Friend of the family works for a Spanish newspaper and it appears that Utd actually did talk with Barca about Xavi this summer! No idea how far the discussion went but the fact that Barca were willing to open negotiations is surprising! More info about the story is likely to find its way into the press over next day or so. Interesting. Perhaps SAF really did have an ace up his sleeve - pity it didn't work out. Will let you know if I hear anything further

Funny enough Ironside I've also heard something similar to this at the beginning of the week. Deal was discussed when Barca thought Fabregas was 100% done deal. Xavi to Utd next summer perhaps. Didn't NPrat or someone say that Utd were after Xavi ?
