I've been told United have a serious interest in Barkley but from what I've heard the lad would rather move to an other club won't say who but defo epl .

Believable6 Unbelievable40

Probably Crystal Palace.

Agree2 Disagree0

Would be an excellent signing but why would he want to go and sign for Moyes? can't blame the lad if that is his reasoning.

Agree1 Disagree2

Everton fan here but come in peace. There is no way Barkley will sign for united with moyes their. He is close to signing a new deal and seems to be happy playing first team football for his boyhood club at present. Would take a silly offer for BK to sell

Agree2 Disagree0

Kstand01 - There is a very good interview with Barkley from a few months back where he talks about the time he broke his leg as a 16 year old. He was worried about his future as doctors were telling him his career could be over when Moyes turned up at his house. He told him everything will be fine, put his mind at ease, and gave him valuable reassurance. He also paid for Barkley and his family to go to Tenerife on holiday to help take his mind off his broken leg. Barkley states he will never forget the help he recieved from David Moyes.

Agree1 Disagree0

Both City and Chelsea will want Barkley. I suspect Chelsea may be the side he would rather join. Didn't an ex-Everton coach move to Chelsea? I could be wrong. I think we blew any chance of signing Barkley when we bought Fellaini. Instead of spending £30m on the Belgian we should have spent it on Barkley.

Agree3 Disagree0

Elbow55 - yeah, he may never forget it for him but that doesn't mean that he'd go and sign for him as a player. Big difference.

Agree1 Disagree1

He also remembers not getting a game when Moyes was in charge . plus he isn't a friend of some of the present United coaching staff . remember who advised him to stay at Everton as long as possible after gaining his FIRST England cap . non other than Steven Gerrard . it doesn't come better than that . one scouser to another irrespective of clubs

Agree1 Disagree1

I think you mean Mick Doherty syd who was an Everton scout. He may well be on his way to us very soon from what I heard beginning of the season.

Agree0 Disagree1

Would be a huge shame if Barkley went elsewhere. This season is the most important for a long time. We ain't guaranteed even top 4 at the moment and if we finish out of the top 4 then there's no chance of him moving here.

Agree2 Disagree0

Prodigal

" no Chance of moving to us" Is that because Everton is going to get CL spot lol, never going to happen.

On a more serious note, I hope we don't spend silly money on him, he is big and strong but better midfielders out there who are more creative and technically better, which is what I believe we are lacking. I would say 18 million is a fair price given what you can get elsewhere for that sort of money.

I would rather push the boat out for someone like Koke than Barkeley. Typical overhyped and overpriced english player, who has had 5 or 6 pod games and people tag them as world class.

Watch the world cup this year and it becomes quite evident how they are nowhere near world class when they play proper opposition.

Agree2 Disagree0

God Created United you are wrong my friend, Barkley will be world class and Everton would laugh at £18 million.

Agree0 Disagree1

God Created United: Whether Everton make the CL or not is irrelevant in determining which club he would go to. Chelsea and City will probably be in the top 4 an both would look better at the time if we don't get that CL place.

Lol to Barkley being overrated and only big an strong. The only better technical players his age that I've seen are Ravel, Oscar, Thiago and ironically Delefeu. None of those players could play in a midfield 2 which is where he's at his best. This number 10 role he plays in now I only to get him use to the PL so he can make mistakes in a less crucial area of the pitch. He'll be up there with Pogba soon, the leg brea is the only reason it's taken him this long to establish himself after hi MoTM game at 17.

Agree0 Disagree2

Prodigal

We obviously look at players differently. He flatters to deceive and nowhere near creative enough for me.

He is a poor mans version of Steven Gerrard when he was younger. He is not Pogba class mate and there are so many players better technically, watch the young kid from Sporting. if we are going to spend money on potential, I will take the Sporting lisbon boy or if we were to spend on now, I would take Herrera or Matic.

Eveton plays a midfield 5 and it is easy to look pretty good when Barry and Osman are doing most of the hard graft and he is free to be a number 10.

Let them play a 4-4-2 and let's see how he does without the protection of the other 2 midfielders. Even Cleverly looks a different player when we have 2 other midfielders supporting him.

There are far a few midfielders who are complete enough to be able to hold a midfield in 4-4-2 formation and he is not one of them. He is good player don't get me wrong but nowhere near creative enough.

We are starved for 2 midfielders and everyone looks good at the moment but the reality is far and few will meet what we need. We definitely don't need anther number 10 as we have fantastic players who can play that position.

Just heard on local radio in Wigan that it is expected Powell will be back with us in January. Hope so. I am sure he won't play every match but he might just give us that lift, something a little different and make a difference just like Januzai did when he got his chance.

Morning Ed002. Would a swap involving Hernandez & Koke be possible?

Believable4 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona have held talks about Koke as have another side. Manchester United maintain an interest and I am told that Manchester City have also had Koke watched recently. However, chances of a move in January must be slim at best. I don't see it Syd.}

I love Little Pea but bottom line is he's only going to be a bit-part player while Rooney and RVP are here. Swap for Koke would make tremendous sense though I'd be v sorry to see the little Mexican go :(

Agree with Ed002 Koke leaving in Jan v unlikely tho.

Agree2 Disagree0

Thanks for the reply Ed. I expect we will work very hard next month to bring in a midfielder, but I know it will be difficult. Ed can you let us know if you hear something? Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Sure Syd.}

Koke would be mad to leave Athletico in Jan - they are in with a huge shout in winning La Liga and are firing on all cylinders in Europe. He'd be cup tied for CL games as well.
And why in his right mind would he sign for Moyes?

Edds if any of you are around could you please give us your thoughts on who you believe we may bid on in January and the likely hood of them coming

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware that anything has changed - Garay remains of interest. I would think that any further attempt for Baines is unlikely - and the club may look to Coentrao again at some point. Don't discount Herrera. If you want a wildcard for January, right now don't discount an offer for Konoplyanka if others move for him.}

Edd I know you said we are showing interest in freddy guarin do you think we could be front runners for him or is he headin somewhere else? Any info would be appreciated. Cheers

Believable4 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - I suspect he will go elsewhere.}

Seems to me that Chelsea are at the front of the cue.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was told we are not interested and have interest elsewhere. Not sure show he fits into chelsea unless they are selling someone. He plays as an attacker midfielder, on the wings and even sometimes a number 10, not what I would have thought they need.
