The Alexis Sanchez saga: City meet with Udinese and they are favorites, Gill meets with them and we are favorites, Barca meet with them and they are favorites etc etc. Add in Juve, Chelsea, Inter. If this kid is so good, we should steam in with a 35m bid or walk away. Good night!
--------------------------------------------------------

Exactly!Id say we should ignore it cos it cud go on all summer(which will drive me crazy). Enough of this haggling s**t and just put in a massive bid of 35m+, if the money is there y dont just put in a big bid 5-10 m isnt that big considering it cud b the difference between getting a VERY good player and letting other teams like city catch up with us or in the case of barca run further away from us.

Ed002 - It's funny how things change so quickly in the transfer window isn't it? A week ago you said it was a very slim chance that Sanchez will be a United player, now they are in the mix. A few weeks ago you said that Chelsea have no interest in Modric, but in fairness you did say not to your knowledge. They don't call it silly season for nothing do they?

Ed, what do you think Chelsea would be willing to spend on Modric? A month ago you said he was worth £25m-£30m, but I imagine it would be more now, is that fair?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I cannot hazard a guess at the price. I suspect the bid is in retaliation to the price tag placed on Pastore. We will have to wait and see.}

In my opinion i woudnt say nasri will go to utd because they might be losing fabregas because he might go to barca, so they are to top players for arsenal and would be hard to replace them so it is unlikely wenger will let nasri go

Just listening to Tim Vickery on Irish radio, he has no contacts that i could make out but he reckons that Udinese hold all the cards on this one. Sanchez has his preferences (i.e. likes English football but prefers Barca) but they'll call the shots and they're in no hurry. Vickery reckons that they'll hold out for top top dollar or keep him for the Champions league and sell next summer. With that in mind you're talking £30Mil PLUS for him. That kind of rules out Barca and maybe United too?? Thoughts Ed? {Ed002's Note - See above or below for my thoughts on Sanchez.}

I see Chelsea have took advantage of Gill being tied-up in the Sanchez saga to make their move for Modric. I am certain we will equal their accepted offer and it will come down to where Modric wants to go.

Does he want to stay in London or does he want to buy a mansion in Cheshire? What do you think Ed?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Chelsea would not have considered where Gill was. I have no idea what Modric wishes.}

I really wish these rubbish rumours and wishful thinkings regarding Sneidjer coming to United IMO this will NOT happen and as for Ronaldo coming back to united. Never ever ever ever ever will this happen ever!

Lets get real here!

Phil Jones is already done
David De Gea looks like it will happen

The maybe's

Nasri - This is THE player I would like to see more than possibly any other I think he would be a fantastic addition. I think though my hope that he comes outweighs the probability!

Alexis Sanchez - There is no doubt we need a player of his quality I somehow just don't see it due to how udinese are to deal with and I think Eden Hazard would be the more likely of the two. If neither happen I think Ashley Young will be the back up plan.

I wouldn't rulse out a move for Jack Rodwell. It is known we have monitord him for some time and I think with the way the English players all seem to be moving around that this transfer window would look the most likely.

Luka Modric - Possibly not a better player to fill the boots of Paul Scholes and I would love to see this player at United just don't see this happening either.

So to conclude if it was down to me I would go for:

David De Gea
Phil Jones
Samir Nasri
Luka Modric

First time I've posted on here and this is what I think think could happen. Sanchez has already stated that he doesnt want City, he'd rather go to UTD, so they're out of the running, unless he's after cash instead of trophies. Do Barca really have enough money if they're going after Cesc? However, think it's between Barca and UTD where he ends up. The Inter bid for Kaka will set the ball rolling, Sneidjer will then leave, expect UTD to put a bid in which will then see Nasri having to make a decision on where he wants to end up next season...... just my thoughts. What do you think Ed? {Ed002's Note - My views an Sanchez are well known. We know that Chelsea, Manchester City and Inter Milan have made unsuccessful bids, and we know that Manchester United and Barcelona have a declared interest. Juventus had previously been interested but were hoping that (a) Sanchez stayed under the radar until a deal could be struck, and (b) Udinese would look kindly on an arrangement that included some cash and several players either in exchange, on loan or in part-ownership as part of the deal. As an aside Juventus have proposed a similar deal for Javier Pastore. Anyway, there was a January meeting with Chelsea in Monaco and broad agreement was reached over the transfer before Giampaolo Pozzo said that the deal must include a loan of the player back to Udinese. Whilst Barcelona were apparently willing to agree to this until the end of the season, Pozzo proposed that whoever Sanchez moved to should allow him to be loaned back for 18 months – hence the end of any discussions. I expect that Juventus will not come back in to the picture. Although Sanchez has been watched by numerous teams including Roma, there is nothing new other than Manchester City having a bid rejected for the player and Inter entering further discussions about the player - but I am told that no further bid has been made. Manchester City, like Juventus, were knocked back in a bid for Pastore and are likely to aim their cheque book in another direction – this may well be another bid for Sanchez. The advantage they have, in addition to being able to match any transfer fee, is the ability to put together a wage deal far beyond anything the other clubs could afford or would be willing to pay. I suspect that we will see this whole saga drag out through the summer transfer window as Pozzo puts the player on the market, takes him off the market, values him at €100M and so on. Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter will all likely remain interested but could well tire of the expected drawn-out negotiations. Manchester United and Chelsea were both originally wary of the player being not quite as robust as needs be for the EPL. Perhaps Inter will get their man or perhaps Sanchez will respond positively to reported interest from the nice folks at Barcelona or even Real Madrid. There is an unconfirmed report that Manchester United have asked for time to consider a further bid and that bid appears to be imminent. I have speculated that Manchester United may turn their attentions to Eden Hazard instead if a further bid for Sanchez fails. The player has made no secret of his desire to stay in Italy. An enquiry from Anzhi Makhachkala has also been rebuffed at the first hurdle.}

Any idea whether or not Defour is still being looked at? Its a shame about the injuries because he's a class act. Would have been a great replacement for hargreaves.

In other news, we all know that De Gea, Jones and Young are pretty much wrapped up. Do you think there will be more than 1 central midfielder signed? I'd love to see Nasri in a united shirt, very quick, versatile and a hard worker. Can also pick a pass and has some shot on him. we could get him for 15-20 million I reckon.

Kaka to Inter for around £30m allowing Sneider to leave for United for around the same fee.

Real will possibly test HR's resolve with a £35m bid for Bale.

Kaka to Inter 80% chance
Sneider to United 80% Chance
Bale to Real 50% Chance. If this goes through Redknapp may look at Carrick for around £12-15m.

David Gill leaving Barcelona very unhappy and feeling a bit used today. Sanchez was never coming. all those people taliking about madrid reps being in barcelona today were correct. United never had a chance.
Due to our old friend
Ronaldo!...

Dont get excited, going to Shi::ty. The deal, is they back off sanchez, he gos to Real and Ronnie go's the other way. Deal struck in barca as no one would expect it there. In case it never got through easier to keep under the prying eyes of of the press.

Im not asking for you to believe me or be convinced. Im just putting the peices that you keep getting wrong together for ya. Check out ronnies twitter which pretty much gives it away.

Still doubts. Remember how ronnie works. the stories keep coming that hes being courted by a club to earn more money. its denied and not going to happen. then he changes his contract or swears loyalty to the club.

Oh hes been sold !

Any comments on this ED (love to see how you would backtrack on dismissing this if you do) {Ed004's Note - I am going to be honest and say outright, I do not believe this rumour... It is very unlikely that Ronny would go to City, and Sanchez to Udinese}

It is a fight between city and united for sanchez, barcelona couldn't get the sum of money together for him they were offering player swaps and udinese just weren't interested. The youngster will have to make a decision now, city with all the cash or united with all the cups and trophies. I know where i would be heading, straight down sir matt busby way! what do u think ed ? {Ed001's Note - he is a United fan, that should be enough to seal the deal, but Udinese are not easy to deal with.}

MANCHESTER UNITED last night stole a march in the battle for Alexis Sanchez when David Gill flew to Spain to seal the deal.
And the Old Trafford chief executive hopes to wrap up a £27million transfer for football's most wanted man within the next few days.
If Gill pulls off the audacious swoop - pipping Manchester City, Barcelona and a host of other European giants - it will take manager Alex Ferguson's summer spending to an amazing £82m.
Gill met Udinese president Gino Pozzo yesterday - ironically in Barcelona, where the Italian supremo lives - to thrash out an agreement.

What are your thoughts ed?? Paper talk or is the for real??

Mufc 1990 {Ed001's Note - there is a definite attempt to sign him.}

Manchester United are ready to seal a £27million deal for Udinese's Chilean star Alexis Sanchez - under the noses of Manchester City and Barcelona.

United supremo David Gill flew to Barcelona yesterday to meet Udinese's negotiators who were talking to the Catalans as the auction for the talented attacking midfielder comes to the boil.

And Gill was also spotted in talks with Sanchez's representatives who have been with Barca - with insiders revealing that the player wants to go to United above all of their rivals.

Sanchez is being bartered around by Udinese, who wanted £30 million but are now under pressure to take less both by United and their South American star's camp.

United have now gone in hard and official for Sanchez - despite City sending a two-man delegation of Garry Cook and Brian Marwood to Italy over the past few days.

City were hoping to blow all of the other bidders out of the water with an offer, but they have been told again that Sanchez prefers to go to the red half of Manchester.

Boss Sir Alex Ferguson wants Sanchez as his next major capture, a race that sped up when Paul Scholes announced his retirement. United had been watching the exciting Udinese ace but really got serious as that vacancy appeared.

Sanchez is waiting on United and Udinese sorting out the fee. He is in Chile but has been given permission by his national team to fly off and sign for a new club before Copa America begins in July.

The gifted and speedy star wants to go to United as he believes he has a better chance of a game than he would at Barcelona who have been on his trail for weeks.

Barca failed to match Udinese's asking price - despite offering cash and various player swaps - and they will now switch their search elsewhere with Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas still high on their wish list.

SAF would never agree to this proposed deal with Barca taking Sanchez back after 3 years. It seems highly unlikely that Fergie would want to develop a player for our main European rivals! Come on, sort it out. If we go for him, which I think we will, it will be on OUR terms, not Barca's, not City's, nobody's but ours.

We need to remember, we're Manchester United, the biggest football club in the world, not some shi**y feeder club!
