ed what do you think the chance is that we'll raid brazil for talent this summer? (eg Neymar, Ganso, Lucas, Damiao) they are the future and along with de gea jones smalling cleverley could they be the future? {Ed004's Note - I can't see any of the ones you have mentioned signing for Manchester United}

does the ed feel whoever doesnt acquire hazard will target belhanda french young player of the year 22 two footed pace bags of skill plays on either wing or behind the striker would probable cost half of what hazard will
or does sir alex have his eyes on gaitan and rodriquez
kagawa and belhanda for 25m would be great buisness and value for money cjwales82 {Ed004's Note - It is a possibility. From what I have seen of Belhanda he looks a good young player}

So United have sold Matty James and Ritchie De Laet to Leicester for £2m. Where's Rodio now with his info? Seems the clear out has began. I still expect to see Wootton, Brown, King & Norwood sold this summer from the ressies. Park, Berbatov, Kiko & Bebe to be sold too with Kuszczak & Owen released. I still think Anderson and Nani have prices on their heads too. With a clear out of this magnitude it would be nice to see a couple beauties like Kagawa signed. Fingers crossed.

Sydney!

Believable19 Unbelievable6

Who's rodio syd?

JK92

Rodio said about a week ago that Evra will be first choice LB with De Laet being the back-up, I said it was nonsense as De Laet was up for sale. Now he has been sold.

We (Oldham) have been in talks about signing him on loan for next season..

Kagawa doesnt play in central midfield he plays in rooneys place,we need midfield players urgently.

We dont have the money to buy top qauilty and thats the problem.

And ur rest all info is correct, i have heard those names leaving as well.. and may be just may be a LB target has became availabe so de laet is out.. he was back up, i never said he wil be first choice. so lets see who is this target! i m sure u wil find it out b4 me syd

rodio17.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is not going to sell one of our more influencial players like nani.

He will only look to raise small funds to reduce the money spent. The important reason for him to let players go is to free up the space in the 25 man squad

Our main pull to get players is the respect top players have for Sir Alex. My worry is players will know soon he'll be leaving. 1 or 2 more seasons maybe?

Also the Manchester United history comes into it.
Villa, Liverpool, Forest all have European Cups way back in history. Blackburn have once won the Premier League.

Thing is it's all about money these days. We will offer player x that much City will offer player x more.
PLAYER X SIGNS FOR CITY.

We've even lost that player pull now. People wanted to play with Beckham, Scholes, Keane, Giggs, Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney. We only have Rooney in his prime now and he kicked up a fuss about lack of ambition with star players coming in.

We need to go all out for Hazard and prove we have that pull.

Believable13 Unbelievable4

I think unfortunately the majority of players these days will consider their pay cheque the defining factor in where they play!

Believable19 Unbelievable10

He is not just lacking confidence though is he? He has also lost his legs. His speedy edge that he had has gone and he has slowed down significantly. I wouldn't pay £15m for Torres who hasn't been class for years now.

Fergie would be happy with 6m. I'm sure we'll get 8m if we push it.
His Agent has said he's happy and settled in England.
We didn't sell Heinze to Liverpool would we sell Berbatov to them? are Spurs interested? Arsenal?

He'd be there best player I'm sure.

Just a thought.
IF Hazard were to sign for SH**Y then ehy have already stated they need to sell. What about putting in a bid for Nasri, he hasnt been that great for them since joining and IMO he would be the one to make way for Hazard.

The thought of Nasri playing for us makes me sick. The type of player I despise, and I genuinely don't believe to be as good as some people would suggest. Perhaps more importantly, the type of person I despise, he is very unlikeable.

Sorry for the rant, but I really can't stand him.

I have a hunch, just a gut feeling, that Hazard will sign for MUFC not MCFC. I could be wrong of course but I cannot see where city could accomadate a player like hazard when they already have enough options there. He is very young, still only 21 and I think he will want regular first team game time. Also however expensive he is I see SaF willing to spend £30m + on him because of this...

Jake

Believable18 Unbelievable12

At first i didnt think so but the longer it goes on the more im starting to think we might actually get him because surely if it was a question of best offer, city would have made him aware of their mega offer weeks ago.

Fingers Crossed...

Yeah Hazard wil come to MAN UTD actually i am kinda close to his agent and yeah yesterday during drinks he gave me a hunch that he mite wear red next season

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you. ive got a feeling that hazard will choose us, might be completely wrong but ive got a feeling he will. mainly because i would have expected city (club and fans) to be already boasting about the fact that they have got him already wrapped up, especially mancini, like they have done with all their other signings. but they dont seem very confident ..
Lets just hope he's makes the right choice, the red one.

Devil for Life

We can only hope no matter how fruitless

Pardoe

Agree0 Disagree0

A.R do you mean my post or the one saying he is close to the agent?

Jake

Agree0 Disagree0

City have as much chance of winning the (Community Shield) Lge Cup, FA Cup, European Cup as we have next season. For an extra 50k a week and to be chillin out on the bench now and again you can see why players do go to City. Sad fact but true. Fergie is our pull and players think he will retire soon. Plus History tells us Liverpool, Villa, Forest used to win European Cups.

Agree0 Disagree0

City not being able to accomodate a player is hardly a problem. The money they have and valuable players already rotting on the bench or going on loan, we will be seeing 5 or 6 out and pretty much the same in. Would be surprised to see Tevez, Dzecko move on for starters from there first team squad

any thoughts?

A.R

If we get kawaga, hazard and martinez i think wed hav to change our formation as to only play 1 striker so no need for torres

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres are you mental...why??
It's not as if he's had a prolific season and his last season at Liverfool wasn't good either, there are dovens of strikers i would rather take than him.
Shocker of a post!

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez is a must and if we dont get him id go for feillani or cabaye or tiote. kagawa looks a good addition, and hazard, modric, munain or goetze would all fit in nicely. as for strikers id prefer falcao, hulk or cavani not torres. we need to strengthen in the full back areas also so id take alba and debuchy. Done!

Agree0 Disagree0

We could add Messi, Ronaldo, Sweinsteiger and Iniesta then we would be laughing, :-)....
HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

No Torres for me please.
I'm with Simmo, dozens of other strikers i'd rather have.
Personally i don't think we'll sign a striker, well not a big name one anyway.

From what Fergie was saying the other day it doesn't sound like he wants a holding midfielder. Says he never uses them so why start now?
Saying Carrick will be main man for 3 or 4 years yet.

Maybe a smoke screen, but sounds ominous.

I just wanted to confirm, players and clubs can confirm deals before july 1st but can't officially sign deals until after july 1st. I am obviously only talking about transfers between different countries. Is this correct ed?
Plus the players I would like to see arrive
Marquee either one of:
hazard/lucas/martinez all between 30-35mil
plus
kagawa 7-12mil
Munian/gaitan 20-25mil
Ba 7mil
Trickee {Ed002's Note - Broadly it is correct. Clubs can agree that a transfer will take place and the terms of that transfer. Players, with the agreement of their club, can agree terms but cannot sign anything. Try avoiding using the word "marquee".}

Just seen on Sky Sports that David Gill has say we have already identified our targets, and when questioned on Kagawa he said he wouldnt be drawn into answering questions about the player.
The players i would like to see.
Clyne
kagawa
hazard
lucas moura
martinez
lewandowski
van wolfswinkel
goetze
sahin
llorente
Cissoko
crisito.
I dont exspect them all but maybe 2-3 would be brilliant, we need a player like silva who can split open the defence with a killer pass and if i was fergie i would push so hard to get hazard, ive watched him afew times this year and he is simply brilliant, hes scored 15+ goals & 15+assists this years and he would be well worth the £30+ million!

L.A.7

Believable18 Unbelievable5

Agree0 Disagree0

Kagawa boasts similar stats in a tougher league - might not be a case of settling for 2nd best at all

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah i did see the smile when he was mentioned, i think kagawa would be a very smart buisness move and the fact that he is super talented makes alot of sence why he would be brought in, but theres something about hazard and if we missed out on him i think we would live to regret it for a long time.

I truly hope Hazard signs for us, not only because he looks like he could be nurtured and develop into something pretty dam special. Also i think it'd be a statement to other clubs such as: City, Chelsea and Madrid that players do want to play for United and no matter how much money they throw at them there is the odd human being who prefers our club for the right reasons. It would also go a step towards unifying any doubting fans. You never know he could be the next Cristiano (Big statement but it may happen)

Here's to hoping.

Andy

Believable17 Unbelievable4

This is the sort of statement which marks utd fans as arrogant you seem to think any player who doesn't sign for utd are morally corrupt you don't have a divine right to the best players in the world do you think Rooney would be playing for you had any other club been able to compete with you financially at that time and morally have you read stams book about how he was signed. Mw

Agree0 Disagree0

Newcastle lodged a similar bid with higher wages to Rooney - it made us act and he decided to come to UTD. I think there is an element of truth in what you say about some of our fans but most of us aren't like that. Stop tainting us all with the same brush.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe you've got a point, but maybe we've earn the right to be arrogant?

Andy

Agree0 Disagree0

Also it wasn't an arrogant statement, it was a biased one towards my team Manchester United. If you re read it and analyse it, i state that Chelsea, City and Madrid are better placed to throw money at players and that i would want a player to sign for a club for the right reasons (wanting to play at our club). With an undertone of acknowledging our lack of spending power. Being biased towards your own team is surely the nature of supporting some one? Anything?

@Fourth_Official on twitter says Eden Hazard is practically a City player. Ed002, is it more Twitter rubbish, because this guy is fairly good when it comes to transfer news.

G.A.G.U.S {Ed002's Note - Hazard has not signed for anyone just yet. However, I understand Lille are expecting a formal bid to be made by Manchester City.}

Believable6 Unbelievable9

I believe City said they haven't got any targets at the moment. It's probably rubbish, but if it's true there's surely no agreement with him and city.

In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if he went somewhere other than Manchester and his latest press comments were all a joke. He seems to be that sort of player.

I doubt Mancini & City would miss out on a player like Hazard just because they hadn't bothered to start looking yet!

In fact, if City haven't started thinking about transfers yet I would suggest that to be pretty unprofessional of them, so I reckon Mancini is talking b@ll@cks

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

'no name'

Sorry but you would have to be a very naive human being to think Hazard could choose United over City. He couldn't give a toss about either club and wants to move to Spain, so why wouldn't he choose whoever pays him the most until he moves to Spain? People need to stop living in a dreamworld. City will pay him double what we offer.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Talks take place throughout the season when the window is shut. David Gill and SAF have made that clear. City will swap Tevez, De Jong & Johnson for RVP, Martinez & Hazard if they get their way.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Just as you would have to be a very naive individual not to believe we will sign at least one if not two central midfielders in the summer, something you said last season Sydney. Personally I think the large interest reported in Kagawa points to us not signing Hazard, but I dont see a problem with a player professing his love for another club ie country. We were really a stepping stone for Ronaldo but that wasnt a bad deal all round for both parties forgetting the transfer fees. Hazard to CIty does feel more likely but dont profess to people being naive human beings or in dream world Sydney, I thought from having egg on your face so many times last summer you would have learnt your lesson of being so blase, sadly not

If true I'm sure the Spaniard will eventually adopt the 3-4-3/3-5-2 formations which we struggle against.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont understand why we dont cope well with it.
Houllier used to adopt similar tactics at liverpool, and other followed suit back then.
We used to just double up on the wingbacks and peg them back leaving them exposed in these areas.

Ed!

Any idea as for whom Hazard may have signed?

Victor J. {Ed002's Note - Hazard has not signed for anybody.}

Believable16 Unbelievable3

I think people should forget about Hazard. This is a lad who said he will use England as a stepping stone to get to Spain and if he means it then he will take the route which offers him the highest amount of cash. We cannot compete with City unless the player wants to move to United specifically and Hazard is not fussed, he has made that very clear. We must move on from him.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Whoever pays him the most and offers to play him the most. Most importantly is happy to have him for two seasons before he has a dream move to Spain.

Hazard has said he wants France, England, Spain, Italy, Germany. So he'll be a 2 season traveller in it for the dosh.

Agree0 Disagree0

People are going to get themselves all wound up hoping he will sign for us and they will be devastated when he signs for City in the summer. They need to let this one go. It's a no hoper.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Sydney.

I've become a lot more excited about Kagawa since he's rejected his contract and Dortmund stated he wants to move to the PL. We knew we were tracking him last year and will be able to get him even cheaper this year while he's only got better. Him admitting that United would be his dream move this one is GOING to happen. He's more of a team player and is less likely to p*ss off the players already at united. Think Hazard's ego is too big for my own liking, he may be one of thee top footballers around at the moment but what good is that if he doesn't get on well with the rest of the team? Bit skeptical tbh, but if he signs SAF knows best and i will very much look forward to next season!

only twitter rumours but apparantly kagawa will arrive in manchester for talks today.

phil

Believable22 Unbelievable10

According to Kicker, which is a reliable German website, Kagawa and his agent flew into Manchester last night. I expect this deal to be announced hopefully by the end of the week.

Agree0 Disagree0

I HOPE SO.
QUINNER99

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely if Kawaga was in Manchester today SAF wouldn't have too much time to see him as he and the squad are fly to Belfast for the Harry Gregg game

Agree0 Disagree0

To the last no namer, I doubt he'd come over for talks then fly straight back. It's more likely he's come over to watch the testimonial match tonight then speak with Gill and SAF tomorrow.. probably will have a look round stay a few days after all it's the end of the season.

take all the big names of your shopping list i think we are going for young and potential
jred

Believable15 Unbelievable4

Apart from Veron and Berbatov when have we ever bought the finished article? Its always been buying Young players with potential who are a couple of years off their peak and gelling them with the team and getting them into the United mentality.

I don't think SAF means he will be getting in a Bebe or an Obertan, he would be using the word "raw talent" if he was.

The likes of Hazard, Muniain, Kagawa, Rodriguez, Strootman, Clyne, Izaguirre are still young players with potential and are far from being called finished articles.

REDFAITH

Agree0 Disagree0

We already got Young but who's Potential?

....sorry, couldnt resist.
Hopefully this will stop people shouting out names like van Persie.

He also said players who will stop at the club long term so does that rule out hazard

Last year by this time CITY were already making noise about signing Nasri saying he was theirs even before thye got him....,but currently i have every reason that we have all but one the battle against them to sign Eden Hazard ;for CITY right now dnt have a strong position abt him like they did with Nasri last year.....,to Hazard we then add KagaWa,Javier Martinez and Llorente/Cavani/Wwolfswinkel/Lewandowski and some juniors like Clyne,Kovacic,Powell and the Bradford Bermuda striker we looking at now Wells...........And lastly keep Paul Pogba who hasnt cemented his deal with Juventus yet......,we can go far hey

We need only 2 to 3 players that's it. I would break the bank for Schweinzstieger and hazard then try for llorenta. We get these we will be back. The team now has very good promising young players so we don't want to spoil their progress. Even wil keane is quality he deserves a shot for me.

Reports today suggesting fergie may look at a bid for torres with Chelsea trying to buy falcao. They want to use him as part of a deal for Flacao but AM have said he will cost £50 million, maybe a cheeky 15-20million pound could snare him away.

We all know if we got him fergie would get him back on track like his liverpool days.

fearny

Believable15 Unbelievable21

He is kinda already back, i mean as soon as i saw him thump the woodwork against liverpool? Anyone remember that just recently? Ball came down from the air, took one touch as it dropped to push it past the defender then absolutely hoofed it from an acute angle and it hit the crossbar. All happened within about 3 seconds! That takes incredible ability to be able to do that just like he wanted to.

I think he would be a good signing at 27, would bring experience back into our pool of youth of strikers. Is used to not having much playing time at chelsea so Welbeck and Chico could still get plenty of playing time. Only thing that stands in the way i reckon would be the price chelsea would want, i think they want to keep him anyway! Make him partners with Falcao..

is there any interest in this player Ed?Deep Rider {Ed002's Note - The Moura situation is complex because his agent is trying to get an auction going for the player but Manchester United will not be interested at the quoted price. Ganso no. Iturbe perhaps a future deal beckons.}

City have spend around 460m pounds since the takeover of Sheikh Al-Mansoor (Season 2008-09).

Manchester United have spend around 125-130m pounds from Season 2008-09 to 2011-12 and have achieved 3 PL titles, 2 League Cups & all the Community Shield while on the other hand City have just won a F.A Cup and a PL title on only goal difference.

You will still say now that Six Alex haven't done enough for the club.
I don't think so.

Kagawa (upfront with Rooney as AM)

To be fair city have spent that money to get the team they have now , lets see what they win over the next few years

Agree0 Disagree0

City have spent £1billion since the takeover.
Their wage bill exceeds their turnover.

You're right that when you look at the figures, we've done brilliantly to continue winning. Losing out on GD is hard to take, but it's a credit to the lads that they've come so close during such a difficult season. So many injuries. Had City been missing so many for so long they'd have blown it weeks ago.

Bob

I partially agree with BOB, yet we gave that league title to city from the loss at Everton. We are Utd and rarely depends on other team because none will do us a favour. nevertheless im proud of the lads.

I don't want even to think about it.when the last time manutd sign a player from arsenal? wenger he'll never let any 1 go to manutd.second city they want to offer him £250,000 a week,do you think manutd can offer that kind of money? this is going to like nasri situation we offer 120,they give him 150.and we all know players of now days they ain't play for the jersey, its all about money.

Agree0 Disagree0

That would be emense. Van Persie is a quality player and arsenal is doing him no good, there not going anywhere. they need a midfielder that can really uplift there game though. someone like Schwiensteiger or Modric.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont believe Arsenal would ever let him go their captain and inspiration no way, I love utd but cant see this happen would love it but impossible ...

Agree0 Disagree0

Before this season Van Persie was constantly injured, even though he is a world class player i think it would be a big risk forking out a load of money on him. Plus the fact he is 29 years old next his body isn't getting any younger.
Not for me....we need young players.
Just my opinion!

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Getting Van persie is day dream.we don't have the finances to buy any world class players.
I just feel fergie will keep trying to keep his old top players and keep tryin to bring in cheap young players.we can't compete with city or real Madrid or even Chelsea or barca for dat matter

united need a player like yaya toure possibly Javi Martinez or more unlikely a cheeky bid for Sergio Busquets

Believable7 Unbelievable17

Busquets would a) not leave barca b) wouldn't be welcome here

Martinez definitely

=v1=

Agree0 Disagree0

Busquets, wouldn't last til jan in the prem, isn't strong enough for prem, get off the box and into the real world, silly post

lorcan

Agree0 Disagree0

Toure is much more attacking than both of those players mentioned. He picks up the ball and drives at the defence whereas the Martinez and Busquets play just unfront of the back 4. Martinez has spent mych of this season as CB.

J

Agree0 Disagree0

J,
you may be right but Martinez dictates the pace of games for Bilbao, even when he plays at centre back. He can break up play and set up attacks, similarly to what Toure does for that lot.
Even though Fergie says we don't need a holding midfielder, even that he's never used a holding midfielder, it's clear we need some steel adding to that area.

Bob

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO Martinez would be the signing i would go for. He is a fantastic footballer and easily up there with Hazard in terms of talent (obvs a different type of player)

J

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez would be a cracking signing. His range of passing is awesome. I've loved watching Bilbao this season, and to be fair, I'd like most of their team (Susueta, Muniain, Llorente, Dos Marcos, Herrera)

But I think Fellaini would be a great addition to our midfield and be our Yaya. He's big and strong and very comfortable on the ball and would be great for set pieces. I really think he could step up and be a real class act at United!

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2012 00:06:37
I honestly think that Hazard will join United. Didn't his father advise him to go to spurs for more playing time or something along those lines. And he would not get more playing time at city.

Believable11 Unbelievable8

Please ferguson, can u try and beat city to the precious signature of hazard and martinez.two very important players not to miss out on.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have just come back from a French holiday and the player was being interviewed. He says he will be playing in Manchester but could not say , who for? So it does give United a chance, even though they cant compete financially? Maybe its not always down to money... but the chance to play weekly - what hope has Tevez or Ballotelli got if City buy Van Persie upfront..... what hope has Silva and Nasri got, when City have Yaya Toure and Barry in midfield and want to buy Hazard....yes I would play 20 games a season for £350,000 a week. Who wouldnt......But I would rather have my name on the Belgian team sheet and not be told your dropped as your not playing regularly. Load of ifs and buts.......
