Anyone on think fergies replacement should be Jürgen Klopp? His style of football at dortmund is really attractive and he puts a lot of faith in young players. Also, if he comes in then mabye he could bring some dortmund players in with him (hummels, gotze, lewandowski, etc)
Thoughts?

Believable59 Unbelievable23

I'm a fan of his youth policy and, to be fair he's blooded some of Europes best young talent, but in terms of his CV it isn't up to the standard i'd want at Utd. For me it's Pep, people may point out that he had one hell of a team at Barca - which i agree with but now he's gone the Barcelona aren't the team they were 2-3 seasons ago, it isn't free flowing football now, and not knocking Klopp but I'd rather Pep come and bring some of his former employees with him!

Agree0 Disagree1

I would have him before Guardiola and Mourinho as he took Dortmund from the 2nd tier and brought them up by using youth players and cheap bargains, he also can work under a tight budget unlike Mourinho who wants 100m where ever he goes.
I still thinks Giggs will have it with Garry Neville assistant and scholesy either 1st team coach or reserves? Fergie will stay at the club as a director but I am worried that it might hinder the future manager especially of it is someone like David moyes, don't get me wrong I think moyes is a great manager but if fergie told him to do something he would do it, we need an independent manager who wouldn't be scared of putting his point of view across so
I think klopp would be an excellent manager and could well happen but I honestly seeing fergie last 5 more years.
Great point about players too if we got klopp and were guaranteed to get hummels,
Lewandowski, Gotze I would have him in a heartbeat.
What dose everyone else think?

Seen dortmund play against man city recently was very impressed very organised team, all the players new what there job was city were lucky to draw the game they would have lost but hart had good performance. Very good manager with limited resources..

Agree2 Disagree0

The idea of Giggs as manager has no logic what so ever, along with past players as the coaches.
Let those players work on their badges and then start off at other clubs. Don't let them hang up their boots and then expect them to take control of such a big club right away.

melwing28

Agree2 Disagree0

Finally some sense - well said melwing28. To think of putting Giggs as manager is laughable. What has Neville and Scholes done to deserve a coaching role at this club. Why should an experienced coach be moved aside to accommodate any of the above.
People have their blinkers on when is comes to players becoming coaches.
The thought of Giggs and Scholes in-charge, with SAF standing above them, whispering in their ear constantly, it's a recipe for disaster.

Agree0 Disagree0

The beleif within chelsea at the moment is that mourinho is city bound(the players do not like mancinis methods, have heard some bizarre stories) and guardiola is heading to united with ferguson possibly working with him for a season

Agree0 Disagree0

I would always go with Mourinho to replace fergie - success everywhere he's been, changed Porto and Chelsea and overtaken barca last season - think if he wins the CL with Madrid then he'll leave, maybe in time for fergie retiring, gancy madrid this season for the champs league

Klopp the man for me ! He's got a great eye for a player and is a fantastic tactition !

Agree0 Disagree0

It all depends on what the Glazers are prepared to provide regarding wage structure and transfer kitty. Mourinho would want a lot in order to stamp his authority on the team and it needs an overhaul. Guardiola I think would also want to make several key signings, I would lose confidence in him if he is working with Fergie during this time as a garbled message is not what we need, we need fresh modern ideas not a rehashing of what worked in the 90's. Football has moved on and you need one one boss.

Both of them would demand a very high personal salary and bonuses as well. If the Glazers want to invest some of our profits into the club then definitely one of those two. I also think if Jose or Pep took over they would get rid of all the old guard, nothing worse than trying to install changes only to have people like Giggs, Scholes, Rio, Coaches etc piping up saying that's not how the old Gaffer did it - AVB Chelsea fest.

If not it could be a case of Solskjaer, Moyse or someone like that - basically somebody just grateful to be there and willing to work with what they have. I think this Summer is going to be crazy, total transistion for the club, but whether it's for the better of us fans or the pockets of the Glazers remains to be seen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the comments re Giggs....why would someone with no Management experience be given the job of managing the biggest club in the world? He isnt even a leader on the pitch - its comical!

Agree0 Disagree0

Guardiola for me. Mourinho is a little bit of a pre-maddona and will insist on a massive budget and not a youth orientated guy.

People tend to forget he bought everything under the sun at at Chelsea to win them a couple of titles ( no different to what city has done the last few years) and it happened at the same time where our transfers did not exactly pan out as planned and where in transition. He also has a tendency to move.

I really think Guardiola given his age and philosophy in terms of bringing youth through the system is the next coach for the club for 10 years. Imagine how we would load up the academy with great talent.

Finally, Mourinho makes too many odd public statements where I am not sure a traditional club like ours will approve off.

Shahram

Agree0 Disagree0

With Mancini on 7m a year for a good few years yet city wont fire him and incurr around 21m payout. FFP would screw them over next summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Klopp manages to win another trophy this year he'd definitely be top of my list, for some of the following reasons:

Young and hungry
Still improving
Plays good style of football
Spots talent at reasonable prices (Kagawa)
Brings through lots of homegrown youth
Has beaten Bayern to so many trophies with smaller budget

I think the above attributes show that he is almost perfect (barring a little experience) to take United on a journey over a number of years

Have a question ...when Fergie decided to leave in 2001 (if not mistaken) , Mr.Gill said in an interview that they we're well ahead in discussions with the possible replacement. Any of you know who that might be?

RedMas

Agree0 Disagree0

To RedMas
I seem to remember that it was Louis Van Gaal who accepted the job and terms before Fergie made a u turn at the start of the 2002 season

One thing noones mentioned is that players love to play for Klopp which can't be underestimated. I agree that he has a fantastic eye for a buy and is a good tactician. Don't see him at united any time soon but i think he's destined for big things.

Who do people think will be the top 5 players to come up from the reserves and youth teams and have the biggest impact on the first team in the next few years

united4life97

Believable7 Unbelievable5

1. Mats daelhi - kid looks very special and can be up there with the best in the future
2.Tyler Blackett - Lad from manchester, tremendous athletic ability very strong and pacey and has an excellent technique too, future 1st choice LB and captain IMO
3.Adnan Januzaj - a lot like daelhi but with a bit more presence, great with the ball at his feet and could take on anyone.
4. James Wilson - had a fantastic start to his youth season scoring quite frequently with some crackers, he has Great feet and has pace to burn
5. Andreas Pereira (spelling) from what I have heard from everyone involving the club this lad will be a world beater, he has an excellent delivery and is very skill full, he also knows when to pass.
Well that's what I think anyway.
ShaunMUFC

Agree1 Disagree0

Reserves:
W Keane, M Keane, Lingard, Tunnicliffe
(could make it)

Youth U18:
Januzaj, Daehli, Wilson, Ioannou, Pereira (likely)
Rothwell, Pearson, Love, Barmby (got a chance of making it)

U16s (too early to tell really but) from first impressions at VS):

Mitchell, Borthwick-Jackson, Henderson and Rashford are incredible talents and will probably be important players for the U18 next year even as first year scholars. Mitchell was the best player for England U16s against Ireland in the VS. Watch the kids coming through next year, they are sensational and barring a Ravel/Pogba fiasco could match their levels IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

In no perticular order i'd say Blackett, M.Keane, Tunnicliffe, Vermijl and Lingard are most likely to have long term futures out of the current under 21's. Henriquez and W.Keane depending on his come back from injury also have a very good chance(Henriquez is quite likely but I haven't seen enough of him to have a real judgement on him yet), also Larnell Cole looks good but I do wonder where he'd fit into the team. We have some outstanding talent coming up from the academy atm but its too early to tell which will make it and which won't, so its unfair to judge them yet.

Shappy

Be nice to see someone actually break through and have an impact at the club. We haven't had this for many years.

I completely agree with shaunMUFC. They are my choices, couldn't of picked them and placed them better myself ! Dhaeli looks very very special as so does pereira (Spelling) !

You's all left out Powell do you guys not rate him cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

I left out Powell as i don't consider him part of our youth set up. He will be a very good player for us, maybe even a great player. But seeing as we signed him once he was a adult and we signed him to be part of the first team squad then i cannot consider him a youth player.

Jack Barmby is going to be class

One name hasn't been mentioned much and that is Shalke's Popadopalus. Quality young CB and is VERY interested in MUFC. Could be grabbed for less than 15, quality buy.

Believable15 Unbelievable14

Strong clever defender who can score good goals from set pieces. Would be very happy to land him.

Agree1 Disagree0

Don't rate him. Just another butch to come out of greece

I think it is clearly obvious that Nani is going to be sold soon. Who is most probably going to be our replacement for him though?

The best choice is Rodriguez, he is undoubtedly one of the biggest young talents coming into football. I was Porto a lot and him and Hulk(While he was there) were the stand out players.

-JakeW

Believable26 Unbelievable4

*I watch Porto a lot*

-JakeW

Agree1 Disagree0

But if we are going to play with our diamond formation more often where can we play him frequently? I know he can operate in the whole but he is like an out and out winger, a left footed Valencia if you like, and with out new formation of free flowing fluidity I think he wouldn't fit in.
ShaunMUFC

Agree0 Disagree1

I think who replaces Nani will depend on how intend on playing. If we sell Nani it could be because we are moving away from playing with wingers, in which case it makes no sense to replace him with a winger. We could replace him with a player who plays more centrally and is a harder worker. Maybe someone like Isco or Muniain or maybe some else completely.

Shappy

Agree1 Disagree0

I see your points guys, but Rodriguez has been playing as one of the CAM's in a 4-2-3-1 system, and as he is young maybe he can be developed into a 3rd CM?

Isco is a possibility too though.

-JakeW

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Rodriguez could still come with Nani staying. Both could play up top in a 433 a little more so than young or Valencia. If anything I'd probably sacrifice Young out of our wingers as nani can also fill in on the left if we need a formation with wingers.

Supasub

Agree0 Disagree0

Tom Ince will replace Nani for sure.

I was wondering who you guys would want in the summer (Realistic) Ins & Outs and next seasons team

19-20 MUFC

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Well I would think Nani will be sold, bebe Wooton evra Anderson scholes and giggs retired I would like to see Baines gotzë and wanyama come In, I think this is realistic and within our budget.

Caolán.

Agree1 Disagree0

^^ Why would you want to get rid of Wooton?

Amit-Bombay

Agree2 Disagree0

Agree to Scholes and Giggs retiring,Nani and Anderson sold if they don't start playing well (Consistancy issues)Would also put Carrick,Rio,Vidic, in there as well (Thinking about their age, and if bids for them were good). In's Would love to have Gotze,Hummels,Isco,Rodriguez or Gaitan. Pique back from Barca would be cool but it will never happen. (TheInvisibleMan)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ronaldo and Hummels or Sakho. That's all. Out Nani, Bebe, Scholes & Giggs retired

Agree0 Disagree0

Realistically, I think we will sell Nani & Evra, Macheda, Bebe, Anderson and a number of reserve players as I believe the manager and the club do not believe they are good enough or they would have been given an opportunity already. 35 million in.

Scholes and Giggs will retire.

Realistic ins Hummels, a left back( none of the people we keep mentioning) and a marquee midfielder. In addition we will probably sign a couple of high profile youth prospects i.e. Victor Fisher and the Croatian kid or someone like that. 80 million out.

Shahram

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not that I want to get rid of Wooton its just I don't feel he will stay here as I think Michael keane is a better player!

All these rumour about falcao and co really surprises me, if we buy all these players our aim won't work because i sEe a fergie that wants to give youth a chance;petrucci, kean brothers, wotton jesse lingard, larnell cole, henriquez and co were bought for a purpose and not to fill the U21 league so expect fergie to strengthen only in midfield. Pls ed can u confirm

Believable15 Unbelievable2

It annoys me when people ask the ed's or sydney or bob hope for confirmation on matters relating to something that only sir alex ferguson or a member of the united hierarchy can answer

no disrespect to the eds or anyone else for that matter...but unless i hear from sir alex directly it doesnt matter what assumptions people can make or may hear......

but i have to disagree when you say buying falcao would be a waste of money when he is clearly one of the best strikers in world......stick him up top with rvp rooney behind, kagawa to the left, valencia to the right, cleverley and a top defensive midfielder and id be well happy

Im all for giving the youth a chance but in doing so surely it can only be to a select few on a yearly basis, theres no way our whole youth can expect to be thrown in at the deep end

Robbo

Agree3 Disagree0

And a 3 man defence?

Agree2 Disagree0

Lets face it when Evra is in there we practically have 3 in defense anyway.

Agree3 Disagree0

I named 6 players which leaves 4 in defence or am i missing something lol

Whoops forgot about falcao ha :-)

I see some Media sources are saying Ashley Cole will be leaving at the end of the season, due to not signing a contract extension. Didn't we supposedly show some interest in him earlier in the summer?

Hey Ed(s) did Manchester United show any proper interest in Ashley Cole or was it just paper talk?

Cheers in advance.

-JakeW {Ed002's Note - There was no interest.}

Believable2 Unbelievable21

Despite his talent do we really want this tosspot at OT ?? Dont think Rio will want him there either. Give Buttner his chance i say !

Agree2 Disagree0

Ed 002 do you suspect there may be interest should Cole not sign a new contract by the end of the year?

Stuey {Ed002's Note - I would very much doubt it.}

Ashley Cole to United, let's hope not!
