think we desperately need a left sided winger some one to replace giggs we have 3 right wingers fighting for one position. we need a ball wining midfeilder in the roy keane mould.i dont think you could physicaly replace keane because theres only 1 keano if not like to see pogba develop in that role a central midfeilder who can take/dribble past his marker a skillful player and a target man who can play the ball not just some one who can get his head on the ball any suggestions for positions

Believable16 Unbelievable7

Valencia is a right winger
young is mostly left winger or through the middle
nani plays both wings not sure which is his best tho
so we dont really have 3 right wingers fighting for 1 place

Agree0 Disagree0

Which one has the left foot hence the word right winger {Ed007's Note - They all have a left foot. I wasn't at the medicals or that but I'm sure someone would have noticed.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha funny Ed. Personally I would agree somewhat with the original poster. Valencia is definately a right winger. Nani can play on the left or right, but is far more effective playing on the right, it isnt coincidence he had his best season last year playing there often while Valencia was injured. Young is predominantly right footed but effective on the left. So I wouldnt agree we urgently need a left winger though. The squad needs adding to without a doubt to be serious contenders in Europe, where, what and who is another question altogether
Invisible STuey

Agree0 Disagree0

Left sided winger has got to be gareth bale. think pogba would be quality if he had a run in the team next to scholesy. I would buy munianin to slot into scholesys shoes as he cant play every game at his age, v gifted player and only 19 yrs old. carrick nowhere near good enough for us. Also think Hernandez and Berba should go to fund a move for Llorente.

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrick has been one of the best midfielders in the Prem this season.
Just becasue someone isn't all fireworks and tricks it doesn't mean their rubbish.
He just needs the right man alongside him.
And suggesting we sell Chicharito is probably one of the craziest things i've seen posted on here.
I assume you haven't been following United very long?

If you watched the CL tonight there are two things that you will have noticed, firstly, Ribery is the biggest 'cheat' around. You couldn't possibly compare him to Young. Secondly, Toni Kroos is a fantastic player who I'd love us to go for. Nevertheless, I'd still like to see a Madrid vs Barca final!

RedDevil19

Believable15 Unbelievable1

Ribery is def a cheat , which is a shame because he is top player
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand why the media isn't talking of his diving. had he been a manchester united's player then surely they would have lynched him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha I was literally thinking of posting, I mean thanks god we havent got Robben and Ribery on our team, they were worse that the Spaniards last night. It's emabressing considering these players are so talented.

So is Gaitan a done deal then? Everyone seems to think so, am I missing something? I'd be happy enough to see him here, fast, tricky, decent football brain. Wouldn't be my first choice, but I'm not SAF.

Percy

Believable10 Unbelievable4

Why every thinks its gaitan i don't know. more like javi garcia, which every 1 seems to miss.

over the last 10 years Andy Johnson has won more penalties than any other player in the EPL ,
Young was second
jred

Believable15 Unbelievable1

But how long has young been playing in the premier league?

Agree0 Disagree0

I hate to say i am glad we one the two games but i have to admit he went down far too easliy and against QPR he was offside not saying he is a diver just that he needs to stay on his feet unless major contact is made

Times football journalist James Ducker posted on Twitter yesterday: "For those asking (re) Gaitan, I'll stress again, is NOT going to Manchester United."

Days earlier he posted, "Ignore the talk about United agreeing a deal with Benfica for Gaitan. It's utter horses**t #mufc. City not interested either #mcfc."

Fabio da Silva’s agent has confirmed that the Manchester United defender is set to move to Benfica on loan. This must mean he is part of a Gaitan deal i'd be surprised if this wasn't the case. Even tho i'd prefer Eden Hazard if he signs Gaitan i can't say i know better than Fergie.

Whilst on the subject of these Premier League awards, I thought the nominations of the best save category weren't that good. In my opinion DDG's save against Mata's free kick at Stamford bridge would have beaten all those on te short list.

Rudderpost

Believable22 Unbelievable1

I think your right but a lot of people still seem to have an agenda against him and hes probably too new to the prem to go on the list accourding to some people, the media are itching for him to make a mistake then he'll be useless again in their eyes

everyone says we need a left footed attacking player so ill put a shout in for ozil it wont happen but he is what we're looking for ; left footed , young, good passer has all the attaking attributes and if we get ozil we dont have to get a winger because he can play rw/lw cam cm he can partner pogba or whoever the holding player is and feed passes through to the strikers

Believable3 Unbelievable7

What are you on about,he turned us down for real once before and he plays regular for them so how are we gonna sign him.

Noboday care to mention that Raul is out of contract in the summer? Fergie loves him and he would add goals and experience to the team. I can see Owen leaving and Raul coming in on a 1 year contract. personally i wouldnt mind as long as we bring quality into midfield.

Stuey

Believable12 Unbelievable7

Could be nice move

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that ship has sailed lads. The manager did say that if he never bought Owen he would have signed Raul when he left RM. Not sure he will now being 3 years older than Owen. I guess we will know soon enough.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

You don't seem to follow soccer mate! Raul signed a contract in Jan with the Russian side. {Ed007's Note - No he didn't. Schalke are waiting to hear if he will sign a new contract with them.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't he turn us down to go to Germany? Unlikely to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed...Raul is still at Schalke and is out of contract in the summer. You may be right Syd but might be a sly move if our finances are focused elsewhere..

Stuey

How dare you call it soccer!

Raul i think would potentially want more playing time than what he'd get at United.

all these rumours flying about but nothing really concrete. What is the current situation with Hazard? hasnt fergie been to see him personally.....does that not make him no1 transfer target?

personally if we brought in

1 - eden hazard
2 - Javi martinez
3 - a striker ( llorente,cavani,higuain)

then i think we would certainly compete alot better in europe and a good chance to retain title as well.

Believable35 Unbelievable1

I really don't see this happening! I wish it would but it is HIGHLY unlikely!

Jamal

Them three players would cost around 90mil, higuain would be cheapest at 25 or 30mil.

I would take just Martinez & Hazard, but they would cost £40-50m, but I have said for ages they would be my first 2 signings in that order if the money was there and it was possible to get them.

if we could keep Pogba and promote petrucci then we would have a very good mid-field line up..... I would pick 5 from these 9 with rooney up top....

Martinez, Cleverly, Pogba, Hazard, Nani, Anderson, Young, Velencia, petrucci

this would then leave, carrick, fletcher, scholes, giggs, park

I would sell carrick if fletcher is fit or keep carrick if not. Park would go, giggs I would keep around (as he has signed new contract) but he would not play and scholes I would play in certain games plus having him in training every day would help everyone.

still getting Martinez & Hazard is a dream but we can all hope.

I'm gunna be honest here and I don't know if many people will agree, but I've never rated Fabio. I think Rafael has shown some good form in recent games, but I think Fabio does need a loan move as it's been rumored. He will gain confidence with more game time and with no left back cover, if Evra gets injured, we would need to sign someone in the summer. I know they are young, but I'm not sure why Smalling doesn't play right back. Jones has also been off the pace a bit as well. Just my thoughts.

Brooksy

Believable7 Unbelievable20

I really can't understand why some people still want Jones or Smalling at RB when Rafael has proved time and time again that he is our best natural RB. Also, I think he and Valencia have one of the better partnerships atm.

Gar

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love to see in the future our back 4 and GK lining up as: De Gea, Rafael, Smalling, Jones, Fabio. All around the same age with great potential and will have been at the club together for a long time. I hope this is what Fergie wants too

Cooper

Agree0 Disagree0

From what I have seen of Fabio, i think he is better than Rafael but unlucky due to injuries... Just my opinion

AJ

Agree0 Disagree0

All the brazilian managers at youth level rated fabio a far better player than rafael,he needs an injury free season and plenty of game time which hopefully he will get at benfica.
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to admit that Valencia and Rafael do make a good partnership, but we still don't have any "experienced cover". Smalling hardly plays and neither does Jones, or not in that position.

Brooksy

Agree0 Disagree0

A loan move for fabio is the best for all.

evra is team captain so if fit he plays.

Fabio needs more games time.

As for cover at LB? We have ezkiel fyers! he won't be called upon much due to evra being made of tougher stuff and hardly ever in the physio room.

Why we go out and spend money on LB cover i don't know.
Evra is declining but saf aint ready to drop him just yet.

Rafeal is by far the best RB we have - he should be first choice every game when fit.

Smalling should be cover for rio - Jones turned into a box-box player as he is good defensively and aint shy about going forward.

I think if gaitan is signed he will play more centrally but will cover left side if needed he will not be brought as a winger I think fergie likes a left footer in the middle like anderson and maybe why giggs gets games in the middle when he really shouldn't. I think gaitan would be very good in that position I think maybe you look at other players and think he would be better but he could be exactly what we need. He could be a cheaper and better solution to are midfield problem I don't think you can just said other players will do better because they have a better reputation like hazard you don't know he will be good at united if he came imo the french league is a poor standard it is improving but lots of you slate gaitan and I personally think he would be a good buy. My main issue is a striker I think we need a big strong quick front man that holds the ball up well I would like cavani above anyone else this summer. If we got him and gaitan I would be very happy and get pogba to sign and get cleverly and anderson fit and ready for the next season I would be very happy with are midfield options and are attacking options

Believable8 Unbelievable9

So when scholes and keane were on form he loved a lefty in cm??

did i miss someone?

Agree0 Disagree0

Love it, if hazard had just signed you would be singing from roof tops, because it looks like gaitan is coming you slag of hazard and claim french league is poor.

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's hope that we are offloading Anderson as well then!

Agree0 Disagree0

Were desperate for a centre midfielder...end of!

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Scholes and keane was a while ago i think SAF likes the idea of a lefty in the middle of the park it adds a different dimension to the play. hazard could be good and i wouldnt mind us signing him i am just saying a lot of people are slating gaitan and praising hazard but we dont even know who would be better i think gaitan might be a better fit at united and probably 15 million cheaper. and my concern is upfront because welbeck and hernandez have been very disappointing recently especially hernandez. welbeck does look like he will be very good but his finishing has been very poor it will get better but i think a striker that has a big affect on a game is must in the close season a real game changer up front with rooney

Currently we are looking to bring 4 or 5 players,

1. Left Footed winger (not sure its gaitan)
2. AM (Hazard is a possibility, could be someone cheap if Martinez is bought)
3. DM (If pogba leaves, then highly likely Martinez)
4. Clyne (looks like a done deal)
5. Striker to partner wayne rooney

There will be a massive clear out:
1.Berbatov as we all know
2.Kusczcak
3.Park
4.Macheda
5.Bebe
6.Pogba (unsure)
7.Owen
8.Many from the youths
--------------------------
I hope we make atleast £10M by clearouts
And we might spend around £50M.

And we are in good shape.

DC_9

Believable2 Unbelievable11

How can we get them 5 players for 50 million? A striker that is better than Welbeck and Hernandez would cost 20+, Martinez 30+, Gaitan 20+, even with a cheap attacking mid that comes to 75 at least.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

If i was a betting man i'd put good money on us not buying 4 or 5 players this summer.
Maybe 1 or 2.
I know it's exciting to allow yourself to drift into fantasy land when it comes to transfers, everybody seems to do it, but really it's unlikely.
Given how we've blooded a few more youngsters this season, Cleverley, Pogba and Fryers in particular, and looking at the quality we have at reserve level i can't see Fergie bringing in more than a couple of new faces.
Cleverely and maybe Pogba (if still here) would be likely to get more games next season, especially Cleverley. Fabio on loan seems to suggest that Fryers will deputise for Evra next year.
Can't imagine why we would want another winger. Imagine Gaitan will play centrally, or left with Young playing centrally. Either way, another winger seems wasteful.
We already have a striker that's better than Chicharito and Welbeck, his name is Dimitar Berbatov!
We're top of the table, we've scored 82 goals, second only to Citeh's billionaire strike force (85). Are goals really what we're lacking?
Don't understand the fixation with another striker.
Fantasy football gone mad.

Agree0 Disagree0

One or two! Get a grip lad. At least three, probably 4/5 players will be signed for the first team squad. They wont all cost silly money, perhaps one or hopefully two will.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Four or five?
Me thinks you should get a grip yourself Ma'am.
No way will we sign 4 or 5 first teamers, no chance.
I thought you were supposed to be clued up?
lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah i agree... i would say 1 maximum 2 players we will sign and 3? if where lucky!
meggzie

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Syd is probably correct with 3, maybe 4 or 5 if we managed to sign a player who is out of contract. I think it will be Clyne, Gaitan and possibly Hazard or Strootman. I know you are mad on us getting a left back Syd but I also know you follow the reserves and must see Blackett is almost ready.

I wouldn't be surprised if we also sign somebody that is not on the radar at all, like the Hernandez deal, nobody saw it coming, just how United love to do business. I am sure everybody on here will slate whoever it is we sign if he is not a 'big name' but the cheap players from under the radar can be the most exciting.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Ide like to see pogba, berba and most definatly park stay, pogba has great potential, park is so underrated, it thrustrates me how people cast him aside, his workrate is fantastic and can get goals and come up trumps in the big games, but hazard yes that would be awsome, gaitan again we need a player along those lines to push our champ league status, we generaly suck against the spanish teams, they are to quick, we need some more spanish style players in a united shirt :) !

Agree0 Disagree0

Also i didnt put micheal owen, still great experience, and when hes fit, he plays, he scores, also a good mentor for chicharito as they have a few similarities in their playing style :)

The more and more I look at it for the summer, providing we can get Pogba to sign on for another year, I would be ecstatic if we went for Gaitan and Hazard as opposed to an out and out central midfielder. Both those players can be played out wide, in attacking midfield, in the hole behind Rooney or as a support striker. Having an attack of Nani, Young, Valencia, Gaitan, Hazard, Rooney, Wellbeck and Hernandez all rotating would be amazing for me. Behind them you would then have Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson, Pogba, Jones, Giggs and maybe Scholes all rotating in the more deep lying midfield positions. Stick with Evra for one more year, although give Fryers some game time. Maybe pick up Clyne on the cheap as cover on the fullback roles.

So Summer ins of Hazard, Gaitan and Clyne with the predictable outs that people mentioned and you are probably looking at a 40m net spend, which I dont believe to be unrealistic. We would then be sorted in all areas, and would still leave room to blood the youth in the cup competitions, and maybe CL group games (provided it doesnt go how it did this season lol)

Thoughts guys?

Possible 22mil up to something for Gaitan.

I hope there will be cash for the so called WORLD CLASS player we need since the departure of CR7, cause Gaitan is a decent player, nothing more than that.

The Gaitan mania may jump on me now, but whatever, I watch games too and Gaitan is far from being an exceptional player, unless we have enough money to buy a Key player for CM position and LB as well.

The only thing I know is that will be extremely interesting to see how United will be in the market.

What we really need or just fancy?
