nd best hoping that these players turn out to be really good ..martin

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez just had a bit of second season syndrome he didnt get on as much as welbeck and scored similar about but think rooney prefers to play with welbeck i prefer hernandez more clinical

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll actually beleived we lost the league by throwing silly points away to teams we should be beating.....e.g blackburn at home and wigan away.....also if united wouldve done what every other team would have done close up shop against citeh when down to 10 men.....it may not have been 6-1. even if it ended 3-1 thats 6 goals on the goal difference...to start stating pretty much half our team aint good enough... what hope have we realy got in your book. Just to let you know this aint football manager this is the real world. We lost the league last year because of various reasons.

1. dropped silly points (which we dont do often)
2. too many long term injuries to key players.
3. too many niggles through out the season (chico) included was he actually fully fit at any point.

lets face it are we really in such a bad state with regards to our squad other that the obvious midfield problems and cover at full back. we scored 89 league goals last season. 4 behind citeh, and 15 ahead of chelski ( our 2 main rivals ).
the question i need too ask is...
do we really need another striker when we scored plenty anyway. spend the money on the midfield and defence.

Yes this is possibly 1 of the worse united teams in years. but we beat chelsea by 19 points and as for citeh.....congratulations for catching our worse team in years. football moves in cycles and as we all well know every 4/5 we dont win anything then come back with avengence. roll on next season when we conquer england and europe again... keep the faith.

Agree0 Disagree0

Our main concern last season was injuries, we had too many too frequently, but we still managed to finish joint top on points proving our squad was capable of winning the league, our central defence will be amazing next season with Vidic returning, we have 3 excellent young CB's in Smalling, Jones and arguably our best defender last season Jonny Evans. We need cover for Evra, and Jones and Smalling are cover for Rafael if needed. Our midfield has been improved with the signing of Kagawa who gives us energy as well as exceptional talent one thing Park couldn't give us. Our attack is good, but for me an experienced striker would be a good signing, maybe RVP or even Falcao, but I doubt we will sign either of them. As a whole, I am quite happy with our squad for next season, obviously a couple more signings will give us strength in depth, but our squad is bursting with talent and determination to do better than them next door.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop writing off welbeck and hernandez. Hernandez is probably the best back up striker in the league, and with macheda as well, we don't need another striker. We also don't need any more midfielders. We've got carrick, scholes, cleverly, Anderson, kagawa, Powell, and tunnicliffe and petrucci coming through to the first team. But a left back is needed. I'd much rather jetro willems, who's got a long future, or Fabio coentrao rather than baines. Any news or interest in them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless Welbeck decides to be a out and out striker then we need a true striker. Hernandez can't do it himself. Rooney is a number 10 and should not be our top goalscorer. An RVP/Falcao/Lewandowski would be a welcome addition to the team. People say we never replaced CR7 but we also never replaced Van Nistleroy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not writing off Welbeck at all, I just think he needs another season on loan somewhere before he becomes our top striker. Hernandez hasn't improved since we got him, when he came everyone saw bags of potential, yes he is still young, but there has been no improvement whatsoever from him. I agree with your LB choice though, Baines costs too much for a 27 year old, if we could get him for 5m or so then definately, but there will be no improvement with him, 27 is the peak of everyones career near enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't disagree more.

The reason we lost the leauge is because our midfield get dominated by any half-decent midfield they face. All our midfielders can pass the ball, but most of them can't do much else.

With Fletch out, Anderson is the best we have when it comes to pressuring the opposition and winning the ball back.

We need someone who can pass AND tackle, something we don't have.

We don't need another forward, especially if we play Kagawa in the hole with one up front, which seems likely, and we have plenty of options at right back (yes Rafael is not world class yet, but he looks a good bet to become world class, and lets face it, we have hardly any world class players in ANY position).

LB cover is the only thing I agree about.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope you guys realize that we can play Kagawa in the hole and still play 2 up front, with that in mind I think SAF might still be looking 2 add another striker but that's just my opinion

NoName:)

Agree0 Disagree0

Why so many responses without names fellow brethren ?

Welbeck and Hernandez are good squad players. Both young and both time to develop so we should stick with them. However we need world class players NOW to win the title back and I think more crucially for Fergie, look to win the Champs League again.

Whether we are in for another striker or not now depends on whether Berbatov moves on which clearly he has signalled his intent to do so.

The deal crying out to be done is surely Berba + between £10m or £15m for RVP is it not ??

I think he would rather move to United than City as he would be a first choice with us and a much bigger club. I appreciate his record over a number of seasons is not brilliant in terms of injuries however that didnt seem to stop SAF buying a perma-crocked Owen did it ?

Surely we could construct a high basic / smaller pay as you play weeky wage for RVP that would be attractive, for arguments sake £150k pw plus £50k a game ?

Or a deal involving image rights perhaps ?
Still less than Rooney, competitive with what City may offer though AND gives us some 'savings' if gets crocked and doesn't play.

I understand Fergie has said previously that he would love to sign him if he became available and I do think we are in for him now.

I agree that Kagawa can play in the hole and have 2 players up front too. I think that would be a great option. In recent years we were at our best when Rooney. Ronaldo and Tevez were interchanging places at will to prove a slick attacking trio and theres no reason why Rooney, Kagawa and Van Persie could'nt become the same potent threat.

Halesini

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly we will not pay RVP 150k +50, we pay our team very low wages with Rooney being an exception, I would love to see RVP at united, but I have a bad feeling he'd be another Berbatov, and we'd just be benching an amazing talent when they deserve better, yes he's world class, but so is Berba, they both lack the pace and energy that united have, Rooney is an engine, as in Valencia who was our best player last season by a country mile, Nani and Young are both speedbags, as are Welbeck and Chicarito, our attack is based mainly on pace, whihch unfortunately RVP lacks. But I do agree with Kagawa and 2 strikers in a 4-1-2-1-2 formation with Carrick being the holding midfielder, but we could do with a more defensive midfielder, or even play Jones there who when he has played there loves to get forward as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Halesini - Owen was free. Doubt SAF would have gone for him otherwise. As it was, he was free, willing to take relatively low wages on pay-as-you-play type deal, and made a decent option just for cover whe Rooney and Berba were unavailable.

Hi guys, first time poster. Just wondering what u guys think but if the rumours are true of our interest in moura who would cost atleast in excess of 30 mil. Does any one else think this would be a huge gamble on our part given our poor track record with Latin players! He is undoubtedly a great prospect but concerns me we would be going down the same route of a veron. Given he is a different sort of player. Maybe a less exciting Eriksen would be more of a cert to fitting in. Just wondering what u all thought?

Believable8 Unbelievable18

WHY even ask, that's ridiculous.

Cban

Agree0 Disagree0

Unlikely but not rediculous. We know athletics were interested in Nani and SAF is an admirer of Falcao. It's probably just people using those facts to make a story but don't call it rediculous!

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani is worth a good 10m more than Falcao. I know people doubt him, but just look at his stats, plus he's still only 25.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry maye but Falcao is worth more than Nani. Falcao is not old and given the fact that he has improved even more after being purchased for over 30m by Athletico then he is worth around 35m imo. Nani is not worth that much.

Ed, has there been any interest towards Jack Rodwell? Fergie seemed keen last year {Ed007's Note - I'm not aware of any recent interest.}

Believable2 Unbelievable14

Fergie will only go for Rodwell if another club comes in for him,Modric is the obvious target but if we miss out on him he won't panick but Rodwell is seen as Carricks future replacement
Tiger2

Agree0 Disagree0

Especially with all his game time and recent excellent performances, im surprised there hasn't been more interest...

Gar

Agree0 Disagree0

Why rodwell again ? He's done absolutely nothing in his career to suggest he's even close to a utd player or is it that passport thing again?

Dustbin

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Rodwell is a great player, in my opinion we should have done Gibson plus 10m for him rather than leaving it and giving him time to improve at everton, it'll only bump his price up

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodwell's potential has been clear to see, he has been growing so injuries are no surprise. Look at Wilshere, would you say no to him? Rodwell has a lot to his game and I think we could do a lot worse.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

It's probably his hamstring issues that are holding him back and making SAF take a wait and see approach IMO. No one knows how serious his hamstring problems could be in the future at this moment in time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodwell, when fit which is about as often as Cleverley, can't even get in the Everton team! If we buy a midfielder from Everton buy the man who keeps him out of the team, the impeccable Fellaini. Still only 24, powerful on the ground and in the air and can play anywhere in central midfield. I've even seen him play as an emergency striker and he was pretty good too. He's worth 25m of anyone money.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

26m i'm afraid. When he signed a new 5 year deal with Everton they set a huge buy out clause to stop potential bidders.

I know it's only paper talk but i hope there's something in the Christian Eriksen story. I watched a lot of Ajax games last season and he is class, He's gonna be a top player. I'd actually rather Eriksen over Modric and Moutinho. He's only 20 years old and im sure he'd turn into a top player at United, either way he's gonna be a top player, I just hope its with us, Is he really only rated at about 20 million? Or is it paper rubbish?

Also, Does anyone know if Tunnicliffe, Blackett and Petrucci are going on the tour?

Finally, What do you guys think about Berbatov and Macheda? Do you think anyone is interested in them? Berbatov is wasted with us and i dont think Macheda has progressed the way that was hoped for him... Thoughts?

Dylan

Believable14 Unbelievable7

I too have watched a fair bit of Eriksen, and agree that he will most definitely turn into a top class player! However, we need a bit more of an experienced player, not only in age, but in a top league (preferably the prem). Eriksen is in a similar mould to Clev, so I can't see him being a target of high priority. Modric would be an ideal signing in terms of what we need at this moment in time, and I truly hope we pull it off, but it has to be said that it largely depends on real Madrid.

I have word that fergie has been impressed by a number of youth players in training this week and Tunnicliffe, Petrucci, Blackett will all travel for sure. Other players that have impressed this week include Brady,Cole, Lingaard and Giverin. Fergie also intends to take Michael Keane and Sam Johnstone now they are finished with England

The debate about the centre of midfield I think is going to carry on raging until we sign someone. There are two options, a strong box to box player, or someone more technical. Its hard to say which one I favour. I prefer the technical style player, so Modric and Eriksen do appeal to me. However since we have lost Pogba and Fletcher a box2box player is more urgent as I feel the only one we have is Anderson (sort of). I hope that our lack of links to either Khedira or Martinez is a positive sign that something is going on inside the club, under wraps. If Modric is to go to Madrid, which I hope he does if he doesn't come here, then hopefully Khedira will be available as I think he'd be a good player alongside wither Cleverly, Carrick, Anderson or Scholes. He and Carrick in the big games would be solid and with either Anderson or Cleverly he'd let them break forward more. He could be our Yaya Toure who I think won ManCity the title last season.

I've seen oil tankers turn faster than khedeira, he would not be the yaya toure for us. The closest players I can think to that sort of role that wouldn't cost us a fortune are sissoko and corgnet off the top of my head tbh and they're not at that sort of level.

Give Tunnicliffe real chances, he will be our box to box player. Buy the technical guy, whoever he may be.

There's a third and more realistic option........ we make noises about buying a CM'er like we did last year but end up not buying one. My personnel preference (Schweinsteiger) is out of touch, Martinez would be top notch but it won't happen unfortunately, Khedira's a good shout though, really hope we get a CM'er or we will be short again just like last season.

IMHO we need a player with physicality, who can sit in front of the defence, is a good tackler, can make space for himself and has good distribution, both long and short.

Reading that back, I suppose I'm talking about a better version of Carrick who can do the business against the really top teams.

My knowledge of players around the world isn't good enough to suggest who this player might be (anyone?) but if he can tackle like Mackalele and pass like Scholes then he's the man!

Martinez if we have the money ! strootman if we only have 15 mil to 18 mil

I think it could work TBH, even though deep down I would always prefer the more techical option (modric, Moutinhho)

We could play Khedeira with Carrick when we need to be solid, or with Cleverly when we need fluidity. Scholes can rotate as needed. Then Kagawa and Powell to rotate at CAM. With Anderson and Giggs as additional cover our midfield could be sorted if we got Khedeira, at potentially £20-25m it would be affordable

Bloody Hell! The more I think about it, I can't believe we're even having this discussion.

This is Manchester United we're talking about for Christ's sake!

We should be bringing in Martinez and Moutino without any messing about, not discussing bargain options like Strootman.

Bloody Glazers, like a big fat leech latched onto the main artery of a beautiful giant; they make me feel sick.

Is there any truth in lucas moura 30 m bid or is this just another gossip?please answer if not repititive
? {Ed002's Note - Please read the posts.}

It will all come to nothing. United don't buy players of this calibre any more. Fergie will be looking for "value" and he normally comes up with Bellion, tosic, obertan, macheda etc etc.
We have become a second rate club with second rate owners and the manager needs to go as well to save his excellent reputation.

We did not accept the offer but of course Chelsea is the closest to signing Lucas,' he told Italian website www.fcinter1908.com.
'Inter made an offer of £20.2 million, but this was not considered sufficient by us." Sao Paulo president Juvenal Juvenico.
this was in june so according to him inter bid 20.2 mill but chelsea have bid more

I can say that we have not yet received an official offer from Inter for Lucas, nor have we received any information about any proposal from them," he told FCInternews.it.

"With regards to the offers from Manchester United and Real Madrid, we are studying them internally. We cannot say anything else for obvious reasons.

"Everyone knows that there is a release clause of €80 million for all those who want to sign Lucas." Sao Paulo president Juvenal Juvenico.

now in july inter havent bid but united and madrid have.

Now inter president Morratti has confirmed inter are trying to sign lucas is the any chance that Juvenal Juvenico is trying to push the price up and get inter to get there fingers out.
