Phelan must move to reserved/youth or hopefully another club. What we've witnessed this season is more fruits of his work. Our gameplay is getting like his style of play, uninspiring and laboured.
Get in someone with a bit of f*****g know how.
We made Bilbao look like the brazil 82 side.

Ps We need to tie down pogba quick though, not convinced he's a dm though like some say.
He was far more influential than park in his game time and physically imposed himself better than park or giggs.
Supasub

Believable42 Unbelievable3

Totally agree supersub, ive said for a while we're missing a good number 2. If pogba signs a new deal il be smiling for a month, he was a positive on a otherwise negative night. Can't be doing with all the we are useless posters, nows not the time, we cant change the team now but we can get behind the team for 10 massive matches and help them over the finish line. tom17

Agree0 Disagree0

I firmly believe we are watching a team in terminal decline.....only SAF, Rooney and a handful of others are where we should be at. I couldn't agree more re. Phelan. It's no coincidence that we've switched to a very boring, unimaginative 442 & style of play since he became no.2. We need someone like Bielsa who can get the best out of what we have.....and for gods sake get away from the 442 except when playing average EPL games.

RedMonkey

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest the tactical aspect has been poor since Carlos Quirez (spelling) left the club, was always seen advising SAF on tactics etc. Phelan just sits there like a yes man, nodding at what SAF says

Agree0 Disagree0

Could we not promote the first team coach? Rene Meulensteen, he's the one that brought in our technical ethic at youth level and now at first team level. I think he could be a good shout for number 2.

Percy

Agree0 Disagree0

We blame Phelan for s**t player performances , team selection sorry you make excuses for crap play by players, what you think Phelan has a hand up every players arse?

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

Best league in the world my arse yous got a football lesson from the 7th best team in spain

Agree0 Disagree0

Mr. no name, were on top of the prem, best team in the league.... so what does that say about the others? what club do you support to come on here and say that?

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrick has to go....adds nothing to the team. Can't tackle or pass & definitely no threat going forward. Send him back to spurs

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree about Carrick- he looked like a rabbit in headlights. One thing struck me was the way AB players always took the ball forward at speed with touches, passes but we paused, passed sideways, backwards or hoofed it high. You could see a sense of taking the sting out of the game etc etc but frankly that will not work against teams like this. Also where we have been embarassed this year by lesser teams it is not by their getting a lucky goal and hanging on but by running at us and harrying us. THat seems to me a call for new players in the team that can play instinctively like we used to/should be rather than simply a coaching issue.

Agree0 Disagree0

Makes me laugh...suddenly Phelean is to blame now. Why don't you take a look at the bog standard players that we have in the team that are just not good enough. Since we won the European cup players like Ronaldo, Tevez (love him or hate him) who are both world class players have been replaced with average players like Ashley young. In the space of two seasons we have fallen so far behind the top clubs in Europe it's ridiculous. the reality is there are two many average joe players who need to be moved on. Players like Park, Owen, Berbatov, Anderson, Macheeda. I honestly think that if we get 3-4 really good players in this season we can challange again next year but if Fergie thinks that he can win anything in Europe with this group of players he needs his head testing.

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with a lot of whats been said on this I think Phelan has to go adds nothing to the set up, if you look at the players when he is on the touch line none of them listen to a word he is saying. A lot of people might not agree but somebody like Roy Keane would be a great number 2 and would not be afraid to voice his opinions, also what about Ray Wilkins who knows the game inside out. Fergie has to take some of the blame too as he should be on the line giving out the instructions not his yes man. Also we have no leaders on the pitch anymore where years ago we had Keane Ince Bruce Neville etc. How many more times are we going to have a midfield of Giggs, Park Carrick when I saw those in our line up last night only one result was going to happen. I wish we would get rid of Park and Carrick(never Man Utd class) Evra Ferdindand, I think a lot of the dead wood will be sold in the Summer and its not before time. We were totally outclassed in both legs and I think the attitdue left an awful to be desired, they players did not want to be in the Europa League but they might start to relaise that they have no divine right to be in the Champions League.

Damian M

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with that,we were pedestrian they were quick and snappy, clear out the dead wood and bring in new signings and the best of the youth team, heres a few names to get us started
Signings
javi martinez
higuain or benzema
ozil
izaguirre

Robbie brady

City are getting trashed against Sporting.

Sydney!

Believable9 Unbelievable3

Who cares ? Piip

Agree0 Disagree0

Bad news if they lose - they'll be able to concentrate on PL . . .
Albert

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope they go onto win here, not only because of the extra games they'll play but the fact that I put £100 on them at 5/1 just before half time.

City look like pulling this around - good, they'll end up with nowt!!!!!!!!

After that total humiliation at the hands of a very enthusiastic and enegertic team
I hope that was the last time we see Rio,Evra Park Giggs and Carrick in A European Fixture, No complants about the result but it was obvious with SAF team selection that we could not progress

We were told after the champions league final defeat to barcelona that the challenge was to get closer to them. This may not be possible but I think we're getting further away, we're on par with the spl at this moment in time , I don't think we could manage a top ten finish in la liga with this team?

UnitedRunited

Believable27 Unbelievable14

How do you judge that we are on par with the SPL? Which team? Inverness?

We are top of the ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE!

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't panic, these things take time! We are rebuilding and bringing through young talent and this all takes time! Go and support city for a couple of years and then come back when are really flying again once everything clicks! Keep the faith!

Del boy!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yet we are top of the Premiership…..we are a team in transition.i have every faith in them now and in 5 years time we could have another world class team
MasterLavey

Agree0 Disagree0

It is true we are inferior as was real madrid a couple of years ago, barcelona before that, bayern etc..Totally agree with Del boy..it takes time and i can see light at the end of the tunnel.we have very exciting players coming through, plus i can't forget when Sir Alex and David Gill mentioned in November (if am not wrong) that they are already working on summer targets..I will not be totally upset even if we loose the epl,as we have worked hard considering all the injuries we had throughout the season and still we are top of the league..that's no coincidence...

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Mar 2012 19:42:40
I know this isn't good tonight, in fact it's bloody awful but I've heard some news today that's even worse. I've been at Cheltenham all week and today spoke to some very influential people who have told me that Sir Alex was prepared to step down this summer to get Mourinho in to avoid missing out on him to another club. It seems a deal has been struck behind closed doors that both men will do one more season at their respective clubs then SAF will step down (he doesn't want to move upstairs he wants a clean break) and JM will take the reigns. I can't reveal my source for obvious reasons but I guarantee he's VERY in the know

Believable15 Unbelievable25

That would be good news, if true , Mourinho is very much the right choice for the Manchester United position. SAF cannot go on forever

Red Man

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks no name for the information.

Can you tell me the name of SAF's horse that ran yesterday seeing as you are so close to Mr. Ferguson and at Cheltenham, should be an easy one?

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

GDS.....read it again...where did he say he was talking to SAF

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm the original poster and I had actually backed Harry the Viking as I had done when it won its 2 previous races at Doncaster. Funnily enough I was with the same person who gave me this information on one of those occasions.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he is speaking to someone very in the know then he must be close to SAF or how would he know? Never said he was talking to him, so maybe...you read it again....

I would actually be pretty happy if this was the case, not sure why you think it is bad news at all, Mourinho has said many times he wants his next job in England to be a long one he can stay in for a long time. He has won the league at every club he has been at and has won the Champions league at 3 previous clubs.

I love SAF and would have no problem with him staying for years to come but he seems to have made a few errors this season, whoevers fault that may be, so a fresh start may be what we need.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares if the poster is correct but I will say contests if he is right

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see this being true to be honest, if it is i hope Mourinho pulls a fast one, "falls out with ozil and higuain" and accepts an offer from utd for the pair knowing he'll gets them next season! Obviously im joking but thats the kind of player he will attract, his ex-players woukd walk from spain to play for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I want to know why you think this is bad??

is it because you feel mourinho is a bad manager, or did you have reservations in reference to the time line??

oxred

Agree0 Disagree0

Mouriinho is not the right manager for utd we shud give the job to david moyes

Now is the time to chuck Pogba on for Park! We dont have much to lose IMO give the lad a bday present, he cant be doing much worse then what Park is doing at the moment, not just jumping on him for this game but hes been like this in all games recently, been a great player for us in the past though, Llorentes goal was absolute class he might not score a better on in his career. Im astonished that they are only 7th in their league, athletics overall game is class and so far over the two legs are deserved winners......... but it sure as hell is not over yet.

JWalk

Believable7 Unbelievable1

The thing is tht they r te 7th an we r making thm look Betta coz Spanish football is Betta thn English ATM an we r top an there 7th an they r a lot Betta thn we r Wat do tht say bout English football ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Omg I hope the fans get some compensation

Agree0 Disagree0

Time for fergie to waken up! this ime just not good enough outclassed in both legs by a team 7th in la liga!! too many average players and players past it!! ferdinand, evra, raphael, park, carrick, giggs,to name a few!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not over yet cant remeber a shot from us were appaling need to ditch the dead wait if we want to compete at top levels again this is just embaricing

Agree0 Disagree0

If we want to get any where near the top spanish sides we need to get rid of the dead wood on the pitch and get at least one spanish coach in all levels of side from youth to first team to install a style of football that is by far superior to anything we are playing at the moment.

sulei

Believable21 Unbelievable1

We are just to predictable god knows what would of happened if we played bauern or barca or real can't wait for the summer so we can get some players who are comfortable in possession all we do is get the ball wide then chick it in RUBBiSH

Nuri Sahin had interest from 2 top clubs from england in january
that means two of utd, city, chelsea, arsenal and tottenham(perhaps newcastle) were interested.
I hope right from the depth of my heart that united were one of them, would be a terrific signing.
Also, about the europa league, to be honest the epl is more important than the europa league, and thats why teams have such big squads, play the 2nd string(which is also quite strong), and if they win, fair play..if they dont , well i wont be crying at night in my bed for sure considering the europa league(semi) tie is just before the city of manchester derby.

I'd rather have played a 4-4-2 with scholesy and carrick in the centre, young on 1 side and park on the other, rooney and welbeck partnering upfront, could bring giggsy on in 2nd half

£23 million bid been put in for Viktor Fischer of ajax, 17 year old scored 3 for ajax U19s VS liverpool U19s
pogba will sign new deal and gaitan of benfica in talks with united

Believable4 Unbelievable16

Knock £20m off of your estimation and that is what you could probably get Fischer for.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you will find the 23 million also included Christian Eriksen.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 is erikson +fisher, not bad though i know very little of who fisher is
DJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 - Have you heard anything about a recent United bid for Eriksen?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - The Milan Press Office are convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expect a bid to be made by for Eriksen who remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for two more years before moving to Spain. Expect AC Miland and Roma to press if a bid is made.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed, why does he think Barcelona or RM will automatically want him?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I have no ability to understand his thought processes Syd. Sorry.}

Ed002 - Perhaps I should have worded it better ;)

But you have to at least admire his presumptuous manner.

Tonight is a big game and for some reason fans of other teams and pundits seem to think we have a massive task on our hands, but chelsea had a much bigger task against arguably a better team and came out victorious. As long as we play good football, keep the ball and dont give away cheap possesion we should have enough strength and quality to get the right result.

Anyway as for transfer spec, i dont expect as many signings as others, 2 possible 3.

Here are my 3:

- Jordi Alba (we need some spainish in our leam aswell as a good left footed wing back)

- Javi Martinez (a rock in the centre, versitile and with a bit of work could be the "makelele" figure we need.

-Hazard/Hoilett (hazard is the better version but way more expensive, if he comes he will be the new ronaldo if not then we will have to settle for the "nani" of the two, Hoilett.

Believable11 Unbelievable4

Yu've just managed to use every football cliche and comparison that I hate. Congratulations. :)

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Just posted a very similar thing, but had Alba, Martinez, Eriksen and Hazard and said I would loss Alba if money was tight (lol) as we have fabio, fryers and Blackett

Martinez is the signing for me.... very decent at CB (as we saw last week) and even better at DM.... he could be the foundation for a great team..

Oxred

Agree0 Disagree0

U not seen the way we play or how yet play it was almost a guarantee tht we would lose they got a Betta striker ans 3 better Mids than we have no chance of winning this game

In light of a potential clear out, possibly headed by Berbatov and Evra, do you think that Anderon will join the list of casualties?

Personally, i rate him and think he could be good in midfield with Cleverly. But he is never fit and regardless of what he adds to the team, this cannot be overlooked.

If we were to get a decent fee, what would your thoughts be guys?

RedDevil19

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Regarding Anderson "never being fit" - I remember at the begging of the season everyone saying about Van Persie always being "crocked" etc - should the Arses have sold him?
People suffer huge doses of bad luck also they are physically changing, maybe we will never get a full uninjured season out of Ando - but he is worth perservering with - unless the medics say otherwise
Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its time for anderson to go.has nt really kicked on from a very good first season.don t think he will ever turn into that world class cm that we need and are used to.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the fact that he was handed a new 4 year contract last soon, along with our best football this season having been played with Anderson in midfield...he's going nowhere.

Fergie loves him, rates him very highly, and was delighted when he get back to fitness last week.

As for his current injury, there has been no confirmation on the severity of it so it may not be as bad as everyone thinks.

He is the most underrated player in our squad end of.

JakeH91

Agree0 Disagree0

If you watch United and in particular Anderson closely enough you will know he isn't good enough. He starts a new seaosn brightly, and looks really good when he first comes back from injury really strongly but then with an extended run in the team he can't sustain it and ends up chasing shadows. It doesn't appear he looks after himself properly and for the position that we are supposed to be at the top of English football, he just doesn't fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

JakeH91..

4 to 5 weeks but think he will be back in 3

Did anyone catch the Liverpool Vs Ajax U19's game?

Apparently Viktor Fischer got himself an hatrick and 2 assists for the game

Ajax beat the scousers 6-0.

this lad seriously needs looking at, heard his name before and i'm sure someone has mentioned we were looking at him?

Ed's any information on this?

Monk {Ed001's Note - United are amongst a number of clubs who have been tracking him for a while, he was insanely good against Liverpool's kids. I haven't seen any more of him than that though, so I don't know if he just played out of his skin or not.}

Surely after a disappointing season in europe Fergie will decide to spend in the summer?

I personally think that we will need a few players:

1) CAM - Hazard/Sahin - either of these would be ideal
2)CF - Berbatov is leaving so i think he will be replaced - Higuain/llorente/lavezzi - all great strikers
3) CM - m'villa/martinez - wouldnt mind either, both can pass and great awareness of the game

A left back may be needed but might wait til following summer

Believable6 Unbelievable9

Sahin is a deep lying central midfielder mate, so if we were to sign Hazard then Sahin would be the other perfect addition. Hopefully he will realise that he is wasting his career in Madrid.

Don't expect to see any big name strikers coming in. If anything a youngster will come in. With Berbatov et al leaving, it makes it even more likely that an AM like Hazard will be signed as we would have three top strikers who can be rotated - fewer strikers also means that Rooney can play up top alone with Hazard behind him.

I would say that this summer, if all went well and talking realistically we can hoep for 3 players - Nuri Sahin, Eden Hazard and Aly Cissokho. Martinez may just be our of our reach and i expect that M'Vila will end up elsewhere also.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

I will Pick up Sahin for us.. he better option in CM also he us left fotted player and cleverly will be along side with him....
